Love this place, such a great addition to the neighborhood. Food is great, and it's very kid friendly!

The place is cute, the food is decent, and the prices are reasonable... and it's nice to see a venue finally doing well in this spot that has seen so many restaurants come and go. However... I was really put off by the vibe today. I get that Hudson Heights is the Park Slope of Upper Manhattan, but that doesn't mean I want to be in a restaurant that has kids running around and screaming at top volume. In this case, the kids in question seemed to belong to the owner/staff (?). Not once did he ask the kids to chill out, use their indoor voices, sit at the table, etc. I found it to be quite annoying/distracting. read more

I'm new to the area and was so excited to discover this place. It's right around the corner from my house and the food and service have been great. Unfortunately the experience I had there today has totally shifted my perspective. I called ahead and asked for extra pickles on the side. When I arrived there were no pickles on the side, I was told they'd been put on the sandwich instead. I politely asked if I could still get one on the side since every in-person order I've had here comes with a garnish pickle as standard. She told me she'd have to charge me for it. A thirty-cent pickle. I had paid cash specifically to avoid their 2.5% "service fee" card surcharge, only to find out the fee applies to all takeout orders regardless of payment method, which was never mentioned when I called. Then when I got home the coleslaw that comes with the sandwich was missing, along with the extra ketchup I'd asked for. I genuinely cannot understand why this was the hill for this server to die on. A polite customer who ate here four times in one week, paid their exorbitant fee without complaint, and politely asked for a pickle that normally comes free with the meal anyway...that's who you're going to nickel and dime? I won't be back, and I won't be recommending this place to my friends and community. read more

Our neighborhood diner delivered a fantastic first impression. We stopped in for pre-Easter brunch around 2 PM and snagged seats at the counter -- the best spot in the house if you love being part of the energy. Plenty of table seating was available, and the outdoor patio looked absolutely charming, decked out with flowers and guests decorating Easter eggs. The service was exceptional -- friendly, fast, and attentive. The menu is packed with great options, and I went with the Santa Fe Benedict: chorizo, poached egg, chipotle hollandaise, avocado, and tomato, served with home fries. A perfect combination -- every element worked together beautifully. My partner ordered the grilled hanger steak with home fries and scrambled eggs, medium rare. It came out a touch overcooked, though to be fair, when the waitress checked in, he said it was fine -- so that's on us. We also enjoyed a mimosa and a beer to round things out. Overall, a wonderful neighborhood spot with real warmth and a menu worth exploring. We'll definitely be back soon. read more

Local favorite and welcome new addition to the neighborhood Location On the bustling micro block on West 187th Street between Fort Wash. and Pinehurst Ave., there is a good size diner with booth seats and bar seating which really provides classic food with high quality twists. When you arrive, check in because there is a high turnover on tables so don't worry if it is too packed. Chris, the owner, or the staff will sort you out as soon as they can. Food: After eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and just dessert numerous times, I am not a local type of guy always trying to change up the routine but this diner continue to serve quality meals that keeps me coming back on a regular basis. I don't want to sound like that I am not a faithful customer but in NYC with so much variety it is the rare place that maintains quality across numerous visits. Service The service is always quick and efficient. In the off peak, they are more relaxed and I have not felt rushed on any visit. The bar seating is very good too especially when it is crowded. Stopped by yesterday with a friend for brunch and really enjoyed it. The place is very bright, clean, and has modern diner vibes. It honestly made me feel like I was in a modern day Gilmore Girls episode lol. There are booths and a few tables, and although it was pretty packed when we arrived, we were seated within a couple of minutes. Service was good. Our orders were taken quickly and the staff checked in on us a few times. We got seltzer and orange juice, my friend ordered an omelette, and I got the grilled chicken club. I loved my sandwich, and the fries were super crispy and delicious. I also grabbed a cranberry muffin to go, which was such a great treat. The pastries in the display were definitely calling my name. Prices are very reasonable. Our bill came out to about $40. I will definitely be back! read more

I'm so frustrated because I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but unfortunately my experience was so horrible! My friend and I had two different experiences! The place is a cute, vibrant, modern diner. It's a small space, but it is filled with light and bright modern colors, which make this place pop. The staff is fast and efficient and friendly. Now the first issue I had was when my food arrived, it was cold! You can see from the photo that my hollandaise just got thick and gloppy from being cold. The English muffin was rock hard from when they reheated my plate, so it was hard to cut into, and the tomato had a rotten taste. The avocado was still ripe, so it was hard to bite into!! The overall flavor on this plate was good, just not executed right. For my beverage I had the apple juice; it tasted horrible! It tasted like it was left open in the fridge for days... So I switched it out for coffee, which I thought was amazing until I discovered my coffee had something white and slimy in it! I was so disgusted and just turned off from this place! It's unfortunate because the prices are reasonable and it's located at a beautiful location with amazing views. read more

Honestly one of the best diners I've ever had the good fortune to patronize. The service was excellent, striking a perfect balance between attentiveness and patience. The ambiance was far more pleasant than your average diner, being both bright and comfortable, with the walls decorated by lovely photographs of local sights. But the food really excelled. I'd ordered a chicken gyro with a side salad, and was blown away by the quantity, the flavor and the abundance of it all. I'm just glad I don't live closer because I might end up here on a daily basis. read more

