Came here to do a bit of studying and decided to order lunch here as well. I ordered the Pork Belly rice plate and was really impressed with it. Initially thinking this was only a tea shop with maybe the usual popcorn chicken / appetizers, but that thought changed right away. It's a nice little spot to do some studying and to grab a drink! read more

We finally got the chance to visit HideOut and really appreciate being warmly welcomed by their staff despite a very busy lunch time. The Chicken Salad is fresh and yummy and I would go back just for the calamari. It's super small and busy but worth the trouble. I would love to go back for another lunchtime session. I can imagine myself drinking a Guava Lemonade poolside this summer. read more

I like that appetizer sampler they have. It was getting a bit pricey but last I went you bought one and got another half off so that's good incentive especially if you're hosting a gathering. The staff is very nice and welcoming and it's in the cutest little shopping center. Always positive experience visits thus far. read more

One of my friends live pretty far from me and my other friend. And because of that, we haven't seen her for a while so we decided to meet up and have lunch somewhere. The three of us decided to eat at Hide Out Cafe and once we entered the place, we were amazed by how cute this place was. I totally recommend this place because of the cute decorations, good customer service, and amazing food. There's a big statue of a bear near the entrance and we took a couple pictures with it. read more

Saw this cafe a few times when I passed by for errands and decided to try out their snacks, the hash tag waffle fries was pretty good! Not big on cheese but it was the perfect amount. I think there was minced pork on it too? Almost like loaded fries, I would come back to try again. read more

Not a spot to go and get a quick drink. I waited 25 min before I got my drink to go and I came 20 min after opening time. With such a competitive drink market this is a fatal error. The winterpresso was a good drink however. It was strongly brewed and not cloyingly sweet. With that being said its flavor profile is like a regular milk tea. I'm not enamored with this business. read more

Super cute place. The service was great, and I really enjoyed their coffee and tea. I wouldn't recommend the chicken and waffle because the chicken was SUPER DRY and has NO FLAVOR it just looks pretty. However, the popcorn chicken was tasty and flavorful. The bob Marly tea was AMAZING. It tastes like an expensive Arnold palmer it's well worth getting. read more

Food: delish! We got the waffles with berries. Cute and tasty. Sweet fruits and good combo. We also got the interesting tea where there's a frozen bear to sink onto glass. It came with a good cookie which is a nice touch. And as a savory dish we got the popcorn chicken which is addicting with their sweet chili sauce. Price: a bit on the pricey side but with current inflation, it's expected. Ambiance: cute cafe. With lots of cute decor and instagrammable spots. But I must say the 2 person table close to the kitchen is not ideal. Eventhough I am not the type to complain frequently, I wouldn't recommend being seated next to the narrow walkway twd the kitchen with lots of boxes and stuff. But other than that they have ourdoor seating area for to go. Parking: can be quite compact since it's competing with plenty of surrounding business establishment around the plaza. But we got lucky and not need to drive around to look for a spot. We were there on a saturday afternoon. Service: friendly and quick. read more

I really enjoy the environment of this place. It's quaint, quiet, and a good study environment (albeit small). I'd definitely recommend their lavender latte, which blew me out of the waters. Good coffee that is aesthetically pleasing AND has lavender leaves in it? Truly unheard of. While it is a little more expensive, I do think that the quality presented to me would warrant the price. I also tried their seaweed tea latte and like many, upon hearing that name, was very skeptical of the taste. I think the seaweed wound up being a lot more subtle than I had anticipated because it really only tasted like a caramel, sea salt green tea latte at its best. That's not to say it wasn't good; it just wasn't as expected. Though, I would definitely recommend their boba. Additionally, their popcorn chicken comes at a good value. For $5.25, it's a fairly large portion for good fried chicken flavored with garlic and basil. Personally, it wasn't a portion I could finish on my own with that sea salt green tea latte. I will admit it's a little strange to have this place styled with wait-service (as opposed to ordering at the counter and paying up front), but it doesn't necessarily detract from the experience. They also have decent WiFi here and a good number of outlets -- if you're able to get the tables by the wall. I'm not amazed by their boba drinks, but I am thoroughly impressed by their coffee selection. I am definitely curious about the remainder of the menu and would come back. read more

