My Husband and I have been here for over a year and enjoy HIlltop Springs more today than the day we moved in. We live in the Independent side of the complex and are amazed at the opportunities we have for socializing, celebrating holidays, weekly social hours and plenty of Activities. Personally we enjoy the Pool and Jacuzzi (Both salt water) Bowling which is every level and a great place to meet new friends. I will admit that for a few months there were Meal issues, service, however Mosaic has gone to work by bringing us an Incredible Executive Director , Amazing Chef who cooks amazing meals, and New Dinning Manager who trains Servers and they are now properly trained and a wonderful eating expreience. Today is October Fest Bratwurst, pretzels with cheese beer dip and I could go on.... Our recent Chocolate Fest was sooo sooo good. I presonally enjoy taking time for card games as well as paint classes etc etc. etc. The holidays are coming and they provide wonderful dinners... and your family is included as well. My husband and I have some activity about every day. I assure you we looked at every place in Shasta and Tehama County. NOTHING COMPARED TO THE EXCELLENCE they provide to their residence. A recent change in Management and addition of new Employees has made a huge turn around.. Management is open to speak with and always responds in a positive matter. THE BEST PART IS . . . . . . . "BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP" It looks like a five star hotel when you walk in but past that, there's not much good to say. Independent living where food, lodging and laundry, if desired is provided. There is also a bistro where there is a coffee bar and occasional pastries can be found when tenants are inconsiderate hoarders that take more than a fair share. There is a new rule (nowhere in our contracts) that independent members and all other tenants have to stay apart while eating Unless you pay more. This has caused numerous problems as it is obvious that Management is prejudiced against the wheelchair, bound and other injured tenants over independent members by. segregating them. While I hate to generalize, it's clear that Management doesn't have things under control despite the fact that they have been in business for over a year now. Most of them are headshaking puppets for the Mosaic Corp. As usual, corporate gives unreasonable orders to Management to intern pass them on to employees who along with the tenants are the only ones to suffer. BAIT AND SWITCH Despite being touted as "Wonderful", food quality, (when it is available and the kitchen is not out) is mediocre at best. When the facility first opened, there was a large menu of multiple pages and a well-known chef became the cook at the facility. When he left, so did the menu. Again, the food is CHEAP and institutional at best. Breakfast is the best meal of the day with good variety. What are the advertise perks of living at Hilltop Springs was that they had a daily happy hour and the company provided the alcohol. Tenants were told that they would have five days worth of transportation but it recently got cut back to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for medical appointments only. On Mondays and Fridays the bus is only used for fun activities instead of medical appointments. If I could give zero stars, I would. Hilltop Springs Senior Living is an absolute disgrace to its residents, their families, and the employees who are forced to work here. This place is chronically short-staffed, and it shows in every corner of the facility. The employees are clearly exhausted and run into the ground -- not because they don't care, but because management refuses to hire enough staff or treat the ones they do have with basic respect. It's heartbreaking to watch hardworking people being stretched so thin while leadership sits back and does nothing. The building itself is falling apart. Everywhere you look there are maintenance issues that never get fixed -- broken fixtures, peeling paint, unreliable heating and cooling, and a general feeling of neglect. For a place that charges families outrageous amounts of money, it's shocking how little effort goes into maintaining even the bare minimum of comfort and safety for residents. Management is the biggest problem here. They do not care about the staff, the residents, or the condition of the facility. Their priorities are completely misplaced, and their lack of accountability trickles down into every aspect of the environment. Instead of creating a safe, supportive, and dignified home for seniors, they run Hilltop Springs like a cut-rate business trying to squeeze every last penny while giving nothing back. If you care at all about your loved ones, do not bring them here. And if you're a potential employee, save yourself the misery. I have never loved a job so much till I started working here at hilltop. I love waking up and going to work everyday and this is because of the amazing care staff and Med Techs and also management we have. We have such a Great team that works well together at taking care of our residents and not only our residents, but we take care of each other as well with helpful support form are amazing management. read more

While I don't have a family member that stays at Hilltop Springs Assisted Living, my husband works there, and he is treated horribly. He works in the dishpit and while most of the managers are good, one particular manager has made him multiple promises that they refuse to fill -- later pretending like they never made those promises or coming up with excuses as to why things didn't happen. These promises were in cadence to moving him from the dishpit to a position higher up in the kitchen -- they even went as far to put him on the schedule for training shifts with the higher position only to take him off of that shift the DAY BEFORE and place him in the dishpit. He comes home miserable every single day and according to him other kitchen staff have been treated poorly as well. Considering how poorly the staff are treated within this facility, I feel terrible about the level of patient care that must occur here. (Especially as a health care professional at a different facility, myself.) read more

I have had so many problems with this facility. They have let my husbands meds run out, they have given him wrong dosages, they have missed giving him his meds all together. They have been turned into the state several times due to lack of care and dispensing the wrong meds to patients. Some staff is great, front desk only, everyone else seems under qualified and stressed out. Management lacks management skills. If a problem arises they are the last to get involved. it's always the blame game. Be prepared to have to micro manage the staff for the 6K+ monthly fee you're already paying! The food can be a joke. Same thing, different day. His floor in his apartment has been sticky for over a month now. They have given half his clothes to other people because they're so unorganized in the laundry department . They have a very high fall rate due to lack of supervision. Found my mother lying in her own waste for apparent some time. Not the first time either. When we first arrived at Hilltop Springs Memory Care my mom's medication were not administered correctly such as wrong medications at wrong times. This went on for many weeks in which I was there everyday for weeks to make sure my mom was getting the right medications. They are completely understaffed, the staff has minimal to zero training, the staff is overworked due to the shortage of staffing (I have witnessed a staff member sleeping on the couch). My mom was never supposed to be alone due to her dementia and was always alone and has fallen many times until she fell and broke her hip. The staff as well as managers would call me constantly at my work to help her my mom's anxiety to calm her down with me talking with her instead of them doing their job. The lack of communication between families and staff members is very unsafe and residents are consistently unsupervised creating an extremely unsafe environment! When visiting my mom I found her in bed sleeping in her own urine/feces and I had to clean her up which was unbelievable!!
