We stopped here after spending $$ at the casino. I ordered the scallops with pancetta and pasta. The taste was outstanding and there was so much of it. We were directed to High Tide by a local business when we told them we wanted some good, fresh seafood. They were right in sending us there. While getting seated seem to be a little disorganized, the rest of the service was excellent. There were a number of specials for the evening but I went straight for the lobster. My husband had the broiled seafood option which included halibut, shrimp, lobster, scallop. Both has a choice of two sides and we pick a salad which was very fresh and a baked potato. All of the food was great! We did pick to seat inside as it was a warm day but there is outside seating if it is a nice evening it would be a good choice but it is in the sun. The establishment is full of ableists. I have a congenital eye disability, and they cut me off without giving me an explanation when I was on my first drink. They kept asking me if there was something wrong with my eyes. Look up Duane Syndrome and notice how it's a disability and not due to an intoxication. It would be one thing, but they refused to explain why so I got upset and then due to me being upset they said "we're obviously right that you're drunk if you're getting this upset." How about I got upset because you're being prejudice of me due to a congenital disability. I recommend no one give them their business. Plus the food is bad and Mason's is way better. I wish my hometown had a restaurant with this kind of vibe. It's kind of "50's " nice; the sort of place couples would go for a special occasion. It's obviously a local favorite, but it ain't cheap. Tonight we had a poached lobster ( the chef shells it and poached it in butter). My wife was in ecstasies , and she had whole boiled lobster last night ,which she said wasn't as good as this! Finicky son had the sirloin strip, and he was also pleased. The green beans were great, sez he. I had the big basket, the name of which eludes me. It had fish and clams, shrimp, scallop, and 2 nice haddock (?). The fish was delish! The clams and shrimp could have been cooked a little more, but I sit here replete. My advice, yes, eat here, you'll enjoy it but ask the chef to make the clams , etc crunchier. Bill for 3 really top end meals was $148 usd with tax and tip. read more

My family and I went here for the first time this evening to celebrate our anniversary. We were able to have a table outside with a beautiful view of the water. Our waiter was great! We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops and the fried calamari for the appetizers and they were so fresh and delicious. Our dinners were so yummy...we were all very happy. We are from out of town but wanted so much to try Maine lobster. We came upon this restaurant. We went at lunch time and tried the chowder and the lobster bisque. They were very good so we definitely wanted to try lobster at dinner. There were three of us. One had stuffed jumbo shrimp (loved it) the Caesar salad that came with it had wayyyy too much garlic almost inedible. The 2nd person had stuffed lazy lobster. Also good but too much stuffing and a little over cooked. Lobster was a little tough. 3rd person had the dinner shown. It was horrible. The steak was all grizzle, the beautiful Brussels sprouts had wayyyy too much garlic (definitely inedible) and tasteless mashed potatoes. I had about four bites. I tried to eat it I just couldn't. Very disappointed. They also charged us for the steak meal even though they took the plate that was obviously barely touched. Oh well, we won't be back. The wait staff was nice. read more

I went here based on a recommendation from my neighbor who also travels to Bangor for work. When we walked in, a sign said Seat Yourself. We sat out on the deck, which was a beautiful view during sunset. After waiting for at least 10 minutes of no one addresses us at our table, we finally got up and asked the hostess station for menus. This was happening while servers are walking by us serving other tables. After another 5 minutes, we saw a server wiping down a table and asked if she could take our order. I ordered the Sam Adams Seasonal beer on tap and coworker ordered a bottled beer. The Sam Adams was flat tasting and they brought the wrong bottle of beer out for my coworker. Coworker ordered clam chowder soup which came out as the same time as our entrees, instead of beforehand. My haddock dish was like warm at most and broccoli was over cooked. Coworker's salmon was overdone so much that 1/3 of it wasn't edible. Other than the nice view off of the back deck, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

