At first glance, I was a little skeptical coming to High-Tech, but I did it anyways because of the reviews. It's just this lot off of Buford Highway that honestly doesn't look visually appealing from the road. A small lot with a bunch of cars randomly parked- no clear parking spots, the entrance of the building is off to the side. We dropped our car off and didn't receive a call or an estimate the rest of the day. We figured they were just busy given all the cars in the lot. That gave us more reassurance that so many cars were there. However, first thing the next morning we received a call letting us know what to expect in terms of cost, what was wrong, and our options. They were very honest, explained everything thoroughly, AND best of all, did not try to push anything on us. We were given the cost estimate to rebuild our transmission with new parts or get a used transmission. They gave us recommendations and did not push the more expensive option on us. We opted for the used transmission, which we were told would take 1-2 days for the part to arrive. We assumed we wouldn't get the car back until the next week. The very next day we were called and told the car would be ready in 2 days. Much much faster than anticipated. They offered to replace the clutch for us too, which we declined and they didn't try to push it on us. The next day, we were updated on everything, and we decided to go ahead and replace the clutch. Despite this, the car STILL finished before the anticipated time. When I picked up the car, we were informed that he fixed another part for us and refilled the coolant for no charge, the transmission has a 6 month warranty, and lastly, I mentioned a discount on the website for $100 which he happily applied to our bill. The car drives amazingly. The clutch feels great. The transmission works perfectly. Shifting gears has never been easier. We are so pleased with the work, the speed, price, and how thorough the communication was. Trust the reviews and take your car here for any transmission needs. read more

We had our transmission rebuilt at this shop. We based our decision on its good reviews. Their communication is sparse. We had to call every few days to get an update or we would hear nothing. We finally got the car back after about 2 1/2 weeks. It seemed to run fine. After a few months, however, we were still having transmission issues and were provided diagnostic codes when we took it to a near by auto part store. Fine. It's under warranty. We take the car back to the shop. Our vehicle sat at the shop for legitimately 1.5 weeks with little to no calls or updates. We finally retrieved our car without our warranty repairs as we were given excuses about how short staffed they were and how someone had jury duty, blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile, we're renting cars, taking Lyfts, Ubers, etc... all while the car is just sitting there. Simply said, this shop does not honor their warranty or at least not with any urgency at all. If you have 100 years to wait.. then maybe your experience could be different. read more

Rarely do you find a company who's customer service and craftsmanship are next level, High-Tech Transmission IS that company! I shopped everywhere for transmission service, only wanting the best since our 2012 Lexus LS 460 that was used to the pampering it received from the Lexus dealership service departments. So when we decided that a transmission replacement was the way to go I found High-Tech transmissions using Yelp. With many reviews north of 95% positive I did not let the distance from our home to the shop get in the way, and I'm glad that I didn't. After pickup I purposely waited a few weeks before tendering a review so that if I needed to return the vehicle for any reason I could judge their temperament completely (many service providers are angels until they get paid, and when something goes wrong afterwards they evolve into demons, not these guys). Wayne & his team were true and genuine good people. I returned the car a week after pickup because I heard unfamiliar noises coming from the rear tires that I thought was related to the transmission upgrade. Although it was a nothing burger Wayne was cool, calm and easy going about it. Now our car is a lean mean driving machine that handles like new. We are so happy having found High-Tech Transmissions. So, if you need transmission work and you want a complete service experience it would be a mistake to take chances, get your car to High-Tech Transmissions, you won't regret it. Although I did not end up getting my car fixed here, I still recommend this place over all other places in the area if you need your transmission fixed. I am Korean, so I naturally gravitate to Korean auto shops. However, I am a person who needs to shop around to make sure I get the best price and best price. I shopped around all around Atlanta, and he gave me the most information and the best price. He followed up with me for couple of weeks giving me better and better options. It isn't often when I award a business with five stars. It's especially rare when the business is car care related. I am always pleased whenever I am able to go against my own trend as a skeptic consumer. I telephoned a number of transmission repair shops prior to deciding to bring my car to High-Tech Transmission. I was initially impressed with the time High-Tech devoted to hearing my car problem and explaining the technical details over the phone, even before I set up an appointment. I was nearly certain that the shuddering I was experiencing at a precise speed range was the torque converter. As it turned out, the transmission was just fine, though I decided to go ahead and change the fluid. The real culprit was a faulty CV axle. After replacing the CV joint the shudder was eliminated. High-Tech Transmission took care of it all and did so for the price that was quoted. There was no funny business like so many of those national franchise places. I had an exemplary experience at High-Tech Transmission. I had a fantastic GMC diesel that when the replacement it they didn't tighten the starter bolts .and when they went to pull it around no body came back .went looking and 6 guys were staring down at the engine standing on my wheels and on the bumper looking down at it and the starter had broken engine block. I had an excellent experience at High-Tech. Wayne spent time talking with me both on the phone and at the location when I brought my car in to be checked. He explained various options to resolve my problem. I believe this is an honest auto shop and highly recommend it. Have a 2010 F-150 pickup - transmission locked up and wouldn't function - these guys are 'Best iin Gwinnett' for 2020 and 2021 - they had to special order some parts so it took a day longer but was worth the wait - like new with improved gas mileage and very smooth operation - Wayne keeps you informed and does what he says - very impressive! read more

