Everything was tasty for the most part, I didn't really like the wings though. It was more on the tangy buffalo wings side than a Korean flavored sauce. The chocolate with the beignets were a little too bitter for me& the beignets itself were a little mushy on the inside. The patio has table seating but it was a 30min wait so we opted to sit at the bar instead. They do have the retractable shades to adjust when the sun moves, so be aware when they seat you, the sun could be beaming on you. We had moved from the corner of the bar towards the middle at one point. Pretty much casual bar vibes. Service might need a little work. The girl that was helping us at the bar, was also the bartender. She asked for a card to be held to order. She didn't really check up on us too much after the initial orders. Had to flag her down a few times for drink orders. &when I asked for the check she charged my card& gave me the receipt instead of asking if I was gonna even pay with that card which I heard her ask the 2 guys to the side of me when they asked for the check right after me. read more

Spacious venue with their own validated parking lot. Modern, comfortable, at home lounge decor and great for groups, or get a secluded table in a nook and cranny. Large bars. Great place for brunch and drinks! TVs to boot. Tried an omelet, arugula side salad, and potatoes side. The omelette and salad were nothing too special, but nice and healthy. My first thoughts were against selecting a restaurant 1 block from the beach, which I anticipated would have average food and less-than-average service; based on the Yelp rating, reviews, menu selections, and proximity to my location, I decided we'd check this place out... and so glad we did! Everyone we encountered -- from the host desk, to our server Brooke, to other staff members -- were all positive, energetic, & pleasant (offering a smile), helpful (even when not assigned to our table), and professional! Impressive... and quite a reflection on management. Hubby repeatedly raved about his Charred Black & Bleu Burger ($17.50) -- which was what I'd first had in mind; instead, I opted for something out of my norm, New England Lobster Roll ($20.50) -- it was good but don't think I'd necessarily order it, again. They offered a nice variety of sides of which we ordered: Seasonal Roasted Veggies ($5.50), Arugula Fennel Salad ($6.75/$5 with burger or sandwich), and Truffle Parmesan Fries ($10.50/$7.25 with burger or sandwich) -- all 3 very tasty! Wow!! Such a great place!! The vibe and atmosphere is so fun and all the people there made it better. Off the bat, we somehow came at the perfect time on a weekend night and a huge line formed after us- it's a very very popular place it seems so get a reservation! We walked up hoping to get a seat and all of the hostesses were so kind and accommodating. They got us seated in the bar somehow right away even though they were slammed. So lively inside and beautiful lighting. We just stopped in for a quick drink and bite as we were visiting and were blown away by the amazing options. The lobster mac was of course delicious, but the pretzel was a group hit!! For drinks we got the frozen fruit mango margarita (the favorite! so sweet but hit the spot), the bellini spritz frappe (super refreshing and calming), the passion fruit margarita (great quality), and the dreamsicle (delicious flavors). After 10 pm this place is crazy packed with people lined up to party, ever since the chainsmokers did a surprise performance or something. This place has Big Pretzel energy and I'm here for it. We're no longer your typical PB customers anymore, trading in day-drinking for mid-day lunches with our doggo, toddler, and family in town (and maybe a few drinks, but far less than 15 years ago!). We've been here twice this month with different out-of-town family members and both times our servers (Lynda and Ryan) were on point. Throw in the two managers (woman with dark hair, guy with a fun pink golf polo) were there to assist when we thought it was going to rain. Menu is diverse and something for everyone (or most). Beer and beverage list are great. Ample seating in different areas makes for a great experience. If this was 15 years ago we'd be bellying up to the bar to watch games or chill after a day at the beach. I'm sure it's a great place when the sun goes down. Let me start by saying that I highly recommend Highaway for brunch. My family and I, locals from Escondido, came to Mission Beach for a staycation. We stumbled on this place, and it was a hit. The food, drinks, and service are all amazing. We came here two days in a row for brunch. It has a chill beach vibe with lots of college kids (I'm guessing). The steak and eggs are delicious, and my picky kids devoured their pepperoni pizza. The fact that my kids loved the pizza so much was a hit for my wife and me. I loved their drinks and drink specials. It's a great place to start your day. And you really can't be the location, and they validate parking for 2.5 hours. I originally saw this spot on Instagram, and then happen to be across the street from it. I tried the Spicy Pomegranate Margarita which I loved. It was not too sweet at all. I also tired the Passionfruit Margarita which was good but sweeter than the other drink. I thought it was kind of odd there was a significant difference in price between the two cocktails. We celebrated the Aries of the family with dinner here. Our party of 10 was 1 person short as my other nephew wasn't feeling well We were able to park in their lot. A win. Aside from the interesting decor/layout, everything else was meh for me. I assumed the tip was already included with our tab due to the large size of our party. Every other establishment I've been to with a party of 5+ already includes the tip which typically makes the service questionable. The woman who waited on us did more socializing with her coworkers than check in on us. I had to hunt her down to get a second drink. I opted for the burger only because I was in agreement with my niece that if she gets the chicken sammich we could go halfsies. Although the restaurant has its own parking lot, you have to pay at a pay station which we didn't notice when we arrived. We asked about the free parking validation and we were just told to ask up front but by the time we went to our car, we had already received a ticket. So be aware about parking. Came to the hideaway for dinner with a large party on a Saturday night. The staff out front were very sweet and let me inside after letting them know my group was already seated. Pretty intimidating seeing the LONG line outside even at 7 pm but I believe they were all waiting for the bar area since the restaurant converts to bar/club after 9ish. We ordered the spicoli pizza and truffle fries. Both were very good! The pizza was very pepperoni heavy if you're into that. Our waitress was soo sweet and attentive!
