I really like the concept and space of the Wild Chive. The owners seem very close with the community and the restaurant has an open patio that makes the area seem bigger and more inviting. They don't take card - just cash, Zelle, or Venmo so be prepared! Overall the menu was a bit hit or miss. Crispy Zucchini Sticks - 5/5 Best thing we had on the menu! Had the perfect balance of a crispy outside and a soft juicy inside. Goes great with the dipping sauces. Lowkey some of the best zucchini sticks I've had. Southern Fried Chick'n Sammie - 4/5 Pretty good! Chewy and flavorful. Tasted like a chicken sandwich. The bacon was alright but overall a good sandwich. Bread was a little thick. Tater Tots and Salad - 3/5 Tater tots were cooked until crispy, but these are your standard tots and salad. Pastrami Sandwich - 1/5 Not a fan. I would skip this and get another sandwich next time. I came here for a Friday lunch. It wasn't too crowded. Perhaps we caught them on an off day, but service was extremely slow. We sat down and looked at the menu, which was different than the menu on their website that I previously looked at prior to coming that day. Not a big deal, I just ordered something different. We sat and sat, and finally a server came over to take our order. We got the burrito, BLT, and Chick'n biscuit. I will say the prices are on the high side, but since it is vegan I do understand why they might be that way. We waited quite a while for our food. We noticed the parties that were here before us still did not get their food either. Luckily, we were not in a rush to get back to work that day. The food was not bad for imitation meat. I especially enjoyed the fries with the vegan aioli. I also liked the crunchy crust of the mock fried chicken. I was a little bit disappointed in the service because our server never came in to check on us. Our glasses were empty, and we needed refills, but she was nowhere to be found. This place wasn't too bad. I can't say I eat at a lot of vegan restaurants and am not a vegan myself, but I thought the food was great for a vegan restaurant. The issue was the lack of service. It has a very cool vibe and is in a great open space. Our server was very friendly and provided good service, but we had to follow up a few times on things we asked for and didn't receive. The food was great! I had the BLT and my wife had the cheese steak. We also ordered the cornbread waffles to share. The sandwiches were very filling, flavorful and did not leave me wanting meat at all. However the waffles were the star. They were so delicious and interesting. The Wild Chive has become one of our new favorite places, now that we have relocated to Long Beach. We have been here twice, and each time we've raved over the food - this time around we got to try the famed Monte Cristo, along with the Country Breakfast. Excellent service from Kess (sp?) both times, and we love that The Wild Chive is dog-friendly as well. I have been wanting to come here for years after I heard about their amazing weekend brunch and thankfully, I found myself in the area last Sunday! Sadly, they are only open two days a week for only 5 hours each day, which makes it a bit hard to visit! Nevertheless, it was well worth the drive from Los Angeles! I was able to find parking on the side street right by the restaurant and parking seemed plentiful in the area. There is a gorgeous patio on the street, but I opted to dine inside to stay out of the sun. I was greeted by the very friendly staff upon arrival and they were quick to take my order. I opted for the pancakes, as I was in the mood for something sweet. The pancakes were very delicious and very pillowy. I loved the fruit and coconut whipped cream, which added an extra decadence to the meal. The pancakes were pretty light and while they were filling, it didn't feel heavy in my stomach. The other food I saw being brought out looked equally delicious. The vibes inside were very fun and vibrant and I felt great eating there. The restaurant was spacious but at the same time still felt cozy. The seating was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff checked on me frequently and were very helpful and personable. Payment is by cash, Zelle and Venmo so be sure to have one of those handy! The restaurant is also steps away from the beach and a walkway, so a perfect way to burn off the food after you eat! We used to get the vegan Monte Cristo and other delights when The Wild Chive (vegan) was a pop-up at the LB Farmers Market (years ago). This was our first time getting to visit their brick-and-mortar spot. Wow! Such a fun interior (disco balls are always a win!) and lots of seating inside as well as some shaded tables outside. As soon as I saw that Wild Chive was advertising a Carne Asada Banh Mi (freshly-baked baguette, pickled carrots, sriracha, cilantro, Fresno chiles, crispy fried shallots, and house-made cilantro-lime aioli + a side salad) I knew that the MR. would want to go there for lunch. (biscuit is most recent Dec 2024, while the rest is July 2024). every time i go here, the menu changes a little bit so bit if a bummer when i can't try the same dishes i've had previously. but on the plus side there is more room for variety and new things to try. the chick'n and biscuit is great, bacon a bit tough and hard to chew through but if you soak it with a bit of gravy it'll suffice. montecristo is my absolute fave to order here though, comes with jam and a generous dusting of sugar. it's definitely big enough to share as a small brunch. the space is cute, and the service is even better. great place to get veg comfort meals! read more

They have now turned into an order at the counter coffee house with wifi and homemade food and homemade pastries during the week, and on the weekends, they have full wait staff service for breakfast and brunch. Same owners and the same great quality food, but now you can work here during the day like other coffee hang's in a really nice light filled environment. I am not vegan but don't mind a bit of healthy food. I came here for an early lunch with a group this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised. I previewed the menu before arriving, so had a good idea of what I wanted. It was a debate, however, between the country breakfast and bbq chik'n salad. I opted for the salad, as it was one of the newer items on the menu, according to our server. And boy, am I happy I did! The chik'n was very flavourful -- I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce (I even asked for extra). The salad is also tossed with a southwestern ranch dressing. Personally, the dressing was a little chive-y for my taste, so I would have gone a little lighter on it.. but that's OK -- I was able to tone it down with the extra BBQ. We also had some fried zucchini, which was also very tasty. My one recommendation to the restaurant would be to have larger water glasses. I felt like our server had to constantly come over to fill out glasses, as you get about three sips from them. (We had just finished a walk, so were pretty thirsty.) Heads up - Weekends require reservation! The Wild Chive has such a cute interior! Hanging lights, wooden accents, RBG on the wall... it's a vibe! It felt so fresh and open. There's also an outdoor seating area. I'm always intrigued by vegan food, and everything on their menu sounded delicious. We ordered the Shroom Burger, Chive BLT, Grilled Burrizo, Pickle Fries, and side of French Toast. Everything came out hot and fresh (emphasis on HOT! I burned myself on the Burrizo haha). The pickle fries were crispy and yummy, but the dipping sauce was too salty IMO. The french toast was pretty standard - nothing to write home about here. Other than that, everything else was overly salty, and unfortunately, not enjoyable for me :( I'm not sure if that's the nature of vegan foods, but it was a bit hard to finish due to the saltiness. Quality: their sandwich was so messy to eat. It was dripping wet and the slice of tomato was big--not thinly cut. How would you expect a person to open their mouths wide trying to bite a large piece of tomato and everything oozing out. Price: too pricey for one item. Over $20 for a tiny burger and small hand of fries. Not worth it. The price point should be less than that. Doesn't meet the standards of what other $20 vegan restaurants offer.
