A summer must stop place. Even though the food is always fresh but basic the views make it taste so much better. We stopped in for a quick bite and as per usual the little yelper got those crispy, golden tenders and fries and missed got the hot dog. One of the benefits of our extended nice weather this year was The Silo Restaurant being open for a few extra weeks. We went this past Sunday, their last day open. It was a beautiful fall day & plenty of people were out enjoying the weather. The ice cream stand closed a few days ago. Their staff, as usual, were super nice & working hard. We enjoyed our favorite, the haystack sandwich. It's filled with delicious rib eye steak, melted cheese, and topped with toasted hash brown potatoes. So good!! Not sure what happened to my picture. I went to the Silo on the fourth to get a hot dog to celebrate with. It is a great place on the Niagara River in Lewiston. There menu has so many great choices it is hard to choose. I had the Footlong Dixie dog with onions bacon BBQ sauce fries and coleslaw on top of the hotdog. It was very messy but very good. Free refills on the drinks. Also they have an ice cream house for desert. Also the restaurant is located on the Niagara River so it is nice to sit and eat and watch the boats go up and down the river. Another trip to the Silo to have a Haystack. It comes in two sizes, large and extra large. We shared one large one, taking one home. It is a nice, but quite messy sandwich as the potato crisps tend to fall off. It is a bit on the salty side, but a very nice once a year treat. read more

We came here early on a Friday evening. Here you order at the register, and get a buzzer to let you know when to pickup your food. A plus for this type of place is they serve beer! I got a burger which was well done, as they routinely do all I guess unless you request something else. The food was fine, but the view was even better! Good find along the river. We took the free Niagara shuttle to get here and our time was excellent. It was a very hot day and we had to carry all our luggage around town after check out. It was an order at the counter type of service but we found a QR code for ordering online. We came during a busy time but had no trouble finding a seat along the water. Staff have it down pat here. Food was hot, place was well kept, and we had no real complaints. I wish their online ordering menu had pictures as it would've been nice to see the portion sizes as we ended up getting a lot of food with the nice size portions. Visited yesterday for dinner as we had a coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free Silo burger. My review is mixed. Got French fries to go with the burger which I thought were very good. The burger was fine but I didn't like the roll as it was too doughy/thick...I did not eat the top half. My husband got a can of beer and when we finished we looked for a recycling bin but couldn't find one...we asked and were told to just throw in the garbage...this was disappointing. We took the can home not so much for the 5 cents but to recycle as we should. This should be corrected...perhaps the cans could be donated to a local charity...just a suggestion!!! read more

The Silo Restaurant is a dog friendly, local favorite serving American food along the lake. The Silo Restaurant is famous for their Haystack, which was invented here. The Haystack is seasoned rib eye steak with melted mozzarella, over toasted hash browns, served on a hoagie roll with mayonnaise. Man v. Food, Adam Richman paid a visit to this restaurant and ate the Haystack. Anyways, with that in mind, we ended up coming here with our little girl dog last Friday, around 4:30 pm for an early dinner since we skipped lunch. An employee, who wasn't very friendly and seemed a bit more annoyed taking our order... we ended up ordering: Grilled Chicken Salad, $14.09 prior to tax- I opted for a healthy meal and decided to get salad. The portion of this salad is good for 2. The salad came with romaine lettuce, sliced cucumbers, shredded carrots, sliced purple onions, a few cherry tomatoes. Dressing comes on the side automatically, I ended up choosing. ranch. The chicken was seasoned and a fair portion. I did like this salad but was disappointed to find some of the lettuce wilted. Footlong Haystack, $18.49 prior to tax- My husband was really hungry so he decided to get the footlong size instead of the 6 inch. The seasoned steak was good and the fried hash browns gave a nice crunch. But served over a hoagie did not work. The bread was too chewy and dry. ----------------------------- (Total= $35.19 after tax) There is plenty of seating with tables and chairs with a lake view. The tables were dirty though, although we did see an employee cleaning one table while we ate at one table. There are also a few swinging benches and other tables further away where you can also sit and still have a view of the lake. Our dining experience wasn't as good as I expected and not sure if I would come back for a meal but would be interested in trying their ice cream if we were visiting Lewiston again. read more

The Silo's famous Hay Stack is wonderful. The "standard" version is definitely shareable as it is quite filling. There is also a footlong version, that sounds shareable for sure. Seasoned rib eye steak and melted mozzarella on a nice roll. Topped with potato sticks (even though the menu says hash browns). Worth a trip to Lewiston. I can't believe I've just visited here for the first time! The Silo is a restaurant right on the water in Lewiston. There is a beautiful view. The restaurant has indoor or outdoor seating. The indoor seating is 360 degrees around looking outwards. There was a large menu with a lot of items to pick from. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and ranch on it. It was great! My husband got the haystack which is a classic. We got a split basket of onion rings and fries with a side of cheese. It was busy so it took a little while to get our food, but that's to be expected on a beautiful day! There is also a spot for ice cream as well. read more

