Hong Kong Food is set in the front right hand corner on of Jusgo market. It's not a standalone restaurant but rather a counter to order with a few tables. My favorites were the shumai dumplings which had a notable mushroom flavor and the rice rolls which had a silky texture. Honorable mention to the spicy Singapore noodles, crispy BBQ pork and curry beef pockets, and BBQ pork buns. I didn't think the beef balls were anything special and the egg custard had too much pastry and not enough custard which made them taste dry. Overall, it was decent but not as good as real restaurants like Wu Wei Din or Kirin Court. 3.5-stars There's milk tea and bottle water for purchase but no free water option so bring your own. read more

I love this place. It's in a Jusgo supermarket and it's far from me but it's totally worth the drive. I always get the cheung fun rice rolls with beef and bbq pork and they are my favorite thing ever. I'm obsessed with the texture of the rice noodle and I love the flavor of the meat. I was really looking forward to eating at Hong Kong Food in Plano. People have been glazing it on google and the Dallas Asian food facebook group. It's a real hidden gem, nestled inside of the jusgo market. I took my grandparents and brother there and ordered the beef that noodle, shrimp rice rolls, steamed pork and shrimp dumpling, and congee with pork and preserved egg. They only have like 3 tables and many people are coming and going for takeout. The beef flat noodle had a good wok and char flavor but unfortunately the dish was pretty bland. Otherwise, it was cooked well. The shrimp rice rolls were also meh. There was not a lot of soy sauce at all and the rice rolls were very thick, making it hard to coat them with sauce. The pork dumpling was decent, it's very dense with meat but nothing special. The congee was pretty watery and they skimped so much on the meat and preserved egg. We moved to Dallas a few years ago from the 626 so we have pretty high standards when it comes to HK style eats - they knocked it out of the ballpark! Kennedy was so graceful & pleasant to chat with. CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT The restaurant is located inside the Asian supermarket of "JusGo" all the in the back by the frozen items. This is your no frills kind of joint. There are 3 tables outside the counter where you place your orders. Most of the tables can fit a max of 4, with the exception of the third table fitting about 6 comfortably. Located inside of the supermarket, this place des remind me of Hong Kong. It's a kitchen that still makes their dim sum, they don't just steam and reheat the frozen stuff like most places nowadays. The proof? Well, they were rolling the rice noodle rolls up themselves as I watched. However, the food was just okay, as I ordered the basics (rice noodle roll, haw gao, sui mai, BBQ pork bun). I felt that the owner was very kind and works his tail off, as I know what it's like to own a food service business, so it's hard for me to give him a 3/5 rating. Not much ambiance as it is a kitchen with a table just outside the register with 6 chairs in the front corner of the supermarket, but I hope that this place does well despite the high prices. Came back for some cheung fun $4.5 around 11:30 am on Friday. Decided to have beef congee $4.5 and pork soup dumplings $6.5. The Mandarin speaking lady said there's soup in the xiao long bao aka soup dumplings. We told Chef Tam and the cashier no cilantro due to my allergy. It was 10 minutes after placing our orders and then Chef Tam said the beef in congee are pre-marinated with cilantro. Think they should have told me when placing the order not this much later. I could have changed to fish or something else. My husband ended up having the congee. Cheung fun was freshly made and I give it a 3 stars. Consistency is ok but needed more filling. Felt like I was eating plain ones. 1 star for pork soup dumplings. As soon as Chef Tam placed the steamed basket on the table, I saw soup marks on the wax paper. I figure there might be one or two bursted. I was wrong. There was absolutely no juice/soup in all 8 of them. I asked if these were home-made or store-bought, he said home-made. He also admitted that he overcooked them causing them to bust. Then I wonder why he would still serve them knowing he overcooked them. Maybe he doesn't care about the quality or reputation? He's there by himself cooking each order and the wait can be long if there are too many orders. The Mandarin speaking