I live in Providence, but I had out of town guests visiting and we wanted to stay downtown, so I booked us into the Hilton. I've stayed at a lot of hotels around the world, but I have to say, I experienced possibly the best customer service I've ever encountered at this hotel. This was my first Hilton experience, so I assume it's par for the course, but after a while we were marveling at how exceptionally NICE every one was--and not in a fake-seeming way. Everyone was just so genuinely friendly, it made the whole stay just a very, very pleasant, effortless experience. Our room was nice, if a bit small. I couldn't get a room with two double beds because the cheerleading convention was in town (hilarious), so the three of us crammed into a king size bed + rollaway. The bed was so enormous that my friend and I didn't kick each other once, and I'm a bit of a thrasher. I slept very well all three nights--the mattress was great. I didn't use the pool or fitness center at all, but I did go for a run outside. That information is not pertinent to the hotel, I'm just bragging that I worked out while on vacation. My two small complaints are the fact that parking for hotel guests is $25/ day, which seems a bit ridiculous to me considering we were already paying more than $200/ night to stay there; and the fact that there's no free wi-fi. It kills me that I can pay less for a Holiday Inn Express type place and get breakfast AND wi-fi, but more luxury hotels nickle and dime you on all of that. I didn't pick this hotel for the luxury, more for the location, which is excellent. Overall, I would certainly recommend this place--mostly based on customer service. I realized as we were leaving that I really didn't have any complaints of any kind, which has never really happened to me at a hotel before. It was really a relaxing feeling. It wasn't until I looked at my data charges on my phone bill that I remembered the wi-fi. read more

We got a kick ass rate on Hotwire ($65/night + some fees, etc) and we had a feeling it was the Hilton so, we made the reservation and we were happy with the result. I could see where people say it's old and the decor definitely needs some upgrading (the duck taped room number sign down the hall from us was uh "classy"), but overall it wasn't all that bad. It was supremely clean which I think is most important. The room was a ginormous with tons of fluffy pillows on the king size bed. The pool was small, but heated (as advertised) and perfect for a dip. All of the staff were all attentive and friendly. They made eye contact and asked if you needed help....what a concept! The parking was a bit outrageous at $20 a night, but I felt safer having it in their garage than out on the streets of Providence. The best thing about this hotel was it's location. You could almost spit on the Dunkin' Donuts Center and walk a block to some cool artsy restaurants and bars. read more

I stayed here a while back, for one night. We were seeing Van Halen at the Dunkin Donuts Center and didn't feel like making the drive back to Boston after the show. The room was decent. A bit small but not too too bad. As far as navigating the hotel, it was the most conveniently laid out place. The staff could have also been a bit warmer, especially at the attached Shula's Restaurant (but that can go under a different review). All in all, I expected a little better for the money, but not too much. It did do the job I needed though, provided a place to lay my head after a night of drinking at the Van Halen show. read more

Not one of Hilton's better hotels as it is very dated and needs to be deep cleaned. The carpet smells dirty and the walls are a bit dingy. The room itself was ok - long vanity for multiple people to spread out, spacious room for three but, again, the space needs to be freshened. The bed linens on one of the double beds smelled dirty too! I had to switch in the middle of the night to the other bed with my daughter, and that smelled cleaner. Stayed here for business, working at an event at the Dunkin Donuts Center. We did get a suite and enjoyed it. TV and mini fridge were giving us issues but someone came within 2 minutes of us calling and it was fully taken care of within 5 minutes. The soaps and shampoos were amazing and the hotel was right next to the Center so location was perfect. They gym was small but they had free headphones and free waters which was a really nice touch. Great service and parking was come and go which is rare and awesome! I still would pick the Westin if I got to choose, but the Hilton is a good hotel that I would stay at again. read more