I rarely leave yelp reviews, but this business inspired me to write one. The customer service and food are equally terrible. Starting off with the service, we ordered waffle fries, berry waffles, chicken wings and dry noodles. The entire meal cost over $90. It took over an hour for our food to arrive when the cashier told us it would take maximum 15 minutes. We ordered family style and they did not give us napkins, utensils or plates. The server had a sour attitude and did not even apologize for the inconvenience. As we were waiting we saw multiple parties arrive and leave, so we felt like an after thought since we were seated outside. Regarding the food. Drinks: you can get better at other boba shops nearby. boba is stale and flavorless. 3/10 Waffle fries: soggy, over cooked egg, slimy meat 2/10 Chicken wings and berry waffles: it was delicious but the service ruined the whole experience for us. Also took the longest to arrive 9/10 Dry noodles: completely flavorless, overcooked, tastes like instant ramen noodles with garlic oil -0/10 I highly do not recommend dining here. read more

I ate here one time years ago ordering seaweed latte and avocado toast. Both were good and the place inside is cute. I forgot about this place until my sister brought home her leftovers lately: some kind of pork belly with rice and salad in one box and then a basil chicken rice in another. Either she wasn't hungry or they give big portions since these were her leftovers. I wasn't hungry but I ate all of it! That's when you know the food is good. I can't wait to go back to try again. read more

This is a popular place with lots of seating. The time my friend and I went there was an event outside so there were a lot of people outside. We were able to sit on the bar area with an outlet. There were not many outlets available. You have to order using the QR Code and order at the bar area. The employees are busy so please be patient. My friend and I ordered the Three Little Pigs dish and Fries. This dish was delicious and would definitely order again. The place is on the first floor on the right side of the quad area. read more

I came with 3 people. 1 vegetarian, me gluten free, 1 non dairy person, and one who eats everything. The bear drink cannot be made dairy free. They have almost no options for a gf person. I got grilled chicken with rice and it was flavorless so I asked for more salad dressing to put on it. Our food came out at different times and our avocado toast took 40 minutes to arrive. Our waitress was cold and not helpful but one waiter was great and saved the experience. We tipped him cash. We are never going back. They had some excellent qualities and terrible ones. I would like to say that the service here was AMAZING. All of the servers and workers were so incredibly kind and thoughtful. We did wait much longer than expected to be seated and the hostess acknowledged this and was kind in providing an update (they apologized even though the wait was caused by something out of their hands (there were parties that were done eating but still talking and not leaving)). We really appreciated the kind service and attentiveness. The food and drinks were delicious but I would note that it was a bit pricey considering the portions. This place is definitely a nice splurge but would recommend planning ahead if coming during the lunch rush to avoid wait times. read more

Small boba/snack/dessert place located in an Asian plaza. Parking depends on what time you go, but seems doable. The interior is a nice quaint place. There's a small number of tables and they have WiFi so you can try studying. It can get a bit noisy so I don't recommend studying there. The service was good! I came on a Saturday night with 7 people and they were able to piece tables together for us to sit together. I ordered a rose milk tea. It was good, but not great. Initially a lot of rose flavor, but it wasn't that strong. I also got the banana Nutella waffle. It was really good! A bit pricy but it's a nice splurge for dessert. If you're thinking about it or the other waffle, the Nutella makes the difference! I'd come here again to chill and hang out with friends. read more

I ordered the hide out milk tea with boba at 25% sweetness. The boba was severely undercooked and marginally sweetened. The milk tea itself was average at best. That being said, the cafe was a nice place to work for a couple hours as it was relatively quiet with nice coffee shop music. In short, for $7+, you could do much better with almost any of the many boba shops in Rowland Heights but if you want a place to work, this might be a serviceable option. read more

