Tldr, pretty good food and a super cool quasi-outdoor/indoor restaurant! I've been here a couple of times and waits are usually long to get a table during primetime hours. We went about noon and waited about 45 minutes. However, unlike most cafes, you won't mind the wait at all if you like plants at all. The cafe is in the middle of a huge nursery, so there is plenty to look at while you wait. The cafe is covered overhead, but it's almost like you are eating outside. They do have actual outside seating with heaters. I'd imagine the cafe could get pretty cold or hot on extreme weather days, but I've never experienced that. Staff are really friendly and attentive. The food is very good. We ordered the huevos rancheros and veggie omelette. The huevos rancheros were not typical of huevos rancheros in my opinion, but they were still tasty. read more

The restaurant is connected to the nursery. There are several other businesses too. The inside and outside dining areas are spacious and have a great ambiance. The service on my one visit was friendly and got everything right. It was just a bit slow though. The classic eggs Benedict was good. For your first time here, you can easily spend 2+ hours perusing the outdoor garden area, indoor garden area, trying all the flavors of vinegars and olive oils, exploring the shops, and hanging out at the bar. One of the best hidden gems in northern california - period. The only advice I could give is to make sure to pick a perfect temperature sunny day to visit. Firstly, the metal and glass main building has vaulted ceilings and an array of plant life that make you feel as though you are dining inside a botanical garden! I love it here! Honestly I can come here every day! The food is amazing the nursery is very well kept. And the brewery was great! I love the little shops too. The service is good, not great but they try. There is a manager for the nursery that was super rude to customers and to her own staff. She yelled at her worker in front of us and that was not cool. This was the first time that I have been here. It's a nursery and restaurant. When waiting to be seated there's a substantial amount of plants, shrubs etc..to look at. I ordered the brisket hash and eggs, all I can say is the meat was so incredibly tender it was so delicious. The scones are very tasty as well. They had extended their seating outdoors due to covid19. The service from our waitress was not good, we got better service from a waiter who was in our area more so we gave him a substantial tip for waiting on our every need. I came here for Sunday brunch. The wait time can be long from 12pm. It's a one hr wait but lucky it didn't take that long to get a table. . I had tried their ice coffee black and with cream. It was good. . Clam chowder was great for 8 bucks in a bowl. . Veggie egg Benny, I liked the biscuit, it wasn't dry or too moist but perfect texture. It had a nice spread of avocado, spinach cooked, and slice tomatoes, topped with a poached egg. I like it because there was lots of veggie on it. I sub the potatoes for a house salad, which had some vinegrette mixed in. . Overall it was a great vibe and place to explore if you love plants, food, and drinks, check it out. We had a great experience, my husband and I shared the turkey sandwich. The chutney on it was wonderful, and the waiter was very patient as I asked what was in it due to food restrictions. He happily changed the bread that usually came with it. I had a wonderful watermelon cocktail that was so delicious, nothing like I have had before. It was 98 degrees and we were inside, close enough to the Big Ass Fans (the actual brand name!) to be cooled. Also, I am in a wheelchair, and the situated us in an area that wasn't high traffic so I didn't get jostled like I have been at other restaurants. By combining a nursery with an airy greenhouse, a preserve/canned fruits and other produce shop, and an art gallery, you get and exceptionally beautiful and inviting sensory experience. The High Hand (and in card hand) Cafe gives you an outdoors dining setting that any competitor would be hard-pressed to compete with. You have your choice of dining in the voluminous greenhouse or in the garden nursery area. There are wood tables and chairs in both the greenhouse and nursery if you're used to such. There are also beautiful polished concrete sculpted tables and seats further into the nursery. If you're in one of the more remote dining areas, you can pull up the online menu on your cell phone and order. Or, you can seat closer to the main dining area and have a server take your order of food and drinks in person. My dining partner and I ordered the pastrami on a pretzel bread sandwich and the smoked brisket sandwiches, respectively. We both opted for the potato salad side dish. Both were mouth-wateringly good (Of course we sampled each other's sandwiches) and very, very filling. Came to enjoy the nursery & purchase new plants for Mother's Day. Called ahead and was told no reservations were being accepted. After spending hours on the property we decided to try our luck and ask for a table- when we found out they closed in 30 mins we made sure to ask if it was ok as we didn't want to be those customers. The host insisted and brought us to a table out near the nursery. Bonus! They have misters and cooling fans outside to ease the heat! Greeted soon after by our server. I ordered the chips and lemon artichoke dip with the albacore tuna melt w/ potato salad. Chips were addicting! So crispy and lightly salted. The dip was different the lemon zest is definitely