We love the High Tide. My wife has the whole belly clams and I usually have the fried oysters, melt in your mouth. Service is quick and the food is really good. This is an update to my previous review. It has been awhile so thought id try it again along with some of the family. The two stars are because they have great customer service and because the Ice cream and onion rings are good. I wish I could say the food was good but I cannot. The haddock bites i ordered were so bad I took 2 bites before tossing it all. My parents threw out their fish as well. My aunt had ordered a clam roll. She ate a little but said it didn't taste good and clams were clumped together. She was sick all day afterwards but I cant say for sure it was the food. The manager was really nice and did offer to comp all of the food but we ate some fries and the roll and coleslaw and so we only accepted 10 dollars. He wanted us to take the money but it is a small business and maybe it is just personal preference. I love the haddock over at kimball farms and for myself I think ill stick to ice cream only at the high tide. read more

Overpriced food; portion size is ridiculously small for the price. $40 for 2 oz of haddock, maybe 4 scallops, and 10 tiny claim strips. Clam chowder????? Where are the clams? Overpriced, mediocre seafood, but the atmosphere is nice. We go once in the summer every year. The lobster roll is good, and so is the coconut shrimp. But you can get the same, or better literally anywhere for half the price. If this place wasn't local, I'd probably never know about it. They do have ice cream, which we love. read more

My husband and I went to High Tide for lunch last week as we are new in town and had heard good things about it. He had the fried scallop dinner and I had the fried clam plate. (Dinners are about twice the size of the plates.). He said that the scallops were very good. My clams were enormous and so sweet. Fries and coleslaw were both good as well. This is a casual place where you order at the counter and pick up your food when it is ready. It was a beautiful day so we sat on the screened in porch. It was a very good experience and we will be back. They are open from mid-April through Columbus Day. read more

Ice cream is pretty good, should be less expensive if you ask me. The scallops made my husband throw up two summers ago, however we went for opening day this year and ordered the coconut shrimp and there was no problem. The food did take awhile to come out. I would dine again, but only if I have an extra 30 minutes to wait for the food to come out. read more

High Tide is a hidden gem!! Old school, under the pines!! Picnic tables & play area outside and a screened in dining area! We gave High Tide another try since it's been years since our last visit and we craved seafood. Only thing that has changed is that prices have gone up and portions got smaller. We had fried shrimp plate and fried haddock plate. Shrimp breaded coating was soft and fell off. Fries were not good and a bit soggy. Tart sauce tasted like cheap mayo. Good parking and seating tho. Unlimited fountain drinks for $2.80. Edible, but nothing great for the price. read more

It's pretty much what you might think an inland rural seafood joint would be. It's not particularly special, it's not a bargain, it's not horrible. I'm sure they're great people and hopefully they continue to have success, but if your friend has recommended this place as some sort of secret diamond in the rough or hidden treasure, your friend is not reliable. read more

What a gem. My family including two small children had dinner here last night. We all enjoyed the plentiful food. Sweet little playground to keep the kids occupied. And delicious icecream. Have been to this restaurant several times over the years.First time bringing the wife by. We own a similar restaurant with close to same menu,and we are pretty particular.I'm shocked by so many negative comments.The food was well cooked,and decent presentation.We were very satisfied,and would definitely recommend The High Tide for a good seafood meal out in the pucker brush. The owner was cleaning tables,and making sure customers were satisfied.Very nice guy. Yes prices are high,but so is everything else.I know from my experience that frying oil has tripled in price,and doesn't last as long as it used to...Give em a try,you won't be disappointed... read more

Lovely spot, clean, wonderful food. I was on a 2 week trip and went with a friend who helped her buddy get one of his vintage cars to one of High Tide's regular car shows. First thrill was riding in a 56 Ford Fairlane, second was having dinner with her friends, who were delightful. And all over a meal that was delicious. SO many choices. They serve up a variety of hard & soft ice cream treats, burgers, hot dogs, rolls, fried food, seafood dinners, salads, and more. I did not have high expectations for this country seafood restaurant out in the middle of nowhere or so I thought. It has to be some of the best seafood I've ever had and generally when I get seafood I'm getting it right on the beach with fresh catch. The chicken fingers were also delicious. Waitstaff/counter staff was friendly and quick. There are two lines, one for food and one for ice cream which was pretty cool. Best part was the tartar sauce is serve yourself so you can take as much or as little as you want. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Food is cooked when ordered. Comes out hot and the portions are very good size. I like that it fits my taste for mom and pop restaurants.