lady only seems to help on check-outs and preparation. The best Cheung fun I have ever had in the US! The beef cheung fun is $6 per order. The skin is soft but it won't break easily when you hold it with chopsticks. The return of the king. This chef retired some time ago, he used to be in the Legacy food court and then at another location before that but I guess retirement wasn't interesting enough so he's back. Much to our benefit as customers. He makes authentic Hong Kong food (hence the name lol) most well known for his bolo bao (pineapple bun). The rice noodles crepe are solid too. But really the menu is pretty extensive so you can find what you like whether dim sum, zhong zi, or buns. The little shop is located inside JusGo by the seafood and only has a few tables so it's almost like that street food in Asia feel, especially with all the disposable plates and utensils. All that to say don't expect an amazing customer experience lol, although the owner himself does deliver the food to your table. If you're doing some grocery shopping I'd stop by for a bolo bao or a small snack, who knows he might disappear into retirement again. Located inside Jusgo. The owners only speak Mandarin and a bit of English. No Cantonese. I ordered 2 cake/crispy crust egg tart, 1 flaky egg tart, 1 order sheng jian bao, and 2 "birthday buns." The total was $11.20 but it doesn't seem to add up? They don't give back coin change. Sheng jian bao and the birthday buns we were told take 15 minutes to make. It was ready faster than that but the birthday buns were frozen solid and the sheng jian bao was not crispy on the bottom. It has really good flavour otherwise. I asked if the birthday buns were lotus seed paste buns in Cantonese and English but they answered back only in Mandarin - I said prior, in Mandarin, that I don't speak Mandarin. The birthday buns are actually filled with red bean paste which was still good. Unfortunately they did not give us 3 egg tarts. They gave us 2 flaky and a bbq pork puff pastry. They repeated correctly when we ordered and started grabbing the egg tarts. Not sure if they mixed up orders or something. The tart is well filled. It does smell weird but tastes good. CASH ONLY! Located to the right inside Jusgo supermarket. Items I've tried: - Shrimp rice paste (noodle crepe), my fav. It did not disappoint! The soy sauce was just the right amount of saltiness and the rice paste itself seemed fresh and perfectly steamed. - Steamed beef balls were not bad taste-wise, but it hardened a bit on the outside and appeared dry. I visited in the afternoon so it was probably getting overheated. - Shumai was, unfortunately, in the same condition as the beef balls. - Wife cake is amazing! Nice and soft on the outside and generous amount of "stuffing"on the inside. - Zhong tasted really similar to my grandma's which is quite a feat! And at such an affordable price; $2.60 for no yolk, $3.00 with yolk. Get the yolk and make sure to steam/boil it (with leaves on) for 5-10 min before eating if you're taking it to go. He adds Chinese sausage in his zhong which I thought was interesting but it's not overpowering at all. - Pork and preserved egg congee had a decent ratio between rice and pork and eggs. It was on the watery side and was a little bland but this is good though so you can adjust to your taste with salt and white pepper. He adds green onions in the bowl for you, so if you don't want that, make sure to tell him. - Egg custard tarts come in HK style and Taiwanese style. Both are good but I prefer HK style for the flaky crust. Taiwanese style has a firmer crust with a good crunch. FYI: The pineapple (polo) bun is not available for sale unless you ordered a day in advance. He also only takes orders of 6 or more. The chef speaks Mandarin and Cantonese. He was such a nice old man. And my food comes out pretty quick. There are 3-4 tables for dine-in. Very interesting place to eat. It sits in the isolated corner of the Jusgo market. Its run by just 2 elderly people. Their dim sum menu is not as big as a full scale restaurant, but they definitely got the technique down for what they do have. I personally think they have some of the best pastry and starch of all dim sum places in dfw. The beef curry puff pastry was amazing - I've never seen that before, the flavor was on point and the pastry was nice and flaky. All their starches were very good, the rice noodles were super soft and their skin on the ha gao / shumai were noticeably better than other restaurants.
