Came in with my son he moved to LB from Redondo. Anyway, he's been there before, and he ordered these fried pickles. He offered me the first bite. I took a pretty good bite. Whet I did, extremely hot oil shot into my mouth scalding my tissue, you know what I mean, that raw mouth for 3 or 4 days. We tried their BLT, fried chicken sandwich, fried zucchini, and fried pickles spears and everything tasted great. We were especially impressed by all the fried foods! The zucchini and pickles were so crunchy and hot, while the fries that came with the sandwiches were perfectly crispy. I love a fried chicken sandwich and thought this vegan version was really tasty. The vegan chicken is a bit softer than real chicken but taste wise it was quite similar. Really friendly and quick service, dog friendly, and a cute atmosphere. I have been wanting to come here for years after I heard about their amazing weekend brunch and thankfully, I found myself in the area last Sunday! Sadly, they are only open two days a week for only 5 hours each day, which makes it a bit hard to visit! Nevertheless, it was well worth the drive from Los Angeles! I was able to find parking on the side street right by the restaurant and parking seemed plentiful in the area. There is a gorgeous patio on the street, but I opted to dine inside to stay out of the sun. I was greeted by the very friendly staff upon arrival and they were quick to take my order. I opted for the pancakes, as I was in the mood for something sweet. The pancakes were very delicious and very pillowy. I loved the fruit and coconut whipped cream, which added an extra decadence to the meal. The pancakes were pretty light and while they were filling, it didn't feel heavy in my stomach. The other food I saw being brought out looked equally delicious. The vibes inside were very fun and vibrant and I felt great eating there. The restaurant was spacious but at the same time still felt cozy. The seating was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff checked on me frequently and were very helpful and personable. Payment is by cash, Zelle and Venmo so be sure to have one of those handy! The restaurant is also steps away from the beach and a walkway, so a perfect way to burn off the food after you eat! I had the Burrizo and my wife had the Chive BLT. Both were excellent. Service was fine. The reason I only gave 3 stars is because of the two people sitting a few tables away. It looked like they were working on something. They might have been employees of the place?? There was no food in sight on their table. The one doing most of the talking was on speaker phone with someone that was pretty freaking loud. We kept hoping the phone call would end but of course it didn't. We used to get the vegan Monte Cristo and other delights when The Wild Chive (vegan) was a pop-up at the LB Farmers Market (years ago). This was our first time getting to visit their brick-and-mortar spot. Wow! Such a fun interior (disco balls are always a win!) and lots of seating inside as well as some shaded tables outside. The playlist was great! Before we left I went inside to ask about the playlist . They were so great to share it with me! The large kitchen window just adds to the cool interior. We were at Mangiafoglie (another vegan/plant-based restaurant) last night for dinner and saw a poster advertising Long Beach Food Scene Week. As soon as I saw that Wild Chive was advertising a Carne Asada Banh Mi (freshly-baked baguette, pickled carrots, sriracha, cilantro, Fresno chiles, crispy fried shallots, and house-made cilantro-lime aioli + a side salad) I knew that the MR. would want to go there for lunch. This was def the best Bahn Mi that he has ever had! I opted for something a with a little less spice! Oat Milk Berry Pancakes for me! I've had this spot bookmarked for a few years and I'm mad that I waited so long to try it. The brunch menu was simple and easy to choose from, which I appreciated. Areli gave us great recommendations and fast service. She and another lass helped us get rid of some frustrating hiccups. They tried scaring tactics, mental games and finally a shot of hot sauce, which did the trick. They went above and beyond and made The Wild Chive a new favorite Long Beach spot. The sidewalk seating was very relaxing and dog friendly , very appreciated as well. It's all street parking, but it wasn't that hard to find a spot even on a Saturday at noon. The vibe is unmatched--great music, a friendly and diverse staff, and a menu full of affordable, flavorful vegan dishes. The new iteration of Wild Chive is awesome! They have now turned into an order at the counter coffee house with wifi and homemade food and homemade pastries during the week, and on the weekends, they have full wait staff service for breakfast and brunch. Same owners and the same great quality food, but now you can work here during the day like other coffee hang's in a really nice light filled environment. Ambiance: Perfect little stop where they have indoor and outdoor seating. The open garage door where you get the fresh air and the cover of being inside helped so much. Loved that they were dog friendly so you can have company while you enjoyed your meal. Staff: The staff is efficient and made sure we had what we needed. You order via a QR code to see their updated menu. Paying did take a minute to handle since everyone seemed to try to do it at once, but we were not in a rush. Food: Get the patty melt. I do not know what magic