    Chips & Salsas

We enjoyed it. Over the past 10 years, we've always eaten at the Kerrville location. Since we're staying in Fredericksburg, we decided to try the local location. While this location is much smaller, the service and food was just as good. We started with Top Shelf Margaritas. They were decent though I'm not sure there was much Grand Marnier in it. She ordered a combination plate with a beef enchilada, a crispy beef taco, a beef tamale, beans and rice. I ordered the beef enchilada meal with beans and rice. We had the chili sauce on our meals. Of course, the green salsa for the chips was amazing. I'd say this was the only subtle food difference I noticed between this Fredericksburg location and the Kerrville location. Kerrville seemed to be a bit smoother. And while I prefer that, they are both real good. We'll be back next February!

A casual restaurant with a lot of seating. We were able to get a table right away. Waiter was very personable. Chips and salsa were put on the table right away. Two salsas, one red and one green. I really liked the creamy green. Different than I have ever had elsewhere.Guacamole was just like we like it, no tomatoes with a nice creamy texture. We ordered a plate of combination nachos. Nice full plate. Beef nachos had yellow shredded cheese and chicken nachos had white shredded cheese.

I had been here before on a previous trip to Fredericksburg, so I knew it would be a good place to seat a party of 6. My birthday dinner. The place was a zoo. The server was overwhelmed & actually forgot to bring our drinks. We had been at wineries all day, so that wasn't a tragedy. If I had not been in such a good mood from a phenomenal birthday weekend, this may have pissed me off. As I mentioned, service was pretty bad on this particular day. He was super apologetic & ended up giving my friends their bills and telling me " you don't get one bc I ruined your birthday". Very sweet, but not necessary. He did NOT ruin my birthday. It was still a good meal & great birthday even though we didn't get everything we ordered. My cheese enchiladas were delicious & the guacamole was a nice surprise - very tasty.

This is such a good Mexican restaurant in Fredericksburg! It is located very close to, but not on the downtown strip. My friends and I were all blown away by the food, and we each ordered different dishes. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the host was very kind as well. I dubbed the green salsa radioactive because it was such an unnatural colour. However, the chips and salsa tasted great. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, and they were so good. The chicken was flavourful, and the sauce was creamy. I love how they gave so much guac too. There is parking in front of the restaurant, and prices are reasonable for Fredericksburg. I was so glad we chose to ate here instead of one of the tiny and overpriced (without restrooms too!) Mexican restaurants in downtown. The stained glass windows were so pretty.

Great Mexican food and great service. Love eating here when coming to Fredricksburg. There is parking in the back when the front is full. The salsa is ok but the green sauce is excellent. The chips have a great texture and are light and crispy. The tortillas are homemade and come with every meal. You don't have to ask for them, they are hot and fresh. The softest tortillas you have ever had. The service is just as good. I got the chile relleno with queso, charro beans and rice. The chili was stuffed with ground beef. When made right this is an excellent dish, and this was made right. My wife got her go to, she does not venture out, beef fajitas for one. The fajitas were tender and flavorful, no cheap meat here. What sets this place apart, I am sure, is when you enter the establishment you will be greeted by the owner who oversees everything and he takes pride in his restaurant. This truly is a great experience, the food is plentiful and great all the way around. Their prices are good for the amount of food you get. The service bar is set high. The Mexican food restaurant bar is set high!

Service-Hostess is not so hospitable. She shows no emotion whatsoever. Watched her the entire time while we were in the restaurant and it was like a soulless entity. Not sure if she hated her job or what, but not how I'd want to be greeted. Waiter was nice, w a sprinkle of humor. The atmosphere was relaxing, the seating was a bit uncomfortable. We received our food and it was a fairly large portion and pretty good. I could only eat 2 quesadillas after loading up on chips and queso. I would return again.

One of my favorite places to dine in Fredericksburg. I always get the Pasion del Mar, and follow it up with flan. Neither ever disappoint. Service is always good, and atmosphere is warm and inviting.

However, they will charge you for a cup of water and there is a $.40 service fee which I cannot explain. At least there was no credit card fee, but the tip screen was waiting. To be honest, their bacon and egg basic taco is pretty average, nothing special, but their red spicy sauce definitely took it up a notch. Their potato sausage and egg taco barely had any discernible sausage to it. It's the communal salsa bar that really makes the tacos extra special. They do have a fountain drink station, bottled soda on ice and a pot of coffee by the order window. You can get quite a variety of mixed drinks like margaritas along with numerous beer choices, although no local beers. Because of the value and sauces, I would definitely come back to this spot again. And just so you know, they do not have a public bathroom here and they are closed Monday. Ten informative photos to fill in what words miss.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.
