If you enjoy being uncomfortably full for 45 minutes but then hungry again after 2 hours, this is definitely the place for you! People need to remember that it is a buffet, and it is not going to be anything close to gourmet. Once you have gotten beyond that fact, then look into the other fact that for $8 during lunch, you can eat WAY more than even $12 would get you from a takeout place. Why would you expect it to be anything more than special? Oh wait, this place is! The food here is delicious for a buffet! There are so many different options, and you can even get something made on the Hibachi! The sushi here is lackluster at times, but there are a few really good rolls that make their way up there sometimes! My only question to the restaurant is... why do 80% of your sushi rolls have cream cheese in them..? Weird! Being able to get wine or beer with your meal is a definite plus for me, and the fact that the waitresses are on top of their tables as far as drink service goes is quite nice! I never had to ask for another drink to be brought out, or for plates to be cleared. Customer service was great, the food was delicious, and I can even forgive them for the freezing cold bathroom (like... I would love to have a heater in the bathroom or something). For $9.75 for a Thursday lunch including beverage this place was okay - it's what you would expect for a place like this. They had a surprisingly amount of variety. The place is sizable and clean, the staff here is friendly, the hostess dresses nicely, they have plasma TVs strung up but not on (at least on a Thurs afternoon), and food is almost always being restocked - the sushi takes a little longer. They also have a mongolian station that I didn't try out - where you can choose your ingredients (veggies, meat, possibly sauces) and they will cook it for you so you get it piping hot. I try to eat healthy and get my family to eat healthy, so while I love Chinese food, there is always a degree of guilt I feel after I take my family out for some Chinese. This place is different. Very different. It's clean. It has great food. Their hot-and-sour soup tastes positively homemade. I loved their Japanese chicken. The sushi is of an expensive supermarket quality, if not better. My kids - 5, 3, and 2 - ate a lot and loved it. The desserts are varied. Fruits are fresh. And all of this goodness was very inexpensive. Took a walk on down one evening to check it out. The first thing the greeter/host asks, "Have you been here before?" "No" I reply. He suggests that I take a gander first. How thoughtful! Hibachi grill was fabulous, did grab a scoop of white rice to accompany it though. Sushi bar, was adequate and had interesting options like sushi pizza and a tornado. The salad and fruit bar was quite extensive, but few fresh options. I was here for a midweek late dinner. There's the usual range of American Chinese foods such as sweet and sour chicken and broccoli and beef. All these are rather bland and boring. However step away from those and you'll find a great range of seafood dishes like salt and pepper calamari, multiple shrimp dishes and even cod and salmon. The sushi wasn't anything special but good for a $10 buffet. There's even a Mongolian type buffet where you choose your food and it's cooked on a grill for you. My only complaint is that a lot of the food was lukewarm which for a buffet makes me nervous. I wanted to try some other dishes but didn't want to risk it. I'm not saying there was anything wrong, it just didn't inspire confidence. Maybe I need to arrive earlier. Finally I don't know if it was coincidence but all the best food had Chinese labels as well as English ones so look out for those. read more

They had lots of variety, a very friendly staff and very clean establishment! After happy hour with coworkers, I just wanted a lot of greasy chinese food. I ended up here. The steam table with the seafood (mussels, clams, fried fish, etc.) was actually decent. Stay away from the chinese stir-fry. The sushi were alright but we came like at 9pm at night so the rice was drier than usual. Service was great. They came around to collect plates and refill water every few minutes, adding fuel to my binge eating. In order to get to our seats between the table and the food troths (because we're piggies), we had to walk in between this narrow walkway and the waitresses hub. It's pretty awkward and poorly planned. The hibachi was super mediocre. You get to put your own meat and vegetables in a bowl for them to cook. The meat was this frozen slab that you tried to peel pieces off of. I'd get the mongolian sauce to add some type of flavor to it. The sushi was a big ol bust with old, dried rice and brown avocados. They place one piece of nigiri at a time so people can stack up on sushi. God forbid people eat too much food at a buffet. Everything else isn't worth mentioning. Besides the birthday song. What is the birthday song? It's when the 80's elementary PA system crackles LOUDLY and this weird chuck-e-cheese reminiscent birthday song is played over it. Your standard chinese-american items were a mixed bag: some of the chicken was okay, some of it was lousy. Rice was good, noodles were not. Fried shrimp good, seafood delight bad. I am a connoisseur of the cheap Americanized Chinese food category, and I especially love all-you-can-eat buffets. Even if you don't like Chinese food, they have buffalo chicken wings and potato wedges on the buffet! Heck, I would pay the 9 bucks just for all-you-can-eat wings and wedges! Beyond that, their classic selections each had good, unique flavors. The spicy chicken, orange chicken, and sweet and sour, were all on-point. The girls that waited on me were super friendly too, my lemonade was never empty and they brought me extra napkins before I even started eating, didn't even have to ask! The deserts didn't really do much for me, but I was already stuffed from chicken, fried rice, green beans, cream cheese wontons, buffalo wings, and tater wedges by then, so who cares right? I don't compare restaurants to places in other categories for my rating, so as far as Chinese buffets I've been to, this is the best I've had in a long time, and probably about as good as it gets. Come here often enough that the servers know our faces, food is excellent. Any reviews to the contrary probably came between rushes. Come right when they open or right by dinner time and everything is fresh. If you come on a Sunday it's always packed but the food is great and constantly warm from rotation. Thus, we ended up at Hibachi Buffet. I was skeptical but was totally sold