Good food, fantastic service! Kayli was very attentive and friendly! As my wife told her, "a breath of fresh air". Even in handling a negative situation at the next table she used wit and friendly responses to totally defuse the situation. We thoroughly enjoyed the fried mushrooms and large portions. My wife loved the Charburger with cheese, though she had to take half of it home with most of her sweet potato fries, which were awesome! The Char-Noble was also excellent though not for the faint of heart with the Ghost pepper cheese. My only suggestion would be to add the ability for searing the burgers. My husband and I had our first experience at Higher Ground while traveling home from Savannah. The first thing I noticed while looking online for a place to stop was how unique and varied the menu is. The burger combinations were enough to seal the decision for us. There's a quaint and darling outside eating area but we opted for inside and a comfortable booth by the window. Kate our server approached us quickly and offered great suggestions when I asked for them. She was warm and engaging and instantly accommodated a substitution request I had. Our food was delivered quickly and piping hot. Everything was delicious with a tiny exceptions of a soggy fried green tomato and wilted lettuce (both were a result of the burger being so deliciously hot when put together. When I mentioned it to Kate she immediately took the information to the kitchen concerned that others may have a similar experience and wanting to make sure they don't. . So impressive of her. We were blown away by this restaurant! A large group of us stopped by and the staff was super accommodating. We ordered so much food and all of it was delicious. The burgers were outstanding... some of the best burgers I've ever had. The ooey gooey mooey was fantastic. The wings were great, the fried flounder was good, the fried mushrooms/tomatoes/pickles were all super tasty, the sweet potato fries were amazing. The only thing I had that I didn't love was the regular fries....and they tasted good, just not as good as everything else. We also really enjoyed the desserts. The hands-down best dessert was the warm Blondie... . I'll probably be dreaming of that for a long time to come. So, in summary, this place is great. I ordered a turkey burger and when I received it, the burger was about 3/4 the size of the bun. I asked our waitress why the burger was so small; so she checked with the kitchen and returned to tell me "that's just the size they made them today". She was very sweet but that is an answer the kitchen should be ashamed to send her out with. The taste was fine but I left hungry. Met a friend for dinner. I had the hamburger steak. It was tasty, but I ordered it medium rare and it came out well done. This locals' favorite restaurant is so amazing! Their fries are to die for. So crispy and hot without that heavy oil taste. The burgers are always cooked to perfection, exactly as ordered, and the food comes out fast. My favorite is the grilled buffalo chicken "flip" which is crispy and light. (I mean, it's not a salad, but you know! I splurge when we go here.) I've not ordered a salad, but I've seen them at other tables and they are generous portions and look really good. The "test kitchen" item of the night is up on a board, and so far my husband has always ordered it and loved it. The staff is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They always draw a crowd, which tells you the food is good. Outside seating as well as inside. My husband tried the bbq and liked it as well. Their is ample parking, and it's not in busy Harbeson. First ever visit today to Higher Ground for an early dinner. We drove over from Lexington. My wife and I each tried the craft burgers and upgraded our sides. The Creaky Rocker and Death By Bacon burgers were excellent and the tasty Onion Rings and Chili Cheese Fries were great side choices. Ashely, our server made us feel welcome, was cheerful and personable and her service was great. We were acknowledged as soon as we arrived and when we were leaving. I personally go for the Cocky Doodle, which has bacon and a fried egg on it - my personal favorite way to enjoy a burger. Everything about the burger is perfect. The bun is fresh and grilled, burger cooked to perfection, and served with delicious fresh cut french fries. Food aside, the atmosphere here is fantastic, too. It's casual, cozy, and they have a great selection of craft beer and craft sodas. Great for a quick lunch or dinner with the kids. Using Yelp, you can check where you are in line and it'll even let you know when your table is ready. We were sat quickly, and our server (Kari) was quick, friendly, and efficient! I had the "death by bacon" burger and she had the blackened shrimp plate. THESE PEOPLE CUT NO CORNERS WHEN IT COMES TO FRESHNESS AND TRULY LIVE UP TO THEIR "MADE TO ORDER" PHILOSOPHY with great portions and prices to boot! Seriously, this place is good.
