I visited about a year ago and remember having a great experience. So while I was in the neighborhood last week, I decided to drop by for a quick lunch. First, the owners/staff are absolutely wonderful. They are warm, welcoming and want to make sure you're well take care of. When I dropped by, the restaurant was currently under some kind of construction so they are mostly only taking orders for carry out. I ordered the agedashi tofu and a roll with some crunch and salmon. I'm not sure what was up this time but both dishes, the fried items tasted kind of stale - like there was not crunch, just kind of soggy and chewy. It really changed the quality of each dish and made it less enjoyable. I'm hoping maybe it was just a one off experience because they make it so easy to want to come back to support and try try again. But my memory of the food quality was just not the same as my first visit last year. read more

I got this bowl delivered so maybe take this with a grain (or two of salt) - here we got a two protein make your own bowl with tuna and shrimp. the tuna had the weirdest, almost papery texture. flavor was fine but the texture was off. shrimp was solid and a decent portion - I absolutely loved how much ginger was added and the truffle vinaigrette was special. Definitely not a traditional poke dressing but had the perfect lightness to compliment the fish and just enough truffle to not overpower everything - pickled vegetables were quite fun, but definitely belonged more on a roasted meat sandwich than a poke bowl. - nothing objectively wrong but a very average mid bowl that left me wanting more. not a ton of flavor or especially fresh fish. fat fish is still the best poke ive had in DC read more

I saw that there were other Hawaiian entrees and options here (besides poke), so I had to stop by if I'm already walking around in AdMo this past Saturday! The service here was very nice and friendly and I got my food pretty quickly (in and out within 30 minutes). PORK SAIMIN - 16 I am a huge sucker for dashi based broths. The broth was so flavorful, full of kelp and seafood base, tinge of sweetness, but it was much too salty. Like, unbearably salty. Every time I drank the broth, I would need to inhale two large gulps of water. There was a good amount of toppings in the saimin. Interesting to see lightly roasted pork and spam in noodle soups. The couple pieces of kamaboko (Japanese fish cakes) and tamago were nice touches. I love the amount of green onions they gave me (definitely not skimping here). Bokchoy provided a nice crunch. I really liked the super thin noodles (or "saimin") for its texture. Sadly, it soaked up way too much of the broth and was much too salty, so I ended up leaving half of the saimin because I couldn't keep eating it. My mouth was pretty dry for the rest of the day. I'm glad I did because I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl. While I wish I could've had more in the bowl, what I surprisingly liked was the sauce. It hit home. So good that I decided to look up the entire menu to maybe try them another time and whoa! Looks like I need to come back. It's basically a Japanese food restaurant. I recently ordered the beef udon noodle bowl for takeout and it was fantastic in every way-the broth had good flavor without being too salty, there were a good amount of noodles and beef (both perfectly cooked), and many vegetables. I did a pickup order during COVID. The shop is small, with the pickup items sitting on a table next to the open door. No one was there so I felt a little awkward grabbing the paper bag with my name on it. Otherwise, even after a 30 minute wait the food was good. I chose the Spicy Hawaiian poke bowl, which ended up being over $17. It was acceptable, with nothing I would really change but nothing I would look forward to again. A Muay Thai IPA made in Jessup, MD, that tastes like it has fresh iced tea as part of its recipe. We ordered one for each of us, ordered two roll platters and a poke bowl and watched as other customers filed in and were greeted as long-lost friends. Food came, everything was good.