I gave this place 2 tries because I didn't think it could get worse but it did. I just ate here today on 3/22/26 Was told to wait 15 minutes to be seated and that turned into 30 minutes but okay cool. The owner manager guy seats us (party of 2) we place our order then wait an additional 45 minutes for my wife to get her food and at the 50 minute mark i get the the other part of my order because half my meal was brought out cold ya know. I had to speak up because this is the second time this place had done this. Serve me cold food after a long wait. The waitress apologized and said they were experiencing a shift change and everything was out of order. This place really lacks many things. The wait staff is suffering because the kitchen can't keep up and the manager didn't blink an eye and left. I will not be going back here. And that's a shame. The first visit I felt like the wait staff was ignoring me and my wife. This place is really really bad in my opinion. The food is mid and pricey. Don't go here. read more

Exactly what this neighborhood needed! The staff are friendly and attentive the space is no frills, but comforting - the way any good diner should be. First sign of a great diner menu for me are the presence of disco fries and theirs (though lacking in gravy) were a solid showing. We've been here a handful of times now and like any local place some dishes are better than others. I have yet to try their heartier dinner dishes but the sandwiches and burgers always hit the spot. Their portions are generous, food is cooked well and the variety on the menu makes it easy for everyone to find something. It's a solid spot for good food, friendly atmosphere and a cup of coffee and I'm so happy they're in the neighborhood! read more

What a surprise to my eyes when I saw this new opening. I stopped by the area to get some goodies at the near by bakery and was intrigued. I walked in to get a menu and decided to dine in, I was not disappointed. Service was attentive but I did sit at the bar. I had their "Chicken Pesto Sandwich" so yum. This time I had their more traditional fare (greek items). The meat was cooked fine but a little overdone. Went in for a quick burger, spotted a croissant double smash burger with cheddar, caramelized onions, arugula and tomato with their house burger-sauce on the menu so I ordered one. I know they just opened a few months ago and had hoped they worked out all the kinks but I was unimpressed by the burger. Cooked to proper temperature, presentation was nice, but American cheese rather than the promised cheddar, patty itself was very bland and unseasoned, only had one patty, and the onions had an odd flavor, and unfortunately the croissant was stale. I asked the staff member about the single patty vs double as it's presented on their menu and was told it's the method of "smashing " it while cooking. Solid diner experience. On a Tuesday morning, we were seated promptly and food was also served promptly. Servers were attentive and helpful. Ordered standard eggs, breakfast meat, toast, home fries combos with a side of chocolate chip pancakes that were tasty! Only complaint would be I wished the potatoes were crispier, next time I may opt for fries. It was pretty busy, tables were mostly full and a few seats available at the counter. I can't recall the last time I walked out of a restaurant before getting a menu, but that sure happened here. I've never left without even being noticed, though, that's for sure. We waited at least five minutes by the door while being completely ignored by all the door, despite a fellow who I think was the owner was milling about, chatting with patrons and patting them on the back (ehhh...). Two other folks seemed far more interested in their POS terminal than looking out for customers. Finally, said guy seated us at a table and we were completely invisible for 25 minutes when I decided that was enough. We left, while the guy was seated at the bar with back to the crowd, happily chatting away with people. I think folks at a table by us looked to be waiting a good 10 minutes or so to get someone's attention for the check - I wonder when they got taken care of. I'm extremely unfussy about service, but this was insane - I have rarely encountered such apathetic service in a restaurant, let alone in NY, where there are so many other places you could go. I had high hopes for this place - I looked forward to another place in the neighborhood...but there's no chance that I will ever return. read more

This is a very busy diner and the wait was out the door today for lunch. The burgers were tasty as was the Reuben. The baklava cheesecake was superb. Prices were quite good for NYC too. The service was a little spotty though. I think more servers might be what's needed but we will definitely be back. read more

We were long overdue for a diner in this area. This is definitely a local place. It's not fancy, but it's quite serviceable. The menu is typical diner fare and extensive enough for anyone to find something to eat. The dishes were prepared well, and the prices were fair. The service was good and the wait staff pleasant. We have waited years for a good tuna melt in our neighborhood, and now we have it and much more. The breakfasts are generous and delicious, the coffee drinks are especially good (and some unique). The service is top notch. This staff appears to have a great deal of professional experience. Each one is cordial, efficient and eager to please. Every time I have entered, the busy owner greets me. It is obvious he has experience in the field of hospitality and he keeps his eye on everything. The booths and chairs are comfortable. and the two restrooms are immaculate. They serve breakfast all day and night, and the pancakes and waffles top notch. Within the first month, the place took on a village-like, neighborly ambience while turning out delicious food. While sitting at the counter at eight a.m. there were four tables occupied (including booths which seat 4) and two people at the counter. There were retired people, blue-collar workmen, and moms who had just escorted their kids to school. Everyone seemed to know one another as they happily walked in, as if this diner had been their hangout for years. Several people walked in to pick up phone orders, sounding very New Yawk-y, "Make my coffee with two shu-gahs!" High Hill is packed with customers at certain popular hours, but plan to go at "off" hours for a restful and gratifying meal. read more
