We just came home from a weekend at the Hilton to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Providence College. What a FABULOUS experience we had at the Hilton!! I've stayed at the Omni numerous times and while it's quite nice, the level of service we received was unmatched at the Hilton. Everyone on staff was beyond helpful and went out of their way to make our stay the very best it could be - from the front desk (thank you Carolyn!! ) to the parking staff, to the restaurant on site, every single experience was simply amazing. Thank you, Freddie, who does a fabulous job a manager!!! I'd highly recommend this hotel - it's convenient to everything - right next door to the Dunk and steps to Federal Hill and and just a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I stayed at this Hilton for Valentines Day weekend. We had a good experience. The bed was sooooo comfortable I'm reconsidering getting another mattess! The customer service was great. The hotel is in a great location-- walking distance to great providence hangouts, restaurants and the Providence Place mall. While it is not the newest Hilton property, the friendly team here more than makes up for any age-related property attributes - the staff here could not be NICER! I travel a great deal for work and stay at many nice hotels but few have had a nicer, more helpful team of associates than what my wife and I experienced during our stay! read more

Stayed there from 7/24/16-7/27/16 with my girlfriend and overall it was a good hotel. We had asked for a king and they put us in a queen and we didn't bring it up with anyone. We also asked to have something brought up to the room for my girlfriend and they never did. we instead had to go down to CVS and get it ourselves. The valets were all fantastic and nice. They were true professionals. The room was OK but I feel like if the thermostat says it can go down to 40 degrees that it would at least be a little bit air conditioned. It was not very air conditioned at all. Overall it was OK, but I would look into staying in another property before heading back to this property. read more

I am often a business traveler in Providence and choose to stay at this hotel - not because I particularly like this hotel but because of its competition in the area. The hotel desperately needs a makeover because of its outdated rooms, lobby, and gym. The rooms could also be cleaner especially the visible dust in the vents. And the room service, although coming from Shula's, is really hit or miss - sometimes room services requests are lost, room service items are forgotten, or the daily specials are the same for months on end. Also, the noise from the hallways and other rooms is sometimes very loud depending on other guests on your floor. For instance, one time I had a couple staying in the room next to me and I heard the screams, profane language, and threats during a fight the couple was having for hours on end...two days in a row. Seriously, the couple was screaming death threats at each other and staff at the hotel did not notice. But, I choose to stay at the Hilton because the Omni is too large and impersonal and the Renaissance is too far from my business meetings. Also, the Hilton is near great restaurants and bars in Federal Hill and Downcity. Location, location, location... But, if anyone from Hilton reads this review PLEASE update the hotel soon especially the rooms and the gym which are at least 20 years old! Also, make noise proofing (like soft closures on doors) a must! I stay at many Hiltons nationwide for travel and this is honestly one of the most outdated I've seen...give it some TLC. read more

Be sure to verify that there are no "events" happening anywhere in Providence the entire day if you want to park at this hotel, otherwise you will get upcharged by 50%, regardless of whether you actually attend an event. Since you can not pay at the kiosk, after it reads your ticket fee as $13 you will have to go inside and deal with the 16 year old parking attendant who will demand you pay $20 to get your car out after only three hours because there is an "event" that day. read more

The location is great - but that is all! 1) we asked for glasses for the room and they never showed up. 2) the air conditioning barely worked. 3) they charge for every little thing...extra for parking and internet and.... 4) there were 2 of us and only one luggage rack 5) We are staying in a Best Western tonight and it has a fridge and microwave and free internet and breakfast as well as an airport shuttle. the HILTON had none of these! read more

I had the experience of witnessing an incredible room service server named Jose. He was attentive, friendly and quick. For my understanding though, management let him go and I'm not only saddened but rather disgusted because the next room service person was rude, didn't care about my requests and never followed up. I sent a message to the manager and I never heard from them. Sounds to me like there are some major issues with management at that hotel. Has been a wonderful experience from check in on! When we checked in, we told the staff we were visiting for my birthday. From then on everyone was so nice! The concierge Juan, and from desk man Evan were great with recommendations. Making phone calls as well as sending a bottle of wine to the room with a personal card! Room is clean and spacious enough. We have nt had any noise problems and are walking distance to most of downtown! Great hotel for a long weekend ! read more

