Ate at this place many times when I was a clueless kid and when I was a hungry teenager just looking for cheap food options. I visited this place a few months ago with a friend and my new and more mature taste buds. All the food here tastes old, not fresh, and reused. After eating at this place I decided to look up the health code violations on this restaurant, and I was shook. The place had over 15 violations that took place during an inspector's visit merely few months prior to us eating there. Hibachi Buffet is one of the A-list restaurants in Chantilly. I've visited here everytime I had friends or family to hang out with. You get varieties of selections from sushis, chicken, meat, seafood, desserts, and more. They have an enormous range of seating so normally you'll get seated pretty fast unless it's a busy season. Our server looked very tired which makes assume she was burned out from working during Christmas Eve and sometimes our tables don't get checked as often to discard empty plates. They did a good job refilling our water cups at the very least. Overall, I still highly recommend coming here if you're going out with a huge group because it is always worth it. read more

I have such a hate/love relationship with this place. Some people in my family are so enamored by this place since it's easy to feed a large group with different tastes. I usually go here every time I have relatives in town at least once. First, this is definitely a place where the more you eat here, you will get tired of it. However, in the past year, I've gone here way too many times to count that every time I hear we are dining here my facial expression is literally the moon emoji. As soon as you finish eating, you have to pause and ask yourself, "Was this worth it?" The answer is usually no. Sometimes, it's a mixed yes. The good: the selection of food, the huge dining area (we've never had to wait to be seated), and the pricing. The bad: it's buffet food, so it's usually just mediocre but you end up eating a lot of it...expect your stomach to be hurting later in the day. I may rate it 3 stars because I no longer have a fascination with buffets, but this place maybe deserves 4 or 5 stars if competing with other cheap Asian buffets. Don't waste your money. Very poorly managed buffet restaurant. Food items were from luke warm and cold by the the time we got back to our table. At 5:30pm on a weekday, the limited dishes at the buffet were lunch hours leftovers - pans were partially filled. Obviously, there was not a certified food manager checking food temperatures. The buffet counters were never wiped the whole time we were there - rice grains, noodles, vegetables & meats were all over. This buffet is waaaaaaay overpriced for what they offer. The selection is pretty small and the food is notably cold or stale. The labels for the food didn't even correspond to the food that was actually being served. The lack of care is evident. From my visit, I saw no real crowd pleasers that would encourage me to come back. The desserts were quite unimpressive and stale-looking as I mentioned. The cooks just stand around talking without refilling empty trays or checking for quality of the cold old food sitting out. One of the waitresses said "I don't want to serve large groups, why is this my responsibility" I had a group of 15 but there were only 4 other customers. I came here for the sushi, but I stayed, and will come back, for the steak. Ha!; let me elaborate. I have been living in Chantilly for almost a year now (before that, overseas in Dhaka, Bangladesh). I have gone to this place a couple of times in the last 11 months, but both of those times it was right before it closed. *Don't* go there right when it is about to close. Bad idea. Because it is a (mostly Chinese/Japanese/Asian-fusion) buffet, at the end of the evening everything is old and tastes stale. So tonight I was there at about 7:30 PM, and it was packed. So, *now* would be the time to see what their fresh food tasted like. I got a starting plate of sushi like I did the last times, and expected it to be not bad (last time, near closing, it was stale and bad, not make-you-sick bad, but still bad). Today, things were still mediocre (so, no good news on the sushi). The sushi just does not have a ton of different kinds to it, and it does not taste fresh (again, you won't get sick, but, it is not worth the money). (The one exception is the tuna; the rolls with tuna--say, tuna-and-avocado rolls--are very good, and the tuna in them is very fresh and tasty. Restaurant-quality tuna. But that is it.) But, this is a buffet, so, after finishing my sushi, I tried to have a little of everything else, now when it was fresh, to see if there was anything else I liked. And the roast meats, *that* is what was great. There are some mashed potatoes that I did not try, but they have endless ears of sweet corn, prime rib/steak that you can cut yourself a piece from, some pork ribs that you can cut fresh and take, and the Chinese-style duck is great too. Basically, you can put together a real American meal with the meats listed above, some ears of corn, and they have steamed crab too (so, like a seafood bucket meal of corn, potatoes, clams, crawfish and crabs, and some grilled steak on the side, with some