First off the girl at the front gate lied to us. She told us there were a couple areas that it was a little shallow but if we just kept to the outside, we would be fine. A couple areas, my ass! We were running up on a sandbar more than once and one time it was really bad. My friend that was with me, could not stand up in the shallow water, and he just kept falling. We finally got him back in the tube in that area and got to another area where I could see for a long way that it was very shallow and I knew there was going to be issues. We tried and tried to get him to stand up and he just couldn't. This went on for quite a while. I finally went for my phone to call for help and a gentleman came down from the bank and asked if we needed help. He was kind enough to help my friend get to the exit on the river. I have never been so frustrated and so tired in all of my life. On top of trying to help my friend, I was struggling because I have cancer. I will never float down this river again using this company. He supposed 4 1/2 hour float down the river turned into almost 7 hours! Do not use this company. read more

PLEASE READ: My family and I went to *Hillbilly haven* RV park to float the river, when our trip was abruptly ended after something inexcusable happened. My 9 y/o niece (accompanied by an adult of course) went to the bathrooms at the front of the park on the golf cart. When they were about to head back they were confronted by a 50+ y\o male who was intoxicated, and yelling saying she was beautiful and had pretty hair. THEN ASKED HER FOR HER PHONE NUMBER! A 9 YEAR OLD GIRL! When I confronted the man and told him I was calling the authorities he hopped in his SUV and high tailed out of the park. I personally spoke to the owner and he admitted to being the mans best friend and said he would kick me out if I continued to speak on the incident. The cops then arrived and told me it's not the first time this same man has been reported talking inappropriately to children. And that children shouldn't be around this park. So I'll ask you not to spend your money here, but I will BEG you to atleast not bring children around this place, and the dirt bags who run it. Thank you for the read. read more

It's nothing fancy but it is a fairly inexpensive way for a family or group of friends to float down the Brazos River for fun. This was a day trip for us so we did not stay at the campsite. read more

As far as the person who took my phone call and the women that had drove us on the bus-they were very nice and helpful. (Didn't deal with anyone else) The price for bringing your own tube was $16/person...and we were told the float would be about 3.5hrs-4hrs...it took us 5.5hrs (give or take) but we just enjoyed our float. It was a nice getaway for a bit and pretty close to where I live..so I will be back! There were areas where you would have to walk..and the water is pretty warm. But it wasn't too too bad. So many complaints on here but here's the reality... you are lying to park on their property, catch a ride with them to a drop off point and use their tubes... it's country as the title insists. You air your tubes unless they are free to help you. So what. Turn on pump and put pump in tube, easy! Check the river prior to even leaving if you are worried about walking at all. Not always their fault and realistically it's their business to take your money and drive you to the wanted destination. Not sure what people expect but from my expectations I would give 5 stars. Bus driver was funny as hell and even though she was speeding she made sure to say she'd slow down if we wanted and sorry for bumps. When pulling up to the location, there was trash everywhere. We took a bus to the location where we entered the water. Along the way, we passed several broke down buses. The river was not flowing. We walked majority of the route. When we arrived at our final destination, there was no one available to pick us up. We had to carry our tubes up a huge slope. WORST place to tube in TX! Waited years to finally go tubing. Was so excited when we got there. I called ahead the day before to check out conditions and the guy said there were a couple areas where the wind was blowing so we may have to walk and pull outlet tubes a bit. No big deal. THE ENTIRE RIVER was windy. I literally had to WALK the entire way because THE wind was blowing so hard in the opposite direction. If you try to relax, you'll either stay in one spot or slowly get blown in the opposite direction. Half way down my tube got a hole in it and deflated. I was walking anyway so I just left it. Hands down the WORST place to go tubing in TX!!! They won't tell you it's not a good day to go cuz they have to make that $. This place lives up to its name though- hillbillies running it. Should have known we were in for a treat when a tattooed pregnant chick with a firearm strapped to her waste is the first person you encounter when you pull in. We did not stay in the RV park but drove out for the day to float the river. We knew it was going to be interesting when we saw 20+ people standing on the corner in front of the office waiting for the shuttle to take them up river. Then it only got better...turn into the park to the lady greeting us in cut off blue jean shorts, ladies cowboy boots and a pistol on her side. Yes pistol, which is already freaking my wife out because she's wondering what kind of crowd this is if this lady has to openly carry a firearm. We brought our own tubes, already aired up. She told us to go find a parking place and deflate the tubes so we can carry them on the shuttle. We then start driving towards the back of the park looking for a parking place. Now keep in mind there are already maybe 200+ people in line waiting for the shuttle and there are all of those vehicles parked all over any flat space with no regard to the other people and how they are going to leave if they finish before you. Complete recipe for a good fight or somebody getting shot, which explains why the lady is carrying a firearm. Now I'm not only worried about mine and my wife's safety but is my truck going to hit by one of the drunks leaving. We could not locate a place to park, which was probably a good thing. On our way out we drove past at least 200+ people in line with their coolers waiting on the shuttle. There is no telling how long it would have taken for us to get on a shuttle. Told a friend about our experience who lives in Weatherford and his comment was (after laughing) that "that place is not very haven like and very hillbilly". Very true.... read more