This year, I have noticed a drop in quality and an increase in price. I was in last week and ordered a large order of fried clams. The quality was average, the quantity was very small (snack size), and the price was insane. $34.99 before tax. This week I stopped at another local place. All in one Market in Henniker and ordered a large fried clam. The quality was excellent, the quantity was easily double that on the high tide and the price was $14.99 before tax. I highly doubt I will be back to the high tide after this experience. read more

Way over priced! Third time this year... won't be going back. The food is OK at best. Not worth 20.99 plus tax for 6 fried clams and a bunch of french Fries. We were going to get ice cream but the same four people had been in line for quite a while and didn't look happy...so slow service and over priced food! read more

My wife and I like the restaurant, my wife for the seafood I for the chicken and burgers. Staff is very friendly and helpful, 6 stars !!! The only issue I have is that that chicken has a small taste of fish. If you could have a separate fryer for chicken it would be great ! read more

Had I written this review previous to my most recent visit it would have been 4 stars, but they were so slow this last time they get the downgrade. Food- 4 Stars Pretty much stay fried seafood. Everything else is somewhere between OK and very bad. The fried seafood rocks. The coleslaw is also good. Service- 1 Star Can be straight up super slow. Prepare to wait esp. at peak times. My Friend and I just went there Friday, August 3. We both had fried Clams, and he had the combo plate with clams and scallops! They do come lightly breaded and deep fried just right! Can't wait to try their steamers!! Plenty of room, porch like setting, screened in. Lots of room for groups! We will be coming back! During my week stay in Deering, NH my friends and I came here almost every night. Great selection of ice cream. A normal order of ice cream is very reasonably priced and the size of two large scoops. If you aren't hungry or only want a small scoop of ice cream, get the kid scoop and even then it might be too much! One of my favorites was the Smore flavor - graham cracker ice cream. Go for the ice cream. The seafood isn't on-par with the better establishments at the seacoast. This is straight off the truck, and not hand-shucked. From Hampton Beach to Harpswell, there's a dozen better places for seafood... which means you have to drive there, verses finding it in Hillsborough. read more

I'm a bit sad at having to write this review. I'm a long standing customer of this restaurant.. although my visits over the years have gotten fewer & fewer due to the new owners mismanagement. There was a time when this place was excellent. Unfortunately those days are gone. I took my husband here for father's day. We ordered the fried mushrooms & Captain's Combo Includes: Sea Scallops, Native Shrimp, Haddock & Clams or Clam Strips Well the Mushrooms were tiny & "sea scallops" are bay scallops.. cut in half ( I think the greedy new owner needed a microscope to cut those tiny creatures) native shrimp were tiny & the whole belly clams were more like clam strips.. or fish bait.. All this for 30 dollars. They even skimped on the fries for god's sake ! It's a very sad state of affairs when you stoop to cheating your decades old customers just to pocket a few pennies :( read more

High Tide just opened for the season in mid-April, and I'm so excited! This place is a summer essential for me. Their food menu is primarily fried seafood. They have a lobster roll and onion rings deal going on for $15. I mostly come here for ice cream, though. They have flavor swirl soft serve and hard ice creams. There's a nice screened in porch where you can eat your food if it's chilly or rainy. Otherwise there are picnic tables outside and a small playground for kids. read more

Ahh, High Tide. I'm not sure there's anything better than a plate of fried anything and a frosty frappe or ice cream soda to wash it down. I love the lobster roll, but if I'm hungry I tend toward a plate of fried clams. The fried scallops, haddock, and clams are all terrific. Onion rings and fries are standard and tasty. The fried pickles are a treat -- but keep in mind that one order would probably feed a table of people as an appetizer. I've never ordered the non-seafood items because...why??? Ice cream sodas get a special mention here. If you're not familiar with this New England treat, it's a deceptively simple combination of ice cream, milk, syrup, and seltzer. When it's done right, it has a more complex flavor and lighter feel than a milkshake, and it just gets better as the ice cream fizzes into the seltzer. For a coffee ice cream soda, coffee syrup is key. High Tide knows this. They have the recipe taped to the wall inside so that the new hires become ice cream soda experts in no time. I love getting this old-fashioned treat each year. Five stars for the excellent food, friendly service, and good atmosphere. read more

Here is another example of some fine food but the sad thing is that it is only seasonal. Bad for us who are still here all winter/ good for them because they get out of here. Because it is seasonal with it's outdoor screened in area, makes you think you are at the ocean, you really look forward to High Tide opening. If it's chilly they have heaters they turn on. The food is good seafood many ways. If you want to eat healthy you can, but fried food is so yummy. The people who work there are usually high school and college kids and they are all smiles and pleasant even though that place is-a-hoppin' from open to close. They have a Cruise night every week that people look forward to also.It's a nice place, good prices, and family friendly. They have an outdoor swing set and picnic tables if you don't get taken away by the May Flies or Mosquitoes. read more
