I have ordered either 3-4 times on Postmates from Ahimsa Vegan Cafe. Each time I get more disappointed because there is always something that is wrong on my order. The last time I ordered from here the food tasted bad (read my last post) and decided that it would be my last time I would be ordering from here. Radhi, the owner reached out to me on yelp and offered me either a full refund or a complimentary meal. To my surprise, she actually gave me several meals on the house because she wanted me to try the different food items on the menu. I ordered two spicy ranch chikn burgers added bacon to both burgers (both comes with french fries), one chocolate chip cookie, and an order of the vegan nacho fries. I went to pick up at the restaurant for the first time and I love all the decors. I met another owner, Megan. She was really nice and accommodating. She highly recommended a drink for me that I completely forgot what the name of it was. It had I believe ginger and lemonade in it. It was really good. I was not a fan of the nacho fries. I thought it was great that it had a lot of protein, but the cheese had a very strange aftertaste and smell. Unfortunately, I had to throw them away. I thought the chikn burgers and fries were very good. Adding bacon to my burger made it even more delicious. The veggies here are always fresh. I will be back to try different things on the menu and I will be back for that yummy drink. Hopefully I will remember the name when I go back there haha! read more

Kind of an odd experience on my birthday... After a great day at the Long Beach Aquarium, l looked up vegan/vegetarian places in the area. Since it was a holiday (New Year's Day) we made some phone calls and two other places were closed. The vibe and concept of the restaurant is great. Ahimsa means not to do harm. There is artsy painting on the wall and a piano. I was interested in the vegan nachos but, they actually ran out of tortilla chips. Was interested in another menu item but, they ran out of spinach. So, me and the partner-in-dine were not super hungry but, wanted something fairly light. He went with a smoothie that was mostly carrot. For our light snack, we had soup and bread. It took around 30 mins later to have my chicken-like nuggets and bbq sauce. The soup and nuggets were fine. My sweetie enjoyed the smoothie and soup. The cashiers were kind and even wished me a Happy birthday. Unimpressive experience overall. I would only return if I had a gift card or gift certificate to give this place another chance. read more

4/23/2021. One week later! The owner, Mr. Radhi reached out to me about my fiesta nachos experience from my previous visit and corrected it promptly! He was genuinely sorry and was eager to welcome me back for a complimentary order of nachos. I ordered an Ahimsa Burger, a Spicy Chik'n Ranch Burger, a Jalapeño Avocado burger and 2 chocolate chip cookies this time! I wish I had taken photos but I was so hungry. When coming to Ahimsa burger, make sure you have your first choice and a back up choice because most likely they would've ran out of whatever you're about to order. Every single time. My last visit was really disappointing. I ordered a Chipotle burger with a choice of a side soup, mozzarella sticks and a mint lemonade. This transpired at 3pm on a Tuesday so I'm not sure why they ran out of everything I ordered so early. 1. They ran out of house patties and offered a beyond patty which I recommend don't buying because it has sticks and others hard indigestible substances. 2. They ran out of other soups and only had one left. 3. They ran out of mint lemonade and offered tea. I have yet to try a juice or lemonade from here because they always offer tea instead. 4. When I returned from my seat to order another tea... They ran out... I wasn't surprised. I want to love the place but if I have any vegan cravings I won't be coming here as my first choice because most likely they probably won't have what's on the menu. read more

I got the breakfast sandwich and it was horrible. I had to have them remake it once because ingredients were missing. The second time it was equally bad. There are missing pieces of the bread, big chunks of tomato, old avocado, and 2 tiny pieces of "bacon." I've been supporting this small business for some time because it's really close to my home and the food has been ok. But something happened a couple months ago and the quality and care in preparing the food is nonexistent. Do not recommend! read more

Love the food and the sustainable approach. They also have plant based deserts and ice cream. Decor is basic/dirty and tables are often dirty or else I'd give them 5-stars. Service is mediocre (sometimes with an attitude) and can be slow. We keep coming, just have to curb our expectations for customer service. read more

if you have time, check out their menu online before coming here. the line can get long in the blink of an eye during lunch. i ordered the strips and a sandwich and both of them were awesome! the strips had a good texture--not rubbery. the sandwich was my favorite part of my lunch. the bbq sauce they make here is the best and i wish i can eat it with everything. ask for a small container of it and let me know if u agree what i'm sayin also, the hibiscus flower iced tea that i got on the side wasn't sweet but it was a great refresher!! note: this place is great to eat for on a date. i don't feel gross after i eat here and that's a plus. read more

Every vegan restaurant I visit I make sure I try their grilled cheese and I must say that Ahimsa's is the best one that I've ever had! The bread has the best crunch and the cheese is nice and gooey. If anyone is stuck on what to order I definitely would recommend getting it. There is a large menu and an assortment of different foods to try, and everything is good from the wraps to the milkshakes (yes vegan milkshakes!!) This place is delicious!!! Came with friends that I'm dropping off at LAX and we all agree we should come back!!! Everything was fresh and so yummy and filling! Food was okay, but on the colder side. The boba on the other hand was borderline undrinkable. I got the lavender milk tea with boba. The tea was so watery and the boba tasted like it was sitting out all day. Kind of disappointed this is the place that I decided to come to while visiting Long Beach. read more