This is perhaps the most run-down Hilton I have ever stayed at.... It smelled damp and moldy from the lobby all the way up to our floor, the 6th. It only became stranger from there, and not in a good way... 1). Only partial roll of toilet paper upon check in, had to call 1/2 day thru for an additional roll. They brought one. One. 2). No trash can liners in any trash cans. Had to call for some of those, even though it actually was for THEIR benefit. They brought three laundry bags for me to install myself. Laundry bags, yes, for the trash cans. 3). A guy knocked on our door, unsolicited to deliver a microwave and refrigerator, and interrupted my nap to install and plug them in. Well, we had to unplug one to use the coffee maker the next morning. Then unplug to use the microwave. Over and over. Just strange. 4). Worst of all....the public ice maker/dispenser was missing its bucket resting platform, so you had to hold your bucket with one hand and push button with the other, meanwhile looking down into the depths of the machine where the part was missing. It was filthy and rusty. Again, just strange. And ghetto. 5). I always count on a hotel to have a hair dryer, because....well, they always do. Not one here. I could have brought my own. 6). No exhaust fan in the bathroom. Isn't this code? Maybe that's why the hotel was smelly. Minor items: tub took 20 minutes to drain after a five minute shower. Sconces in the bathroom and hinges on the door were rusted. It really reminded me of some hotels I've stayed at in Mexico on the beach. My wife and i went there on a Friday @ 3:00 P.M. check in time when you check in they give you a card so you can get into the parking lot it's like a crossing gate we found one empty space so we parked there also even though we were staying at their hotel we were still charged $ 25.00 dollars to park if you wanted valet parking $28.00 dollars again their hotel you are staying at there......we got two double beds they were not queen they were two full size beds good thing we are not big people the room had a small refrigerator no microwave also was @184.00 dollars for the night granted it was a Friday night check out time was 12:00 so we walked to the parking lot to get our vehicle again parking lot was packed no empty spaces in fact the 3,4 handicapped spaces had vehicles in them that didn't have handicapped plates i would say they only had about 30 spaces total in the lot my wife and i travel a lot but we just couldn't get over the $25.00 dollar fee to park. One last thing we were going to get breakfast before we left it was $18.00 dollars a person! and it wasn't even a buffet so we wen't to Starbucks next door. read more

I stayed here this weekend, 2/19/17, with my boyfriend. The hotel was pretty average, nothing to complain or rave about. My reason for the one star is my experience with the staff/parking situation. When we arrived, the valets at the front told us that "if we were staying at the hotel, to bring our ticket inside and the hotel would validate it and we would not be charged for the overnight fee". Great! Well, when we checked out the next morning we were directed to the parking podium in the lobby where the woman told us the $25 would be added to our bill or we could pay there. Confused, I told her what had transpired the night before with the valets and she called one guy over who looked at the computer and said he "didn't see anything on our reservation". This was extremely unprofessional as you should not have your staff misleading your guests. We would have made other parking arrangements had we know we would have been charged. Besides saying "sorry" nothing was done and we left feeling mislead and upset. We will not recommend this hotel to anyone and we will not be staying here again. read more

Horrible hotel experience. Only reason for 2 stars is because of Mrs. Lenora in housekeeping. The check in process was bearable only due to arriving at midnight and I was tired. Couldn't believe the rooms didn't have refrigerators or microwave. Outdated. My room showered curtain was covered in hair like someone had cleaned out the tub. Mrs. Lenora replaced everything. Even gave me hug and asked was there anything she could do for me. She even left me a personal note. She went the extra mile to make sure I enjoyed my stay. She didn't criticize the person who had apparently cleaned my room. She just smiled and took care of the issue. Our keys were deactivated our second day. The front desk staff was very rude. I could not deal with them. On 5/18/19, another guy manager showed the front desk staff that incidentals were already paid by our corporate credit card. They didn't even apologize for the hassle. The company should have Lenora working front desk. Other attendees for our conference expressed complications throughout our stay. We recommended that our organization choose another location for the event next time. We never have these complications with Embassy .Again I would like to thank Mrs. Lenora for her hospitality, personalized notes, and hugs. read more

if you have seen one too many commercials with william shatner and the theme PRICE LINE NEGO TIA TOR! ingrained in your psyche and decide to book your room at the hilton through it be wary. since it didn't say what kind of bed we would have i called to make sure we would get a queen or a king. the operator said "oh, since you booked it through priceline we can only give you what's available and it might be two twins." i didn't like her tone. it was kind of a "you tried to save some money? ew! you might have saved 50.00 a night on the room, but hahaha we get the last laugh!" things were not looking good when we arrived. as we pulled up to the hotel so did three firetrucks with sirens blaring and lights going wild. turns out it was a problem with the elevators and not a fire. no big deal. so we had to walk up eleven flights of stairs, also not a big deal. an employee was very nice and apologetic and offered to carry the bags for us. after being in a car for 5 hours i needed the exercise anyway. thankfully they had a queen sized bed for us after all, and aside from the operator that i talked to before the visit everything went smoothly. until we got back from dinner and walking around. two drunk guys kept trying to get in our room. they kept swiping and swiping their card and were completely flummoxed as to why the door wouldn't just open. i walked over to the door and said "you have the wrong room" "okay, sorry!" one said. the other kept trying to swipe. "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" i asked. then they disappeared. what a buzzkill. this type of stuff could have happened in any hotel though. the room was squeaky clean. yes, it squeaked. overall it was alright and while it's right off the highway, you never hear it and it's in the middle of downtown and across the street from trinity brewhouse. nice. read more

