We were seated in the bar. We did not order alcohol (my husband thinks that is the reason for our distracted service). Waitress was friendly, but not paying attention to our order and not checking on us in a timely fashion. She forgot lemon for the tea and didn't check back with us. Iced tea was filled to the brim - no sugar, etc. I would not be writing this review if it was just about the waitress. I ordered the salmon (with julienne veggies). I requested that it be blackened (I have had exactly this before). It arrived without anything, but the salmon on the plate. I asked the delivery person about the veggies. She was very defensive and said since I had changed the menu, they forgot the veggies which was certainly easy to understand. (Yikes!). We said ok. Not a problem and she brought them later. The salmon, even with blackening, was completely tasteless (probably too old), but we trudged on. Not a good experience and we don't come here often - our past experience has been off and on. OK... Feeling a little snobbish on this one, though I suspect at this locality, this probably falls under the banner of fine dining. Made me think of a locally owned Outback Steakhouse in that it's been a while since I've been to a restaurant where the main event was a big plate of meat and potatoes. I had the lamb chops, which were actually pretty moist and flavorful. The red-skinned mashed potatoes were OK; the zucchini was just plain uninspiring! They had a wine list of, shall we say, of limited proportions (just not quite a wine and cheese sort of place) and our server was borderline surly in her efforts for efficiency. All I can saw is wow. We came into town for a funeral. For 3 days, I and my family met at dinner time after visiting other relatives, etc. Each night, we had a large party - from 6-12 people. I'm sorry at the moment, I can't remember the hostesses name that helped us. She was sooooooo helpful, even when the restaurant was packed. I'm not sure why it only has 3 stars. Every night, everyone in our party loved their food. From fried fish sandwiches, to hamburgers, to sweet fries, beer flights, peanut butter pie, hoho cake. I just can't say enough. Overall, a really solid place. I would come back again. The decor was rustic and had a mix of Irish pub too. I had the filet and it was cooked well and also seasoned very well. My family came in yesterday before going to Kraynax, and I was not sure what to expect at the time of walking in. The front parking lot looked packed, but we were seated immediately and the server was impeccable. She never let my water go empty, and she was quick to take our orders. We got a pretzel as an appetizer, I had the reuben with chips instead of fries, my mom had the French Dip with fries, and my grandmother had the fish with fries. The pretzel was pretty standard, just a soft pretzel with spicy cheese on the side. The only complaint that I had was that it was over-salted. We were absolutely delighted with our sandwiches. The reuben was nice and warm, and the corned beef was delicious. The chips came with ranch, and they were delicious when you dipped them in them. However, after a while, the seasoning on the chips got to be overwhelming, and they were extremely salty. My mom and grandma both told me that their sandwiches were great, but the fries were extremely bland. Overall, we really enjoyed eating here and will most likely be coming back. read more

Just finished eating here with a large group (about 20 people) and everything was amazing. We were probably every restaurant's worst nightmare in terms of groups (all had weird dietary requirements, changed the number of people in our party multiple times, all separate checks....really the worst) but both of our servers were so patient and wonderful. My family and I used to enjoy coming to Hickory Bar & Grille. The food used to always be good but has really gone down hill over the past few years. We are even disappointed in the management. When the manager came to check on the table she was very rude and snippy. Every time we come in and she is working there is a negative atmosphere in the building with the way she treats the servers we have even watched her scream at few different servers on many occasions. I believe the managers name was Tamela. As I know many people have had problems with her. We used to enjoy coming here but over the past couple of years she has really turned the place upside down. I am very disappointed. I wish this place could get back to their welcoming atmosphere! read more

Dinner here has been very tasty. Our service lately has been excellent. I miss some items from the previous menu and find it difficult to find new favorites. Prices are fair for the area. The staff is very friendly and even when an issue arises they deal with it very professionally. We usually show up late and close to closing time and have not been turned away yet. Hopefully that trend will continue. You should try to stop here if you are nearby, you should find something on the menu that you will like. read more

Great dining experience!! Our server, Sienna, was friendly, quick and made great recommendations. We had the ribs - and boy were they filling!!! My mom and I stopped here for lunch after an appointment. What a wonderful surprise! The service was excellent...from being greeted and seated immediately upon walking in, being offered several seating options as my mom had a walker and exemplary service from our waiter. I got the Pittsburgh Stacker which was a unique, delicious sandwich (bbq pork, pierogi and onions on a FRESH pretzel roll). My mom got a 1/2 fish sandwich and it was huge and delicious. We both got the hand-cut fries which were perfectly seasoned and cooked. THEN we tried dessert...oh my goodness!!! It was hard to pick but we shared a piece of peanut butter pie....simply incredible with a unique oatmeal crust! The waiter told us that all desserts are made fresh each morning!! This restaurant is the epitome of class in the Shenango valley!!!! I rate it 5 stars because of the unique entrees and the specials menu which is updated everyday. Also, healthy salad options such as the "power salad" with kale and apple's and a maple dressing which is to die for!! The happy hour appetizer special from 4-6 is a real bargain for such quality food!!! I really also love the dessert tray which is different on a weekly basis! This place is hit or miss. The recently added Prime Rib night on Wednesday's was a welcomed surprise. Recently had 2 burgers for take out. Probably the worst burgers I have ever had. The end of a long day of driving as we head home to NH we thought we would have a nice dinner at this restaurant recommended by the young woman at our hotel. There was no wait and we were seated near the kitchen. My husband ordered a wine and I a club soda with Roses lime juice. We chose a simple meal of Caesar salad with chicken and I ordered a bun less black and bleu burger done medium, sweet potato fries and the veg of the day: squash and green beans. The drinks came quickly and the food soon after. Hubbies salad was just okay, barely dressed. My hamburger was raw. I waited for the waitress to return and told her that my hamburger was raw. Her response was "I told them medium". No apologies. I didn't notice when this happened but someone probably our server filled my club soda and Roses up with water thus ruining my drink. The veg of the day had winter squash cooked unevenly with tough and dried out green beans still with stems on them. My husband finished his salad before my meal returned delivered by another server who said she wanted me to "check to see if was to my liking". Again no apologies. No reduction in cost, no manager checking to make sure everything was ok...nothing...maybe it was just a very bad night but this is definitely on the top of my list of worst restaurant experiences. read more

We were looking for a place to get some decent food and drink while stopping for the night on a roadtrip from NJ to OH. The place was clean and busy and smelled delicious from the outside. My partner in crime and I sat at the bar (warning - sitting near the kitchen end of the bar can get a bit noisy due to their busyness, so I'd recommend you sit further down the bar). The food: The menu was extensive, but the smell of the ribs got us when we pulled in, so we both ordered 1/2 rack of ribs, baked potato and dinner salad. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone and loaded with sauce - just like I like them. We did notice that many people at the bar were ordering dessert - it seemed to be a big hit - but we weren't in the mood for anything sweet that night. Overall experience: The bartenders were great - they offered to let us try different tap beers so we could hone in on what we liked best. The customers were just as gracious - hats off to the nice couple that bought us a round (or 2) of drinks ;) We will definitely stop by again next time we're passing thru! read more

I Had the Sammy.(meatloaf sandwich). The meatloaf was black on one side, on one slice of toast topped with ice cold mashed potatoes and gravy. the flatbread bread was soggy. The greens and beans soup was good,as with iron bridge and rachels, their soups are always good.You wouldnt know the Hickory Grill was owned by the Spring field Group.