The food here is really delicious and fresh. I loved it. Not too many great vegan places in Long Beach, this is now one of my favorites. Only downside, it took exactly 30 mins for the food to be served. It wasn't really crowded either. read more

Today I decided to try the vegan Jalapeño Cheese Burger as I read some good reviews about it (I normally get the Nachos, daily soup and Thai Bowl) and wow, I must say its delicious. The bread is a little too thick but other than that, it's really really good! I also had a Pakoras appetizer, yummy, will surely be having those two real soon again! And their Samosas (free with Yelp check in) are just the best samosas ever! read more

I went here yesterday on a date. I have a only been a vegan for a few weeks & usually prepare all of my meals at home. However, I am trying to try all the vegan restaurants here in Long Beach. My friend that isn't vegan came here & got the nachos & loved them, so I was really excited to try this place. I got the avocado jalapeño burger. My date got the Teriyaki Bowl with the mock chicken. When I started eating my burger, it surprisingly was not anything special. It actually tasted like the veggie patties that you buy at the store. I was really disappointed with the taste. The fries were alright too. My date however, really enjoyed his teriyaki bowl. He was actually questioning that it was fake chicken. So that is 1 good thing. Overall, my experience was fair. The ladies were there were very nice & friendly so that's good too. I will give this place another chance sometime in the future, but I definitely will not be getting a burger. read more

So my last review was the spring rolls that were horribly made, but the owner reached out to me and was the sweetest human ever & made it right. Just look at how beautiful these spring rolls are!! And they were flipping amazing with there delicious sauce it comes with. They out did themselves and happy they made it right. Ahimsa is still one of my favorite vegan spots in Long Beach. Long wait. Stick to what you like and only order that. Then it's delicious. Food takes an incredibly long time to come out, even to-go orders. (I suggest calling ahead to place your order to kill time.) Can recommend their Vietnamese spring rolls and their hemp kale bowl, but not the buffalo wrap or burgers. Ahimsa was one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach for years, but since the pandemic I've been consistently let down. Overall, disappointing. read more

I make sure to stop by ahimsa whenever i'm in Long Beach--this place is a gem! This last trip I tried the date shake and the spicy ranch chikn burger. The date shake has a nice hit of cinnamon and is the perfect amount of sweet. I added bacon to the chikn burger because their vegan bacon is legit--I definitely recommend this addition! And their sweet potato fries are out of this world. Can't wait til my next visit!! read more

The best sweet potato fries ever ($5.45 ) !! The kale bowl is really good ($10.25) and I asked for the peanut sauce(obsessed) . This is my Day 9 of Plant-Based Diet (AKA Vegan). Other than Simply O Organic Juice Bar, there are no Vegan restaurant near where I live. So I decided to take a trip down to my neighbor city, Long Beach, even though I hate going to Long Beach due to their horrible Parking situation. There will be an obstacles in life that may discourage you from doing what you are destined to do, but eventually the destiny will bring you to the right place no matter what. This is how I felt about coming to Ahimsa today. I was meant to be here eating their Rainbow Wrap. The place had a nice new age feeling decos. The place made me feel like I was in the 60's where I would run into John Lennon casually playing their piano. Anyway, the Rainbow Wrap! It is the must have. I ordered the Rainbow Wrap with Mock Chicken. And little did I know I would be experiencing the flavor I was craving for the whole 9 days of my Vegan journey. Radish sprouts, Avocado, and soy-sauce based sauce inside the wrap made my brain to think that I am eating not the Rainbow Wrap, but Rainbow Hand-roll from a Sushi restaurant. Growing up in Japan eating only the real Sushi, it is my struggle and will be my struggle to give up Sushi and Sashimi all together with my new lifestyle. But with my eyes closed while eating this wrap, I can almost trick my brain to think that I am eating sushi hand-roll. Mock Chicken was really good too, weird combination to throw a fried chicken like texture to sushi like taste but somehow it worked. Come and try it for yourself and you will know what I mean. OMG. Where do I begin. This place was a nightmare. Shouldn't there be a no stars or negative stars option? This place is WAAAAAY too busy for the amount of staff on the floor. Need more workers to accommodate everyone. Waiting time is unacceptable. The phone was ringing off the hook, the manager looked frantic, the guys running the food looked like they didn't know what they were doing. There was no order. ...and the manager was doing most of the work taking orders and handling the phone line and bagging phone/pick up orders and calling out orders. It was so busy in there. The people that were waiting for their food looked upset and people that waited for over half an hour for walk in orders were leaving. This place was unorganized. Our "buffalo cauliflower wings" were undercooked and had raw watery dough filled inside of it and the sauce was so oily. read more

