Ok....granted this is not what you think of traditionally as a five-star restaurant, but the quality of this food and the reasonable prices earn it five stars. Eight of us went in on a Sunday afternoon after an event in the area, and everything we ate was amazing! From the chicken souvlaki wrap (fresh and flavorful) with home-made tzaziki sauce to the fish and chips (light and delicious) and even the chicken tenders (hand-breaded, juicy chicken - wow!) with homemade honey-bbq sauce, everything was perfect. Beyond that, the staff was attentive, accomodating and friendly - especially the chef who I believe is also the owner. Honestly, I cannot say enough about how much we all enjoyed our meal at Hillside. I hope the folks around this area know the gem that they have!! read more

I admit this is going to be a very non-committal 4 star review as I'm not totally sold on this place. It's pretty no frills which keeps the prices low, always a benefit in the usually overpriced boroughs. Technically this isn't a Greek restaurant since most of the food is standard American deli/diner fare, but they do have gyros and souvlaki. Both are served with fries, which are totally forgettable and definitely straight from the freezer. The gyro was amazing, probably the best I've had in at least a year. Lots of tzatziki, plenty of meat, feta, and veggies on a pita that was up to the task of holding it all in. It was dripping in grease which might put you off, but not me. The chicken souvlaki was equally huge, but the chicken was just sort of there, I don't think it imparted much flavor to the sandwich despite how much chicken there was. Hillside does a pretty good burger as well, much better than your typical fast food spot and it will set only set you back about $10 (including fries). read more

After reading the reviews i took my family there yesterday for a meal during the snow storm. The place was quiet , the welcome warm and genuine. The food excellent, the service very friendly. The final bill was extremely good value. I loved the greek salad and fish and Chips. The tzatziki the best i have had. my sons enjoyed the potato skins and the cake was great. We left full and satisfied to find the owner outside just finishing clearing the snow off our car! looking forward to visiting again soon. read more

Food is consistently good and the owner is great! He takes the time to get to know you and welcomes new people to the town. He even gave us some free desserts to take home when he found out we had just moved to the area. We have tried the chicken parm dinner, fish and chips dinner, souvlaki, and some other sandwiches... All have been good and fresh. This has become one of our favorite spots for takeout that we keep coming back to. There is also a good sized, clean area for dining in if you'd rather eat there. We were visiting our son at Tufts Vet School, so we wanted to try the local food fare. Found Hillside Grll through Yelp and this little eatery is awesome. Family feel home made food all the way. We ordered Haddock & Chips, home made chicken parmesan, huge pastrami sandwich and wings. The proprietor, Jimmy, said too much food, so instead of the side salad, he fixed us a couple of the crispy wings. The fish was moist inside and crispy outside and two very large pieces. The pastrami was super delicious deli style. The chicken parmesan was on a bed of marinara pasta. Jimmy wanted us to make sure all of our Los Angeles Dodger back home visit Hillside Grill on future visits. John, the cashier and the whole staff were super friendly and checked on us frequently during our lunch dining. But, though the food was scrumptious, we had enough leftovers for a sumptuous dinner. Excellent service - even better food! No matter what you order - alfredo & broccoli, cheeseburger, pizza, Honey BBQ Chicken, salad, etc. - it ALL tastes good. Small family owned business with the BEST food. Can't figure out why there isn't a long line everytime I go - the food is better than any chain restaurant. I ate at the Hillside Grill today for lunch with friends and it was very good. We had the pastrami sandwich (not greasy), the steak sandwich with peppers & onions, and a blt. All sandwiches came with fries (yum) and we each received a little taste of fresh carrot cake free (delicious). The place was clean, casual, the service was friendly and our waitress gladly explained any questions we had about the menu. All in all, a nice lunch/dinner place. Excellent restaurant. I went once by myself a month ago and got the Roast Beef sandwich and it was delicious. Went back this weekend with the wife and kids and were greeted by the owner, who gave some banana bread to the kids while we decided what to order. We went with a steak and cheese, the owner suggested adding some mayo and it came out perfect, great flavor to the steak. We also ordered the fried Haddock and it was fresh, lightly battered, and perfectly cooked. The tartar sauce and cole slaw were also delicious. I came here with my wife and grand daughter in October last year, when we had a warm welcome and excellent food. I have been telling all my friends and family how good the roast beef sandwich I had was. I have been looking forward to returning and we are now back and I went with one of my grandsons aged 9. He loved his cheeseburger and cleared his plate, something he rarely does. The roast beef sandwich lived up to my expectations. It was perfectly cooked, and with added cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise, was superb. The service could not have been better and the staff were so friendly. I didn't know what to get and asked the waitress for some suggestions. After she told me what was good, I told her to sunrise the between the steak and cheese and pastrami. My husband & I had dinner at the Hillside Grill today and we will be back again without hesitation. The restaurant was immaculate, casual and very comfortable. The owners were warm, friendly and made us feel right at home. I had the baked haddock dinner which was delicious! The haddock was fresh, cole slaw very tasty and the broccoli with a hint of lemon was tender. My husband had the haddock sandwich on ciabatta roll. The batter on the fish was very light with no oily flavor - crisp and light! The french fries were not your usual deep fried restaurant fries and my husband even commented on how delicious the roll was! After dinner we were offered homemade baklava. Was traveling through the area and needed a place to grab a quick lunch. Check on yelp and this place has a 5 star rating, no brainer, this is the place to go! Food was great, staff was friendly and attentive. Young man greeted me, took my order and brought my food out to me. Food was made fresh, so it took a few minutes to get served, as expected. I ordered a Gyro, which is one of my favorite dishes, having grown up in NYC where you can get them everywhere. It was made perfectly, portion was just right. Not overstuffed like some places, and you end up wearing half of it. No lettuce! A gyro isn't supposed to have lettuce, so this was a pleasant surprise. Many places get that wrong and really pile on the lettuce. Just tomato,onion, meat and feta, with tzatziki sauce of course, the way it should be. Even something as simple as the side of fries it came with were just right, absolutely delicious. Really impressed with this little place. Next time I am in the area, I will be stopping in here again. I can see why everyone else gave it a 5 star review as well. read more
