At first it seems like a Mexican spot based on the decor but the menu has a bit of everything. Loved how breakfast is available all day. I ended up getting the grilled veggie wrap and was surprised when I bit into it that it was an Asian wrap. There is no mention of that on the menu description, in fact it says "pesto." The unique thing about this location is they have an added Oaxacan menu full of even more delicious options that do not disappoint! The service was super friendly and our waitress gave great recommendations, the ambiance is very casual and chill, but it can get a little stuffy inside when it's hot. Here are some of the highlights: 4/5 - Dargon Roll: "Tuna", cucumber, carrots, avocado, and a side of soy sauce. A great light and delicious appetizer. Pro tip: the "Tuna" like paste is a little salty, so don't overdo the soy sauce to avoid that extra salty flavor. 5/5 - Chilaqulies Verde: corn tortilla chips, onions, mushroom, zucchini and tofu egg, sautéed in a salsa verde, topped with homemade sour cream, cheese, and avocado. Very delicious, had a nice little kick of spice, but not too overpowering, I would highly recommend this dish! 5/5 - Coconut Blackberry Cake: a delicious blend of fresh coconut and blackberries, without too much of either flavor, perfectly balanced. 4.5/5 - Strawberry Almond Cake: very good, almost as good as the coconut blackberry cake, but a little dryer in taste. My career is a mobile phlebotomist and I'm always on the go. I found this spot very interesting. I read that we're having a smoothies and juices and my curiosity just took me in there and I got to try one of the most popular smoothies that girl tell me the berry berry what's one of the customers favorite. I was looking for something green honestly, but since I hear that I was like OK, let's give it a shot. My concern was a little bit about the sweetness. But then when they give it to me, I tried out and it was delicious. It hit the spot that really worked out or replacing me a meal for another hour. This was looking pretty busy. They were at least six tables busy so that means the food is good. I can't wait to come back to try their food and the pastries the cakes oh my gosh, they were looking delicious and some people were eating out as well. I was in a rush, so maybe next time with the more time I can check more of the menu out.. for right now now I have another spot to order my smoothie. I can't wait to try more of the menu. For parking situation of the parking, my goodness is a little hard, but not impossible. You must have to park a little far away, but you can find parking around. The juices and smoothies are especially great -- the Sun Butter smoothie is intriguing because it's completely white. It tastes a bit like protein powder, earthy but not in a bad way, and surprisingly satisfying. I've loved every dish I've ordered here, but Thanksgiving is my favorite time to come. I always get the pumpkin-spiced chai (no espresso), which is perfectly cozy. This year I tried the full Thanksgiving meal. The stuffing is a bit salty, but if you eat it with the mashed potatoes, it balances out well. The soy-based "turkey" is a little rubbery, and the cranberry sauce is pretty sweet, but again, combining everything makes each bite work. The veggies, though -- so clean and delicious. Quite cute, rusty place. Stopped by for a cup of mocha and a cake. Parking can be tough since it's street parking only. Service is nice and friendly. The cake was great and tasty and moist and coffee is good. The decor, for me, dark and rustic feeling and they have a waterfall wall so it's relaxing. The place is right on the corner of 4th Street & Ximeno Ave so you got the corner view of both streets. They do have indoor and outdoor seating for all seasons. They do have other plain base foods but we're here in the morning so couldn't able to try the foods yet but my friends said that it was great with reasonable price too. I had the build your own grain bowl with the veggie of the day, brown rice, black beans, chicken, and roasted garlic aioli. I didn't read the menu too closely and was pleasantly surprised to see it was a vegan chicken that they use. I've tried vegan chicken at other places and it wasn't as good as it was here. The server helped me by picking out the garlic aioli and I'm glad that I got that for my bowl. The inside is really nice and I would want to come back to dine in next time. read more

I'm not vegan but my adult son is so we do visit the Grain Cafe often however this was our first time at the Long Beach location. We often visit the Grain Cafe because this is the only restaurant my other non-vegan family will eat. Everyone always enjoys their meal no matter what they order. If you have a similar family or friend this is the place you want to take them to have a delicious vegan meal. I ordered the Mojotes which are masa dough filled with the perfect amount of potatoes and chorizo salsa, topped with black bean sauce, cabbage, avocado salsa and cheese bedded on romaine lettuce. It was very flavorful and so good that I dove in and forgot to take a picture of it. I would definitely order this again. The place also has homemade desserts which I bought my son a slice of pie to take home. The only negative comment I can make about this location is the tap water. went in for supper, was a relatively hot day so the evening breeze felt nice. our server was very friendly and gave us plenty of time to rake through the extensive menu. we ordered hummus and pita to start, which was beet hummus for when we went in. wish we got more pita, because we had a couple bites left of hummus. tasted good ! got the asada and tinga tacos, and wow, both of the proteins were very well seasoned and balanced! blown away by how flavorful the marinades were. for our mains, i got the club with sweet potatoes (i thought they would be fries though). the sandwich was good, i did wish that the middle of the sandwich wasn't a third slice of bread, it was very filling. the protein was very good. also got the cobb salad and it was so delicious! i loved the amount of toppings, the tempeh bacon was my favorite and the tofu egg alongside avocado were dressed well. finished meal with a tres leches cake -- was more on the decadent side for my taste but we packed it up for later. will add this to my list for lunch next time i'm in LB! read more

We were greeted by a friendly host and proceeded to order. We tried the Mole Burrito, which consisted of Daiya cheese, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, cabbage, chard, bell peppers, and "chicken," all wrapped in a spinach tortilla, topped with their homemade mole sauce. It was served with your choice of black or pinto beans and Spanish rice. The burrito itself was decent, though it didn't have much "chicken." The mole was very flavorful, as were the vegetables. As for the sides, I'd recommend going with all beans, the rice, in my opinion, tasted like a premade Spanish rice packet. We also tried the nachos with "chicken." Unlike the burrito, the nachos had plenty of "chicken" and were very good! The squeeze bottle of hot sauce was also a hit not only really tasty but legit! When you walk in there is plenty of seating, but the cake case will really catch your eye! There was music on, which was at the perfect level. Yesterday we were at some other restaurant for lunch and had to ask multiple times for the music to be turned down. Even using our 'outside voices' we couldn't hear one another. You won't have that problem here. We ordered the Garden Wrap with the side salad and the Grilled Veggie Wrap with the house potatoes. The Garden Wrap was delicious. You would be surprised at how rare it is to find a wrap ( or sandwich) like this is any restaurant, vegan or not. This had red pepper hummus and the veggies were fresh, bright, & flavorful. The Grilled Wrap was also a hit! I contemplated getting the Posole Soup as well. I was able to have a little sample. With so many Vegan places to choose from nowadays I'm not so sure about returning. A nice menu with great variety and the cute design on our coffee were the best parts. Unfortunately, the beverages were thin and flavor balance off. Both of us felt the same with different drinks. My food was not nearly as flavorful as I expected based on description, the omlette was too dry. My husband's food was just ok. Service was slow, I mean really slow for 10am. Oh my goodness! My sister brought me to lunch here last week for the Two Cheese Crepe, and I'm back a week later for another one! The funny thing is I react poorly to sugar and generally avoid the crepe/pancake family altogether, but this dish balances the sweet & savory so perfectly--I literally ate the whole thing & felt fantastic afterwards.
