Continues to be a solid place to come eat. Sandwiches have always been good. The Chuck Norris pizza is unbelievable! Lots of meat in all the right proportions! Stromboli is yummy. The deep fried pickles are long crunchy spears. The nachos are better than they used to be- shredded pork, black beans, pickled jalapeños with thin chips make it a little different than other places. It's hard to rate the service of a place when you get NO service! It was during the Beavs game and they were understaffed, which I understand. But we tried 2 different tables and the bar, a lady took our drink order at the bar but then never came back to take our food order. A table opened up so we went there and THEN she came but only to demand we pay before leaving the bar. We tried to pay before going to the table but she wouldn't look at us, so we just went to the table. At the table we never even got a "hello, here's a menu." I made eye contact with a server and raised my hand to get her attention and she stopped, turned and walked away. She was helping all tables around us. Another table on the other side of the building opened so we switched and tried that one, seconds after we left that table, the waitress went and cleaned it off, so clearly she saw us sitting there. Table number 3, still no service. Several waitresses walked by us without even a look in our direction. Being understaffed is one thing, everyone is dealing with that, but there is no reason we couldn't even get acknowledged. Im leaving one star today on several things. I totally understand understaffed, but when a waitress is completely rude cause we asked for water after being there for over 30 mins when my friend decided she would just get it for the table is not acceptable. The bartender I think hated everyone including her job. Our waitress the older gal bless her heart was so sweet & nice making up for the rest of the staff. It was exactly what we were looking for. There are several couches to sit on and watch the wall of TV's that are hanging. This is an excellent spot to grab some pretty good food, booze, and a game. There are a ton of TVs in here... so, prepare for a fairly loud experience. The burgers are cooked to perfection, the beer list good, and the service very friendly. You can sit outside with your doggie, so that's also nice. The parking lot can get a little full, but there's some street parking. I've rarely had to park on the street though, so overall good parking experience. Long Review: We were visiting Bend, Oregon from Sacramento, California and decided to come here based off of a recommendation from my cousin who used to live in Bend. We went to this restaurant for breakfast on our way out of town. Hideaway Tavern has a very casual vibe on the inside. The tables where all large wooden tables and they had random beer signs and sports team memorabilia all over the walls. This looked like a great place to watch a game because they have a ton of TVs and about six couches all lined up like a movie theater that have little tables in between for your drinks or food. I ordered a regular coffee and the breakfast burrito that had a name of sausage in the title that I couldn't pronounce. It was surprisingly delicious! I couldn't eat the whole thing because it was HUGE but it was my favorite breakfast meal I had while I was in Bend. Their breakfast potatoes were also super good! I didn't even need ketchup on them! They only reason I am taking off a star is because their coffee was TERRIBLE! I am not a picky coffee person but this coffee just tasted weird... I know I shouldn't expect great coffee from a bar type restaurant like this one but COME ON! Bend has so many amazing little coffee places, maybe they could use some of theirs? A bit hard to find hence the name but well worth it if you do. Very good pub food in a relaxed atmosphere. Had a burger and my wife had a stromboli. Both of us thought the food was great. I think they have 14 big screen TVs in here so if you are into sports the odds are that whatever sport you like is on one of them. This place is set up as a sports fan's dream with TVs everywhere and an entire section of cushioned benches for those that want to be right up against the action. But the also have great food too. This place has gone so downhill. Used to be our local fave place to go to watch games. The attitude there is "sit down, shut up, and maybe you'll get service". If you're someone who expects more and asks for a menu or water or silverware... you're literally told to sit down and someone will wait in you eventually. When you go to a restaurant with 6 or more people and drop $130 on food and drinks... it's hard to tip when you've been treated like a pre schooler. Hideaway Tavern is not a restaurant I would normally visit since I really do not care for the bar atmosphere. It did have great reviews on Yelp so my husband I decided to give it a chance. We walked in and I almost wanted to walk out because it was loud and there were kids running around, it was just too much chaos for my brain to handle at that moment. I am so glad that we stayed! The drinks were stiff and the food was excellent! I ordered the green chile burger and I scarfed it down. The house made chips are so good that you can't have just one. This is a very unique and laid back little bar. I love going here on a weekend night when I don't want to deal with large crowds but want to grab a beer with a few friends. One of my favorite features about this bar is that it has more TVs per square in than any other place I have been. Better yet, they have a ton of recliners and couches in front of the TVs for sports games I a imagine. I have had a few of the mixed drinks here like the White Russian. This was a good place to get buffalo legs, but I am so disappointed in the order I got tonight. I