First let me explain my rating system. I give three stars if I would like to return, four stars if I would like to be a regular, and five stars if I would go out of my way to eat at this restaurant. We tried hidden Harbor for the first time yesterday and it was overall an excellent experience. Service was fast and friendly, the menu was interesting, the meals are great value, and the food tastes great. Unfortunately the building has neither heating or air conditioning, so on a really hot day it can be sweltering inside. Next time we'll know better and we'll eat outside on the deck. The other small drawback was that their internet was down so it was cash only, but that's just a minor point. The Monday meatloaf special was excellent and a really good value. Hidden Harbor is truly a Hidden Gem in the Solomons area and we will be back. read more

Imagine, if you will, slender stalks of market-fresh asparagus. Then visualize them lightly battered and quickly fried, and served with a mustard - based dipping sauce. This was a recent featured starter at the Hidden Harbor near Solomon's Island. After this treat I moved on to the Grouper sandwich, which was also excellent - sautéed with just a hint of Cajun seasoning, accompanied by house-made chips and a not-too-garlicky dill pickle quarter. I wish I could review the food, but unfortunately, we were unable to get any. It's a cute enough place back off the road. It's very small with most if the seating outside. The view is lovely. We got seated right away and the waitress told us that she would not be our waitress, but that another would be right out. Fifteen minutes later, having seen no other waitress, we asked the first waitress if we could at least get coffee while we waited. She explained that the other waitress was insider packing up desserts for another customer (even though it was 9:30 AM). We patiently waited when we saw the second waitress finally come out and immediately go to service people who had just been seated. Five minutes later, the first waitress who said she was NOT our waitress then came back to take our order as we were about to call it quits and leave. We went ahead and ordered and finally got coffee! Alas, she brought coffeemate artificial creamer (a devilish elixer for humans!). I asked if they had any real creamer. She said no. It was the final straw. We might not have left just for the fact that they had no real creamer, which is typically the kiss of death for a reasonably good restaurant, but it was the final nail in the coffin after we had not been serviced for now over 20 minutes on our beautiful Saturday. Waitress was not apologetic, but simply said, "ok". Blackballed! read more

This place is great a simple yet diverse menu and reasonable prices in a marina/waterside setting. We typically come for breakfast, which can get crowded after 9 am. For lunch/dinner they have good pizzas and maybe the cheapest beer in Solomon's. It's definitely worth a visit. read more

We were excited about trying Hidden Harbor based on all the positive reviews. The photos of the food looked great! We must have caught them on an off day. We all ordered the Chesapeake Benedict breakfast and it came out barely warm. The eggs had runny whites and the portion of home fries was skimpy compared to the photos we saw from other customers. We'd try it again because the staff was very friendly and the food was good, just not even close to being hot. We don't like sending food back. Better luck next time? read more

Went here after a night on in Solomon's while staying at the hotel.. This place has good food ( great pizza ) and the service is usually pretty good. The reason I give only 3 stars is because this place is very small; on the water. Minimal seating inside so only only open in good weather months/days. It's slow, so don't go if you have time constraints and you have to walk up a hill to use the restroom. It's like a "just got off the water from fishing/worked on my house all day/ mowed lawn for 4 hours and I'm hungry and need a beer" kinda place. Come as you are, sit outside, relax and have some beer and food by the water. As long as you go there with the right mind frame you'll enjoy the experience. Our first visit to Hidden Harbor held up to all the hype from locals who have recommended. Lunch menu excellent. Husband had the steak and cheese, home cooked ribeye, not your basic Steakum. Nice home fried chips on side. I had the catfish PO boy, wow!! Freshest, tenderest fish stacked with coleslaw, tomato, fries and onion straws with special sauce. A meal and a half!! Sandwich bread top notch. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and hard working. The place is hopping, only one cook, so expect a wait for food. Worth every minute. Great location right on the water. My wife had the chicken salad on lettuce which she said was excellent. I had the catfish poor boy which was awesome and one of the best fish sandwiches I have ever had. The catfish was a thick fillet, not a bunch of fish nuggets. Nice ambiance. read more

None of the servers greeted us. After about an hour wait for our pizza, it appeared the server forgot to put our food in. When it did come out, pizza was clearly undercooked. Had this undercooked pizza experience even with take out. Great location but terrible service and food. read more

The best I ever had was in a sourdough bread bowl somewhere at the fisherman's wharf in Monterey, CA. Very disappointed with this place, spent 20 minutes driving around trying to find the place for breakfast. The address was listed wrong on multiple sites, called multiple times without an answer, found the place finally and the hours clearly aren't correct because no one was there. If hidden means doesn't want business then it has achieved the goal. read more

We found this hidden little gem by boat. Don't let the building scare you away. The staff was so friendly. Husband had a burger and fries and said it was good. Chicken Wings were good. They have several flavors to choose from. Cuban Rueben was excellent! I had an order of kale as my side and it was delicious. I would just go back for the kale alone and order a bowl of it. They make pizzas here also, no one in our party ordered pizza, but people around us were ordering it and what I saw pass by looked and smelled really good. Don't come in a hurry! This little spot is great to come and relax. We came on a sunday morning to have breakfast with our two young children and the food was so delicious! My husband and I both got the eggs Benedict with lobster for a dollar more than the crab was soooooooo worth it! The kids split the french toast and that was super yummy as well! This place is very deceptive. If you can actually find it without asked by for help, then good on you. It is tucked away down at the end of Dowell Rd. in the harbor area by the charter boat docks. From initial appearances, you'd think this was some run down little fishing shack or something. But don't be fooled. Once you are inside the dining area, you'll see that it's a very clean place, and a nice little place. It has about 5 tables inside that can fit about 12-15 people tops. However, there are a few big picnic tables outside that can seat about 15-20 people. The view from the outside seating is pretty nice. Views of the harbor, sailboats going by, and just a nice relaxed area. The food...... I started with the jerk shrimp appetizer. It was pretty good served with honey mustard sauce on the side. The shrimp had a blackened crust that you can taste on the back end when you eat it. I just thought it was pretty good. For my lunch meal, I had the Cuban Reuben sandwich. It was a cross between a Cuban sandwich and a Reuben on a little sub roll. The roll was toasted and had a dressing (thousand island I think). It was pretty good as well. The dish came with homemade potato chips that are made on site. They were good too. Overall, the entire lunch was good. It wasn't quite a 5 star but it was a good solid 4 star. The two ladies working there were very nice and added to the warm country feel of the whole atmosphere. They are closing for the winter and will reopen in the spring. Outstanding view, quaint little building, and the courteous staff make this place a must if you are in the Solomons Area. The food is freshly prepared, and reasonably priced. The beer is cold, and the coffee is excellent. Hidden Harbor puts a nice twist on stand fair. The Cuban Rubin, and the pizza are highly recommended. read more

Some of the best food in the area. If you're not in a hurry you can eat on the weekend. Service is excellent but the small number of staff in the kitchen are only able to put out so many meals per hour. While they are closed on Tuesday it's a great place to grab lunch any other day of the week. The steak and cheese is excellent and large enough to fill even a hungry man. read more
