**This is a review for the experience, it is not for the food. My friend wanted to go to SKY for her birthday, so I made a reservation for sunset. After reading the reviews, I opted for drinks and apps, and booked dinner elsewhere. Our table had a nice view, though to take a photo with the sunset, there is only a small corner where this can be done. Our service was good, and the drinks came out quickly. We shared the charcuterie board, which was fine, but just okay for the price. We came on a beautiful evening and it was lovely to sit on the rooftop with good friends and drinks, enjoying the view. This is a rooftop experience you should try. The views are great and the open air is something to experience. I arrived after 7 and got a bar top table next to the glass. I ordered the sashimi sampler, the Japanese style oysters, the lobster bisque, a house margarita and espresso martini. The fish was very good and delicate but lacked some flavor. The oysters themselves were very good but in my opinion the amount of soy added was heavy. The lobster bisque was a bit of a disappointment. The soup was topped with a giant puff pastry, which was very nice but the ratio of soup to pastry was a little off in my opinion. Also the two pieces of lobster in my soup were very overcooked and rubbery, but the flavor was good. The drinks were fine. For the price/quality of food I rate it a 4. The umbrella was awkward because you had to hold it with one hand and eat with the other hand. So we chose to move our table to the shade. We ordered the wings and truffle fries. The wings were okay, it wasn't what I expected. Not a lot of seasoning, bland and no dipping sauce. The truffle fries lived up to their name. Crispy, nicely plated and a nice blend of cheese. I really don't know what to say about their Mai Tai. It wasn't the best Mai Tai and it wasn't the worst. It was on the sweeter side but it was okay. So what's cool about the Sky is the oysters, you can buy as many as you want. Want 1 get 1. First time I've been to a restaurant that allows you to order just one oyster. The spicy margarita was so good my friend said she wanted to bathe in it! LOL The fries were good. The poke nachos, wow! I would have liked bigger pieces of ahi but still the bomb. Sushi roll was ok. My only complaint- and I think this is totally fixable for them, you have to have a reservation..... we sat down and she asked us to move because it was reserved. There isn't much seating. I heard somewhere " If your favorite club is SKY Waikiki, you're a baddie" and while I can't attest if that is fact, I can attest that SKY Waikiki is the best rooftop spot and has an awesome upscale vibe. The views are immaculate from the ocean to the mountains and the city in-between. Located on Kalakaua, I'd suggest parking in either the Waikiki Business Plaza parking garage (I believe you can search that up in your GPS maps) or the Waikiki Shopping Plaza parking garage across the street. Located on the 19th floor, you'll take an elevator and then an escalator up. They have multiple elevators so there's never really a long wait to get upstairs (one of my pet peeves is having to wait long for an elevator, just for that elevator to be too packed). Happy hour is everyday from 4-5pm! From their raw bar, you can get $2 oysters or jaz it up with ponzu, spicy daikon radish, yuzu, green onions for $4. Be sure to check out their poke! Ahi, hamachi salmon, and even beef poke! One of my friends doesn't eat fish but loves beef sushi/ poke from here. The service here is really attentive and friendly. They even have a bathroom attendant that is always so sweet, such a nice and classy touch. SKY Waikiki always has a cool lineup of live music - every time I come in there's either a DJ or live musicians playing local music. If you're looking for a great view for drinks and food, especially for sunset- I recommend this spot. read more

One of my friends was given SKY Waikiki as a Mai Tai recommendation. We were in the area and decided it would be our first stop on a Mai Tai crawl. We hit them during their post-dinner rush so there was no wait for us to get a table. The best seats against the glass wall were all taken so we took a high top. Our server was so kind for unexpectedly being gifted us as one of her tables at the tail end of her shift. Despite kind of being in a corner, we had really great views. SKY Waikiki has live music almost daily, and the guy who was performing during our time there was phenomenal. You can tell he's been in the biz for a long time and knows his craft well! The Mai Tais were a little strong, and not too sweet. A perfect blend! We ordered spicy ahi nachos with the understanding that they weren't horribly spicy for us Zonies - and that was correct. Traveling from California, we have visited Sky Waikiki several times in the past. Generally, we love to visit rooftop bars in several metro area locations. Sky Waikiki falls into this category of a great rooftop bar to chill. We popped in for a few appetizers and cocktails. Our server had recently move to Hawaii from out of state 6 months ago. She was super sweet and on top of everything we ordered. Our food choices came out perfectly and very satisfied with the service. I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience tonight at SKY Waikiki was easily some of the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant. First, the hostess wasn't even at the front desk when we arrived. We stood there waiting while multiple staff members walked by without acknowledging us. When she finally showed up several minutes later, instead of being welcoming, she immediately had an attitude. Things somehow went downhill from there. At one point the hostess and our server were openly talking about us within earshot, which is incredibly unprofessional and honestly shocking to see in a place that tries to present itself as upscale. Then the food service was a mess. My boyfriend and I received our meals 15 minutes apart, meaning one of us was basically finished before the other even started eating. