I love this place! They are fast, the food is soooo tasty & fresh and everyone has great customer service. I've dined inside but mostly do to-go orders. The way they package their food is something not talked about. The containers seal well so the curry doesn't spill out, it's placed in a paper bag and put in a plastic bag for travel. I appreciate this!! I'm the kind of person who eats the same thing over and over and never really gets tired of it. With that, their Butter Chicken is my favorite. Recently moved to the area and we are so glad to have found this place! My husband and I ordered the tandoori wings which were SO yummy. The garlic cilantro naan was the perfect portion for two (even took some home) and it's great for garlic lovers. For entrees, I had the chicken vindaloo and he had the lamb korma. Both were incredibly delicious and the meats were so tender. We got a "medium" spice for both which was similar to a Thai 7/8. The service was great and so nice! I was excited to see Himalayan Bistro newly pop up on Yelp, and with a solid 5-star rating. We've eaten at two other area Himalayan/Indian restaurants and they were both very good. However, the depth of flavor at Himalayan Bistro takes it a notch above the others! The food is served as usual in small silver dishes but they were actually larger than expected so it was a delightful bonus to pack some home for lunch the next day. The garlic cilantro naan was perfection! Entrées were outstanding--chicken extremely tender and vegetables done just right, sauces were creamy, creamy delicious with flawless blending of spices. Choice of heat is 1 - 5, we chose #2 and the dishes had a delicious very warm glow but not overwhelming (would not have ordered higher). We do like medium hot Mexican salsa and 3/10 on the spicy Thai scale, to give a reference point. I imagine #1 here would be a good mild balanced heat, and #5 is probably lava. So choose carefully! Excellent service, not the five-star service of a stiff ritzy corporate resort, mind you, but the five-star attentive treatment you would get at a friend's house, someone who truly wants to make you comfortable and share their hospitality and family dishes with you, not someone fishing for competitive awards. It's hard enough for established eateries to make it through these difficult times, much less opening a new restaurant, but you can tell they are trying very hard to please their patrons. They are very gracious and accommodating. The decor was still a little sparse but painted in relaxing colors with prayer flags and enjoyable music videos playing. I hope eventually to see more warm accent lighting, Himalayan fabrics and wall decor but even without that the food and service warrants a 5-star. read more

We are Oceanside locals and have been patiently waiting for a Himalayan restaurant to open in our town. They've only been open for 6 days but they've left a great impression on us. The service was fantastic and the food was full of spices and flavors which are hard to find around here. We ordered a goat curry (not pictured), garlic Naan, butter Naan, Chicken Momo, and Lamb Sekuwa, a himilayan specialty. My wife asked for the goat curry to be spicy and she was not disappointed. She told me when she's craving goat curry this will be her new go-to place. The spices inside the curry was a perfect blend. Sometimes when ordering curries it tastes like it was just the curry powder. Not this place. You can tell some love was put into it. I ordered the lamb. I believe it had been marinating due to the skewer holes gone right through the middle along with the intense flavors for such an unassuming piece of meat. I loved it and so did my daughter. It was cooked perfectly; not overcooked or undercooked. The slightly caramelized bed of onions it was sitting on had such epic flavors which embodied the entire plate. I added a squirt of lemon which came with the plate and it definitely set it over the top in the best way possible. My wife and I shared a plate of chicken momo, a favorite of ours when going to Himalayan food. There was a home made sauce in the middle which went great with it. It was so delicious we put it on our Naan bread too! We asked for some of the sauce to go because of how delicious and unique it was. The two Naan breads were standard for Naan we've had in the past. Tasty and meant to compliment the main courses. We got to meet the head cheff and, I am assuming, owner. He was very friendly and we learned he has been cooking professionally for over two decades. You can definitely tell because each dish was plated beautifully and the flavors were epic. We are happy this place opened up in Oceanside and I hope it gets more customers as word grows. They deserve it. The prices here are very pre-inflation we've all been experiencing the past year or so. Once Oceaside approves their beer and wine license, we will definitely be regulars here. I'm editing this review that I recently posted as 1 star after a horrible experience with the restaurant both royally messing up our order and taking no accountability about it. However, the owner recently reached out to me to apologize for the experience and wanted to make it right by offering us a replacement for the very incorrect order. I did appreciate this. I think throwing in a credit for next time or free appetizer or drink would have been the right thing to do, especially after the my first experience where the kitchen manager literally got into a screaming match with me when I requested a redo on our order that was not just wrong but actually physically messed me up (I have a chronic illness where spice effects my gut biome significantly). But at least they were willing to give us another meal with the correct order. read more

They had a lunch special for $14.99 which comes with 2 entrees, rice, plain naan and a dessert which is a good deal but you cannot make any customization to it. We ended up getting tikka masala level 3 spice (which comes with rice), 2 orders of garlic naan and chicken pakora. They give you complimentary lentil soup. Everything was under $50. The mixed vegetables pakoras with tamarind and mint/cilantro chutney is a shareable portion. The pakoras were crispy and seasoned well. The chutneys added the right amount of sweet, sour, and heat. The entrée portions are generous and everyone went home with a container. The saag paneer was well seasoned and the right amount of creamy. The naan was soft and not chewy - delicious. Others enjoyed the butter chicken, chicken chow mein (Indo-Chinese style), saag lamb, and chicken tikka masala. Service is friendly but could be a bit more attentive. Ordering in person and on the phone are easy. Friendly service and got my orders correctly which doesn't always happen. In addition, they were extremely friendly when I asked for clarification and suggestions. Place is easy to find, parking was no issue and plenty. When walking in everything looks clean. I ordered twice for pick up and both times, the food was delicious. It has lots of flavor and it takes fresh. I love naan and garlic naan and chicken tikka masala. I barely find good masala sauce that takes the way I am used to but this place surprised me! I can highly recommend it and the butter chicken - both were the best I have had in this area.
