On a recent road trip we were trying to find a good southern lunch along our way. The billboards drew us to Higher Ground. The slight detour off the highway was totally worth it for this gem. We had not planned on getting burgers because we had them in mind for dinner, but the choices were so awesome and they were the best burgers we had on our entire trip. I had to go with the southern version with pimento cheese and fried green tomato. It was so good, I haven't stopped thinking about this burger since. So many great sides, but went with the standard french fries. I was happy I did, better than expected with a crispy seasoned coating that was amazing. My husband had the hush puppies for his side and our server said that was a good choice, which it was. The crispy, tasty bites have a sweet honey butter for dipping making them absolute perfection. If we were not on a road trip, we would have paired our burgers with one of the many beers available and enjoyed some time on the fun covered outdoor area. Since we were on the road, we appreciated the super fast service and ordered simply sweet tea. By the way, this is true southern sweet tea the way it is meant to be, iced cold with lemon so good we took some to go. Everything came out so quick, our server was super friendly, and the food was not only abundant but top quality and super tasty. We look forward to passing this way again and getting another amazing meal here. read more

I've been to this place several times and I have always walked away satisfied. I took my son there on 10/9/20 after a few boxes of ammo at Palmetto Armory. I order a normal char burger, my son had the charnobyl. The service was great. The meat on the burger was splendid. What really disturbed me was the extras that are supposed to accompany your burger. Standard on my burger was onion, one sprig of lettuce and the butt end of a pickle small enough to cover my thumbnail. Believe it or not, my son's pickle was smaller! Rather than raising the issue and spoiling my time with my son, we finished and left. Why does this happen? Presentation is as important as the meal. I wish I would've taken a picture. And... why no salt and pepper shakers on the tables? read more

Called ahead to check wait and there was none! They are doing social distancing seating so at half capacity indoor. Greeted and seated promptly and service great. Ordered burger and fries and both were very good. Beer is only in bottles right now but also cold and good enough. Desserts ordered and did not disappoint! This place is very very good for burgers. Even the one time I accidently ordered some kind of ridiculous mushroom feta spinach hippie dip kind of burger, it still rocked. I ordered the Monster burger the following visit to make up for it, to my wife's chagrin. Yes I left cross-eyed full but it was killer. Pimento cheese is on point, beer selection is VERY good, incredibly friendly and effective staff. My only minus is the back patio, if you happen to get the last two tables on the risen cement.
