Took a chance for lunch here and was not disappointed. I wasn't familiar with the menu so when I decided to split the club sandwich with my husband I had no idea how large their sandwiches actually are! The club was made on a huge homemade pretzel that had been split in two. All the other ingredients were fresh and delicious. We also tried the appetizer soft pretzel which was brushed with garlic butter, dusted in Parmesan, and served with a large side of dipping cheese (like nacho cheese). They apparently also have beer cheese and jalapeño cheese if you ask. The pretzels are amazing. I will be back just for those. The server Theresa mentioned dinner is also good here, the owner is from Florida and has a background in authentic BBQ, which is a large part of their dinner menu. Ambiance is kind of humdrum and dated, but average enough. I also like to go next door to Yogurt Lounge for a froyo afterwards. Will be back with my family. read more

Have heard and seen mixed reviews but our experience was pretty great! Wandered in here for dinner after a quick gym session. We appreciated being sat in a big booth even though it was just two of us. Our server was very friendly and named off the specials -- we ended up getting the fall cocktail special (Jack Daniels apple whiskey, apple cider, cinnamon stick topped with caramel syrup). For food my fiancé got a chicken wrap with side Caesar salad which was huge (both items). I don't usually order sandwiches but for some reason the half club with a cup of chowder was calling out to me. It was delicious and a good amount of food. This is a tragic story. We had a reservation at 6pm on a Friday. We were seated, 8 of us, and while it became apparent that our server was not that big of a multi tasker, she finally got our drinks and orders taken. 15 minutes later she came back and said that her pen (?) had not worked and she reviewed our orders. 30 minutes later salads and a soup, it should have been a salad, came out. Still no food. At 6:57 went the bar and asked to speak with the manager. Whoever it was is in the kitchen and it would take a minute. Finally a server came up to me and asked about my problem. I explained that we were 1 hour in and no food. She asked to look into it so I waited. She came back and said that their system had gone down and our order had not been placed until we had been there at 6:25 , which explained why our fellow diners that arrived after us were eating. At no time from now till we left did our server ever explaine what happened and apologize to us. We did receive a 50% off on our bill. Tragic ! #2 star for discount. read more

A soft three. Really a 2.5. I had read reviews, old and new, and threw caution to the wind. How bad could it be? Go with your gut. The inside is nice, I loved the large booths and how private they were, but the seats were dirty and had crumbs leftover along small paper debris from straws and napkins on them as well. Service was good, but not prompt at all for what seemed like a slow Friday night. Longish wait times for food and slooow refills on drinks. As far as food goes, I got the baked mozzarella app: I wasn't expecting to get a deconstructed mozzarella stick, which is a terrible idea, by the way, and the only reason I can think of why they serve this food item is to try have an "interactive" (speculation) menu item. But fighting with hot cheese that is quickly cooling and adhering to a skillet is not fun. The quality of the flatbread was fine. They also used way too much oil. Entree wise, I got the Oven Baked Halibut Olympia. Also served in a skillet, it kind of looked like breaded mac and cheese. The amount of fish is ample, and good, but my issue with this dish is the amount of oil they cooked it with. It was so greasy and nauseating to see how much sat on top of the actual food once you broke into the crust of the dish and stirred it up. Partner got the firecracker pizza which they enjoyed: chicken, onions and green peppers with blue cheese baked on top with their special "firecracker" sauce (a little spicy). All in all, I'm glad I went! The location was convenient and easy to get to, and my curiosity after so long has been thoroughly satiated. I would not go back. read more

Fire tap consistently produces great cocktails and a menu that has something for everyone. Their space is open and bright, with a mix of tables and booths. Fire tap happens to be conveniently located if you're leaving physical therapy next door and/or I have a girlfriend who goes on dates here since it's close to the gym where her kids do sports. Other than that, we do not seek out fire tap. Sitting at the bar most recently, things started off amazing, but ended not the best, because our bartender was guilt tripping us into closing our tab all because he was leaving for the night around 5ish. Not our problem, and I think it's tacky to put that on your customers. Stay till we're done or transfer our tab to the next bartender...annoying. read more

Middle of the road here. Not great, not terrible. Very casual atmosphere and seemed clean, both a plus. Service and food was so-so. Started with appetizers, cheese sticks and wings, both really good but entrees were not so good. Halibut is on the menu but the blackened halibut wrap is not a win. I'm not sure if it was the cheese or perhaps the method used to blacken, but the wrap had my entire plate swimming in melted fat from cheese or butter...not so appealing when you're on a road trip and the local bears are looking to fatten up for the winter... read more

My days of craving Firetap have come to an end. They changed their menu, and it is not for the better. They changed their Mac and cheese recipie. Now it is a watery Alfredo tasting sauce. Not the creamy gooey cheddar sauce they had. The chips now come on top regularly which is good but they added bacon so they can charge $15 for 1 small size, they had small and large before. Also they put it in a frighteningly hot skillet. Husabnd got the "chicken drumlettes" no longer chicken wings. They also came in a skillet which was way hotter than my skillet. They were keeping the wings burning hot he had to prop them up in the skillet and scrape the meat off so he wouldn't have to hold the bone. Pretty sure they were the Costco ones that they heated up in the oven. That's why it took our food awhile to come out. They changed the menu but kept the waitress who is slow and walks around without eagerness who've we've had several times over the years. She's the definition of the hit or miss service that Firetap is known for. She kept walking by our table while we were just sitting there looking at each other with our coats on ready to go when we were trying to pay. 2 stars for their drinks. read more