When I arrived, I noted they were working on approximately 10 vehicles in the shop and many more waiting for service. (Many people had made the same decision as I.) I talked to the owner, and found him to be knowledgeable and passionate about his work. I give him high marks for explaining what they would do and explaining what they did afterwards. I was skeptical of all the 5 star reviews. I thought this place must be too good to be true. But this place is REALLY that good! This was the 3rd time I've had to have transmission work done on my old car. I have had bad experiences using mom and pops transmission shops in the past. Needless to say I was apprehensive about finding another transmission shop. I called and discussed the issue and Bob was familiar with my car and the issue I was experiencing. He quoted me a price and said he would send that price in writing if I wanted. He promised the price would not change. I have my car towed in. He calls me as soon as it arrives and informs me they will begin repairs the next day. 2 days later he calls me to tell me everything is moving as planned and my car will be ready the next day. Bright and early the next day I get a call telling me I can come get my car! This was my first time arriving to the shop in person. It's far from anything fancy but I'm sure they are passing those overhead savings onto us. I finally meet Bob in person and he is just and friendly and professional as he was over the phone. He explains what they've done and tells me about the warranty. He tells me to stop by in a few month and they will recheck everything (for free) just to make sure everything is operating as it should. This was all 5 months ago. No problems since. These guys are honest, professional, quick, and VERY reasonably priced. I could not have asked for a better experience. I called after getting an astronomical quote for a transmission repair from another mechanic. Bob told me the price actually seemed in line with the work that needed to be done. However, he pointed out that our Van was probably still under the factory warranty (it's a 2010) and then took 10 or 15 minutes to find numbers for Ford Service, Local Dealerships, etc... and instructed me on the best thing to do to get it fixed on Ford's dime. He even went so far as to give me advice about how to try to get Ford to fix it even if it wasn't still under warranty. I've never found a mechanic that will turn business away in order to help a customer do what is best for them. I will be going there for ANY transmission needs from now on. OH! He also told me that I could call him if we needed any service of any kind and he would recommend another mechanic that he trusts to do the work. Great company! read more

I few months later my friend started experiencing transmission problems with his Chevy Express cargo van and i sent him to Bob and his team. They tried to tell me my overdrive wasn't working when I brought my truck in for a transmission leak. Completely not true. I've driven this truck for 18 years and I know the trans functions perfectly except for an intermittent leak to outside of trans. I have been a lifelong customer of a well-known transmission shop downtown, but they can be expensive, it was not convenient and I'm sure that the original owner has retired. I found High-Tech near me on yelp! and the reviews were really good, so I decided to give them a try. I am SO glad I did. They were highly professional and friendly. They had a long talk on the phone with my wife, who hates car repair places that make her feel stupid, and gave her some scenarios with prices. She had a good experience. I went in a few weeks later. They looked up their conversation with my wife, because they keep notes on that sort of thing. They were very quick to look at the car and call me with the actual diagnosis. I authorized the work, it was completed quickly and they called me right away. The problem did not require a transmission replacement, so thanks to their care and honesty, my car works fine and I saved a bunch of money over what I expected. Nothing short of awesome. My car was experiencing random (once a month) spurts of violent bucking and jolting which I figured was a transmission problem. I took it to Bob and the folks at High Tech after a recommendation. They spent days looking at my car and test driving it/ diagnosing it and determined it was an electrical issue not a mechanical issue all at no cost to me. He did notice some wires that had been melted and fused together and replaced those for me. Although he was unable to fully fix my car since it required programming the body control module and other non-transmission related issues that only the dealership would be able to do, Bob spent countless hours explaining things to me on the phone, sent me to a personal recommendation at a dealership and even coordinated towing over to the dealership. It is next to impossible to find an automotive service place that will not try and take advantage of you and screw you out of money. Alan at High-tech took me on a 2 minute test drive and said that it was the catalytic converter that was blocked, and not a transmission problem. I was referred to this shop after checking around the Atlanta area. My college daughters car broke down. I first had it towed to a local Ford dealer. I could not be happier with High-Tech's service. The transmission my Jeep Grand Cherokee went out while in the hands of a valet parker. I had it towed to a local dealership who kept it for 10 days and then told me my transmission and transfer case had to be replaced, to the tune of some $13,000. I had it taken to High-Tech to see what they could do. In about 24 hours, they had diagnosed the problem as something very simple. They charged me $525, including transmission service. So far, my "ruined" transmission and transfer case have operated perfectly. Good experience! Hmm. $13,000 versus $525. Hard decision. read more

The people here are very knowledge of cars from various years from new er models to old. my dad had his old 1979 mercury car fixed here . They did rigorous testing before determining transmission band failed on car with no computer. they also care about the customer as they check up on the repairs to see if everything is aight . They pretty much rebuilt it vs just buying a used one. the employee are all super friendly!!!! read more
