I just went to this place for the first time today. I got the dark meat lover with honey dijon and pickled radish. It was so perfect. The chicken had crispy skin, tender meat, and delicious sauce. I've never had pickled radish, and I love it!!! I meant to eat a few pieces today and then the rest tomorrow. I ate all 9 pieces. I will definitely go to this restaurant at least once a week from now on. As an added bonus, it was obvious that safety in this COVID era is important to them. They had sneeze guards separating booths and face guards for servers along with hand sanitizer everywhere. This only makes me love them more. I trust they're just as careful in the kitchen. The food does take quite a bit of time to be served, which is why I marked off 1 Star, I believe we waiting about 20-25 minutes. We were visiting town and a friend recommended this place. If you like Korean food and crunchy, this is the place. I ordered the 6 battered wings with sweet and spicy sauce (was not too spicy which was perfect) with cream corn and cabbage salad (salad needed a little bit more dressing). All excellent. Wow - I may have just found my new food obsession! I ordered five of the sweet and spicy battered wings for lunch at the office through Lunchdrop. I was on a call and couldn't get to my meal for about a half hour after delivery but the batterremained crunchy and the sauce was delicious. At $7.99 for five wings, it is a little expensive so I wish the lunch specials were available through Lunchdrop but I don't think I've ever had wings this good. I don't even typically like coleslaw but this one was on point. The cabbage was shredded very thinly like shaved and they didn't use a lot of mayo so the taste of the veggies wasn't masked by it. So ever since coronavirus ruined social life, I've been trying to support local businesses by order uber eats on weekends. I was craving some fried chicken around 9pm at night when I saw this pop up on my app. I did a quick glance on yelp and decided to go for it. Keep in mind that I placed an order within an hour of them closing, I wasn't really expecting much. But what showed up was AMAZING!!! I ordered the dark meat lovers in spicy sweet sauce and 5 count of fried wings in orange honey. The wings were big, juicy and perfectly coated. I ate the wings that night and saved the dark meat box for next day cause I can only eat so much (I have some self control). The fried chicken in spicy sweet sauce were just as good the next day microwaved. It was pretty much my lunch and dinner. Now that I have discovered this place, you can bet I will be ordering every time my craving hits or I just want a good snack with alcohol. AMAZING!! I've been wanting a good chimaek (korean fried chicken and beer) place in Austin for so long and it's finally come!! The sweet and spicy (yangyeom) is obviously the best and it took me back to the delicious chicken on Han River in Korea. The price is great too - the half chicken is enough to feed two and comes with fries, pickled veggies, and cabbage salad, all for $12.99. Having the sauce on the side was great because the ones soaked in the sauce could get a little spicy. The onion rings were delicious as well. This is pretty good for fried chicken, especially Korean fried chicken. Definitely one of the best places in Austin to have this style of KFC. Their portion sizes are pretty vast and I can see this place doing really well. Our friends shared a whole chicken with the yangnyum sauce, some baked wings with the honey garlic and a side of onion rings with our fries and cole slaw. It was a lot of food...we didn't expect the whole chicken to be that huge, but guess Korean butchery can pull it off. The baked wings are ok - something you could make at home, but the korean fried chicken with the sweet and spicy sauce is a real treat. Saucy, fried crispy and is lip smacking good. I really liked the slaw and pickled veg on the side as it makes for a great palate cleanser. The fried goods are really well fried - fries are crisp. The onion rings are massive and fried really well with subtle sweet onion flavor in there - highly recommend getting those on the side or if possible subbing for fries. It's a new place and I have been wanting to try this place out, since I grew up on this stuff in Korea - my dad would bring this after work and our family would dig in. I got HALF order of Korean Style Fried Chicken with Sweet & Spicy sauce to-go. First impressions : well-packaged, includes coleslaw and pickled Korean radish(nice!) and great sized portion. It really is a 'Korean Style' fried chicken, so it will include other parts of the chicken bone-in, not just the drumsticks and the wings. If you want just the drumsticks and the wings, they have that choice as well. It's got a heavier breading as it should and the sauce was great! Not too sweet or too spicy. The order came out in a timely manner (less than 10mins) and the owner and the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend that you try this place! They have the best Korean chicken wings in town!! I come here often and always get the same thing off the menu with friends. You must get the dark meat! There is always plenty of meat on the bone and it is super tender and juicy. I highly recommend the sweet and spicy sauce (it's not spicy, just flavorful) and the lemon pepper (if you're not a fan of sauce)! I've also had the sweet soy and it's also pretty good. But by far the sweet and spicy sauce is my go to. To begin your meal, I recommend