I am surprised how much TLC some parts of this hotel needs for being a Hilton. The revolving door had caution tape on it when I arrived which was gone by the next day and I noticed cracking paint in the lobby and hall and the elevator looked worn so I was apprehensive when I entered my room. I was pleasantly surprised... at first. I had a King room and it was beautiful with granite and a fresh look. But a closer look shows the wear. The window curtain bearings were losing their balls when I slid them open (just a few fell out) and the poor desk could use some touch up stain on the edges. I was a little disappointed that there was no mini-fridge or microwave because I often bring back leftovers to my room. The AC thermostat might need calibration because it said it's 66 but felt like 71-72 which I was comfortable in but others might find warm. Despite that the Hotel needs some maintenance I was very comfortable except for one night. The walls are very thin and I could hear everything outside, in the adjacent rooms, and in the hall. The other guests in the two adjacent rooms must have been together and decided to have races or something in the middle of the night down the halls laughing, running, and opening and closing their doors. I could even hear when they ran their coffee machine! Thank goodness it only happened one night so I didn't have to request a room change. On the plus side, the staff are very friendly and I was happy to see when they had cookies in the lobby. There IS free wifi if you sign up for HHonors which is free anyway so why not? read more

WORST HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED AT! I recently stayed here for a weeken getaway with my fiance. I want to preface this by saying that i travel very often for work so i have stayed at many hotels. We arrived at 6pm(check in is at 3pm) .. Our room still was not ready so without any apology we waited. Once inside the room i was immediately disappointed. Everything looked dirty, the all white bedding was stained, and the bathroom was grimy. We ordered a bottle of wine and the man delivered it to us didn't bother opening it for us just threw it down with two dirty glasses. My wrestling team stayed here for the 2016 New England Wrestling tournament. We always stay here and there is never any major issue. The hotel included breakfast for all my wrestlers, coaches, and parents at no additional cost. The individuals I personally dealt with at the front desk, to include security, were amazing. The employees went above and beyond what they had to do. I had a slight issue with my bedding and they obliged to all my requests in less time than it took for me to explain myself. The staff that assisted in making my stay PERFECT included: Socrates Ramirez, Sinjin Racheal, Melody, Jeff, and Elaine. This will be my go to hotel when I am back in the providence area again. Stayed here this weekend and it was ok. The location is ideal and close to everything you need, especially Waterfire, which was the reason for our visit. The room was a bit dated, but clean, but there was no view to speak of, just buildings and parking lots. In the room, I looked for a hair dryer, but couldn't find one. They did have an iron, so that was helpful. The bed was comfy, but it was very hard to adjust the temperature and I woke up hot and cold multiple times with and without blankets. The bathroom is fine, but desperately needs a fan. After showering it was sweltering in there and took forever to cool down. Self parking is $25 and valet is $28, so keep that in mind when booking. When booking my stay, I included breakfast. The passes weren't presented upon checkin and I had to ask for them the next day. If given the option, the breakfast buffet is impressive with a omelette and pancake station, along with a hot and cold bar, and I highly recommend adding it on. The elevators were a bit slow and are a bit tiny for more than two couples at a time. read more

Pool is tiny, no hot tub. Nice gym with free water and towels. Lobby is beautiful, and staff very friendly and extremely helpful! Room was a disaster. Finding things still on the floor, grime covering the fire alarm, paint splatter on the curtains, and dried blood on our pillow case. However, once notified management send someone up to take care of it right away, and corporate thoroughly apologized and offered a free night. Will let you know how it goes! read more

I've stayed here a lot over the past 10 years. Several hundred nights. The main reason is I like downtown and it had a Shulas. They've now taken out the Shulas and replaced it with a restaurant that is subpar. The chowder had a sour taste/smell, the club sandwich had cheap ham. The good thing is there are many good restaurants that deliver to the hotel. The parking is pricey but you can usually get better parking at the convention center lot around the corner. This hotel needs renovation. It needs an executive lounge and needs more room variety. My most recent room didn't have a desk area where I could do work so if you need to do that you should ask. Out of all the hotels downtown this would rank #4. Its unfortunate because if the owners would invest a bit they could have a top tier place but this place has really only went downhill since 2007 when I first stayed and now that Shulas is gone I have one less reason to stay. read more

Gym facilities are poor for a Hilton. Staff is decent but require further training. I believe the fundamental issue here is management after two stays. They do not operate under the notion of optimal customer service. Also, the valet staff is overly aggressive for tips. I know how to park and wheel my bag a few feet. read more