We moved to Maine in October, and were told by many people what a great restaurant High Tide was, and we had to try it. So we went last night with some family from out of town for dinner. We arrived at 6;45 and Jaden (best part of the experience!) the hostess was very welcoming and seated us quickly. We waited 10 minutes for our server "Emily" to finally greet our table and take a drink order. I asked her about some of the local beers on the menu, she was not able to describe them and seemed unsure. She then returned with a beer and 3 waters. She then literally disappeared from the dining room and did not return to take our dinner order for 15 minutes! When she re-appeared and came back to the table, she said "are you ready to order"? She did not offer and information about the specials, we informed her this was our first visit, and nothing except that she said "we are out of rice" We asked about some of the menu items, and again she seemed unsure with a very limited menu knowledge. My wife asked her what Newburgh sauce was, and Emily said some type of brown sauce, but she had never tried it, she had no clue. We ordered clam chowder, calamari, and lobster bisque for appetizers, and baked haddock, lobster Mac and cheese, lazy lobster, and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo for dinner. The soups and calamari were delivered by another server after another 15 minute wait, the chowder was lukewarm at best, the calamari was lukewarm as well, the bisque was ok. We had to flag down another waiter to let them know about the cold food, because again Emily was no where to be found. The manager "Katelyn" re-ran the chowder and calamari. The chowder was now hot (way to many potatoes and not enough clams in my opinion) , but the calamari was again still lukewarm. How does that happen twice???? I informed Emily when she re-appeared in the dinning room that the calamari was still not hot, and she asked me if I wanted her to microwave it for us? Are you kidding?? Microwaving calamari??? Well needless to say, our first dining experience was not going well. We sat with empty water glasses, and empty soup bowls, for another 15 minutes while Emily disappeared again? No pre-bussing at all... Finally the salads were delivered by another server, but all the empty glasses and appetizer dishes remained on the table. I flagged down manager Katelyn and inquired about our entrees, since it was now 7:55 and we had been there for over an hour.....Again another server returned with our entrees. My wife's haddock was lukewarm and dried out, and the mashed potatoes were yellow and translucent? her Newburgh sauce on the side was actually cold,(Emily never ever came to the table to explain what in fact Newburgh sauce was, ours was orange like the lobster bisque NOT BROWN!) my brother's Lazy Man's Lobster was sitting in in a pool of red/orange like oil, and the lobster meat was stringy and tough ($32.00)???? We asked Emily about the lobster dish, and directly about the red/orange oil it was sitting in, and she said it was butter? We sent back the lobster for another lobster Mac and cheese. At this point dinner was a complete failure, the whole experience was not an acceptable first impression of the restaurant we were so eager to try. I had to get up from the table to find Katelyn (mgr?) and explain to her what a horrible experience we were having, and of course she apologized. When she returned to the table, she actually brought a cocktail to the table that my sister in law had ordered over an hour ago that Emily forgot to deliver ! At this point my sister in law did not want the drink, and we just wanted to get out of there, and asked for the check. I asked Katelyn for the owners name, and Katelyn said she was not allowed to give out that information, nor would she give me the General Managers name. I asked Katelyn for her business card, she said she was new and did not have one. I hope that someone higher on the management team than Katelyn reads this fiasco of a dinning experience, and is able to make the necessary adjustments. In this COVID time we are experiencing, going out to dinner is stressful enough, and having an inhospitable experience like this will kill your business, if not corrected. First... the service was great. Our server/bar tender was very attentive and courteous. But...unfortunately, the meals seem to be going in the wrong direction. The prices have gone up dramatically in the past few months. Our favored lobster bisque has been reduced to half the amount and doubled in price. The lazy lobster went from less than $50 to $70 and the taste is just so-so. Sad, very sad. I guess if all one wanted to do socialize and drink a few beers, this is still a good meeting spot. Called in order and told it would take 20 mins. Arrived at the 20 min mark and they hadn't even started the order! After waiting another 20 minutes, I finally got my order. Fortunately I made sure to check the bag when I got to the car and as it turned out they'd forgotten one of the meals. I went back inside expecting they had simply forgotten to put it in the bag to find out they had not even made it. After confirming it was on the original order they said they'd rush the order. Ten mins later I got the crab AND then found that the order was only 1/2 the size of what my husband got 2 days ago!!! Visited on the afternoon of 6/24/2022. The place wasn't busy at all, but still took about 45 minutes to get our food. It must have sat in the back waiting for our server to bring it out because it was not very hot. My wife got the Lazy Lobster that was supposed to be 1.25 lbs, but it wasn't even close! It was only 3 or 4 small pieces of lobster, but they still charges market price ($42!!) for it. Sure felt like we got ripped off. We won't ever go back. read more

