Food is great but the biggest issue is the staff, specifically the team "lead" Kathleen. Previous times when I've gone here she has no manners, stingy with giving customers sauces, & overall rude. Unfortunately today was the worst experience and I will not be coming back. I ordered a 3 side plate, which comes with 3 entrees & one main side. They typically put 2 in the styrofoam box and one on the side. When I asked her to put one entree in a smaller container, she went ahead & scooped in the box, & said "I won't do that". I then said she "can keep it then b*tch". I was wrong for cursing at her, but if the shoe fits... The attitude is unacceptable. I then left and told my husband. My husband was very upset and went back to the counter and asked for a manager. This employee was a different one than Kathleen. She lied and said there was no manager on duty at all, only a team lead, who conveniently is Kathleen. Then when Kathleen emerges from the back & speaks to the other employee she heads toward us. When speaking to my husband & I she stood with her arms crossed, rolling eyes, and not making eye contact. All body language that insinuates you do not care. The only constructive thing she said was that Hibachi San does separate the entrees & her manager Tony will be back in 30 minutes. The other nonsense she said included saying to my husband "I'm sorry that you believe her" & "I didn't say that I wouldn't do that" so blatant lies. Like I said the food is great, the service is terrible. Prior to this encounter she had helped me before with the same dry, bland, attitude. She needs to find a new job, one that she actually can smile at once in a while. read more

This restaurant is inside the mall (Sugarloaf Mills) and has been there for years. The service is typically decent and really fast. I came here as a teenager and it was always really good, but came back a few years ago and it was terrible. The food was old and dry and just bad. However, we visited on Monday and it was delicious. If you're a saucy person ask for teriyaki sauce on the rice . The plate in the video is a 2 meat plate and I can never finish all of it! read more

Absolutely awful! Better off to eat at panda express next door. Food used to be great but not anymore. Last meal tasted like it had been sitting for days. Watched a worker pick her nose and eat it. Asked for a refill on my $3 soda which was 3/4 ice to begin with. Snotty worker to me no free refill. I said fine i will pay again. Then told the register is closed but you can buy one next door at panda. Over $30 for 2 awful meals with crap service and bad attitudes plus a booger eating worker. I dont think so - never again!! I went into the restaurant today and have gone weekly for months and years always had a good experience. Today the food was terrible the noodles were stuck to the Pan and old. They tried to upcharge me an additional $25 because I ordered beef with vegetables.. I asked to speak to the manager Tony he refused To Do anything and didn't seem very concerned.. There are no free samples anymore so you can't try the food.. I will never go back the food was nasty old and I wound up throwing it away. Please take your business elsewhere. Hibachi-San Japanese Grill is arguably the best restaurant inside the Sugarloaf Mills food court. Out of all the mall food court Japanese grill restaurants I've tried nationwide (e.g. Sarku Japan at Lenox Square), Hibachi-San has the best chicken in terms of taste, quality, and consistency. Hibachi-San is owned by the Panda Restaurant Group (Panda Express). There are about 30 locations around the U.S. This is the only location in Georgia. The restaurant is set up like a typical mall food court Asian eatery. Hot foods sit on display behind a protective glass barrier and you point and pick out the foods you want, which are placed into compartmentalized, disposable boxes. Like some other food court eateries, Hibachi-San's large grill is viewable behind the counter so customers can see the meats being freshly grilled. It smells good. The popular items here are the 3-entree plate ($8.19), 2-entree plate ($6.99), and hibachi bowl ($6.29). In additional, Hibachi-San also sells simple sushi and rolls (e.g. spicy tuna and California rolls) along with appetizer-type items like spring rolls and potstickers. The restaurant is popular so foods get turned over quick and new items are constantly being cooked up. I'm a fan of the teriyaki chicken and the spicy honey chicken. Both are good stuff. The spicy honey chicken has more flavor and is a bit crispier than the teriyaki chicken. Regardless of flavor, the chicken is consistently tender and appropriately seasoned. The owners of this chain have it down to a science. It's impressive how tasty and juicy each piece of chicken is. And all at a good value. Sides I like to get include the lo mein noodles and vegetables (broccoli, carrots, cabbage). The veggies are fresh, healthy, and aren't drowning in unnecessary sauce. Service is speedy. If you like spicy food, ask for packets of hot sauce. They use Lee Kum Kee Sriracha hot sauce, which tastes nothing like the "real" Sriracha sauce. read more

