The atmosphere is very pretty, and when we visited there was live music, which added to the experience. Unfortunately, the service fell far short and really impacted our visit. We ordered our appetizers and drinks and then asked for a few moments to decide on our entrées. When we were ready, we called the waiter over and placed our food order. After waiting about an hour with no food and no one checking on us, we kindly asked the waiter for an update. At that point, we were told the waiter thought we had already received our food, which we clearly had not. We are very understanding when it comes to delays, so we didn't make a big deal about it. However, the lack of communication and follow-up was frustrating. When the issue was finally addressed, the kitchen staff brought out the food instead of the waiter who had taken our order. Only one of the two entrées arrived, even though we had ordered two of the same dish. When we asked about the second entrée, the kitchen staff seemed confused and it appeared they had been told there was only one dish ordered. This added to the discomfort, as it made us feel like a burden when the mistake was clearly due to poor communication on the waiter's part. We appreciated being comped one of the entrées, but by that point we had been there until closing, and the overall experience felt uncomfortable. Despite everything, we still tipped 20% as per usual because we have a lot of respect for the restaurant industry, but the waitress did not seem happy or apologetic about the situation. We ordered the chili crab dumplings and the Mo Bettah burger and highly recommend both! The dumplings had real crab and the sauce was a mix of sweet with a little spice while the burger was juicy and explodes with flavor. The live entertainment also gave it a nice vibe which kept us there longer. Stayed here for a work trip and love the fact that the Hideout is less of a technically "hotel restaurant" and way more like a restaurant that just so happen to be located inside of a hotel. My friend and I visited for brunch and were happy to see that they updated their menu from the last time we dined in. Their new loco moco is gluten free and was so good with lots of flavors from every component of the dish. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts were indeed super crispy and even as someone who doesn't enjoy pork belly (bc it's too fatty for me), I loved the pieces in here. I wouldn't recommend the match latte, since it hardly tasted like matcha (even the color was hardly green), but I was very impressed with their cocktails. The waitstaff is SO nice and helpful. We were seated in the sun and asked to move to a shadier area and they all helped us to move at once. Parking is only valet at their hotel. The farro was the carb, rice-like part of the dish. It's beady and nutty. Pretty decent, but I do prefer rice. The macadamia romesco was unique, the sauce is tomatoey. RSVPs were easy on OpenTable and we were seated right away on a table top. TIP: 2 hours of valet parking is FREE if you get your ticket validated after dinner. The entrance to the valet is tricky as you have to make a right directly on the pedestrian side walk but it's easy once you spot the valet umbrella. We ordered the pork belly and crispy Brussel sprouts and I'm drilling just writing this review reminiscing on it! The pork belly was juicy, crispy, and the Brussel sprouts were delicious. We had the pleasure of snagging a Valentine's Day dinner reservation and while we did not eat off the pre-frixe menu I cannot recommend the Hideout enough. The entire vibe is incredible and very easy to get to on foot with an escalator and elevator taking you to the second story coffee shop turned restaurant. I would not recommend driving if one can help it due to the difficulty of parking in downtown Waikiki. Our server Bri was amazing, she was attentive, funny, and so welcoming to us. The restaurant has live music which was fantastic and the perfect amount of chill for a gorgeous lanai environment. For sure the best place to request a table is the lanai rather than the indoor covered dining, however both sections were excellent ambiance. The bar staff was quick even with a holiday rush and neither my wife nor I were long without a drink. The truffle fries were excellent, the aoli they're served with is perfect. We came to the Hideout our very first night in Hawaii! I've heard nothing but good things about their drinks and the Mai Tai did not disappoint! Easily one of the best if not the best Mai Tai I've had period! It was well balanced by being the perfect amount of sweet and had just the right kick of rum. The service was amazing. All the food was great! Definitely on the pricier side but it's Waikiki so that's expected. Our total for 3 was around $400 but that was including drinks. I got the Pink Hawaiian mocktail which tasted like the pink drink from Starbucks so I'd probably skip that. The restaurant got pretty busy and the live music was a plus. It can get a little loud in there and a bit windy since it's half covered but we were okay sitting outside. The music is all over the hotel from the elevators to the bathroom which was pretty cool. Hideout is consistently rated high in my books for brunch, not only for the food, but for the atmosphere. Staff have always been fantastic. I just had a chance to try their happy hour. The mainland burger is the best burger I've had on my trip. It's a Wagyu beef burger that is cooked to medium. I love the fatty beef and not overly done burger topped with tomatoes, onions and shredded lettuce. The mainland burger is served with fries and pickles on the side. The only small thing I would change are the pickles to be more salty and less sweet. That is my own preference, but otherwise I forgot to ask if they pickle their own pickles - had a nice crunch. They had live music at 6pm and it was so relaxing to watch the performance, enjoy your drinks until the sun slowly set and your surroundings get dark with only the flickering of the fire pits or torches around the place. read more

The manager was even super cool and was getting his hands dirty, helping to ensure guests were taken care of. While we only have been once we were very happy to give Hideout a shot for dinner. Ambiance and staff are great, they even have a closeable trellis in case it rains. The food was a great surprise - unique takes on dishes, very well done. The restaurant and bar are located in the Laylow Hotel off of Kuhio Ave. It's not a rooftop area but is open and airy. You can access it by going up their escalators. The restaurant itself is casually filled with beautiful modern beach decor and a nice fire pit in the corner. On top of that, they have live entertainment nightly, which allowed us to listen and jam over our food and drinks. Service was good as our orders were taken and brought to us in a timely manner! Considering we were tucked in the corner, we didn't feel rushed at all and had the opportunity to kick back and unwind while being checked on. Hideout is a great option for a quick happy hour in the Waikiki area! It's easily accessible from Kuhio Ave. We chose to park at International Marketplace and walk over but other garage and street parking is available. The modern rooftop vibe to it truly puts you at ease. The food is good and the workers are friendly--what more can you ask for in Waikiki?
