For the most part it's a sports bar with sports bar food. Normally I get the Smokehouse burger which is very good. Tonight, I changed things up a bit and ordered the steak tacos. It was OK, but I will stick to the Smokehouse next time. Went early 530pm, no crowd and ate outside. Very comfortable. Service was satisfactory. After a day of work just to get a quick bite of no fast food, Hickory Tavern works for me. read more

My family and I (7 of us total) went there today specifically for the Saints versus Panthers game. Even though the place was packed, our server, Natalia, was awesome! The manager, Josh, also stopped by several times to make sure things were going well. The place is clean and the food is great. Definitely gonna be my go-to on game days. read more

They have macaroni and cheese on the menu as a side, so I decided to give that a shot. I'm not kidding when I say they brought me out a bowl of Kraft mac n cheese. How embarrassing for the waitress to have to bring that out with a straight face to an adult to eat. Absolutely pathetic. You pay a damn arm and a leg to go out to eat these days and you get boxed mac n cheese. Also, they used to bring out a giant plate of tavern chips when you ordered those and now it's just a tiny plate that's not worth it. It took 40 minutes to get our food. Shrimp tacos tasted good but the first time around, they came out cold!! Server never gave me the fries with my meal when she said they would "be right out." Why did I pay $13 for no fries and cold tacos of which I could've made at home tbh. I did not believe the bad reviews I read before going to the Hickory Tavern last night. I was wrong.it was not the food that was bad but the substandard service or lack there of. First of all our server was more interested in the basketball game then waiting on us since he never even looked at us while taking our drink order. He stared at the tv the entire time , took our beer order and came back with water. After a long wait we finally got our drinks. After another long wait he finally came back and asked if we wanted to order food while Still watching the tv. When he realized it was not a simple order and he would have to write it down , he sighed and rolled his eyes and took our order. Food came out eventually and it was good. Problem was we could not get the attention of our server after that. We wanted more drinks so my friend ended up leaving the table and going up to the bar and ordering his own beer. I understand our server was young and wanted to see his team win but he was there to WORK, and he clearly was barely doing that. He did however pay quite a lot of attention to three young females sitting at a table next to us. Will not be going back! We just had a great experience at the Wesley Chapel location. Fast service, friendly waitress, and food was all hot and perfect. We ordered a few smokehouse burgers, chicken tenders, sides of tater tots and roasted brussel sprouts, and everything was delicious (much more "gourmet" than expected for tavern food actually). Came here for the first time today and it was a horrible experience the minute we walked through the door. My husband and I waited a good 7 minutes confused as heck because there was no hostess at the entrance. She was busy talking to another staff member and we couldn't get her attention. We were talking about leaving. When she finally saw us we had to wait again for her to clean a table because she had been too busy talking to staff. Fast forward to the food. It was very bland. Our waiter never once came to check on our table and we needed refills. Let's not forget that we weren't given utensils for our food and had to wait again and ask someone who wasn't our waiter because our waiter never once came to our table . Just overall a horrible experience and it wasn't even a busy night. My plate was also dirty and had a hard yellow crumb stain. My husbands bread tasted old and nasty. Air conditioning was off today during lunch. The heat was unbearable. We would have appreciated being told as we entered that There was no air conditioning. Had dinner here last night with the family. All in all things clicked along well but started off a bit rough. Walking in at 7:00ish on a Friday night I knew we would have a wait so I was prepared. They had run out of the little table indicator/beeper things so I was a little cautious and kept my eye on the host desk to make sure we weren't skipped over, etc. About 20 minutes in I notice a four top that could easily be a five top just sitting there and it kind of got under my skin that we weren't being ushered over to that table but again, the place was slammed and I put my patience gene to work. Once seating (about 40 min) everything wen't very well. The wait staff was quick, and even knew to bring out our youngest one's food first! That's a bonus! I had the black and blue chicken sandwich and it was great. A side of sweet potatoe fries with drizzled honey mustard really set it off. They have a pretty decent bottled beer selection and the drafts are decent too so I'll be back for sure. read more