like-barbequed duck too: like a combination of barbecue/grilled steak and outdoor seafood meals). Dessert is a good selection too, with various cakes there, but also tons of fresh cherries and orange slices and pineapple. (They have cream puffs or mini-eclairs too, every night.) All you can eat for less than $20.00 without tip (you have a server who brings you drinks and utensils, so you have to tip her too). I used to go to this place once or twice a month. I'm done. I went there a couple of days ago. The woman at the front demanded that I back to my car and get my mask. She said the mask was mandatory for everyone. As soon as I went to get my food, I noticed two employees behind the counter with their masks being worn as chin straps. I told the staff and they had those employees put it on. Only to find the same employees five minutes later with the mask off. At the end of the meal, I noticed the manager taking his mask off to talk to people. To top it off, the same hostess from the start was later hiding behind the front desk. We are regular customers of this restaurant. Food is always good and plenty of food choices. Service is quick and friendly. Recently we had an experience that should be shared. We left a cash tip of $5.00 and gave it to the server. Charged the meal to a credit card and left the tip line blank. Unfortunately, we did not fill out the total line for the meal. Total charge should be $25.82according to the receipt. When I received the card statement, I saw the charge was $28.32. The difference was too small to complain about. How often do they do this? Is the amount added too small that most customers don't complain? It's a lesson learned for us to be more diligent next time. I kept a copy of the receipt. read more

This past weekend, my large Filipino family decided to hit up Hibachi Buffet and Grill in Chantilly for some good grubs. The Redskins had just started off the season with another disappointing loss to the Cowboys so eating our feelings was on the agenda for the night. I'm not a fan of buffets but this one particularly stuck out to me because of it's large selection which would please almost anyone. The restaurant itself is large, modern and clean and the servers were super happy to refill our drinks, sing happy birthday not once but twice, and clear our tables. I'd come here for one thing alone which is the kalbi, usually super $$$ at Korean restaurants but comes in the endless variety over here. The glistening meat was constantly refilled throughout the night so I never went without. They also have a decent selection of crisply cooked veggies like chinese broccoli and green beans so you can balance your plate with some nutrients if you would like. On the seafood side there were lots of large raw oysters, blue crabs and sushi. I only partook in the California and shrimp tempura rolls since I'm trying to grow a human life over here but everyone seemed to enjoy it fully. Dessert selection was weak looking and looked like it had been defrosted twice before slowly melting under the hot heat lamps. Before I start I would like to say I consider myself a Chinese buffet connoisseur. In this occasion we went to this buffet because my cousin wanted to go to one after a really long trip. This was our closets option so we went. The place looked nice aesthetically which was inviting but it had a weird smell. The biggest disappointment was trying the food it was bland (and watery from the steam?). There wasn't a big variety for the kids. Overall everything was cold and dry. The sushi tasted mushy too. By the time we were getting desert we didn't really eat that much. Some of the plates were dirty too. The service was ok nothing out of this world they weren't really present the waiters were all doing their own thing. When we tried to complain they would just smile and not really help. Satisfying buffet place. Lots of food selections and really liked their ribs and sausage. Star of the buffet was their steamed blue crabs. Small in size but packed with meat. Some were way too mushy but others were just great. Make sure to grab them when they first come out. Disappears quite fast. Skip the oysters. Didn't have their sushi either. I stuck with their cooked foods and was satisfied. This is a true feeding frezy buffet. It has the biggest selection of Chinese food in one place that I have ever seen. One of the biggest all you can eat sushi selections in the area. However, this is a buffet place and the quality isn't the best. If you like food quantity, this is your place. If you want quality, save your money and look for another Chinese place. Lots of seating in the dining area (really). Wait Staff are not so friendly though. They argued the number of drinks they were charging us. A family of 4 will get 4 drinks. But because another waiter gave us another drink cup instead of filling the empty one, they argued I need to pay for the extra "drink",(warning: they count cups). The price for the buffet is pretty expensive. If you have a family of 4 or more you may think twice about coming again. WARNING: Again, I want to mention that there is no TUNA or SALMON at the sushi buffet; not sure if there is raw fish served at the sushi section of the buffet at all. I was there today and the place is big and pleasant. first