I must admit Hibachi San used to be one of my favorites spots to eat at, Until recently. Over the past years I've noticed the food quality go down the hill. They have a grill in the front where you can see chicken cooking, which leads you to think you're receiving fresh food. When you actually eat your food, everything tastes old and reheated. Or maybe it's been sitting all the day. The fresh food is being saved for later, not being served immediately! A couple hours after eating my chicken and fried rice, I started getting super sick. I had to stay out of work the next day due to throwing up all night. I would avoid this place with all caution!! Don't risk it. I waited in a line for 15 mins to receive gross food. i normally would not eat anything Panda Express or basically fake chinese food. i'm from new york so i know what's chinese and as an asian myself i'm quite aware what's good. Hibachi san has some of the best teriyaki chicken and the low mein which they use tangy and bouncy udon noodles are some of the best. i always get their low mein. It's funny. My boyfriend is pretty picky when it comes to food, but he literally loves places like this where I'm just kinda going...yeah, it's like 3 stars for me, and he's looking at me like I'm cray cray. So he's a huge hibachi eater, and so this was already gonna be a winner I feel like. He said he used to eat here all the time. We got the teriyaki chicken with veggies and white rice. The chicken actually didn't taste that bad. I mean, it was decent, but I left soooo thirsty! They had some wasabi chicken and spicy chicken, but he can't do either, so we just got the teriyaki. I will say it's not overly greasy, it's not overly pricey for mall food, and you get a decent sized portion. I mean, we didn't even finish it, and we both can throw down some food when we are hungry. So overall, I am giving it three stars. I'm never going to seek this place out ever, but I'd be willing to come back if #1 I'm at this mall and #2 I'm pretty hungry and #3 I'm with my boyfriend, because he will probably make it eat it again. Haha. They have sushi here too, but I'm skeptical of sushi in a mall. I'd say for mall food, this ain't bad. Won't tip the scales on your AMEX, and it won't leave you feeling like a fatty. Oh! And I did forget to mention the best part of it was honestly the vegetable spring roll, not overly fried, and not overly breaded, two things I can't stand. Okay, wrap your brain around the idea that sometimes, SOMEtimes, you can get solid quality food in malls. Can't do it? Hop on in the car then and pay Hibachi San a visit. Located in the food court of Sugarloaf Mills, I've been here a few times before, and feel comfortable writing a review because every dish I ordered has been tasty and what I was looking for. Located right next to Panda express (and looking very similar to panda), one of their most popular dishes is the 2 entree deal, pretty standard selection of rice (fried, steamed), Lo Mein, or veggies, and two meats of your choice. I got fried rice, along with the Honey spicy chicken, and Teriyaki lime chicken ($6.99). The honey spicy chicken, i'll be honest, wasn't spicy at all, as in did you forget my spicy? But the honey flavor wasn't super sweet, and the chicken was tender and moist. The Teriyaki lime chicken was pretty similar, i.e. did you forget the lime in my teriyaki lime? But the teriyaki flavor, and chicken overall were solid. The fried rice wasn't the star of the dish, and I think they know that, but still, I enjoyed it. Just like panda, if you don't know what you like, they do offer "try it before you buy it" samples, which helps out when you're on the fence, but unlike other asian eateries in malls, they don't yell at you and push free samples off on you, so no pressure. Look, it's 7 bucks, it's not coating your tongue in grease, and the chicken, both in serving size and quality, are solid, and worth the price of admission. This is the best mall chinese food I've ever had. OK, so it's still mall chinese fast food, but it's good. I've eaten here a bunch, but I always get the same thing - teryaki chicken with fried rice. The chicken is whole chicken breasts that they grill and slice right in front of you. The meat quality is very good compared to similar joints. It's tender, moist, and the sauce is good. Quick, cheap, yummy meal. 2 Entrees + Steamed Rice, Fried Rice, or Lo Mein is $6.99. What a steal! The hibachi bowl is $6.29? (Not sure how much it is but pretty sure it's under $6.99) Fried rice - Good, perfectly cooked. Seasoning was okay. Not overly done & not bland. The grains seem a little bit bigger than other asian spots tho, which is good. Lo Mein - Flavor was good. But the noodles are shorter than other lo meins and sometimes overcooked. Teryaki Chicken - Huge portion! They really don't skimp on the meat here. It's grilled to perfection. Tender & moist. The seasoning is just right. The teriyaki sauce may be too sweet for most people though. I always ask for sauce over my chicken & rice. So good! Spicy Honey Chicken - Oh my! Definitely my fave! It's sweet & savory with a kick. Sweet & spicy. Yum! Just simply delicious! Wasabi Chicken - It's just like the Spicy Honey Chicken except less sweet; and it's cooked with jalapenos & a few veggies. Just as good. Steamed Veggies - Cabbage, Broccoli, & Carrots. No seasoning on them, just simple, steamed veggies. Cooked perfectly. Not overly done. Still has a slight crunch to them, which I like and prefer. They also offer sushi (spicy tuna roll, California roll, & a couple more). Pretty basic rolls. The rolls are about $5.49 alone & $3.99 if you add it with your meal. I have yet to try their rolls though...reason being that they're just too basic. One free refill on fountain drinks. Service - Very quick & efficient. The line can be as long as 10-15 people at once. But that still doesn't slow them down. They can get the line down in no time at all, which is really good when all you want is a quick meal to go. The employees are always very friendly. Too many folks up front actually cause inefficiency. Got my order wrong and charged me more than I anticipated. I shall not visit this place ever again.
