    two trays of sushi
    Gloria E.

The fish was fresh, the rolls are thick with 8 pieces in each, and the food was done fast. Pick up happens contactless with them leaving the order at the front of the store, efficient and clean. For the price, I think this place is one of the best for quick, cheap, and consistent sushi in the area. I've bought more expensive rolls with way less quality before, so I think I'm a fan.

10% salmon 90% deep fly flake.

I ordered three rolls special (salmon roll / spicy roll:shrimp tempura roll)via grabhob. They sent me the wrong item (two spicy salmon roll and on shrimp tempura roll)so I called. They agreed to send me another regular salmon roll but I can't eat the spicy salmon roll to show I wasn't lying. I got their point but I feel really uncomfortable. I wasn't lying. Also the spicy salmon roll probably only have 10% of salmon and the rest was just deep fried flakes. The shrimp tampora was 10yeas old too. One hour later, the driver finally came and tell me to bring down the spicy salmon roll to exchange the salmon roll. When I came out the door and gave him that roll, he looked really confused and upset without saying anything. One star!

Hibachi 2 Go is my guilty pleasure. It's quick, cheap, and hits the spot. I usually order the chicken teriyaki + some "special" sushi item-- this time a spider roll. It was more than enough for two hangry people. Their food isn't out of this world amazing but I'll give it 4 stars for what I paid for!

"Extra vitamin" on my Phoenix Roll. Ordered through GrubHub 09/06/18.

First: I found a tiny bug on top of my Phoenix rolls (picture uploaded 5 months ago) Second try: everything was fine. They said 3rd time is the charm. Yes, I got FOOD POISONING! My 1st in my entire life and I'm not the type to complain about restaurants, but this is crazy. I felt nauseous, headache, muscle weakness, had diarrhea, vomit, stomach cramps that woke me up MANY times at night. I wouldn't waste my time & energy to call and complain to them. From what I read from other reviewers, they don't handle customer service properly. Even the driver doesn't have proper manner, he hit someone else's car next to him when he tried to get out of the car to give my food. This review is for you guys who read this. Be careful when ordering their sushi with shrimp tempura. Mine wasn't cooked all the way, maybe not even stored properly. Thanks a lot, Hibachi2Go. You just lost another customer.

This is a small spot with a mostly take-out business. There are several tables to sit at, but I wouldn't call it a real dine-in spot. I've been here twice, and both times ordered the Teriyaki Chicken. The dish comes with a side of vegetables which consist of mostly cabbage. If you like cabbage, that's great... but if not.. there's not many other vegetables in the medley. The chicken had adequate flavor... nothing special. The food was made in under 10 mins, but the price differed from what was on my menu. It seems that I had an outdated menu at my office, so check prices before you order. Oh and FYI: THEY ARE CASH ONLY!!! $$$

My 2 roll lunch special: eel w/ cucumber on the left and tuna roll on the right.

Considering how much I order delivery from this place on Seamless, it's time that I leave my two cents regarding the establishment. Working at the Navy Yard, which is essentially the southern tip of Philly, there really aren't too many options for take out sushi, therefore I decided to give this place a try. I've ordered from here close to 10 times now. I've found the 2 roll lunch special to be an excellent deal ($7.95). The place has a $10 minimum for delivery orders, which is pretty standard. Delivery has always been under an hour which helps quell my hunger in a timely manner. I tend to order the salmon roll, tuna roll, and eel w/ avocado roll. They have all been fresh and decent. The food isn't mind-blowing by any means but for what it intends to be I think the place has done a fine job for very reasonable prices.

Delivery. Was okay. Got beef and broccolli. Very standard Chinese food. Questionable quality. Tasted fine although. Little too much sauce.

I got violently sick eating at this place. Ordered pretty normal stuff. The chicken was absolutely not "chicken".

The teriyaki beef tasted so bad I legit thought I had Covid. Hardly any flavor. Beef so undercooked. I'd avoid the beef.

We had dinner reservations for 7:45 but got there two hours early because we really wanted to try out their happy hour. Huge selection of food for happy hour and delicious drinks. We waited an hour but were sat and immediately cancelled our dinner reservations because we knew it was about to go down. Fair warning - if you're approaching 40 like us, it's dark, it's loud, and you're sitting on top of people. It will be worth it. We had the double knot roll, spicy tuna roll, BAO, and some drinks. All 10/10. But the real star is the grilled meats. Specifically the scallion ribeye. We tried to take pictures of all of it but it was literally too dark in the restaurant. I would go back and just order ribeye skewers for the entire happy hour. They don't take happy hour reservations but get there early. It's the best.