our waitress, Susan was great, smiling and very cheerful, full of energy. As for the food, it didn't taste FRESH. Specially the seasoned Oyster and cooked shrimp. The meat on The crab legs pieces were completed mushy an indication of Staleness. I could not finish it. There was one piece of hair around the Fresh cut lemon. I wish all workers at the restaurant wear hair cover but I know many restaurants in our area do not have that policy. The sushi was good except the seasoned oyster that tasted stale. White Fish was completely tasted State, I could not finish it. Men's bathroom was Ok. No soap at the dispenser, Big block of Paper towels on the sink counter. But it was clean, mean the floor to be honest. it is a great place, I got there lunch time. When I first arrived here, I had to do a double take on the restaurant's name. So is this place hibachi or a buffet or what? For all you misguided or confused folks, this place is a general buffet. It has a certain hibachi aspect to it where you can actually order certain items to be cooked for you by the chefs at one of the food stations.. I guess.. Besides that, for the most part, this place is really just.. a Chinese buffet. We're getting mind f....ed all over the place aren't we? Walking inside, I was surprised and impressed. The decor is nice and clean. The waitresses are whatever. They're doing their jobs. As for the food, its either a hit or a miss. Some of the items are actually really good and some are just.. no. I appreciate the variety they provide though. However.. the food gave me FOOD POISONING. I spent the rest of my day with a bad upset stomach and everything I ate coming out my rear in abnormal forms (hint hint). To my knowledge I was the only one out of my party of 12 people that acquired this poisoning.. I was also the only person who ate the mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes! Now I'm not exactly sure if that was the real culprit but it's a start. Regardless, I got food poisoning. I have no weak stomach (at least when it comes to food) so, let this be a warning to any of ya'll who are planning on going here - Prepare the pepto-bismol. Also, the dessert just plain out sucked. Almost perfect! I'm on vacation few days in DC, After visiting the Air & Space Museum Yelp show this place in the near me list. It's a Clean and Big place. It's in a Shooping Center so there's a lot of parking. I visited many All You Can Buffets and this is what I expect and MUCH MORE. Soups, deserts, meats, fish, Seafood, lowmein (noodles) and even SUSHI. Why almost? Because temperature of food is not as hot like some people prefer. But I think that's a general buffet problem. I was at the restaurant for Lunch today, I saw the reviews on Yelp, looked like a hit or miss thing for many. The buffet was large, lot of items to choose from, sushi, appetizers, seafood, all-you-can-eat. The Hibachi is more of a mongolian style hot plate which they cook on here, not the regular Hibachi where you sit around the table and the chef cooks the meal. They should have named it differently. Coming to food, the sushi was really fresh and did have salmon unlike many complained, again maybe a hit or miss thing, but yes, there was cream cheese in some of the 'veggie' sushi kinda stuff, on the whole I should say it was pretty good. The seafood had Baked Tilapia, , mussels, Coconut Shrimp, some other shrimp :)... bourbon chicken, kung pao, broccoli beef, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes....... and the list goes on The Hibachi/Mongolian style grill was veryyyy gooood, you can chose the veggies,eggs and meat and the chef cooks the way you want it, spicy or non-spicy and the sauces you want to add in there, he got my full marks for sure. My wife and I have eaten here a few times over the last couple of years and it seems to be hit or miss. Last night was a hit. We were there at about 6 pm on a Sunday and it seemed to be the right time for plentiful and hot food. The sushi selections were a little bit lacking though. Mostly americanized chinese food on the buffet but with a couple of additions like mussels and crawfish, that you don't typically get at a lot of other chinese buffets, that makes this one stand out. The other stand out is the hibachi grill option. It can get a little backed up but it is worth the wait for your own fresh, hot, creation right off the grill. We have been in the past when the hibachi was not open or where they were not replacing buffet items. We learned that the kitchen closes an hour before the restaurant does. Meaning if you show up within about 90 minutes of closing time, you will only get the leftovers on the buffet line. Service is good at getting your drinks initially and clearing plates but it is hard to get their attention otherwise. read more

Went back here with my sister's family for dinner. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. They have crabs(steamed and fried), oyster, steamed clams, primerib, and a few other dishes. For the price, it's pretty good. Dinner is $14.99. Not sure how the other reviewer got charge $17 - $21. Since this is down the street from my mother's place, I can see coming back here for dinner only, not lunch. This place will do well eventually because it's right across from Lotte grocery.