The hotel is a nice hotel with a few quirks that need to be attended to. The rooms were a good size for $105 a night(we had a special AHL Hockey rate). They were clean and well stocked with towels. The towels were a nice size compared to other places. Complimentary shampoo, cond, and body soap, as well as mouthwash. no toothpaste though. Check in was quick and efficient. They were especially nice to my daughter. *bonus points* The pool was a little cold the first day. I requested it be raised a few degrees and the woman did it IMMEDIATELY. :) I was impressed with that service. Valet parking was $28 a night. Only $3 more than self park. Worth it in my opinion. The valet was very quick. I called down to get the car and it was there when I got downstairs. They helped me load the car and even noted I needed some air in one of my tires. *bonus points again* The issues needed to be worked on: Downstairs by the pool are doors to the outside. People are constantly coming and going. This presents a few issues. #1 Noone is monitoring these people. Anyone can enter the hotel via this entrance. #2 The area inside the door is frezzing because of the constant traffic. Not an issue unless you use the pool. When you leave the pool you have to go in the hall to get on the elevator. FREEZING COLD. Not my idea of fun!!! #3 There wasnt a bathroom near the pool area that I could see, and no changing area. HOWEVER, the pool was well stocked with towels and they checked the water while I was there. BTW, Starbucks is right next to the hotel. BONUS! So, my final score for the hotel is 4 stars!!!!! Shulas: Dinner: We were running late to the AHL skills comp. Well, not late. We wanted to get there early. I told Chris at the front desk we needed to be in and out in 20 min. He assured me no problem. We got a seat and were promptly seated. The prices are average if you compare them to NY and Boston. The sandwhich we ordered came ($13) and it was very tasty. waiter forgot the requested ketchup and was chatting it up in the corner. He was very busy and had a lot of tables, but he stayed chatting for over five min. As a result, we didnt get a drink for my daughter and we didnt get the ketchup till I got up. BUT, they did get us in and out in 22 min. 3 stars for this experience. Breakfast: We had the steak and eggs, with a side of hollandaise sauce. The eggs were slightly overdone (not running) and the sauce was too buttery. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. The home fries were wonderful as well. 4 stars bc the food was higher ok but service was excellent. Dinner: We ordered the french onion hamburger with green bean (veg of night) and a kids turkey cheddar sandwhich with potato chips. To start a potato asparagus cream soup. Soup: it was ok, nothing special. A few pieces of asparagus thrown into a cream soup. We ate it, but I wasnt impressed. :( Hamburg: My burger was excellent. It was a true med rare but the taste was amazing. My green beans were good but I didnt taste the garlic sauce. Sandwhich: good. Chips: homemade and delicious! Service: 5 star. attentive and impeccable. Total review: 3.5 stars The restaurant was pricier than I expected only because it was as expensive as NY or Boston. I have never stayed anywhere where every single person on the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We were able to check in early with no difficulty. When I called the desk because the TV remote was not working properly, I hardly had the phone hung up when the man knocked on the door with a new remote. When I saw him later in the elevator he remembered me and the floor on which I was staying. We were going to the Dunkin Donuts Center and it was literally steps away. Shula's, the restaurant, was superb. Get the steak sandwich, it will not disappoint! We needed a cab and one was called and arrived in 2 minutes! All In all, I will most certainly return! read more

Service at this hotel is pretty good, however expect them to nickel and dime you every chance they get. Pros: Good service Affordable Comfy beds Cons: $10/night for WiFi, per device. $20/night for a fridge in your room. $28/night to park your car, despite (unlike other hotels around) the fact that they own their own parking lot. Two things that really upset me are the parking and the laundry service. I could park on a city street, get a ticket, and pay less a day than to park at the hotel I'm staying at... this is unacceptable. Especially considering there is a parking lot attached to the damn hotel. What really upset me and prompted this review was their laundry service. They charge $20 for 10 lbs of laundry, and it's $2.25/lbs after that. There's no scale, so you have no idea how much you will actually pay. I just got whacked for $45 for laundry. The best part? They washed one of their own towels and one of their wash cloths with my clothing. I have clothing that is now fraying apart after I gave it to them. And I'm missing a sock. Oh, and everything is super wrinkled so now I get to iron it all. For $45 to do some laundry, I do not expect missing clothing, damaged clothing, or wrinkled clothing. This is a nickel and dime operation that will bilk you for every cent. Again, the service is good and the beds are comfortable, but I'm very annoyed at the rest of it. read more