Three girlfriends and I wanted a close-by spot for a girls' night out so we selected Hickory Tavern. It was a Friday night so we anticipated a wait but quickly found a high-top table in the bar area. The hostesses were not extremely friendly with their greetings but we found seating on our own. Our waitress was attentive and responsive. Appetizers came pretty quickly and so did our first round of drinks. The waitress seemed confused by some questions posed to her and misinformed one of my friends about wing preparation but overall her service was "ok". The spinach and artichoke dip was really good but had a high chip-to-dip ratio. A little larger portion of dip would have been great. Three of us ordered wings which were rather tasty. My customary small Tavern salad was great as always. And the drink special was wonderful, $5 fireball shots (can't ever go wrong with fireball shots). Food was better than the overall service and we will definitely go back to our "neighborhood" spot. read more

This was probably our fourth time to dine at this location. We chose it because we had a giftcard to use for the meal. The food and service has really gone downhill from a year ago. We dined at this location for lunch on 01/22/12 with a table of three adults and four children. After seating us drinks came pretty fast and the server took our order. It took more than 30 minutes to get the appetizer - which we told the server she could bring with the meal. The appetizer of the crab dip was tasty but it was another 15 minute wait for two of the adults to get salads which they ordered as their side dishes for their meal. Finally after an hour we were served food - not fun when you are sitting with four hungry children. I had the BYO salad with Seared Tuna. The salad was only ok, ingredients were not that fresh and the dressing was just bottled Kraft. The tuna was tasteless - don't waste your money adding it to the salad. The other adults had Shrimp Tacos and Colorado Chicken both had neutral feedback. The kids meals were all cold. read more

Server commented that he could bring me a towel so I could clean them with that. Ordered a plain chicken breast with mandarin oranges side for my 4 year old daughter with food allergies. We were charged for an entire adult chicken sandwich (which probably comes with fries or something) $10 (they only brought out a chicken breast and the oranges, which is what we wanted) plus $2 for the oranges. We moved to the area about 7 months ago. Since then, this has been our go-to place since it is close to us, and the food is decent and predictable. Service is always good. Only one time they did not get the hamburger order correct (happens at all places). We've never had an issue here whatsoever. Staff is friendly and we are always greeted with a smile. It is a nice setup inside and family friendly. Some of the booth benches could use some updating (leather is cracking), but otherwise fine. Service is always attentive. Selection is reasonable and prices are fair. Above average in most ways, and food is very good here. read more

I haven't been here in a very long time, mostly due to bad food options and other service-related issues. We decided to give it another try: my daughter ordered a Tavern Burger while I ordered 5 (five? why not 6?) "charred" hot wings. After the food FINALLY came out (charred wings apparently take 10 mins longer than regular wings) all of it was very good. My daughter's burger looked great, however, for the life of me, I don't understand why they sell 5 and 10 count wings as opposed to 6, 12, or 18 count like other restaurants do. I feel that Hickory Tavern's idea is to skimp on 1 wing here and there - it all adds up to savings. Therefore, 0 stars for Hickory Tavern corporation as a whole for not putting the full wing (flat & drum) in the order count, therefore ripping customers off (ya cheap azzes.) 3 stars for the food and our server, Luke, who was very good. read more

We ordered 2 takeout salads, a Fiesta and a Cobb. How hard could that be, right? The chicken was hard as rocks, the bread was stale and the salad tasted old. The flipping bar tenders act like its a chore here and are never personable ... They come off like they work in a bank. Ordered wings to go and asked to have them charred which is a $1 option and was told that next time ask for the option first because she was in such a hurry taking my order got pissed that she had to start over on the register! WTF the menu lists that under the menu item listing then to boot the wings came out and were not even chard they had to send them back to redo them so waited an additional 20 minutes for my food. And when I git home with order wings were undercooked red raw. This place was good when it was locally owed, the bug Corporate bought it and we'll there you go. Money before quality. Well...food is okay and so is service usually but today I went there and paid my bill and my credit card was missing. I was there for quite a while while they looked for it. The manager came back and said they don't have it. They definitely had it whether accidentally or on purpose. That said, very unhappy with the service and how this was handled. First of all I was already revisiting on a gift card from a prior visit to the Sun Valley location and this location was no more impressive I am done with Hickory Tavern! I ordered a chicken quesadilla, Tavern salad, and tater tots. The salad was delicious, the 9.99 chicken quesadilla literally as pictured had 1 chunk of chicken and 3 black beans SERIOUSLY?? My dad order the Tavern burger and salad when his burger came it was cheese burger and bun. He did not order it that way he didn't order anything special, my mom's burger came out fully dressed they got the same thing. We had to ask for his toppings,  Cold french fries. $57 dollars and 95% unsatisfied again. Not worth my time or my money. read more
