This month's book club was at St Elmo's at Springdale which led me to the onsite food truck SPICY BOYS! I ordered the Tingly Gai which was not very spicy for me actually, probably a spice level one but, nonetheless I enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The pickles were more zesty than spicy. I also liked the Sichuan seasoning and the lemon chili oil. I ordered a side of spicy pickles and tater tots too, everything tasted fresh. They had an interesting papaya salad on the menu I wanted to try but the worker did not recommend it so I skipped it this time. Parking is plentiful onsite but it was filled today. read more

I stumbled across Spicy Boys when looking for a fast delivery dinner option. It seemed to have a good reviews and fried chicken sounded good. I was quite excited that the food was still quite warm, including the single wrapped side roti when it arrived. The chicken nuggets in addition to being a sizable portion are also large themselves. Their texture is crunchy on the outside and yet juicy on the inside and their regular seasoning has good flavor with just a hint of sweet. I tried some bites with both the spicy sauce and the basil ranch But ended up eating most of them without any dipping sauce because they were just that delicious. The tater tots are a tingly Sichuan. I admit that I have about a medium tolerance for spicy. The tater tots on their own and even with the spicy sauce aren't too spicy, but Sichuan seasoning does increase as you eat it so not sure that I could eat a whole serving of the tater tots due to the heat level. But I really enjoyed alternating between the flavorful hint of sweet chicken and the spicy tots. I got the side of roti because I had been very tempted to get the curry and roti dish, but wanted something with a little bit more protein today. I am so glad that I tried the roti because it was delicious. It really was flaky with a bit of chewing us and a bit of a buttery hint. It pulled apart so nicely and was so enjoyable to eat as much as I loved the chicken . I'm definitely gonna have to try the Curry and roti option next time. If you're finding yourself craving fried chicken or something spicy, I highly suggest you check out spicy boys whether it's in person or via delivery. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Spicy boys!!!! This food truck really knows how to make chicken! Spicy boys menu is fried chicken with an Asian twist. Their OG fried chicken sandwich is a well bread/ seasoned piece of chicken with honey, basil and papaya slaw. The meat is juicy and the chicken is fried well. The honey, basil and papaya balance the bold flavors of chicken. The toasted bun is soft and flavorful. My mouth is watering just thinking about this sandwich. Actually I might go pick up another one right now. If you prefer spicier versions, they them on the menu but I personally would recommend the OG. At higher spicy levels, the flavors get drown out by the chili oil and peppercorn. Came to this food truck on a hot ass 90 degree afternoon and I nearly died, but thankfully this location is situated by a brewery that has plenty of indoor seating and, more importantly, AC. Anyways, the food was fantastic. I got the OG sandwich with the fried tempeh and the tempeh was delicious with a slight meaty texture; I also loved how the papaya salad gave the sandwich a nice crunch. The classic tots were some of the best tator tots I've ever had--it was beautifully crisp outside while still maintaining a nice soft interior. The best part though was probably how much my boyfriend enjoyed the 5 piece bone-in chicken. F**ing WOW 5 star !!!!! The GOAT.. I tried them ALL, and I mean all. I saved spicy boys for last because everyone kept saying it was the best and original. I didn't want to love them more than all the rest, but now we too understand. LOL I may well be a zombie for this place. We ordered the FRIED CHICKEN (5PC),FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH HOT GAI and the tingly gal , CURRY & 2 ROTI, and SPICY PICKLES. Where do we even start. everything was amazing. My wife was literally drinking the sauce that came with the ROTI. If there was a 55gallon drum of it she would not be able to stop. The Hot Gai was perfect amount of spicy, not so much it kills you, but enough to remind you you are still alive!!! The 5 piece of perfection pushed me into a small coma and after a few hours of heavenly napping, we split the tingly Gal and a movie. The funny part was how we missed the movie because we were so happy just talking about the food. She kept saying the spicy pickles would be a mainstay in the house if they would sell it by the gallon. Look I tried the ALL and now we know why Spicy Boys Chicken is the GOAT and OG. When I was there the pick ups were steady, I see why this little secret is expanding! people love it, and now I know why. Spicy Boys has been on the list for a minute, only to find out recently how close they are to the house at St. Elmo Brewing...Super friendly and fast service....Great set up with the food truck, along with outdoor seating as well an spot inside to stay cool. Wife went with the Classic Nugs...great crunch, tasty chicken and plenty to be had...We both shared a Tingly Tots...spicy yes but we have a pretty high tolerance so it was just right for us...Superiorly crunch and there were 2 sauces....red and green..to be honest not sure what went with what...but both were delicious. I have brought so many friends visiting internationally to spicy boys because it is always consistently delicious. At the end of their trips they almost always say it was the best meal they had in Austin. I love how this location always has plenty of parking and can use the nice St. Elmo's beer garden. I just moved to Round Rock with my boyfriend and brother. We drove here to try this food because it looked good online. Came here and my boyfriend was immediately shooed away and told "ooh you have to order online and the guy closed the window" . So him being him he was like no I still want to try it. Okay so he gets his food and then goes back for some ranch and comes back and says once again they the guy at the window was rude. Well myself and my brother are waiting on our food, because customer service is everything to me, I used to be a server so I know. And while we're waiting, 2 guys go up to the window to order and the guy takes their order with NO ISSUE ! Great customer service and even a smile on his face ! If you find yourself at the St. Elmo brewery, I would recommend this food truck on site. It is their fourth location in Austin. They have an Asian take on chicken and their spicy tots are addictive. You can get your chicken at different heat levels. Keep in mind, this is a cashless venue so you'll need a credit/debit card. I noticed their tip screen changes depending on how much you're spending. They'll ask for your phone number so they can text you when it's ready. Everything is loaded into a big pink bag complete with napkins, ketchup, and towelettes. Always love their spicy nugs to go with some St Elmo beer, but I wish they'd double up on sauces. I had to ask twice for the correct sauce and it lasted maybe two or three pieces of their nugs.