I had this place bookmarked for a while because the dessert looked so good! If you know me, I'm not much of a sweets person, but I crave desserts here and there. I finally came to try Hide Out Cafe to try out the desserts while working on some of my work related stuff. I was also hungry, so I got the pork belly dish and it was pretty good! I actually came here a few times before, but decided to write a yelp review this time! In this visit, I tried the Hazelnut Milk Tea with boba 50% sugar and it was pretty good! I would say it is a bit watered down, but I still enjoyed it overall. The boba was great, but it was also kind of too hard? If only they cooked it a bit longer, the boba consistency would've been perfect. I wish it also had a stronger hazelnut taste to it, so I feel like I would've like this drink better. Their drinks are more on the pricier side, so mines came out to be 6.99 for a drink that's pretty standard. I had snacks here before and they were pretty good! I always loved their interior in this shop, so I do wish to come back here again to relax once covid is over. read more

Some of the most popular and hyped-up shops have weak tea flavors, yet their wait times and sales are through the roof. Maybe it's placebo, maybe it's the hype...and today, I was invited to try ChaHalo's new Lychee Series, and these are my honest thoughts. (Also the shop is in a busy parking lot with lots of restaurants, stores, and grocery. The shop has very cushy chairs!) I tried all of the lychee drinks at 100% sweetness and tasted them immediately, as the ice started to settle, and again after the ice completely melted and am impressed that the flavors held up through each stage. I'd get them again except for the smoothie. Lychee Oolong Milk Tea: This was my favorite. It's milky with a pleasant sweetness, but neither the milk nor sweetness overpowers the oolong tea or lychee - the flavors were harmonious. The lychee adds just a tiny bit of tartness, while the oolong is fragrant without being too strong and they create a buttery flavor. Lychee Smoothie: This one was my least favorite, but mostly because I'm just not a huge smoothie person unless there's some creaminess to it. The smoothie also melts a little too quickly for my preference. There was a generous amount of house made lychee jelly, and I really liked it. The jelly didn't taste watered down at all. Every sip was smooth and pleasant, and the jelly added both a nice texture and an extra layer of lychee flavor. Lychee Jasmine Lemon Tea: This had a really nice sweetness, and again, the flavors worked well together. The jasmine tea was prominent, while the lemon was mild and added a pleasant fragrance without making the drink too sour. It also wasn't bitter, very light and refreshing. I want to point out: I actually hate the flavor of canned lychee. I love fresh lychee fruit, but canned lychee has a very distinct flavor that I personally don't enjoy. Canned lychee is used at probably almost every boba shop, so it's something to be mindful of when ordering lychee drinks. You should expect that distinct canned-lychee flavor rather than fresh lychee but depends on how the shop uses it. (same with longan) I think ChaHalo used it well. The lychee flavor was noticeable without completely taking over the tea, and the drinks continued to taste good even as the ice melted.

The name fits this place perfectly. It definitely is a "hideout" and a very good one being that you can relax and enjoy some of the finest teas Rowland Heights has to offer without any distractions. I saw some people complaining about the awkward opening and closing times, but I mean let's be honest, how often are you really going to be there? In any case, that's about the only bad thing I can see that could be said about this place. The staff is friendly, desserts aren't the best (but go quite well with the tea or coffee drinks) and the drinks are soothing to the core (being that they fill their tea bags quite nicely with various herbs). Bottom line is, If your in the area looking for some tea and relaxation without the noise, then this is the spot. If your on the run and need to take a break while hiding from the bad guys, then this is also the spot. a real HIDEOUT :) read more

My new favorite coffee shop! This place is seriously the cutest. As well as your typical coffee and tea, they also have a selection of yummy pastries. They focus here on both coffee and tea, and our really trying to make a name as the go to spot for hipster-like behavior in the area. It had chewy, medium thick vermicelli noodles, came with a bowl of rice and the usual helpings of greens and meat. Restroom was clean, although the soap was strangely watery/watered down. Would we come again? This makes for a tasty and quick meal in the area, so it'd be a decent place to meet up to eat or eat with the fam if you're looking for good Korean comfort food. They also serve a variety of other things like ginseng chicken soup and bibimbap varieties.

I would give it 3.5/5 overall for all the drinks. We got both Life is Matcha and Matcha Danzzan drink and although the matcha quality was not impressive, the overall drink was enjoyable. My friend also got the early grey Hojicha latte and it was exactly what you expect it to be. We were impressed with their variety of cookies - gochujan, pj chocolate and matcha ganache were all really good! 4/5 Also, parking was easy and staff was friendly :)