am still sitting in the parking lot at the hideaway and I just had to warn everyone that the food order I got was over cooked , dry as dirt and they didn't even put the sauce on the legs, it was put on the side. First off, they are really busy tonight. I'm guessing unplanned busy. So, that's worth noting. Sit at the bar. I ask for a cocktail menu, don't have one. Fine. She's abrasive, obviously under the gun. Okay, but not my fault. I get a margarita, upgrade to Cuervo Silver. It tastes like a margarita that I've drank half of and then came back to it half hour later. Watered down - which it isn't. Not much flavor. Bummed, I love margaritas. NCAA tournament is going on (I have to stop coming here during the tournament), 4 out of 9 screen are showing NCAA and one of them does have the only PAC 12 game showing. Okay, good. 4 out of 9 is not great, but at least they have the most relevant game showing in the far corner of the bar. We order the onion rings as a starter. Seven of them for $9. All but one fits in my mouth in one bite. I get the steak frites with blue cheese. Steak is tough, really tough, and flavorless. Chimichurri sauce that comes with the steak (which I typically love) is flavorless. Garlic is the prime ingredient in this, I don't taste it at all. Fries have a few dribbles of blue cheese on them. I only eat maybe 20% of the meal. My partner gets the Chuck Norris pizza. I have two slices of that to compensate for the steak. Crust is soggy. I put parmesan and pepper flakes on the pizza and it's not bad. Time to wrap it up. Bartender (who's service has improved) asks if we need to-go containers? I say yes, but for the pizza only. She doesn't ask about my steak and how it was. I don't offer an opinion, figuring they are crazy busy. I should have said something. In the meanwhile I've had on previous visits the grinder sandwich - nothing, turkey pot pie is seemingly a cheese lovers paradise. The food is not great. The. Game. Changer. ----that's basically all you need to know about this place. But since there is a lot more to love, I'll reminisce on those details too. 1. The Game Changer. This is THE Bloody Mary to put all other bloody Mary's to shame. It's probably stacked about a foot tall with veggies and other snacks, comes in a large glass (it's a double after all), and could actually just be you entire breakfast. It's topped off with a fried ball of blue cheese, wrapped in a piece of (delicious AF) candied bacon. It's worth every penny of that $12 price tag. 2. Sports bar heaven. So many quality TVs and not a bad seat in the house. If I lived in Bend, this would be my Sat/Sun football home away from home. I love how it kind of feels like a dive bar... Yet it's clean and organized at the same time. 3. The food ain't so bad! I mean for a dive/sports bar type of menu, they do it pretty damn well. I experienced 2 meals here and neither disappointed. I had a build your own scramble for breakfast and truffle Mac and cheese for lunch. Both helped me battle hang overs and carry on with my weekend like a champ. Honorable mention: service! I came here to watch the Oregon vs. UCLA game and after the first quarter our service was terrible. It seemed to us like they sent most of their staff home. Our first waiter left and required us to close all of our tabs. Then our second sever appeared to be waiting on the entire bar and was rarely at our table. To top it all off, once the game was over I asked one of the severs to change the channel, when she got to the right channel I said "we're good!" then she said "holy sh*t" which I would've been cool with if there weren't two kids under 7 at our table. When my girlfriend went to complain to a manager, they told her the "holy sh*t" server was the manager. If true, this leads me to believe John has made a poor choice in leadership. Hopefully he can fix this since my experiences at the Victorian Cafe have always been exceptional. Pros: Excellent food, great beer selection, and fun atmosphere for watching sports. Cons: Very slow or non existent service at times (don't come hungry or thirsty because you may wait awhile). No one in this "sports" bar cares about sports or puts popular games on. You'll usually have to ask. I've been here about 20 times in the past year and base my Pros and Cons on multiple visits. read more

We were at the Hideaway this last Saturday for the Beaver football game, and the place was packed!! We got there early so our group had a good spot for the game, and although the score wasn't in our favor, our experience at the Hideaway was wonderful. The bartender/waiter was absolutely fantastic. He was doing it all. Taking orders, running food and drinks, cleaning tables, everything. He was literally running to take care of everyone and he was the only staff member I even saw! I can't imagine how overwhelming that could have been and he was just wonderful. Our food and drinks were also exactly what we wanted, i love the pretzel and the pineapple passion fruit cider is to die for, but the main point of this review was to rave about this remarkable man. I gave him a generous cash tip as we were leaving and he was so gracious, I wish I would have given him more. Definitely will be back soon!! read more

The low review is for the high price of the food. The prices feel like something you'd see in Los Angeles - it isn't what I expect in Bend. $14 for a burger, doesn't include french fries, and it had better be one of the best burgers in the world. This burger is good but I've had many better in Bend/Redmond for several dollars less (and they came with fries). The beer prices are good and the tap selection is also good. The celbrated Bloody Mary is OK and not worth $14. If you like hockey you'll like this bar - all the TVs were on the Stanley Cup playoffs (this is cool). read more
