I was referred by Baker Off Road to Hicks. I found Hicks to be an awesome repair shop. Honest, timely and very fair. I was given an estimate by a Ford Dealer in Cumming, Ga. I was told my water pump needed replaced. I was so impressed by Hicks that they were so honest. They pressure tested my SUV and stated no leaks were found in the water pump. I told them to check the brakes and do the pads. The car was ready on time. Excellent work and very kind and honest. We will be back. They replaced the timing belt and water pump (a pretty major repair) in my 2014 Ford Fiesta. I got this done preemptively so that the belt would not break after 100,000 miles while driving. they do great work and other times I took the car in when it needed a major transmission repair they were honest and told me it was related to a recall issue and to take it to the dealership so that I could have the work done for free, so that's what I did. read more

My car's check engine light came on and it was having trouble starting. I checked with a code reader and it was throwing a P0300 code, which means a lot of things possibly, all of them outside my mechanical abilities. Took my car to Hicks Automotive and they looked at it, gave me a quote on fixing it including options on what I might prefer to have fixed now vs. later. I used them for a pre-purchase vehicle inspection for $75. It was a good value compared to many other services that charge around $150. They were able to begin inspection promptly and it took around 45 minutes. They even broke their lunch break early to start. However the professionalism was not the best. The mechanic inspecting the vehicle kept coming in and out to talk to the two guys behind the counter. When I asked the mechanic inspecting my vehicle about it, he kinda mumbled what his review was and didn't really look like he felt like/wanted to talk. After asking him more questions, he pointed to the guy behind the counter and said to ask him and walked away. Rude. The guy behind the counter kept looking at his computer and didn't say a word to me for another 15 or so minutes. I assumed he was preparing the report, but at least a "I'll be with you shortly" would have been nice. They gave a decently honest review. However, they did not give me any sort of physical documentation or list of the inspection. Nor did they have a checklist of what was checked. They only told me what the problems were and that's it. I would have felt a lot more secure about what I paid for if I had received a physical documentation of what was looked at. It made me feel as though they just spot checked the vehicle. read more

I was tired of having 567733 things added to the problems I brought my Honda element in for over at Honda Carland. They always say i need 5x more than what i asked for. I brought my car in the first time to Hicks for what I thought was a brakes problem. They looked at it in less than an hour and told me it was actually totally fine and looked over my transmission too, etc to make sure it didnt need anything else. Turned out there was just build up/dirt causing my brakes to squeal. Easy fix and they were honest about it! They could've easily lied to get more money than a small diagnosis fee. Brought it in a second time A few weeks later when my starter died. Brought it in around noon, they had it diagnosed in an hour and fixed by 4 PM. Price was also about $100 less that I got quoted elsewhere. Definitely my new local repair place! read more

Terrible pricing! Tried to charge me $800 to replace 3 spark plugs!! On top of that, they charged me $70 just to scan my check engine light. Horrible experience. Took my car to a shop in Marietta instead and they charged me $200 to replace all three! Much better pricing out there. read more

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Hicks Automotive. After shopping around for brakes and rotors, I was fearing the worst. Everybody else in the area was giving me quotes around $1100-$1700 for everything. Hicks was able to get me taken care of for just over $600. To make things better - this wasn't even for low quality. They installed quality ceramic brakes and high quality rotors. They didn't even charge me for looking into my other concerns. Best part is they were able to get me taken care of within 24 hours of my initial call. There's a reason these guys have been around for 50+ years. Truly the Holy Grail: a 100% honest auto mechanic. On one of those freezing mornings, I had a dead battery. AAA brought a new one out, turns out it wasn't the problem. So we towed it in... and later I got a call from Hick's that it was an inexpensive fuse problem. Here's the deal: they could have told me anything, could've charged me anything and I would not have been equipped to argue (all I knew was that something was very wrong). But they were honest and even seemed happy to tell me it wasn't a big problem. This kind of ethical behavior should be the norm but we all know it isn't. So these guys are to be commended for it. Transmission to have everything checked out and after finding out it was not the transmission we went back to Hicks and they fixed the problem quickly and with a reasonable fee!
