I regret coming back here a second time. The only reason I've come here is because it's down the street from my house and sometimes when I get home from the office I don't feel like cooking and I just want to go somewhere to watch the Dodger game. Both times I've come here the place half empty but I get seated in the very back by the bathrooms and the noisy kitchen where all I hear is clanging of dishes and staff's chattering. The food is expensive and uninspiring. The first time I went here I got a Philly Steak Sandwich that was served with a very dry roll and a tiny portion of steak. My family recently took my grandmother to Hill Street Cafe for her birthday brunch, and unfortunately it turned into a terrible experience. The food was mediocre, the service was nothing special, and despite that, my aunt still left what she felt was a fair tip. Our bill was about $58, and she left an $8 tip (around 14%), even though the service certainly didn't warrant more. What happened next is completely unacceptable. When she checked her credit card statement, she discovered that the tip had been changed after the fact, and instead of being charged around $66, her card was charged over $83. That means the restaurant added roughly $25 in gratuity on a $58 bill, or about a 43% tip without authorization. Altering a customer's tip after they've signed the receipt is a serious matter. We immediately tried contacting the restaurant. They answered the first call, but after the issue was raised, they stopped responding entirely and have ignored every attempt to resolve it. Mistakes can happen. Ignoring a customer after they're trying to address what appears to be an unauthorized charge is what makes this so concerning. Between the average food, mediocre service, and an experience that left us disputing our credit card charge after celebrating my grandmother's birthday, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Check your receipts and your credit card statements carefully if you decide to dine here. read more

We have driven by many of times and finally stopped in. Once on a Friday evening and we had a drink at the bar. Our bartender, Alyssa, was friendly, helpful and so very patient with us as we took some time deciding on a drink. The restaurant is very spacious, clean and welcoming. On our most recent visit we had brunch on a Saturday and we were seated in a timely manor and greeted by Oscar. Oscar was busy with several tables to look after, but he still attended to us and made us feel like we were his only table. He was friendly, and helpful with our questions. We ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich and the Turkey Club Sandwich, both were delicious! Our food arrived quickly, tasted fresh and had plenty leftover. Parking is in the back, there are plenty of spaces but could definitely fill up during peak hours I'm sure. We highly recommend a stop here for any meal as the menu is extensive, has something for everyone and brunch is served until 2pm! Enjoy! read more

First time here. I ordered the Cobb salad. The chicken that came with it was plain boiled chicken. No flavor, cold, not appealing looking at all and bland tasting. I didn't eat it, I saved it to take home to my dog. That is a HUGE disappointment. The menus says mixed greens. But a majority of the salad was ice berg. That's deceiving. I would never of ordered this salad if it said ice burg on the menu. It feels like it's put in as filler. I've also never had a Cobb salad anywhere in my life that came with ice burg lettuce. The amount of bacon, blue cheese, and avocado was plentiful. The tomato's were ok, kind of hard and under ripe. The egg was fine, the dressing was good. For the price I would expect more. The service was ok. Our server brought our drinks and then took our order then never came back for a while to check on us once...he disappeared and eventually a new server came in. A bus boy with a white mask on was passing and my elderly mother politely tried to ask about a drink, the bus boy (older man) rudely and dismissively said it's coming it's coming to her... as he passed looking straight ahead. He clearly didn't give a care and was in a bad mood. She deserved more respect and kindness. The place is cold and weird energy. I wouldn't recommend or come back here. 2 stars because the second server who popped in to check on us and bring our check was nice, and I believe his name was Josue. read more

Came here for brunch for the first time and the pros about this place is it is spacious, there is enough parking, and very kid friendly. The service was also relatively quick. The cons is that it is very expensive. I paid close to $30 for an underwhelming omelet, lol. That omelet had an entire slice of Kraft singles cheese stuck in there (couldn't they have used shredded cheese at least?!). The eggs Benedict were fine. Nestled at Foothill and Hill at 1004 is this charmer of a cafe and bar. We opted for blueberry pancake dish and hot chocolate and it was scrumptious! The hot cocoa was served topped with whip cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. The pancakes were three with blueberries mixed right into the batter. Would a been nice to maybe whip cream too the pancakes but we can't have everything...May request that if I order it again. All in all great ambience and quality dishes! read more

One of my favorite local breakfast nooks. Staff is friendly , everyone remembers you , the restaurant is clean and inviting; and most importantly the food is great. It's located 4 minutes from where I live , near by shopping centers and shops for shopping after your meal. Everything is wonderful about this place. Some of our favorites are the huevos rancheros , chilaquiles, the Denver omelette, and the waffles. My kids, husband and I all love it here. It's a family favorite You can't go wrong. If you're heading either direction down the 210, hop off at the Angeles Crest Highway exit and you can pull right into their parking lot to grab a bite. The menu has a lot of great selections, so it took a while to figure out what we wanted... and we probably wouldn't have taken so long to decide if we'd known how long the wait would be... For standard breakfast fare (thinks like pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon, and fresh fruit) I'm used to short waits... but I understand that sometimes it takes a while to cook up breakfast, especially later in the morning after the early rush is done. However we waited almost half an hour for what was a pretty straightforward order... and that drops things a couple of stars. It's a place known for breakfast, you shouldn't have to wait 30+ minutes for something as simple as eggs and bacon. We had to ask for our initial coffee refills, but the staff was attentive after that and kept the cups nice and hot. I think the decor has been updated since those who made posts about a "90's vibe" because the place was modern and clean. The staff was very friendly, and I feel a bit sorry for them since the food was coming out so slowly... can't blame the front of house for the kitchen's issues. Extremely disappointed in Hill Street. If you know how to order, the food is expensive, but good. Today I got the Carne Asada Tostada Salad. It is usually a winner (but it is $30.00 with tax and tip if you order it with water). Today the meat was riddled with tendons. It was inedible (only 3 bites or approximately 15 were just meat). The server (who remained dignified and gave good service) admitted that the kitchen 'ran out of asada', which he should have disclosed. He said they put a reglar steak on there. I got him to admit that they could not have served that steak under any circumstances. I asked to see the manager and they were a coward and never came out to meet me. They just lost a regular customer who works right across the street. Obviously they were not the business owner. I'd put up a photo of the 12 plus pieces of gristle meat I pulled out of my mouth, but that is gross. For the record, the waiter did offer to replace my dish, but I hate to waste food and didn't want them to throw out the rest of a perfectly good salad. After the waiter went to the manager (because they would not come out to see me) and they (I don't know their gender) offered to take $4 off, I felt insulted and done. The waiter took another $4 off, which I appreciated, so I paid $20 for an asada salad with virtually no asada. Bad management can sink a business. read more

I had a good lunch experience here on a weekday afternoon! Lunch may get busy so making reservations right before would be a good idea. Their seating is spacious and they have a lot of booth seating, which can even fit up to 6 people. There is a lot of variety of food for people with different taste buds. I ordered a mushroom & swiss chicken sandwich and I have to say I was impressed. The portion was a good size to where I had to take half of my sandwich togo. My sandwich had a brioche bun like the ones they use on burgers, but it was absolutely fresh and delicious. Chicken was cooked well, and they gave a good amount of mushrooms. For my side, I had a caesar salad & sweet potato fries (extra $2 for sweet potato fries). The salad was clean, mixed very well with a good amount of dressing so it's not overly seasoned. Though I do hope they cooked my sweet potato fries longer because it was not as crispy and the center of the fry was as hard as a carrot so it was undercooked. Keep in mind most of their entrees are around ~$20, but it definitely meets expectations. Parking entrance is easy to miss driving down on Foothill Blvd, so do slow down as you approach closer. read more
