There's a great balance to this place. Delicious food. Friendly, knowledgable, welcoming helpful service. Lovely space inside and out. What I love about this place is how balanced the experience feels - meaning it's really good food, service and cocktails but I didn't feel like I was paying a premium. It's a NICE place and a NEIGHBORHOOD place. I've visited twice, for DINNER. Once on a warm summer night and a cool early-fall night. We sat outside both times. The space inside and out is pretty, modern and unpretentious. Good shade outside. It's a thougtfully designed space. I even like their font choice. Start with the cocktails, beer and wine. Fantastic. They imprint their logo onto the ice cubes! Oo-la-la! You can even get half a beer. They made my kid a unique and delicious Shirley Temple. Gotta love a place that takes even the kid mocktails seriously. They've got a kids menu too! We've ordered small plates, appetizers and entrees. Every item I've had is a winner: Steak, schnitzel, salad, deviled eggs, artichoke dip, and a deeply rich chocolate tahini ice cream (that my kid didn't want so I ate all of). The staff on both visits attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Again, that balance. Servers who know their stuff, and are warm and welcoming. We are part of the neighborhood and have enjoyed an occasional outing to Highly Likely. The bodega sando (GF bread) is one of my favs. The salads look amazing and of heaping portions so looking forward to trying one soon. The hot black coffee is good. Cold brew is ok, but to be fair IMO cold brew is inferior to hot coffee. The service for brunch was efficient and friendly. The order at the counter experience is also chill, for the vibe I was surprised to see so many laptops out and less groups chatting it up. The decor and ambiance is magical so I get why people love it as a workspace. Overall if you are looking for a treat or make some kind of salary you will enjoy this spot. read more

Service was really fast and waiters are always smiling and attentive. Anything we needed, they were right there. My boyfriend and I are huge foodies and love to explore and try new places and foods. My friend and I have been trying to check out our local coffee spots, and this time we opted for Highly Likely since it's one of the newer businesses on Fig. We saw that the place was pretty full(usually a good sign right?). The guy at the front taking the food orders seemed like that was the last place he wanted to be at, lacking even a simple smile. It felt very awkward as we were ordering and after he gave us our order # he mumbled something so we weren't sure if we needed to wait at the end of the bar for our coffee or if it was going to be taken to our table. We ended up just sitting down basically at the only 2 top table that was available, conveniently next to an active roof leak and puddle. We were just glad to find somewhere to sit since a lot of the bigger tables were taken up by people working on their laptops. Our food came out promptly but our coffee surprisingly took a little longer. My breakfast sandwich had a good flavor but since it's on a focaccia bread, it was a little messy to eat. The chilaquiles were more of an upgraded chips and guac with salsa topped with egg, they were definitely lacking flavor. I probably won't go back, but I hope they can work on their customer service skills so that us LOCALS can also enjoy and feel welcome. read more

Went in today after looking for a place to get a drink and found Highly Likely as I was walking down Figueroa. At first I thought it was a dispensary but then realized they were a small food shop. I saw the menu and looked really enticing but I had eaten breakfast already. I went and ordered a Matcha Latte. Wait was about 5-10 mins for my drink. Staff were friendly, the place looked clean and presentable. I got my drink and headed out and I got to say it was the worst matcha latte I've ever had. For being 6.50 plus tax it was the most underwhelming drink ever. Maybe it was made wrong but it was terrible. it had hardly any Matcha there wasn't any sweetener and it was basically a cup of milk with a whole bunch of ice with an hint of matcha. Now I know how expensive matcha is but at least give me $6.50 worth. because of the experience I've had today it's highly unlikely I will return to this establishment. read more

Came here for one of our early Saturday morning coffee runs and was pleasantly surprised by the layout of this place. Very cool indoor and outdoor bar area with plenty of seating, and a really cool laid back atmosphere. We took a look at the menu and ordered the cold brew along with the golden milk. The cold brew was great, just the right amount of bitterness and no jitters. The golden milk was one of the best she's had, the non dairy substitutes were a huge plus. The busy but nice calm layout was very nice, we usually get our morning drinks to go but this place drew us in more to make us stay and enjoy. The outdoor seating ambiance is immaculate. The dinner menu (same as the day menu) is simple but has all the heavy hitters. I got the steak and fried artichokes. Deliciously small portions that were... maybe not quite worth the price. Still a great place for a weeknight dinner or a reliable spot to bring your out of town friends. We had New Years Eve dinner at Highly Likely. Everything was superb, from the cocktails through the dessert. We ate outdoors on a cold night; we were bundled up and there was a big propane heater at our table so we were comfortable. The menu had inventive twists that delighted all four of us. Shrimp toasts were a fresh take on the Chinese classic, with a pineapple sweet and sour sauce that everyone loved. Arugula and artichoke dip was rich and luscious. Steak poivre was decadent and delicious. The French fries with it were excellent. Curried cauliflower was delish, a spicy mixture of creamy and crunchy. Chicken schnitzel was reportedly terrific. I didn't try it. Dessert was apple ice cream that tasted like a lovely apple cider. The service was attentive but not intrusive. This is my new favorite cafe in Highland Park. The patio space is so so nice, and the fixtures/decor look well done! The coffee is up to standard, and staff are friendly. Given the general enthusiasm about the recent opening of this location, and the line of about 10-15 people on a Saturday for lunch, my expectations were pretty high. Ordered the KISS Salad with grilled chicken. Super fresh ingredients, and the dressing was perfectly mixed. The grilled chicken, however, was on the dry side. I cut it up in little pieces and tossed it at my table to moisten it up a bit. The grilled halloumi and the bread, in general, were the standouts here. All in, good staple lunch spot. You can't buy a smile here. Everyone that works here looks miserable. When we got to the counter the girl looked like we were such an inconvenience. Not personality. Just real stale and to the point. This was my first time there and I did not know it was order, seat yourself, get water yourself, etc. which is fine but the 18% minimum tip option is laughable for this. And for the price they're charging, please, bring me my water. The only character this place has was the bigger white guy that dropped off our food. Full of energy and charismatic. I only saw him once. The other people bussing and dropping off food were frantic and in a rush. I didn't even know who to ask for a to go container. They should have just set it up next to the water so you can just do it yourself. Just like everything else. As we left all the workers were just talking behind the bar and having a great time. No one acknowledged us leaving or said thanks or goodbye or hope to see you again! If you're a NELA transplant and just want an instagramable atmosphere with low quality service this is your place. For someone like myself that has grown up in hospitality and heavy in customer service, I would never come back to this place. If they're just relying on the atmosphere they're gonna be in trouble in the near future. I will gladly go somewhere else for a $17 burrito. LA is chock full of places to eat. As someone who works in food for the most part it was surprising that no one was there and we still didn't get the best of service. Made a reservation for 7:30 didn't get a table until 8:40 during that span the hostess was super cold and almost made it seem that it was our fault...By the time we got a table our server seemed like she wanted nothing to do with us because she was about to end her shift. By the time our second server came around service was super slow and almost non-existent. Giving this place 1 star cause the food was ok, but it's highly likely this spot won't last if management does not get on top of these service issues. read more