Wish they put the au jus Bowl on a different plate because my bread was really soggy from it spilling. Fell apart. My on got the same with fries. The fries are disgusting. Tried the chicken Florentine and the pizza was topped with large chunks of chicken but it was just baked with salt and pepper and didn't have much flavor. The crust was great but wish the pizza had been cooked a tad longer to get that bubbly browned cheese. The beggars purse was.... interesting... the filo tasted maybe old or a bit freezerburnt but the chocolate cake, ricotta, and ganache inside were addicting. Got the hummus appetizer which was great - fresh flatbread and olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta to go along with it. The mini was plenty for 2 to share. It was slow to arrive but our waitress kept us informed, and since the flatbread came fresh out of the oven piping hot it was worth the wait. My husband got the reuben sandwich on the pretzel bread. The pretzel bread was very fresh and delicious. Somehow they've solved the soggy bread situation that plagues reubens. I had the chicken salad on the same delicious pretzel bun. We always were big fans of Firetap when they were in Tikahtnu. That location has been closed for years and we decided to come and try this location out hoping to reminisce of the restaurant we once enjoyed. Unfortunately, this missed the mark significantly. It didn't even feel like the same establishment. The restaurant is a decent size and was very empty. We ordered the classic chips and it had what I'm positive was store bought bland guacamole and jarred salsa. Ordered pizza and the make your own pizza I ordered was inedible. Granted I picked my toppings but avoid the fresh garlic. I love garlic but they put so much of this chopped garlic, I almost choked on the amount mounted on my pizza. My drink was okay. We ended up asking for sauce so we could dip the pizza in it. She asked for balsamic and I asked for ranch. Honestly, that still didn't make it worth grabbing another slice for me. Price was it I think for the bigger pizza was $27 I think and I just didn't think it was worth it. Alright. I'm a bit sad to give a bad review but after so many issues with this one order I felt I needed too. This is a to go order. Okay let's go through my order. Baked Mac and Cheese with chip topping: we had high hopes....they have since been crushed. The only part of this dish that was edible was the topping which was literally chips and cheese. The main part underneath was a dry mixture of some overcooked noodles and then crispy noodles obviously made that way from a very long broil. The cheese sauce was almost nonexistent. No flavor and really just so unsatisfactory. A few bites and that's all we could manage. Pretzel Euro Reuben Sandwich: I love Reuben's! My most fave Sammy ever!! This one...was sad lol. The meat was wayyyyy over cooked and hard and there was 3 pieces of meat in the entire half sandwich and a pile of sauerkraut on top. The pretzel bun was fine on top but the bottom was undercooked and soggy feeling. I ended up eating only the top bun and didn't bother with the hard meat or the sauerkraut. It honestly had a taste I couldn't pinpoint and didn't recognize it. Maybe it was the overdone meat idk. The top bun tasted fluffy and good. Potato Skins: usually a no brainer...u would think...except that they were undercooked by a lot. Those hit the garbage fast. The cheese was barely melted. FRIES: when I say that most of my fries and my sons fries were burnt...I mean it. I can usually handle a few burned fries and never mind eating them. But I literally had a handful of fries with my sandwich and over half were so crispy it was just off putting. My son didn't touch but one or two of his. They were just way over done. Pepperoni Pizza: the cheese was not fully melted, the pepperoni had a funny taste and the sauce was just not very great....I will say that the crust was great. Crispy on the bottom and tasted fine. Not bad. I ordered to go through the online portal on their website which I do like and felt was convenient and it was ready super fast. But I will say that quality should matter before time. I would've waited longer for a better prepared meal for the $66 I spent. My kids and I get takeout once a week and after today we won't be ordering from here again. read more

Haven't left many reviews lately but I thought I'd leave a very positive review for this pub. The bartender was awesome. Hostess and manager worked very hard to seat a party of 12 with 3 kids. The service was awesome. Food came out a little slow but it was hot and tasty. All in all I thought they did a great job. Big shout out to the staff! I am a seasonal resident of Alaska. This place is close to where I live. I love the vibe. It is well laid out and nicely decorated. I have been here 5 or 6 times in the past several months. Always disappointed!!! Sitting here now. It took 5 min to get a beer. I have a menu in front of me and have been ignored by the lady behind the bar for the last 10 minutes. This has happened before. Good can be good (not great) but often it is lukewarm. I really wanted to like this place but do not. I have another month here and will not be back, this summer or next. If you haven't guessed, I work in the tourism business and contact thousands of visitors a summer. Always looking for someplace to recommend. This is not on my list. The prices keep rising and quality keeps falling. The Caesar salad was drenched. The turkey pesto sandwich was all pretzel bun and 3 pieces of turkey, 1 slice of bacon or a couple red peppers on one half. That plus a beer was almost $40. Service was quick and friendly. As a whole, this restaurant was fairly nice. It was pretty quick service at lunch time and the food came out quickly. Unfortunately, I had higher hopes for the blackened halibut wrap compared to what it actually was. It had a little too much other food in it (peppers and cheese) so the halibut was drowned. I will say, though, that their clam chowder was pretty tasty. All said and done, for what it is, the restaurant isn't bad! Nothing too nice, but not a dump. Always get good service from the sweet server with the creative makeup- twice she's been my server and she's great. First time I had the buffalo chicken salad and it was incredible. 2nd time I had the Cesar and it was okay. I also got the beggars purse I believe it was called and it was absolutely terrible!! One of the worst deserts I've ever had. I ended up bringing it home and throwing it away. My lunch date tried to order a burger and was told they were out of burgers...? In the middle of the afternoon? The BLT he got instead was all pretzel bun and barely any stuff in it- he didn't complain but I thought it was skimpy & out of proportion.
