I had a water softener and reverse osmosis water filtration system installed last week by Hill Country H2O and could not be more pleased. This is a very professional company and the owner Derek does not only come out to answer questions, give quotes and check your water hardness level. He does it in a professional, laid back and no pressure way. I called him one afternoon and he came by the same day and gave me all the information I had been seeking for weeks from Lowes and Home Depot with no avail. I have been in my home for 9 years and I am on my second dishwasher due to calcium and mineral build up. My dishes have not been getting as clean as I like and I have mineral build up on my faucets and shower heads. I did not realize how hard the water is in Leander and coming from the country always thought city water was "soft". Well, thats not the case. Derek, the owner of Hill country H2O came out minutes after calling him to set up an estimate and do a water test. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being very hard water my test came back as an 8/10. He gave me all my options and the pricing was very reasonable. He ties the system cost, installation and tax all together so what you see is exactly what you pay. He also installs a reverse osmosis drinking water system with a matching faucet. I consider this reverse osmosis system "icing on the cake" because his pricing was already so low and it is a high end system I did not plan on getting . I could go on and on but the owner is also present on install day and is a TCEQ Licenced Class III Water Treatment Specialist. He does not contract out his work to someone else and he is there from beginning to end and gives you a whole run through on everything after install and answers questions. I did not have a water softener loop already installed so there was tons of work to do and everything came out looking professional with no shortcuts. TL;DR : Yes I am happy with the service, Yes it is worth it, Yes use these people, Yes I would recommend again. I found Derek through the recommendation of a third party, who is an authorized seller of Hill Country products/services. Although the third party was perfectly knowledgeable enough to make me feel confident in spending a (what I consider because I'm a penny pincher) large amount of money, and by extension, trusting to buy from him and use his services; he doesn't know the product to the same level that Daniel did. Daniel along with Patrick were a team that came out to my place to install the softener and filtration. I purchased the stand alone resin and stand alone carbon tank (came with the brine tank), and with doing some research around town with 3 other sellers, found that this system was priced better than competitors. I am all for a deal, but this turned out better than that because although the prices were good, Daniel and Patrick (and Derek) were able to work around my schedule and comfort level (waiting until I'm home to do the inside work rather than making me just to leave the house unlocked for them). They took care of the inside and outside work in a very unobtrusive manner, cleaned up after themselves, and ran all the lines in a hidden manner that made the whole installation look very professional. Outside of the thorough, standard guide and tips about the new system that Daniel gave me, he also allowed me to pester him with technical questions about this thing or that situation. He didn't seem to get annoyed with my overtly inquisitive nature and seemed more than happy to take the time it needed to make sure that I was satisfied. Daniel and Patrick seemed genuinely proud with the work that they were doing which gives me the confidence that the work done will hold, and that I wont be in the wind in the future should I need something done. We built our home a year ago, and at the recommendation of a construction superintendent, we called Derek to quote us a system. He was friendly prompt and very knowledgeable. While I was a bit taken back by the price, he took the time to explain the differences between his systems and what you find at Home Depot. After conferring with a plumber friend of mine, he concurred that Hill Country H20's products were the best and we got a great price. Derek also explained about the annual service visits and how I wouldn't be gouged with add-on costs; the service is all inclusive. That was a year ago and we could not have been happier with the system or the service. Now I have been burned by service providers giving great service at the time of the sale, but poor follow up. We called to schedule our annual system service visit, and again Derek and his assistant (sorry man, I suck with names) were on time, thorough, kept their work area (my home) clean and very friendly. Even after a long hard day of work, these guys finished their task quickly but weren't rushed. Being a first time home owner I am subject to a little paranoia; Derek & Co. took the time to belay my fears, address all my concerns (even the silly little ones) and explained what they did. It's not often that you find such amazing customer service these days. I can rest assured that I have a great system and if I have any problems, I can call the fellas and they will take care of it. I cannot say enough great things about the service we have received during the install and at our service appointment. We have hard water in the area we recently moved to as new home owners (roughly 12 to about 14 gpg), and wanted a softener system to save our appliances and faucets from mineral build-up. Hill Country H20 provides great service and a great product! During consultation, Derrick was upfront about the various packages, their differences, and how/why the softening system operates. If you haven't lived or dug into water softening systems before, it can be a lot to learn, but Derrick provided a nice 101. We sent with the Gold Package (the second to highest tier), and our water has never tasted or felt better. Daniel (one of the team members that installed our units) was extremely knowledgeable and equipped us with everything we need to know to keep the unit maintained - and maintenance is very easy with the gold package (including a self-cleaning valve). An added bonus was that he has an interest in interior design, and was able to help us make informed and aesthetic decisions on how to install the sink filtration system that comes with the Gold Package (HCH allows you to match the faucet they provide and will install the faucet and the system for you). The installation of everything was perfect - they left everything super clean (no debris or water anywhere) and everything has worked like a charm - including the unit under the sink. HCH also provides service to your units for the life of the system, so we feel very confident we will get the maximum utility from our Clack softening system. Highly recommend! read more

I had the full range of responses from the quick email with the surprisingly low pricing to the aggressive and long-winded Culligan pitch. I contacted these folks because of the reviews I read. I had a water softner that was not working. I aam fairly competent and diagnosed the problem. The controller did not ever draw brine from the brine tank. After troubleshooting I called and left a message. That started a text exchange where the in house expert indicated I would need a flapper valve kit. They quoted me a price and I decided it was worht it to take the risk and pay for the repair, rather than purchase and install a new system. Steve came out on the appointed time. He called first. We met and discussed the problem, he thought the flapper valve kit would fix it and went to work. He removed the old valves and showed me how deteriorated they had become. He replaced the old valves with the new ones and the problem was solved! He charged me exactly what was quoted and I am quite happy with the result. I live in Leander, the water is very hard here. My home did not have a water softener loop so reached out to Hill Country H2O. Derek gave me a very reasonable quote to install the loop and the water softener (32000 grain + a catalytic carbon filter tank). Installing the loop was the hard part as the pipes had to be routed under the driveway. The job was well done first time right. No leaks anywhere. Discernible improvement in water quality. One of the best things I liked about Derek is the customer service. He followed up right from day 1, his techs Patrick and Daniel showed up on the committed day & time, completed the job the same day. I have a GE Pro Elite water softener that is 8 years old, and Derek took care of the carbon filter replacement, took care of a leak and tuned the system up for us. He was short staffed this week and he still took care of it. He kept me informed as to his arrival time and he showed up with a smile and positive attitude and got right to work.