I recently stayed at the Hilton for 2 nites. I had read the previous reviews about the parking and by the way some spoke, I was expecting to pay $25./day. When I checked out after staying for about 42 hours, I paid only $25. (I could only find the hourly prices listed on the ticket meter itself when you enter the garage area; for a little extra, valets are available if you need them.) Yes, I must agree, even for an urban hotel, the price of parking is exorbitant. That being said, I experienced some wonderful customer service despite a couple of snafus. First, the rooms are not that big, but very clean and well appointed - though I wished they had had a mini-refrigerator in the room . I loved the fast elevators. The pool is on the lowest level, small, and can fill fast; I liked the ample hours open, with towels. The parking garage may be accessed without going out in the rain. The complementary Wi-Fi did not work, so I was happily given a special code for access; also, a technician came up to take a look at the LG television, as some channels were dark and I could not find the adjustment to lighten it. After a walking tour of downtown Providence the only full day I was there, I came back to my room to rest before dinner just after 2pm and found a family stacking their luggage outside my door with a key card with my room number on it! I immediately called the desk and told them about the mix-up. Also, housekeeping had not been in the room, nothing had been straightened since I left that morning. The manager at the lobby desk questioned me about when I checked in and told me a hotel representation would arrive shortly. I was beginning to fume at this point, as I wanted to rest - and later when housekeeping arrived I voluntarily went down to the lobby for almost an hour so the housekeeper could proceed. I must commend the staff for customer service. They apologized profusely and said what had occurred was not the high Hilton standard. Also, for the confusion they gave me a complimentary breakfast in their downstairs restaurant, Shula's. (There's also a too-small Starbucks in the basement you access around the outside of the building.) This hotel is centrally located with many venues within walking distance. Although not perfect and with uneven training of staff, I found them so gracious and hospitable that I could not help but to give them at least a 4-star rating. [NOTE-I decided to lower my rating to three stars. The day I left this hotel, I found an additional night's charge on my credit card! Something happened to my original reservation which I had paid for in advance two months before arriving. Whether it was the pre-registration link one gets before arriving, or the issue of that family who was given my room (and key!) half-way through my stay, I'm still not sure what exactly happened. After phone calls to the rooms manager, she could not fully explain it either. I finally got the amount removed after about 10 days. She was very nice but I know I would really think twice about going to this hotel again - too many lingering problems.] read more

When planning our 4th trip to Waterfire Providence, we confused hotels and made a reservation at the Hilton Providence instead of the Hampton downtown. It turned out to be a worthwhile mistake. The hotel is located right in the middle of the action of the City's night life...short walking distance from the restaurants, cafes, and bars on Federal Hill, and adjacent to the convention center. Inside, the staff are all extremely helpful and professional. I had the opportunity to listen to staff answer phones, check people in, and answer questions very late at night (past midnight). Despite the late hour, the staff was as courteous, professional, and warm as they had been with us earlier in the afternoon. Our room was spacious and clean. And the bed...oh my! So incredibly comfortable!! The soaps and lotions smell great. There is a safe, ironing board/ iron, suitcase stand, and plenty of hangers in the closet, and a blow-dryer in the bathroom. There is a little store area for supplies, where there is also a microwave if needed. The downside is a lack of breakfast included. They do have a nice restaurant, with a good reputation, but it's a bit pricey. A short (ish) walk up Federal Hill will get you to the Classic Cafe (great food and service...and were so good to our 14-month old daughter!) So another upside has a downside...there is a Starbucks attached to the hotel - separate entrance but franchised by the Hilton. That's the upside! The downside is that the Starbucks is not furnished with a scanner! The staff is forced, with long lines, to enter patrons' mobile rewards member# by hand. You may be wondering why this issue is not listed under Starbucks. As this location is owned by the Hilton Providence, threy are in charge of how and with what resources, the store is run. But the best upside of Starbucks is employee Rashon...what a treat! If planning a trip to Providence, stay at the Hilton and go visit Rashon at Starbucks! read more

