I do have a soft spot for ice cream, more specifically frozen custard. So when I saw that Hibbard's had frozen custard we just had to stop. I ordered a chocolate (I know, boring to some) but it's my go-to flavor for custard. I always, when possible ordera cone, upside down in a cup. Less chance of spills. This was amazing. I had the pistachio custard. They only have a select amount of flavors they make each day or you can get the premade pints. The flavor was impeccable and it wasn't overly sweet. Definitely worth the try while in town. A small was almost $6. There is some seating around outside or in the park across the street. The staff are young and decently friendly. read more

Typically, ice cream stands use a pre-made mixture and pour it into machines, so I was intrigued by the concept of custard made by hand. They have seven custard flavors every day (four staples, and three from their rotating menu) and a lineup of hard scooped ice cream. I opted for vanilla brownie with rainbow sprinkles, my boyfriend went for the black raspberry. Mine was some of the best custard I've had around WNY! The vanilla flavor was so rich and the brownie bites mixed throughout were a nice, chocolatey balance. And, of course, the sprinkles were good too. There were only about six soft serve flavors to choose from (and the harder ice cream was from Perry's). Went here last night, and boy, what a classic ice cream joint, I am hooked! They have a private parking lot so it was easy to get to the place. We walked up to the window and the girls were super friendly. They have three sizes for their famous frozen custard; we order the large (under $5) which allows for up to 3 flavors. We tried the raspberry, vanilla, and chocolate--and they give you a lot! The raspberry and chocolate were so tasty with outstanding mild flavors. The vanilla didn't have much taste to it. We were really impressed how all of the frozen custard flavors has an excellent chewiness to it, and no poor aftertaste. There are tables directly to the right of the place where you can eat at. Hibbard's Custard is so rich and creamy! This was my first time there and I noticed they offered puppy cups and the millennial in me needed to get my dog some ice cream since he is the best boy. I have been familiar with Hubbard's but I never stopped by to try it. A few coworkers were shocked when I said I'd never tried the place before. They kept ranting and raving about the peach cheesecake custard. So, I made it my duty to make sure I tried it. I Hibbard's on social media and waited for them to post it as one of the flavors of the day. It finally came around after a month of waiting and I couldn't be more excited. I called them up and asked for two pints to be put on hold until after I got out of work and they gladly obliged. I was happy to pick up my pints immediately after work. They were worth every penny. I now understand why everyone raved about the custard but specifically the peach cheesecake. It was absolutely amazing. I loved every single bite. I'm glad I got two pints. My boyfriend and I dusted off an entire pint in one sitting. Worth every single calorie. It was the epitome of guilty pleasure. I wish I would have gotten more. It's Hib to be Square. But if you keep feeding me custard this good, you're gonna make me cone in my pants. What to get: Vanilla Custard, Chocolate Custard, Banana Custard. What not to get: A different kind of banana. Not in public anyway. Not at Hibbard's. Why: There are kids here. How to improve: Put a location in Buffalo for us! So the region can see what real custard should taste like. Also do better advertising, get the word out. I'm unin-hibbard-ed, I have absolutely no shame. So there's no shame in saying I was wrong. I thought this custard was decent, average at best. Turns out it's some of the best custard I've had, and certainly my fave in the Buffalo area. And all the flavours are just as good as each other. This review is a lesson to me that I need to keep going back and trying places and re-assessing them, because it took me literally years to give Hibbard's another try, and only when I did, was I able to realize that this is easily, clearly the best custard in the WNY area - probably better than the standouts of Rochester too (LuGia's and Abbott's, the latter of which has 2 Buffalo area locations), and that everyone who likes custard and frozen treats should make the trek north to Lewiston to give this place a try. Service is okay, but the custard is so good, you'll want to expose yourself, at which time the Lewiston Police will show up and take you into custardy. read more