I've been here before and wanted to go back to enjoy the outside deck. The sun was out, finally! There is plenty of space outside - there is a bar and lots of seats to enjoy a meal. We started with the spinach and crab dip. Delish. I ordered a Grey Goose Martini, dirty. I have to say, it was the best one I've had yet. I ordered the High Tide Seafood plate : scallops, shrimp, lobster, and haddock. Broiled. Unfortunately, I ordered it "Cajun-Style." Not only was in cooked in Cajun spice, they plastered the top with even more Cajun spice. It was so incredibly over-powering, I could not taste the seafood. It was so much that I felt nauseated and couldn't eat the meal. I tried finding it; I tried taking some of the spice off by tapping it into my potato. Not of that worked. It would have been good, otherwise. My sister got broiled scallops and they were very good. I do enjoy this restaurant and perhaps the Cajun should just be removed. I've traveled to every state and have eaten from Maine to NOLA, to Houston, LA, San Diego, and up to Alaska. It's my own fault for not just ordering it plain broiled. It started with the waiter asking: "would you like your fries to be warm?" I was wondering if it was a trick question - - optimally, I would like them to be HOT. But he brought out a fresh basket as an appetizer so things were fine. Then he brought out my bowl of lobster chowder. Instead of standing next to me and placing the bowl in front of me, he reached across the table and handed it to me - - and I completed the last 2 1/2 feet of its journey. I've never seen a waiter hand someone a bowl of hot soup to set down. The restaurant's lawyers must have been wondering why their ears were itching at the time. There was a thick skin on the lobster chowder, and it was the consistency of glue. The lobster in the chowder was tough. But that wasn't the only lobster that was tough: my wife had the Lazy Lobster (pre-shelled) and the tip of the claw meat was brittle. I told her I thought there was still a bit of shell left on it - - there wasn't, I guess it has been left too close to the heat lamp and it was just CRISPY. It was also very chewy. My wife didn't finish the lobster, and she ADORES lobster (I mean, that was the main reason we came to Maine - pardon the pun). Finally, the Caesar Salad, which was supposed to be my main course. It was absolutely flavorless. No anchovies, no flavor from the cheese, nothing. Had we not insisted on hot fries at the beginning, it would have been a completely miserable meal. At least the fries filled our stomachs until we could get to our final destination. Anthony Bourdain said in Kitchen Confidential to never eat at a restaurant on Sunday because they are trying to get rid of the food they didn't get rid of earlier in the week. I enjoyed this place. The service was very prompt. I started with some steamers and they were good. I then had the Cajun haddock and that was really really good. My only complaints would be the steamers had too many shell pcs sand or something inside which made them tough to eat. I'm not sure if this is typical or not. There were waitresses around and a manager walked by two or so times but nobody was interested in my being there. Thing is, they weren't even busy. One waitress was training another young lady so maybe that was the issue. I decided to go down the street 3 miles to Eagles Nest and got here at 7:20. 7:21 was greeted, 7:24 placed order and 7:35 got my fried clams and they are awesome. I decided to have the fresh salmon Oscar with crab meat. That was served with Hollandaise sauce, rice, and grilled asparagus. All very good, reasonable price, 20 bucks. This pains me so to write this review. High tide has been my go to for a relaxing evening, dinner, sipping a drink for 4 years on and off. Stopped by this Sunday for my birthday, went to the Pub area that my friends and I love (but honestly haven't been in 4 months). Was so disappointed. It was loud, to the point of rowdy with a big crowd throwing back shots at 3:30pm. My friend brought me a gift, with what appeared a champagne bottle from the top of the gift bag. HT 'management' left their shot glass at the bar and proceeded to heavily question my friend FOUR times what was in the bottle. By then I knew she was accurate in saying alcohol free as it was my favorite Pear freeze' . Despite answering no each time, the management was unrelenting and honestly unwelcoming. I offered to open my present early to demonstrate no alcohol, she said no, but again insisted "is there any alcohol in that bottle"? As opposed to normal welcoming HT, it felt entirely not. Fast forward to ordering food, waitress was repetitively slow. My French onion soup was cold except for cheese, Caesar salad had a taste of dirt and my friend's nachos came without jalapeños and olives, despite the waitress confirming she wanted this at order. The loud crowd continued to order their shots and yell at others across the bar. Couldn't enjoy time with friends. Not the high tide I remember. Far more rowdy and bar food lacking. I am sorry to post this, as has been my hometown go-to for music, spirits, ambiance and visiting when I am in town. I hope they address and improve.