So u select a hotel with restaurant on site as u know u will be making long days and just want to be able to eat something without having to leave...well Hilton/Shula's decided to renovate the restaurant during my stay.. Ok that can happen, but do u think Hilton or Shula's went through the effort of warning u? maybe some people, but not me..so here I was..9pm ready for a quick meal and got nothing..was sent to a horrible place called Trinity brew pub (med. rare beef stands for well done there..u get the picture) ..of course Hilton people were apologetic but other than that did nothing to make this night any better..bought myself a $14! glass of wine to forget this ' nice' experience..u would thjnk they would give u a free drink to compensate....think again! no customer focus, that is clear..lost a customer read more

I stayed there because I was seeing a show at Dunkin Donuts Center. It couldn't have been more convenient... right next to the venue! I arrived Thursday and departed Sunday. I checked in online to a top floor corner room. When I arrived I was told I had been "upgraded" to a room with a king bed. This is code for they gave my chosen room to someone else. First two nights were fine. The room was suitable, but nothing special. I agree with others that the Omni is much better and often can be had for the same price. Fast forward to my last night, Sunday at 4am; I've been awake since 2:30 a.m., and moved twice to different hotel rooms. The noise from the elevator is what woke me up and prohibits me from returning to sleep.... Those were the desperate and tired words I typed that miserable last night in Providence. It turned out that at some point in the night people had been stuck in one elevator, and the entire night the elevators continued to make horrible noises that could be heard throughout the hotel. I did not rest well, indeed I was awake most of the night. I spoke with the manager at the front desk while I checked out and she offered me 10,000 HHonors points for my troubles. Considering the hotel is a Category 6 hotel and requires 40,000 points to redeem for a nights stay I don't really think that was a sufficient remedy for the inconvenience I endured. read more

Absolutely phenomenal staff. The hotel itself - meaning the location, accommodations, furniture, etc. - are what I expect from a downtown hotel in this price range. Everything was clean and comfortable. But the staff really set the hotel apart. When I entered I was immediately greeted by several friendly faces. When I mentioned that I was in Providence for an interview, they quickly asked where I needed to be and what time - then provided guidance as to how early I should plan to leave and reserved a cab for me. They also provided a map of the city and gave helpful directions. Through the rest of my stay, all of my questions and needs were answered/met incredibly quickly and graciously. read more

Had a nice stay here last weekend. Great room, quiet, everything we needed, and the price wasn't bad. The flat screen TV was great, the towels were fluffy, bed's comfortable, and the view out the huge window was pretty cool as well. I'd definitely go back for a spontaneous weekend trip. Scored a room here for $50 on Priceline. The parking garage was dingy and not well maintained, nor very handicapped accessible. Even after "validation", the parking overnight was still $21. The hotel was booked because of a graduation that day, but we were still able to check in early. The room itself was good. The bathroom had no ventilation, but the one vent provided a direct link to the room next to ours, so we got to listen in to some good conversation. There was a light up advertisement on the hotel that was visible from different parts of the city, making it easier to find our way back. It was good, and for fifty bucks, four stars. read more

Nice, clean hotel, easy on/off the highway, comfortable rooms, good price on Hotwire. This would be a good place to stay if you're hanging out in downtown Providence. It's easy walking distance to Federal Hill, Providence Place, and the Dunkin Donuts Center. It's 21 dollars to self park which is a bit of a pain and the garage entrance to the hotel has a narrow staircase. Be ready to carry your bags up a couple of stairs if you go that route. They only have double beds!! Who the heck these days in a Hilton only have DOUBLE BEDS. I have stayed in many Hilton's and all there hotels and never have I been told sorry your king room you requested is not available we only have two double beds. Well that would be ok if I were by myself but I haven't slept in a double bed sine I lived with my parents 43 years ago. It's total bull crap!!!and their freakin elevators hold 4 people tops unless you want to snuggle (NOT). Stay somewhere else!!!! read more

Don't bring your car here and expect it to be safe. We parked our car in the garage attached to the hotel. Our car was vandalized and destroyed. Probably 15,000 in damage, and the front desks response was we are not responsible. They contract out the garage to a different company. By the way only cameras at the entrance- would not be surprised if this was an inside job and someone from the garage or Hilton specifically let the people into the garage. We have stayed at high end Hilton's all over the US and I don't think we will ever return. read more