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, that's unacceptable. Between the disorganized service, the staff talking about customers, and the poorly timed food delivery, this was a genuinely disappointing experience. There are far too many great places in Waikiki to spend your money somewhere that treats guests like this. read more

We had a party of 13 so we ended up seated around benches with a giant square table in the middle of us at two separate tables. The vibe was definitely more relaxed and chill as you kind of have to eat stooped over the middle table. But we were super happy to be right next to the entertainment! I ordered a Mai Tai which I thought was great! Tasted good and was strong. Service overall was great because of Damien. It was a little bit on the slow side, but Damien's personality made up for some of the waiting. I ended up eating: Truffle Fries, Hawaiian Plantation Ribs, and Braised Pork Belly. The star of the show was definitely the Truffle Fries. The entire table found them highly addicting -- seasoned just right, truffle flavor coming through, crispy and fluffy. Everything else was okay! A lot of us really enjoyed the saffron risotto that came with the pork belly. It was very flavorful and had a velvety texture. The pork belly was okay/good and the ribs were a bit disappointment. The ribs were on the dry side and did not have much flavor. I'd pass on those! BK Espiritu really helped make the night special! We were celebrating a friend's birthday so he sang songs we requested and gave us shoutouts throughout the night. We had an extra fun time because of him! Overall, the restaurant is fun! I highly recommend making reservations for SKY Waikiki because it's a popular spot, especially around sunset. We arrived at 4:15pm and the sun was very bright at first--if you don't mind it, you'll be fine--but staying until sunset was totally worth it because the views were beautiful and the live music paired with it was such a vibe. We enjoyed happy hour and I loved the spicy mango margarita, plus they had $5 beers, which was a great deal. There was a bit of miscommunication with our server around 5:00pm when she told us happy hour was over, but I pointed out the menu said it went until 6:00pm and she checked and confirmed we were right. Just a heads-up to check your receipt, as we were accidentally charged for two glasses of wine we didn't order. Food-wise, the fresh oysters were good, though there was some confusion when we asked how to differentiate the Japanese-style ones and they had to bring them back. The octopus was tasty but I wish it had more char, and the honey truffle mascarpone was just okay since the bread was a bit stale. We really enjoyed the ahi poke, ahi nachos, wings, and ribs, but when we ordered oyster shooters at the end, they took a while to arrive and we were told we only had 15 minutes left at our table. I had been hearing people talk about Sky Bar for a while, so when I came back to visit Waikiki, I finally got the chance to see it for myself. First, I want to say that you definitely need to make a reservation, and I highly recommend calling ahead if you want a seat with a view. I made my reservation late, which was a mistake on my part, but the host was so sweet and accommodating. She also had on an amazing outfit that night, which immediately stood out. Originally, I told her we wanted a seat with a view, but once we heard the live talent performing, we decided we wanted to sit on the couches right in front of him instead. I don't know the gentleman's name, but he was absolutely amazing. I would honestly only want to go back when he's there singing. He performed all the songs I love and remixed them so well, while also playing the guitar. He was truly one of a kind. If you ever see him performing there, please don't forget to tip him. Atmosphere/Appearance: Just absolutely gorgeous views of Waikiki and surrounding areas. The DJ had good lively music playing and the vibes were just the best. This is what vacation should be! Service: We had no issues here and we were well taken care of. Food: We're here for the bottomless mimosas and they were cool. They were juicy and we had to keep on asking for less juice. Like, I get it. You don't want to over-serve or give out too much of your product, but do NOT put bottomless on the menu if you can't handle some real drinkers that pull up. Lol. It's probably why they got rid of it. Anyway, the food was decent. We had the shrimp cocktail and they were cool. Could've used more horseradish in the cocktail sauce and the shrimp were a TTTAAADDD bit chewy, but still delicious. My burger was excellent. I had no complaints. It's easy to write-off the food here because of the amazing vibes and views, so just take that with a grain of salt. Value: This place was NOT cheap. I can't even remember the prices of everything, but I feel like we spent $200.00 between the 2 of us for the brunch including tax & tip. Still worth it for a good time.