Great experience! Parking is anywhere you can find it. (FYI - Meters directly on Figueroa Blvd outside restaurant are max 1 hour). You walk in, place order at register, take your number to your table (you find whatever you can) and they bring you your drinks and food. Was about 10-15 mins before we got our food and they were busy so that was pretty quick. Menu choices are great. Lots of good looking options. Had a matcha lemonade and a fatousshi salad. Both excellent. Salad is large - I didn't finish. Had outside seating as well. They have coffee drinks AND a full bar. Would go back! It only fell slightly short of 5 stars because of the self-seating situation. It was tough to find a seat and too hot to sit outside but after waiting a bit and watching tables like a hawk, I got a table so it worked out. read more

in a city where coffee shops are a dime a dozen it's difficult to find something that truly speaks to you. Highland Park definitely has plenty to choose from and I've tried most if not all of them. Highly Likely most definitely left a great impression. The decor is welcoming, trendy without being pretentious, uses good quality finishes and materials, and is just overall aesthetically pleasing and inviting. A great place for a date whether solo, friend, or a significant other. We tried the matcha which was good but the Smoking Jacket outshone it by far. It was so good we ordered another to go. The mushroom burrito was delicious and very sharable if you're not too hungry. The only thing I would change is an adjustment to the chairs in the back "yard" because they were pretty uncomfortable after a while. Service was friendly and fast, there was a line forming quickly but the food and drinks were served fast while not sacrificing quality. I absolutely LOVE the other location, so I was so excited to see that they'd opened one in Highland Park, since I now live on the Eastside. Sadly, this new location has a very different vibe and quality of food: 1. We sat inside, but there were speakers playing EDM SO LOUD that we couldn't hear the person across the table speak. It started giving me a huge headache, so I asked the barista if there was any way the music could be lowered just a little in that area. She said she'd check, then someone came over (guessing a manager or owner). He said that an audiologist was measuring the music for levels that week, so he doesn't want to change it, which he, ironically, had to kind of shout for us to hear him. He said it would be best for us to take a table outside, but the only table available was one where the sun was right in our eyes. We told him this and he was just kind of like, "ok sorry". 2. I always get the same thing: egg & toast. Today, the toast was fully black and burnt around the edges and not edible (pictured). We wound up needing to get the food togo since the music was crazy loud and it was just really miserable. My fiancé asked someone about the toast and if it could be fixed. He replied that he'd have to check with someone to see if it could be fixed, so we wound up just leaving. Overall: Horrible experience, which was so disappointing! Not lowering music volume because it's being measured to see if the levels are too high, while the person telling you this is having to shout that information in order for you to hear him... seems kind of insane? The toast issue just made it worse. That should have never been sent out in the first place when I'm paying $13 for a slice of toast and some scrambled eggs. read more

I looked at the pictures and was interested but also a little nervous as nothing was really jumping out. Happy to say, my opinion was quickly changed! We shared an appy and then each had our own dish. She got the soup and I got the 1/2 chicken. Her soup was sooooo good but I would have only been able to eat a little of it as it was very acidic. My 1/2 chicken was so good and very flavorful! We had a couple of drinks and I ended with an espresso. For all of the food and drinks I believe our bill was around $100 maybe $110, which I didn't think was bad at all. The service and atmosphere were really good and will definitely go back. We've given this place multiple chances since we live nearby, but each visit has been worse than the last. Our final attempt was on a Sunday evening. I had received a gift cert from a coworker for my birthday the year before that I had put off using because this place is so mid. The door was open, but no hostess was present. We walked through the restaurant to the outdoor bar, yet not a single staff member acknowledged us. Assuming the bar was closed (even though there were cocktail menus out and a few empty drinks there), we moved to the inside one, where two bartenders were making drinks. Only one customer was sitting at the bar, yet we were completely ignored. After waiting with zero service or a greeting for another 5 minutes, we got up and left.