This will be an unique review, because I didn't visit/patronize Hillbilly Haven. The reason I'm writing this review is for HH's customer service. Last week, my kids wanted to go tubing at HH and with the recent rain and current, late summer river conditions, I called HH to get information, before making the 1.5 hour drive out there. I called after 3:00 (closing time), so I wasn't surprised to get their voice mail. Then, about an hour later, my phone rang. It was HH calling me back, having seen my missed call (with ID). The man on the phone was very polite and honest about the weather and river conditions. We went ahead and started our journey to HH the next morning and called to see if the tubes were floating that morning. Again, the man was very honest and told me that it was currently raining and that the earliest tubes would be sent out was around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. This was too late for us, so we turned around and headed home. He could of easily told me that things were fine and to come out, wanting my business. I was impressed with his honesty and while we didn't make it to HH this summer, we will definitely try again next year. Thank you for your honesty. read more

So, this was my first time tubing at the Brazos river. I was visiting a friend out in fort worth, TX. I had a great time out in the river! Paul the owner was really helpful and friendly which made the experience better. The float was about 4 hours, depending on the current. But the time did go by fast, so the time is perfect to enjoy the experience. I would recommed this place, and i would go back to visit again. read more

Today we went to Hillbilly Haven with a group of friends. Once we got there, we paid our $17 a person and waited 30 minutes just to get on the bus. Once on the bus, we had a lady come onto the bus to give us a 10 minute lecture on river info and safety. Which while we appreciated the information the delivery was slow and, to be frank, unprofessional. Once the bus finally got moving it was a pretty decent drive to the drop off. Where although we were first in line, we were last off the bus. And by the time we got off, there weren't many tubes left to choose from. Two employees set there and watched and told us to pick out the deflated tubes we wanted and air them up ourselves. The place looked like a junk yard. From the moment we got there to the moment we finally got in the river, it was well over an hour after we arrived. For $17 a person, you would think their customer service would be a bit better. Luckily once in the river we had a good time. What was supposed to be a 4 hour float ended up being a 5.5 hour float with our guys walking us to the end the last quarter mile or so. We also had an airboat plow through the river while floaters (children) were in the water. Didn't exactly seem safe to us. read more

Our Singles & Mingles MeetUp Group organized an event in late August to go float the Brazos. We found this place to be geographically appropriate considering our membership base. This place is fantastic! We had a big group, so corralling and then checking in took a bit. The employee staff was ALL very friendly, cordial and polite. They made you feel welcomed immediately. the gentleman that gave us the rules of the river before the bus ride to the drop, was entertaining and informative. The bus driver was safe and quick. He had a great personality and made us all feel welcome. Our group is a very active and fun singles group from Ft. Worth. We do a lot of fun/different events. THIS specific event has been bragged about by all who joined. Could not have been as special without the outstanding service we received at Hillbilly Haven. We will be back. Really rough experience. We had to wait 2 hours for a tube. 1 hour for the bus. The water was filthy with residue on top. No current in the water so we had to paddle most of the time to move. Shallow in many places so we had to walk. Toward the end we had current which was nice. Water was about 85 degrees. Not worth $10 much less $17 each plus a $10 cooler tube. Never again. read more

Definitely do not recommend this place when the river is low, as it was today. The *entire* 'float' consists of dragging your tube behind you as you trudge through warm murky water. The business owner was well aware of the conditions as he gave us the spiel on the bus about how we would have to take turns pulling each other down the river. It would've been nice for them to discount the full price charge as it obviously was not a normal high river level tubing experience. To top it all off we found a sweet adorable lab puppy (less than 1yr old) swimming in the river and no one around us knew who's it was or claimed it. It was starving, thirsty & exhausted so we kept it with us. We fed her & let her rest on our tube. When we got to the end the guy that takes the tubes said 'oh yeah she's the property owners. She does that all the time.' Uh, so her owner lets a tiny puppy with no tags loose along a river with drunk strangers all the time??? Definitely calling animal control when I get home. read more