I've stayed a couple times here when I'm in Rhode Island for business. The valets are friendly and down to Earth. You can pretty much just shoot the shit with them. Getting through check-in is hassle free. Not like it shouldn't be. I usually get a room with a king size. The bed takes up most of the room space so the rooms are not big by most standards. I get free breakfast at the Shula's restaurant. They have cook to order omelettes, which I like. Everything else is pretty much your standard American buffet food. I also have free access if I don't want to use their gym I can walk over to the Westin and use their gym. I've never gone to that gym before, but it sounds like it's a big fitness center. The hotel is perfect walking distance to Federal Hill where there are some good restaurants to try and it's not far at all to Brown Village where you can also find some good cheap eats. The bedding is pretty soft and the pillows are ultra plush and soft so if you need something firmer you're gonna have to stack a few pillows on top on each other. When I come back to RI I'll try to keep staying here. read more

Our search for a decent hotel in Providence that is priced right continues (son at Providence College). This was even more disappointing than most. One night stay wasn't cheap, one of the beds in our room smelled like vomit, the food and service in the steakhouse was awful and the fire alarm even went off in the early a.m. for no apparent reason. i got a corner room, quiet except that it faced 95 so i heard a lot of truck traffic. and yes the windows were fairly thin. i got a room w/o a desk (even though they knew i was traveling for work and had govt rates). the thermostat didn't work and wobbled when i pressed the buttons. i set it on 64 and it still felt like 78. the light in the bathroom turned out halfway when i was brushing my teeth for the night and oh yeah....there were still "brown" stains on the bottom of the toilet bowl and it kinda smelled like pee. oh yeah, parking cost $21 for self park and the small little entrace with steps connecting the parking garage to the lobby was ridiculous if you had tons of lugggage. at least with corporate i got "free" breakfast (i had to pay tips) and free internet. will i stay here again? no. i'll try out the marriott or westin up the street. at least it may look more modern and possibly better experience than this one. oh, a few perks. the staff was extremely nice and there was a manager happy hour on a wed from 5-7pm. need i say free dinner: moz sticks (eh....), bruchetta (yum!), seafood risotto (i probably ate 8 little cups of it...super yum!) and wine! read more

Hotel was great, no .....good. Shaky wifi, elevator issues (addressed immediately), construction at entrance and a cheerleader convention (not kidding). What was great was the way we were treated by Nina (hope I spelled that right) at the front desk. What a professional! She expertly and courteously handled our concerns about how many beds we needed, my forgotten toothbrush and our millions of questions about the area. She even spent time with my daughter as we were in town to visit Johnson and Wales and Nina is a grad. Both Hilton and Johnson and Wales should be very proud of this young lady! I am the President of an organization that was participating in a convention occurring at the Rhode Island Convention Center. We were assigned to this hotel and it was very convenient to the RICC so as far as that this hotel was great. The problem was the service at the hotel itself. We had 7 rooms booked for our group and check in was posted at 3:00. We arrived on Friday morning for the convention, one of our rooms were able to check in at about 12:30. When they joined us at convention and told us they were able to check in we thought "great" we can check in early". But then when the rest of us tried to check in before dinner around 5:00 we were told that our rooms were not ready. Check in was supposed to be at 3:00, we had two rooms that were not available until Midnight on Friday night. This meant some of our group was not able to freshen up before dinner or settle in. It was extremely inconvenient and unprofessional. They did give us a discount on these two rooms but not as mush as we would have liked. The hotel and the rooms were very nice once we were able to get into them but they were seriously understaffed for the the volume at the convention this particular weekend. read more

There's nothing particularly wrong with this hotel. It's a clean, well maintained hotel and I found all of the staff very friendly. But the rooms are surprisingly small, the location is in an ugly corner of the downtown, and the connected restaurant is just plain bad. More to the point, the hotel nickles and dimes on a lot of stuff. For example, internet is $10 a night, per device! So you have to pay $10 to use your laptop and then again if you want to use your iphone. That's pretty absurd. The parking is overpriced as well, compared to other options downtown. I would personally choose the Biltmore next time I'm in town. read more

It's an average providence hotel. The rooms are tiny but VERY clean. Vending machines and ice are not on every floor.

Let me start this off by Matthew needs to be fired! i called to confirm the room 3 days before and i was told i was all set. when i got to the hotel they told me my reservation was for 3 days ago and they were fully booked. after sitting in the waiting room for 40 min i found out they messed up the dates in the system. Matthew (the guy that answered when i called to confirm) changed my reservations for that night. then when i get there parking is $21 for one night and very tight spaces. pool was very small and always full of kids. Expensive room service. The room and TV were small, and we didn't sleep good in the bed. the vending machines and ice machines are all on different floors. the only reason i gave 2 stars is because the nice things in the room coffee maker (even though there was no outlet where it was setup), iron/board, nice mirror and bench near the window. plus the location was great walking distance from the waterfire and bars.
