There are fancy donut shops with very expensive donuts, and there are classic donut shops with traditional donuts at reasonable prices. There is really no in-between. Hill Street is definitely an old school spot. There is nothing fancy about these donuts but they are good and reasonably priced. Sometimes it is very nice not to pay $5 for a single donut. This is my first time here. I rate it 5/5 for value. I bought a coffee, ultimate bagel, and a dozen donut holes. - Coffee: Great for the price. This isn't Blue Bottle or Bird Rock. If you're looking for an artisanal, organic single-origin coffee, Revolution Roasters is a few steps away. Then again, you pay twice the amount. At Hill Street, the taste was good, not burnt, and has caffeine -- I drank it black. Assuming it was a medium or medium-dark roast (I'm not a fan of dark), so it was a win for me. Don't get me wrong, I love my single-origin coffees, but sometimes I just need the caffeine. - Ultimate Bagel: I wanted a croissant, but she was out and recommended the bagel. She packed on a bunch more ham than I expected. It was freshly made, and for the price, again, you can't beat it. - Donut Holes: This is probably the weakest part of my purchase. They were decent, but perhaps there was a bit too much sugar, resulting in not-so-crispy texture that I prefer. Then again, I stopped by at noon, so if the donut holes were sitting out since morning, that could explain.