We got to Hillbilly Haven at 1:15pm. By the time we got to the tubing area it was 2:30 pm and they did not have enough floats. So we wait another hour and a half. If your expecting clean lazy river and tubing this is not it. The river was littered with empty beer cans and cigerette buts. It was so discussing. The water is low in so many areas that you wind up walkng your tube a quarter of the way. Not worth it. read more

I would definitely recommend this for younger adults or young spirits. It is more of a party campground (granted, I have only been over holiday weekends). The bathroom facilities don't have a roof, but I don't expect a 5 star bathroom when I'm camping! We took a bus down to get in the river and it was an out of commission school bus. The ride was fun and the driver was fun, too! The river flow wasn't strong, but it was nice to sit back and relax. When we were picked up, it started to rain and the bus broke down on a hill. You would think that this would ruin the trip, but in actuality it made it more fun! We all got off in the middle of no where and finished drinking out left over beers and got to socialize. The camp grounds were first come first serve so I was able to get a spot on Saturday over Memorial Day weekend. Don't expect to go to bed early because this is definitely a party camp ground! Took the long trip down the river and had a good time with my family, but the cost to value ration is off. $10 per person would have been expensive for the facilities you get. The toilet area was covered, literally, in crap and the tubes don't have any cover. I doubt we'll ver go back. read more

So fun! A group of us in our 20s were visiting from CA and wanted to try tubing down a river. We found this place and are so glad we did this! It's hot here in TX and it was SO refreshing to cool down. The owners were amazing and friendly and even let us borrow a cooler for free because they saw we came unprepared. We had no waters or anything so we went down the the gas station and got some snacks and water, threw them in the cooler, and went floating. It felt like a real southern experience with the bumpy road and dirty bus on the way, and we loved it! Must do if you're visiting the Fort Worth area. read more

Trashy campground! Waited over an hour for an over packed non a/c bus to take us tubing. That night watched one of their drunk employees run their bus into a picnic table 3 times! Glad no one was camping on that site! They definitely live up to their name! We won't be back! read more

The staff is helpful and kind. Paul, the owner was hungover and refused to get my car keys as well as another person's car keys out of lost and found until 10 when he opens for business . So we had to wait 2 hours. When I knocked on his trailer, he was aggressive with a side of stupid. Also, paid for electricity but didn't get it, the tubes are pathetic and expensive, the showers were flooded all weekend. Go float or camp anywhere else. read more

Great place to go cool off in the Brazos River The Owners are Great Folks You might even get to see a airboat . You can also camp there . The folks you meet there are Texas Friendly it seems that you have known them most of your life .The Airboaters are very friendly they like to visit and Talk .They Also slow down and move to the ankle deep water when they Pass you most of them even wave as they go by .They are like big Jet Skis they have to have power to stear. I think the ONLY reason this place has such low stars was because of last years reviews when the state was in a drought. My friends and I had a great experience here about 2 weeks ago. The river was plenty high, so we didn't have to get up and walk at any point. The owners were friendly and laidback, though not so much so that they didn't warn us about not swimming when the river is at this level. They don't have any rules against bringing glass, which we were relieved about since that's what we had brought. I'd honestly recommend against glass though because it's a pain to find a spot back in the cooler to dispose of later--our bad. Anyway, back to Hillbilly Haven itself. Bottom line: great for a chill afternoon of daydrinking on the water. read more

WORST PLACE EVER! Honestly one of the worst days of my life. Was legitimately scared for my safety along with 100 others they squished into a school bus in the middle of nowhere pickup point to bring us back to home base. The day started with the unfortunate news that they had to drive us to a drop off point far away... We did not drive on roads but rather dirt trails with ditches and holes. The driver had no concern to our safety. At the start point, none of the tubes were blown up and we had to do it ourselves... Took over an hour. We floated and by that I mean more like walked down the river (because there was no water). We arrived to the stopping point and they told us it was a two hour wait to get a bus. Again we were in the middle of no where no towels nothing when it started absolutely thunder storming. We waited in a grassy farm field for at least two hours when only one bus came for over 100 people. They squished us in and proceeded to drive us up a wet, soggy, muddy field and hill. SO UNSAFE. The bus kept feeling like it was going to tip over, not to mention the driver was SPEEDING. When we got back they gave us NO refund, only a pass to come pack free.... HELL NO. I ripped them up. No one should ever go back and this place should be out of business. read more

Camp grounds are clean but watch out for the stickers. It's cash only to tube and camp but the atm isn't far. We were able I have a great camp fire and listen to live music in the barn starting at 10pm read more

This was a miserable experience, we waited over an Hour for the buses, we finally got on the river by 2:30 and didn't get off the river until 8pm, it was way too shallow in various parts and we had to walk and pull our tubes, nobody should have been allowed to float this river it was not a good experience and I will never go back. read more