First we picked a gorgeous day for our drive to Lewiston . The Silo is very cool with its history. The staff was super friendly too! We both the haystack sandwiches since they are an original to the Silo. They were very tasty. I got the "stack" on the side. Service: all staff members were very nice. It was our first time here and we asked some questions and the cashier was very nice. The cooks were also very friendly. Food was a solid 4/5. I didn't love the chili dog, but the famous hay stack sandwich was flavorful and delicious! I also really liked the half fries/half onion ring combo. Cheese sauce is good as well! The Haystack is amazing! 'Nuff said. We came here as part of a stop checking out stores in the area. Ordered a hot dog, nachos and the Haystack. the Haystack is advertised as a Man vs Food attraction and we thought it "how special could it be". We were wrong to second guess it. The Haystack is juicy stacked meet that cuts through your tastebud with a punch of savory tender flavor. Topped with crunchy potatoes to add a bit of salt on an Italian bun that is just soft enough to hold everything together. The service is helpful and friendly, but the cart can take some time to make the food. The Haystack is made fresh so when a few people were ahead of us it seemed to take some time for our order to get served but not overwhelmingly long. After going to the whirlpool jet tour, my husband & I went to the closest restaurant that looked like it had decent vegetarian options. We were pleasantly surprised at how awesome the haystacks sandwiches tasted. Just letting you know it is not actually hash brown they use it's potato sticks. Potato sticks gives a good crunch. The ice cream booth in front was also amazing & had great flavors (Perry's Ice cream). We had the Buffalo Tornado blended ice cream which was a new item that was unique with fun mix-ins. This place has a great view with balcony seating over looking the river. Bathrooms could use some help. Ordered, got our buzzer and our 3 sandwiches, hot dog, and fries were ready very quickly. My chicken sandwich was very good. Chicken was perfectly cooked and large. The burgers were also cooked just right. As was the hot dog. Regular fries were really enough for 3 people!! For what it is, the Silo met my expectations. The only ding was that the men's room had a bunch of cob webs at eye level. That's an easy fix but it just made the men's room feel not as clean as it could feel. read more

The service is hit or miss sometimes and the quality of some items depends on the day but the views are worth it no matter what you get. The vegetarian sandwich was pretty good. But $42 for a fish and a sandwich is not right. However, the french fries were very good. I've had other items on the menu and they were good. I'd stay away from the Fish. There are a few very nice restaurants in the Village that have excellent fish! Not Silo. Stick to the hamburgers and their specialty "Haystack". Lunch on the second day (Day 2, Meal 2) of our Western New York family vacation was Silo Restaurant. Arriving just after noon on a Tuesday, we were prepared to wait forever due to the lunch rush, but the line at the order counter moved surprisingly quickly. Looking at the menu, our pollo-vegetarian was especially appreciative of Silo's large number of veggie options. Since we had just finished breakfast three hours prior, we ordered a medium-sized selection of items, plus five fountain drinks. With tax, our bill totaled $63.92, which was definitely on the pricey side considering how much we ordered. With their pager in hand, we went in search of a table. By sheer luck, our family of five snagged two 4-person tables on the outside of the deck ringing the original industrial silo. As others have noted in numerous reviews, the restaurant offered spectacular views of the river, and our tables afforded outstanding panoramas of the Niagara Gorge below. While waiting on our food, we explored the different drink options available at the well-stocked soda fountain. The kids and I were very tickled to find a loganberry drink on tap! Since the food seemed to take a while, I decided to take a pitstop to the mens room, but had to ask the staff for directions; the door to the restroom was actually hidden behind a door behind the line of people waiting to place their orders. While the restroom itself was large, well-stocked, and pretty clean, it honestly reminded me of being on the inside of a concrete mausoleum. At long last, our pager went off and we proceeded to the pickup window to get our order. The food looked outstanding, and clearly the kitchen displayed a rare attention to detail on the presentation! Digging in with gusto, everyone agreed the food was very good. Personally, I found my Dixie Dog to be excellent, with the salty of the bacon contrasting perfectly with the sweet of the coleslaw and the tang of the BBQ sauce. PROS: excellent food that had a great presentation, unique atmosphere, outstanding views, local flavours on tap at the soda fountain CONS: pricy, not very fast Overall we rate Silo Restaurant as being Very Good, and would absolutely return if we were in the area again. read more

Beautiful setting, but that ends the good part of the review. This is basically boardwalk fastish food. Fries-not hot; hot dog on a cold roll. Haystack sandwich had good flavors, but all served in disposable paper boats. We had much better in downtown niagara at a food truck. And that was cheaper. Bathrooms were filthy, and when we asked to have our table cleaned, the employee brought out a dripping wet rag, wiped the table and walked away. We had to get piles of napkins to dry it. What a stunning location! I have really been sleeping in Lewiston even though I only live 30 minutes away! This place really caught my eye because I was looking for a quick bite and a nice view with my meal.