once I saw they offered Sushi. I have NEVER been to a Chinese buffet that offered sushi before. The buffet line up was pretty standard, and the hot food was decent. The sushi was good. Fresh made, the sushi chefs were standing behind the island making new rolls all the time. I ate like 6 pieces and then had some chicken and veggies. I didn't but could have had dessert too. It was pretty cheap per person so I say that is a pretty good deal. I wish they had one in Chicago. We live nearby, so we decided to try the buffet. Having read mixed reviews, I wasn't too eager to come, ( I stick to Benihana's because they haven't ever disappointed! ) However, here we are.. Walk in, get the "do you want to look around before you decide to eat here" question I read about in the reviews, and say no.. Sit down in a booth - still sopping wet from wiping - and wait for my Fiancé to take the kids around to get the food. (I wait with our coats and my purse). The kids liked the rice, fried chicken, and the red chicken on a stick.. Or whatever. The hibachi sauce - awful. I was extremely disappointed.. Fried rice was just as bad.. I was looking forward to trying the sushi they had out.. So I did. I disliked everything I tried! The only one remotely tasteful, was the tempura rice roll.. So after a few more bites of awfulness, I tempted to try the fried sweet rolls (like a sugar donut) to redeem my poor, sad tastebuds. I will say the service was mediocre, and the people working were very kind. The food kept coming and out warmish, but somehow seemed to get cold as soon as I sat down.. I would never ever recommend anyone coming here to have a hibachi / Japanese meal. I'll be going out AGAIN for another Hibachi meal tonight, but this time I won't make the same mistake of letting my fiancé choose the place. My family went to Hibachi after reading several positive diner reviews and we will return! The place was clean and well managed; the food was well prepared- lots of choices! I watched as someone was making the sushi behind the sushi-island, so I knew it had just been prepared. The sushi tasted good but if you want the best sushi go to a sushi restraunts. My family enjoyed the clams, mussels, cheesy crab bake, octopus, and several different kinds of shrimp, and fish. I don't recommend the crab legs- they were over cooked. There were several types of fresh fruit and desserts- we were delighted to have lychee gelatin! I saw seaweed salad that I was too full to try that day but I will have when we go again. This family is very health focused so we avoided the fried dishes with sauce. Almost forgot to mention the hibachi was delicious with 3 choices of sauce; we had the ginger, which was fab! read more

Love this place. I've been to many buffet places in the city, Hibachi has the most selection. I like asian style seafood (fish w/ heads) and freshly made stir fry vegetables. There are American food for children and their Sushi was surprisingly good, even better than most Japanese restaurants in town. Like any buffets there are drawback, like lukewarm food. What a great deal! The service is quick and reminds me of a Nike factory where they want to get you in and out as quick as possible but for the price, I'll pretend I'm a sneaker. There are tons of options and even at 4pm on a Sunday the place is full so the dishes are hot and replaced often! This place is really a fantastic value for the price. Most days, I will take sushi over just about any other food. As you can imagine, buffets that include ample sushi options are always good in my book. I've been to buffets that had significantly better sushi than Hibachi Buffet, but I've never been to one that was so inexpensive, had so many non-sushi food options (four long buffet tables full), also had a hibachi grill, and was so clean! I have been to many Asian restaurants, and quite a few Buffet Style, but this is by far the epitome of Asian Buffet restaurants. The food is priced right, they have plenty of food for the non pork eaters, their Sushi bar is to die for from what I heard from friends that I took to this establishment, and the staff is very attentive and friendly. I do want to start by saying this restaurant became a smash hit by word of mouth only, no advertising, because the manager said they wanted to keep the food fresh, and they have done an excellent job of accomplishing that. Also they have a huge fruit bar, salad bar is full of goodies. But the thing I have to have when i go to this wonderful establishment, is the Hibachi, I love how they allow you to pick what you want the chef to make right in front of you, they have a nice variety to choose from, Chicken, and the Shrimp is only served for dinner, but all sorts of noodles, and a few other items. If I didn't know any better I would think this was planned for many years because of how successful it is, and I just cant get enough of it. The place looked very clean, and I pretty much liked everything there was to eat. There was one chicken dish, which the name I forget, that I didn't really like too much. It's wasn't gross or anything; it just wasn't my cup of tea. The sushi was fine, and it seemed fresh. I was really taken aback by some of their more specialty/exotic dishes like the crayfish and the octopus. Oh, and the staff was really friendly; something that's not always the case at all buffets. Was it the best Chinese food I've ever had? No. Was I able to gorge myself beyond belief with slightly above average Chinese food at a near unbeatable price per calorie? Hell yes. I'm a stickler for good Chinese. We all know, buffets are not the best places to find premium Chinese and I would say that Hibachi is definitely on par with this sentiment... but the food is generally good enough for its value and it comes out consistent enough! They have a wonderful sushi and hibachi grill and a great salad bar! The real thing that gels it all together and keeps me going there almost twice a week in between classes on the weekdays is the ladies who serve and even the cooks there are really wonderful people and even though at first, they were kind of smug... we've all grown on each other and now I know most of the folks by first name basis and they're a very laid back and positive bunch! Kind of like going to the bar... I don't go to drink/eat - I go to see the people and then eat. If you go enough times and tip properly, you'll make some new friends. I used to go there all the time multiple times a week but yet they always act like my first visit staring all hard. Broccoli always brown and chicken wing bones always break in your mouth.
