    Berried and Almond Organic Cake

What a great vegan spot in Long Beach! Adequate seating inside with a couple of tables outside. Great variety of menu options. I had the wet chicken burrito with side of chips , rice and beans. It was spectacular-clean and very filling . For dessert, the berry almond cake and très Leche cake-both amazing but preference was for berry or sure. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommend. Need o come back for taco Tuesday three dollar tacos!

Super Roll, not good at all

So... I decided to try this spot due to some food restrictions I've been cursed upon. I mostly can't have dairy or highly acidic foods or spicy stuff. I went in, nice environment. Lots of seating available and only one server but he was quick and kind. I ordered one Super Roll and a Coco Paradise Smoothie. The smoothie was pretty good, it tasted mostly of banana and I kinda liked the pieces of coconut flakes within each sip. So I was pleased by that. However, the roll genuinely disappointed me. It was basically just unseasoned veggies wrapped in seaweed. I also wasn't fond of the sauce, it tasted a bit like watered down mustard. I'm aware there's other menu options that might meet my needs. So I'm willing to give it a second chance with a different menu item. Hopefully it'll be much better. But for now, I give it a big no on the veggie sushi. I quite love sushi so much and this was one of the most disappointed I've been.

Really nice wet burrito! The quesabirria was not my favorite but it was still good. Service was attentive and nice and the outdoor seating was nice and relaxing on a summer day. Definitely looking forward to coming back! We thought the food was artfully presented as well!

Tried their tacos for the first time today and.... OMG they are SO good! The flavor of asada was perfectly delicious along the fresh tortilla and green salsa! Honestly one of the best vegan tacos I have ever tried. They even give you a grilled onion, red salsa, & jalapeno for extra flavor

I won't lie like I lied to my ex wife . Portions are great the rice for sure had great flavors and to tofu chicken I wanted more. But the mole burrito itself wasn't my cup of tea but it was sweet or maybe I'm not a mole person like my ungrateful ex wife but overall I would definitely go back if I'm Cali again .

A very cute little plant based restaurant with a big menu. Always love supporting vegan local businesses! At first it seems like a Mexican spot based on the decor but the menu has a bit of everything. Loved how breakfast is available all day. I ended up getting the grilled veggie wrap and was surprised when I bit into it that it was an Asian wrap. There is no mention of that on the menu description, in fact it says "pesto." Not that that's bad it's just not what I was expecting or craving so it made the whole meal a little off. My bf got the wrap as well and only took a few bites. My aunt & sister got Mexican dishes and got some shakes and everything looked really good! Service was great! Indoor (minimal) and outdoor seating available. Parking is street parking - but was easy to find.

I'm sad to say that I've lived in the neighborhood for 6 years and only visited this place for the first time yesterday. They have one of the best veggie burgers I've ever had. It was fresh, flavorful, and healthy. The roasted side potatoes were delicious as well. The restaurant also has great ambiance and kind staff. Thank you, I will be back!

I always love an experience at one of The Grain Cafe locations, but this was my first time at the location in Long Beach. The unique thing about this location is they have an added Oaxacan menu full of even more delicious options that do not disappoint! The service was super friendly and our waitress gave great recommendations, the ambiance is very casual and chill, but it can get a little stuffy inside when it's hot. Here are some of the highlights: 4/5 - Dargon Roll: "Tuna", cucumber, carrots, avocado, and a side of soy sauce. A great light and delicious appetizer. Pro tip: the "Tuna" like paste is a little salty, so don't overdo the soy sauce to avoid that extra salty flavor. 5/5 - Chilaqulies Verde: corn tortilla chips, onions, mushroom, zucchini and tofu egg, sautéed in a salsa verde, topped with homemade sour cream, cheese, and avocado. Very delicious, had a nice little kick of spice, but not too overpowering, I would highly recommend this dish! 5/5 - Coconut Blackberry Cake: a delicious blend of fresh coconut and blackberries, without too much of either flavor, perfectly balanced. 4.5/5 - Strawberry Almond Cake: very good, almost as good as the coconut blackberry cake, but a little dryer in taste. However, with the heavier frosting parts, just as delicious with the same texture! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Value: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.33/5

Treated myself the other morning to one of my favorite gluten free meals. Really good attentive service, and it was the perfect quiet atmosphere to enjoy my meal and book at the same time. I don't eat out at restaurants much lately but I really enjoyed my experience!

    Breakfast Burrito

The food here was really delicious. It honestly felt like the kind of breakfast you'd get on a Sunday morning at your abuela's house. The huevos con chorizo were so good, and their hot sauce was it went perfectly with it. The person working there was also really nice, and the whole place had a calm, relaxed vibe. Definitely a spot I'd come back to if I'm in Long Beach again

Quite cute, rusty place. Stopped by for a cup of mocha and a cake. Parking can be tough since it's street parking only. Service is nice and friendly. The cake was great and tasty and moist and coffee is good. The decor, for me, dark and rustic feeling and they have a waterfall wall so it's relaxing. The place is right on the corner of 4th Street & Ximeno Ave so you got the corner view of both streets. They do have indoor and outdoor seating for all seasons. They do have other plain base foods but we're here in the morning so couldn't able to try the foods yet but my friends said that it was great with reasonable price too. Will definitely come back and try them out.