It's hit or miss, depending on which staff works there, or still works there. THE GOOD When Ahimsa is on point, the food is absolutely wonderful. They were one of the earlier places in LB to offer vegan options at a more contemporary setting. THE BAD When Ahisma is off point, they'll do things like ignore what you say and start explaining to you a "book with pictures" which has things you can order - meanwhile, the staff might be irate having to explaining this to you. ...then you'll be a little irate as well, because you already knew about this "book with pictures" - it's called a menu, and told them this isn't your first time visit. OR, the food will take forever. 40-50 min range, from quite a few experiences. The RESULTS The few good experiences I've had earns the 2 stars. read more

I went with my vegetarian wife after the aquarium. The food was good, felt like the quality of the ingredients was also good. The place was really quiet. We were the only ones eating and no one showed up until we were leaving (around 4pm). The food was good though. I got the Ahimsa Chipotle Burger with sweet potato fries (amazing), the burger was a tad dry and the fries were great. Overall id give it a 6.5/10 for my meal. My wifes food was also about the same. The boba however is great! If you want to try boba for the first time or just like it in general, this is a great spot to start. Fresh Taro and Original Milk tea were great. read more

I'm going to miss this places when I move back east in August. The barbeque bacon bugger is consistent, and consistently awesome. Hope I find one as good back in Chapel Hill. I just read a review from a customer complaining about there being an hour long wait for carryout. Well fortunately this place ain't McDonalds. It's a legit cafe restaurant with great food. And they're popular. So be patient... and enjoy the food. read more

We decided to try this place because we wanted to eat some food without meat and it's super close to our house. We ordered the lemonade, samosa, nachos and blt. Everything was great and service was wonderful. My remarks would be that the samosa was just too expensive for how small it is. We thought we were getting more for the price. Yikes! The blt was also just meh, probably not the best choice for a vegan restaurant tho. Lemonade and nachos!!! So great. The nachos had a wonderful chipotle sauce that really made it great. I love their food but have grown more knowledgeable about healthy oils. Do they use veg, canola, corn or anything not considered healthy? And do they use GMO produce?

Firstly, since it's all plant-based, I was able to eat literally anything off the menu, which is always delightful. Started the meal with a Tricolore Salad and the Pizza Montanara for appetizers. The Salad was good, best when you can get a bit of every ingredient in each bite. The Pizza Montanara was hotter than magma when we received it, but once it cooled and we were able to tear it into pieces, it was very, very good. These two items themselves would be a great light meal. We had glasses of red wine with the main course, which paired well with the pastas we chose. One Vesuvio, which was really tasty with a little chili heat (not so much so that it made eating it a rough job,) and another pasta dish that I can't recall the name of that was very lemony and cooling. We both shared these dishes and the alternating between the two very different flavor profiles was really fun. The online menu doesn't have these pastas listed in the "Dinner" section, but the in-store menu did. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that they were out of things like meatballs, olives, and a couple other items, but we were still able to choose dishes that were delicious. The restaurant's vibe is very laidback and like, elevated casual, if that makes sense. They have great little water glasses and everything has a modern feel, from the green decor accents to the fancy pasta forks, which are the first of their kind I've ever seen. The bathroom had a bidet, which was my first experience with the same, and it was cool and fun. Thorough! I laughed at the sticker on the bidet saying it WILL spray you in the face. All in all, this was a fantastic experience. Definitely be patient with finding parking, as we all know how 4th Street is. This will likely become a favorite celebration meal destination.

We snuck through the back just to get in, people standing and blocking traffic because there was no room and space. We had to wait in a small crammed isle area towards the bathroom. It took awhile for our simple togo order to get done--which was also mistakenly given to someone else. They couldn't figure out simple logistics. There were also others who got wrong orders while we stood there waiting. They had to re-make people's pizzas while the pizza had to be given away for free because it had already been touched. My gripe is that in the future, if you're having an event, (maybe they do this here all the time), please have a floor manager to alleviate the crowd and simple operations and logistics to handle the lines, the crowd control, and providing fast and accurate service. Not just making the food right, but with time, and a comfortable environment. They could have made it more. It was so busy, that they either looked to be short-staffed or got confused on a lot of their orders. In short, in the future their manager should do better in operations and executing the the transactions to flow more smoothly. If you're having a guest performer, find a way to also make that work better. Maybe make people not block the pathways, more chairs or seating outside, have a bigger venue or open some areas to fit better..maybe they like this intimate atmosphere but it did not work for half of the guests there just trying to get in and out. This review is not to burn the spot but to encourage them do better in the future. This is just to help them understand and hopefully this helps to provide constructive feedback..because I know the owner here reads a lot of these comments..

The whole interaction made me feel very uncomfortable and not welcome, like I was a criminal the restaurant was watching out for or something- when it was my first time visiting. I almost didn't make this review but felt it should be known if this interaction happened to someone else and I want anyone in the future to know that this is a recurring incident.