present and may over power the actual artichoke. Tuna melt was delicious, served on a soft bun with the cheese melted like a pocket around the tuna. Sad the side of potato salad was so mini but such a great taste, the pickles were the star of the show as they were sweet and crisp. We were seated right away by a friendly front desk host. Waiter came by to bring water very fast. The waiter was amazinf actually! Very attentive and efficient. The banana bread French toast was not good. Dry on the inside, drenched in artificial flavored syrup. With a burnt flavor, not good. It was so dry that it crumbled when I put a fork to it. $20 for four pieces of dry inside, drenched in syrup outside, bread. So sad! The dish came with no sides. I've been told about this place for years and everyone raved about it. The nursery itself is very pretty and nice to walk around and there's a couple shops indoor to enjoy. The cafe itself is also very beautiful. It's quite loud inside cuz it's a greenhouse and has a semi open kitchen area. The service can be slow even if it's not super busy and there tends to be flies due to the nature of the cafe being open. The menu is fairly small as the whole entire back side is just alcoholic drinks... I took my parents here after visiting some mandarin farms for a nice brunch. The chips and artichoke dip as an appetizer sounded good but the chips came out cold and half were stale. Super disappointed in that especially for the price point. The cider chicken sandwich was good although slightly bland in flavor. It was hard to get the attention of anyone to refill waters or take away dirty plates on our small table. Ok this place was giving great vibes, ambience was 10/10 service was great! I couldn't take pics of the food because my toddler had the phone. I had the brisket hash... 5/10 the potatoes and eggs were perfect but the meat (what meat) I had less than 1/4 cup of brisket and it tasted like refrigerated meat. The banana bread French toast was delicious. I especially liked the rum caramel sauce that came with it and so did my son lol. Pancakes were good too. Avocado toasted (took the longest to make, over 20mins wait time on this, when this was a starter item) for $20... 3 pieces of toast with a poached egg, this was decent but nothing to rave about, the banana nut French toast was ok but a bit on the dry side, the bacon, eggs n potatoes were just ok, we asked for scrambled and got eggs over easy. The food took so long we didn't want to send it back and wait some more. The tri-tip sandwich was bland and dry. It needed some Au ju or some mayo. It was definitely disappointing. The potatoes salad that came on the side was the only good tasting item on my plate. The service was really slow today. This spot is definitely all hype, come check out the garden, nursery and buy a plant or two. Lots of beautiful plants here. On a Sunny day maybe a good date day to walk around and kill some time. Today was our first time dining at High Hand Café. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and there are so many different nooks and crannies to explore. Can't wait to come back to try out the brewery and the live music. Great selection of food choices, and everything we tried was delicious. If you like relaxing in nature this is the place to go! Outdoor seating is spread out throughout the nursery. You will sit amongst trees, flowers, and metal artwork. They have outdoor heaters. Fast, friendly, efficient service and even though we had no reservations and were told it would be about a 35 min wait, we were texted that our table was ready in less than 10 minutes!! The inside seating feels like you're outdoors due to the high, clear ceilings that open to the sky and there is an adjacent outdoor seating area to the right facing the garden nursery area under a huge trellis. I had been here years ago and enjoyed it then, and enjoyed it yesterday despite the cloudy, drizzly day. Bringing out of town visitors to the cafe for lunch was a delightful experience for all. Parking is adjacent to the cafe and gift shop/bakery and if you're going to explore and shop at the garden nursery area, parking is further up Taylor road in front of the huge, long building. We had our baby shower here and this place is amazing! We booked the private garden. Super easy to reserve online and they called in advance to confirm the headcount and menu. We ended up moving our event indoors the day of due the rain and wind and they were very accommodating. The food was sooo good. My favorite was the chicken salad and eggs Benedict. They gave us so much food too so plenty to eat! The restaurant is super cute and the staff was amazing. We were the last party as they were closing and we didn't feel rushed or anything. Quiet harp and piano play lovely simple melodies and your mind starts to relax layer by layer. Put in your name for the cafe first then take the time to wander. I wandered first and then decided not to wait. I was refreshed by the place without eating. Whil there I picked up some Calynopsis yellow for color. Went here for a Celebration of Life. There is no other place like this (that I know of) that has a restaurant inside a nursery. It's a beautiful place and a great experience with great food. Roxanne is amazing and was a tremendous help setting up the Celebration of Life gathering and even more helpful after with the cleanup. The food was delicious and the portions were plenty. Even though my allergies were affecting me a lot with all the flowers, we will definitely come here again (and hope Roxanne) is our server. read more