My career is a mobile phlebotomist and I'm always on the go. I found this spot very interesting. I read that we're having a smoothies and juices and my curiosity just took me in there and I got to try one of the most popular smoothies that girl tell me the berry berry what's one of the customers favorite. I was looking for something green honestly, but since I hear that I was like OK, let's give it a shot. My concern was a little bit about the sweetness. But then when they give it to me, I tried out and it was delicious. It hit the spot that really worked out or replacing me a meal for another hour. This was looking pretty busy. They were at least six tables busy so that means the food is good. I can't wait to come back to try their food and the pastries the cakes oh my gosh, they were looking delicious and some people were eating out as well. I was in a rush, so maybe next time with the more time I can check more of the menu out.. for right now now I have another spot to order my smoothie. I can't wait to try more of the menu. For parking situation of the parking, my goodness is a little hard, but not impossible. You must have to park a little far away, but you can find parking around. Good luck if you were trying to see like a breakfast lunch a spot definitely give this one a chance to impress you like it did to me.

    Breakfast

Visited The Grain Cafe during a recent vacation. Searched for vegan food for breakfast and ended up here. My husband got The Grain breakfast and I got the omelet. Both were so good, and well seasoned. Sometimes you go to an organic vegan spot and it seems to be lacking a little something... flavor, spice, whatever. Not here! Food like this makes it easy to eat healthy! If you're in the area, do NOT miss it!

Not a super huge fan of French cuisine; however, the menu looked good and mostly reasonable prices. Restaurant is super cute with indoor/outdoor seating. We started off with a bottle of cab (41.00, ouch)! It was noted as a different brand on their menu and they came with a bottle of Josh Cellars which isn't a bad table wine but about 3 times the price! We ended up ordering the fondue for the app (24.00) which comes with bite size pieces of bread and diced apples. It was ok, a little too runny and had an interesting hint of beer flavor. Next up we both ordered the brie & prosciutto sandwich which came with a side of au gratin and greens. The sandwich was excellent but the potatoes were cold. We ended our meal sharing creme brulee for dessert. It was good but also served cold. Total bill incl tip: 163.00 bucks (double ouch)! Overall, meal and service was good, but I would forego the wine on a future visit as it was way overpriced for the brand we got as well as the cheese fondue. Will definitely be back though. Everything feels clean, classy and thoughtfully put together. When you first arrive, seeing the line out the door can be a little intimidating. Usually at places like this, I feel like I have to fight for my life to find a table, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. The staff was very kind and asks how many are in your party and helps you get a table, which made everything much less stressful. They also give you menus while you wait so you can decide what you want ahead of time. We arrived at 10:30am and our wait was about 30 minutes so by the time we were able to order at 11am, the lunch menu was also available. I ordered the tater tots, Cinnagave Shaken Espresso, Dutch Baby Pancake and country sourdough toast with jam. With tax and tip, my total came out to around $40. It's definitely pricier than what I normally pay for breakfast. Most entrées range from $17-$34 and coffees are around $5-$10, so you can easily spend $30+ for one person. In these hard times, that's not exactly ideal for me. I also wanted to try a pastry to get the full experience, but when I found out the small blackberry danish was $7, I decided to pass. I just couldn't justify getting that close to $50 for breakfast for one person. Now for the food! The country sourdough toast with jam was actually my favorite item. The homemade sourdough was incredible and honestly deserves its roses. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it was so well done and easily the standout for me. Visually, the Dutch Baby Pancake was beautiful and definitely impressive when it came out. I've always wanted to try one, so I was excited! I will say, I've read everywhere that Dutch babies are supposed to have more of a custardy center and even the photos I've seen look that way. Mine didn't really have that texture at all and tasted more like a crepe. Maybe it was a little overcooked? It wasn't bad, just not quite what I expected. Still delicious! Unfortunately, the tater tots were the biggest disappointment. They weren't crispy, didn't taste seasoned and sort of fell apart until they became one big potato mess. My cousins and I ended up not finishing them. One of my cousins ordered the summer peach and corn salad, which she liked! Just a heads-up that it's only available after 11 a.m. My other cousin got the skillet, she mentioned feeling a little disappointed since it tasted a little dry and didn't finish her plate. However they both ordered the Curious George drink and LOVED it! The Cinnagave Shaken Espresso was also fantastic. Coffee is definitely something they do very well here and I can see myself getting again. Overall, the aesthetics are adorable and I could see this being a great date spot. The coffee was fantastic, the sourdough was amazing, but the rest of the food was just okay for us. That was a little disappointing because everything sounds SO good on paper. Maybe we just caught them on an off day. The prices are probably the biggest thing holding me back from coming back regularly. Spending $30-$40+ per person for breakfast isn't really in my budget right now, but if this is within your price range, you may have a completely different experience. When I review a place, I try to take the overall experience, personal taste and effort into account. For now, I'm leaving Zuzu's Petals at 4 stars because the effort is definitely there, and what isn't my cup of tea may be someone else's liquid gold. I'd still give them another chance in the future... after I get paid!

The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

Navy Proof is the restaurant and bar inside the Westin Long Beach lobby. The open atrium with high…read moreceilings and large windows looks impressive, but in the early afternoon the sun made the space feel warm and greenhouse-like. The bartender was excellent. He went into the kitchen for fresh berries, muddled them with Tito's and soda, and made a genuinely refreshing summertime drink that helped with the heat...! I eventually ordered the Crispy Shrimp & Calamari to eat as my main (I was dining alone). I had recently had a very notable version of the same dish at a Canopy by Hilton in Washington DC, and unfortunately, this one did not measure up. The breading was average and the sweet chili aioli was poor. I asked for ranch instead, which was an improvement but still not great. The portion itself was fine. Service was solid and friendly! I'd rate the staff around a 4. Based on the food I had, the kitchen lands closer to a 2.5 to 3. Fine if you're already in the hotel and want something casual, but not an amazing choice for the fried seafood.
