Service was excellent from the moment we stepped in. Small space and there were 5 of us but they more than accommodated. Locals were also very welcoming. To make it even better their menu had an amazing variety of food I didnt expect. I ordered the wutang which was a vegan bowl. They used unagi sauce which made big impact. Nonetheless we came back for breakfast the next day since their breakfast menu looked amazing too...and tasted just as good as their dinner. Service similarly was top level. Fabulous food, great local atmosphere, and even an excellent local breakfast beer list if that's your thing! The chocolate chickpea waffle was unique and wonderful and the Huevos Rancheros with roast pork was the best I've ever had. Great list of interesting hot sauces also as well as a friendly staff. Food was really not that good in my opinion. Grilled cheese lacked flavor and fries were below average. Service was fine. There was a table behind us with a group of very LOUD people which made for an unenjoyable time. Not blaming the restaurant at all for that. However they all did seem to know each other. We were in Girdwood on vacation for a week and we went to Hightower twice! The 1st night we ordered the Pub Tots, Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, and the Cottage Pie. The 2nd time we ordered the Halibut Tacos and the Cottage Pie again. Our food on both occasions was delicious. The staff and service was fast and friendly. My only complaint is that I don't know when we'll be able to go back to try some of their other dishes! Ok ok.. that's not really a complaint it's more of a complement. read more

After a day at Aleyska we were looking for a late breakfast, being in a tourist town I was prepared to be overcharged and mildly disappointed. This place is a must stop if you are in Girdwood. As soon as we picked up our food we dived in while sitting in the truck...the batter on the CFS was perfectly crunchy but not over breaded And the meat fell apart. The hightower pub is a local eatery in the heart of Girdwood Alaska. It is located right behind the mercantile, and is very friendly. After our experience in the Alyeska resort restaurant, My husband and I decided to find a local place to eat. This was a hidden gem with with great food and wonderful personality. The fish and chips here are the best in Alaska, better than any downtown anchorage resturant , home made and hand battered , don't forget one of their many beers. We stopped by after a random late drive to Girdwood and noticed the "Open" sign & asked if they were serving dinner. It was a few minutes before closing and we were welcomed in and invited to eat inside. After weeks of quarantine what a nice treat. Relaxed , kind service with prompt turnaround. We were not rushed and food was great. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. We asked for coffee and was totally surprised to be offered an espresso drink! That was a pleasant little surprise. Our food came out in a timely manner and everything was excellent! I had the halibut and chips and my husband had a classic cheeseburger. Sooo good!!! Located next door to the Mercantile. The best Reuben I've ever had! Truly, everything about it was excellent. Grilled to perfection.