It is…read moredefinitely very dark inside and I was glad to be seated in the less noisy basement compared with the super noisy bar area on the first floor that also has dinner seating. We sat in a cozy corner booth and could easily hear each other although we could not read the menu or clearly see what we were eating the lighting is so dim (and consistent with the gothic theme). Now onto the food. We ordered 9 dishes (waiter suggested 8) and it was way too much for us and I'm a big eater! Edamame dumplings - 4/5, may be just me, but I don't really enjoy mushy fillings to my dumplings. The broth they came in was amazing though Tuna rice cracker - 4/5, not really a cracker, more like a crunchy mini loaf of rice topped with tuna and a slice of jalapeno - delicious and much more filling than what I was expecting. I only gave a 4 instead of 5/5 for taste because of the unexpected presentation of the "cracker" Shishito pepper small plate - 5*/5 outstanding! I could eat these all day they were so delicious. I'm not sure how they flavor these or what light crunchy sprinkles were on top of this very generous portion of peppers (I would estimate maybe 30 peppers?) I'd go back just for this dish Black cod fried rice - 3/5, I should know better that a miso black cod will be somewhat fishy, and with it spread in chunks throughout the fried rice I'd say this was my least favorite dish. Crispy brussels sprouts - 4/5, a solid offering, not much to write home about Crispy tofu - 3/5, not particularly unique although it sounded amazing when described - cubes of deep fried tofu drizzled with peanut sauce on a bed of cilantro pesto. But not that tasty and not that interesting Scallop robo - 5/5, excellent with a kick from the spicy powder on these, note these are very small portions, three slices of scallop (not even a full scallop or if these were full scallops they were very thin) on a stick Ribeye scallion robo - 5/5, also excellent, with three chunks of tender grilled beef Mochi ice cream: passion fruit, matcha - 4/5, but mostly because I'm not a huge fan of mochi ice cream, I'd rather just have the ice cream or have it with a brownie or between two cookies So overall, service was great, not overly attentive. And the food was very solid with an outstanding exception with the shishito peppers. I'm not sure I'd go back as it is very dark in there and if I was seated on the first floor I'd not be able to have conversation with my dinner mates.

Let me tell y'all something…read more.. I came to Sampan tonight as a party of one, and apparently being alone is the restaurant equivalent of showing up to a cookout without bringing a side dish. Now before I start, let me say this: I'm a huge fan of the owner. Matter of fact, I used to work for him part-time years ago. So writing this review feels like having to tell your favorite aunt that her potato salad got raisins in it. Nobody wants to do it, but the truth is the truth. The night started with them seating me at the prep station bar in the corner. Cool. No problem. I like my peace. I like my solitude. I like pretending I'm a food critic with important opinions. What I don't like is sitting there so long waiting for service that I started considering applying for a job. Nobody greeted me. Nobody checked on me. Nobody even looked concerned that I was aging in real time. When someone finally came over, my place setting wasn't complete. No napkin. No proper setup. Just vibes and uncertainty. I decided to do the chef's tasting because I wanted the full experience. Big mistake. That tasting menu moved faster than a church announcement after the pastor says, "We're running out of time." My server never asked if I'd been there before. Never explained anything. Never guided me through the menu. He was talking so fast I felt like I was taking the SATs. The ceviche was okay. Not bad. Not great. It was there. The cheesesteak bao had less flavor than the hold music at PECO. And here's where things got ridiculous. The bao was greasy enough to lubricate a transmission, and I realized I didn't even have a napkin. Now I'm sitting there looking like I just changed the oil in my car. So I had to flag down the host and ask for a napkin. At this point, I'm wondering if I'm on a hidden-camera show. The rest of the tasting menu showed up one plate at a time, and honestly, most of it was so forgettable I can't remember if I ate it or imagined it. But then... Like an angel descending from heaven... That bronzino arrived. Baby. Listen. That bronzino and those string beans saved the entire evening. That fish walked in like Martin rescuing Gina from another bad decision. Perfectly cooked. Flavorful. Beautiful. For a brief moment, I thought Sampan had turned this thing around. The pork chop was pretty good too. Then the kimchi fried rice came out and said, "Not so fast." Now I've had this dish before, and I know what it's supposed to taste like. Tonight? Absolutely not. I took one bite and immediately started looking around for the version I ordered. It was so disappointing I sent it back. And when dessert time came, I was emotionally unavailable. I declined. Respectfully. I was done. Look, maybe they had an off night. Maybe the staff was overwhelmed. Maybe dining solo just isn't their thing. I don't know. What I do know is that one heroic bronzino shouldn't have to carry an entire restaurant on its back like LeBron in Cleveland. The fish did everything it could. It fought hard. It deserved better teammates. Unfortunately, one MVP performance couldn't save the game. For me, this is probably my last visit.