they did to that patty, but it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. It was perfectly cooked and the toppings made it incredible. **this is going to be a more collective review as i've gone here a couple times when i've travelled to LB. (biscuit is most recent Dec 2024, while the rest is July 2024). every time i go here, the menu changes a little bit so bit if a bummer when i can't try the same dishes i've had previously. but on the plus side there is more room for variety and new things to try. the chick'n and biscuit is great, bacon a bit tough and hard to chew through but if you soak it with a bit of gravy it'll suffice. montecristo is my absolute fave to order here though, comes with jam and a generous dusting of sugar. it's definitely big enough to share as a small brunch. the space is cute, and the service is even better. great place to get veg comfort meals! read more

I am not vegan but don't mind a bit of healthy food. I came here for an early lunch with a group this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised. I previewed the menu before arriving, so had a good idea of what I wanted. It was a debate, however, between the country breakfast and bbq chik'n salad. I opted for the salad, as it was one of the newer items on the menu, according to our server. And boy, am I happy I did! The chik'n was very flavourful -- I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce (I even asked for extra). The salad is also tossed with a southwestern ranch dressing. Personally, the dressing was a little chive-y for my taste, so I would have gone a little lighter on it.. but that's OK -- I was able to tone it down with the extra BBQ. We also had some fried zucchini, which was also very tasty. My one recommendation to the restaurant would be to have larger water glasses. I felt like our server had to constantly come over to fill out glasses, as you get about three sips from them. (We had just finished a walk, so were pretty thirsty.) They also have tons of gluten free options and everything I've tried was absolutely amazing. The restaurant is open air and has lots of room for dogs, kids, strollers, etc. The staff is super friendly and accommodating- I always love chatting with them. Heads up - Weekends require reservation! The Wild Chive has such a cute interior! Hanging lights, wooden accents, RBG on the wall... it's a vibe! It felt so fresh and open. There's also an outdoor seating area. I'm always intrigued by vegan food, and everything on their menu sounded delicious. We ordered the Shroom Burger, Chive BLT, Grilled Burrizo, Pickle Fries, and side of French Toast. Everything came out hot and fresh (emphasis on HOT! I burned myself on the Burrizo haha). The pickle fries were crispy and yummy, but the dipping sauce was too salty IMO. The french toast was pretty standard - nothing to write home about here. Other than that, everything else was overly salty, and unfortunately, not enjoyable for me :( I'm not sure if that's the nature of vegan foods, but it was a bit hard to finish due to the saltiness. While I loved the interior and friendly service of The Wild Chive, don't think I'll be returning as the food was overly salty. read more

The burger was delicious, too, but those fries are very memorable!!! Service was phenomenal. Our waitress was incredible!!! Super friendly and helpful. The hostess was great, as well. Haven't been here in years. Not from the area. Decided to try it again. It's not what I remembered it to be. Quality and service has gone downhill unfortunately. Maybe under new management. The ambience: really loud music should be turned down a bit--even for me. I don't know how people can sit inside and eat. You can barely hear yourselves talk. Seating outside available ONLY for takeout as they don't tend to customers outdoor. Tables were not clean. The food: extremely OVERPRICED. Such a small portion for what you get. The Sammie was so small and I'm a small person I thought it was little portion. The fries looked so skimpy as well. Not also was it small but it wasn't even good tbh. No flavor. Quality: their sandwich was so messy to eat. It was dripping wet and the slice of tomato was big--not thinly cut. Imo presentation is not for aesthetics but also keeping in mind how the customer receives the product. How would you expect a person to open their mouths wide trying to bite a large piece of tomato and everything oozing out. Price: too pricey for one item. Over $20 for a tiny burger and small hand of fries. Not worth it. The price point should be less than that. Doesn't meet the standards of what other $20 vegan restaurants offer. Service: food took so long to get. Waited nearly 30mins just for one order! Horrible. The staff were nice but that's about it. Will not be returning unfortunately. Save yourself the time and money. This place was SUPER GOOD. The staff was not only exceptionally kind and nice, but the food was AMAZING. I also loved the ambiance and how comfortable the vibe was. Only issue was this rude lady and her party sat next to us today outside, and were being so mean to the staff saying that one of their servers were mean and the food was undercooked... and when I accidentally looked over real quick she made eye contact with me and goes "normal conversation with normal people." I legit ignored, but god what a downer. Not the restaurant's fault at all, but if that lady and her group ever sees this, I hope you guys treat servers with more kindness.