getting the cheesy tots. Mouthwatering and delicious bites!! To counteract the heaviness of the meal I like to eat the pickled radishes (the ones you get as a typical korean banchan) or their thinly sliced cabbage. I came here to eat the wings after ice skating, which is just around the corner from this restaurant, inside the Northcross Mall. I got their Garlic Lover's Chicken dish and loved it. There is a generous amount of garlic, minced garlic and fried garlic cloves. The chicken is meatier than average. I also got a side of original fries. The fries are the way I like them, bigger cuts, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. If you want to get something more unique than the usual Yangneyom (sweet and spicy) sauce, (and of course if you like garlic) I would highly suggest the "Garlic Lover's Chicken". read more

I'm not one to write Yelp reviews but occasionally I'm so blown away I make an exception, and this is one of those times. We stumbled across this place while looking for somewhere that was open late, so not particularly seeking out Korean fried chicken. We've been ruined ever since eating the most amazing KFC in Korea. We went looking for something like it in SoCal, went to a popular place and were disappointed, so we had resigned ourselves to not being able to taste such good KFC again outside of Korea. Until tonight! Looking at the menu we were curious about the Tongdak, thinking a 30 min wait time, must be good. When we asked the waitress for recommendations, it wasn't mentioned and her description of it wasn't a big seller but we ordered it anyway because we had an inkling it must be good. To balance out the wait time, we ordered the battered wings with the 2 most popular sauces recommended by the waitress, the honey garlic parmesan and the sweet and spicy, which she said is like the traditional Korean flavor. After ordering I began skimming Yelp reviews for this place and was pleasantly surprised to see how many reviewers are regulars raving about the food. Expectations grew after reading those, but only found 1 mention of the Tongdak. The battered wings came out and the first bite brought me right back to Korea, it was perfectly crunchy, perfectly flavored, just perfect. The honey in the honey garlic parmesan was perfectly subtle, the wings were dry aka not glistening oil so perfectly fried. And once you got past the batter the meat was so moist and delicious. The size of the wings was equally impressive, they don't go for the usual sized wings you get at Wing Stop or Buffalo Wild Wings, these are twice as meaty, perfectly plump. The sweet and spicy wings were more saucy yet the batter was just as crunchy. I normally don't go for such flavors but this one was somehow perfectly balanced, I had a few more pieces. I'm already thinking this is 5 star food. Until the Tongdak came out! TheTongdak came out looking rather plain and unassuming, just a half chicken on a simple plate next to a little bowl of salt to dip. There was no hint of what would happen next to our taste buds.. we had our first bite and were absolutely floored by the expert level we never knew chicken could reach. We were comparing it to legit air-pumped Peking duck reserved 24 hours before and carved in front of you before serving, which we've had in Dallas and in Hong Kong. The skin is so crispy and the meat inside is so moist, so juicy and tender. We ate slower just to savor the bites of heaven. I started off thinking we shouldn't order too much, leftovers won't be good in a hotel, then thinking ok we may have some leftovers but it's so delicious it's worth trying more of the menu even if we can't finish, to ultimately wondering where all the food went (we finished everything, surprisingly). This place is not 5 star food, it's 10 star food! After finishing off the Tongdak we returned to finishing off the last few pieces of the battered wings. The Tongdak was so light that the wings now seemed saltier/heavier in comparison. But a few bites in and the still perfectly crunchy batter made me forget what I was complaining about. That is some expert level frying I didn't expect to find here. But also, I think it's perfect planning to eat other wings first and then finish off with the Tongdak so that your meal goes from out of this planet to out of this galaxy. If I lived here, I'm pretty sure I would get real familiar with their whole menu, all their lunch specials and etc. Next time we're in Austin I'll be sure to come back even if it's out of my way. read more

I really like their Garlic Lover's Chicken, the garlic bread, and honey biscuits. The other things I've tried are okay, but this particular chicken meal is the reason I return. (Note: I haven't yet tried Ruma's Oven Chicken--the marinated, baked garlic option.) None of their other sauces are exceptional to me (relative to those available from other Asian food places offering fried wings and such); so after first trying their regular fried chicken and naked wings, I've stuck with the garlic. I wish their service was as consistent as their food, but this may be a consequence of popularity and COVID. If possible, definitely try to order ahead of the usual dinner hour; otherwise, you may find yourself waiting for a while in the parking lot. I wish they didn't always pack the sauce packets (extra garbage filling) and had more vegetable offerings. I'm missing the cabbage salad (and it's awesome sauce) during COVID. I'm feeling more 3.5 right now, but giving the benefit of the doubt during COVID.
