One of our favorite places in San Diego! Great service, great quality food. They give you a complimentary lentil soup. We always get the Chicken tikka masala, and the garlic naan. There is a big parking lot in front of the restaurant! We spent about 20$ for each person! As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we felt like we were on the other side of the world, the Indian music, all the paintings and decorations hanging on the wall brought the culture of Nepal / India into this cute restaurant located in La Mesa. Most of the food was amazing and came out fast! We loved our soup which came with our orders, the Himalayan Balti and Lamb Biryani were really flavorful but the Himalayan Balti was put in a really small bucket and it was smaller than it looks like from the outside and hard to get the food out without dropping it. Most of our naan bread was really delicious but there were couple of thicker pieces that weren't fully cooked, we could still taste the taste of dough which was quite disappointing We had the Gulab Jamun for dessert, it's totally personal preference but I did not like it... There were three fried dough balls soaked in the hot ginger syrup, they were really flavorless but sweet... The moist and soft texture just not my favorite but maybe you would like it so feel free to give it a try! I love the food at the Himalayan it's delicious!! I don't eat spicy but they have all levels of spice. The garlic naan bread is freshly made and amazing! I have eaten both vegetarian and meals w meat. My favorite is the Tiki Masala - vegetarian! The soup is very good too. The ambiance is perfect for a couple or a group. How do I even begin? First, I've never had Nepalese cuisine before but after our first visit, I'm hooked. We came into such a cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere and was seated right away. To start, we ordered their Masala Chai and Mango Lassi. Both drinks were an absolute treat. The spice and warmth of their Masala Chai was just so addicting, I could easily see myself having it every time we come back. Similarly, the Mango Lassi was such a rich, delightfully sweet, and tart mango flavor that was also so addicting (this means a lot for me considering how mango is my favorite fruit and not a lot of places get that flavor down right). For our entrees, we got the Lamb Tandoori and the Tofu Tikka Masala. These were to die for. The lamb was cooked to perfection!!! It was so tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. Not too salty, or overpowering, but just enough to enhance the natural flavor of lamb. It came on a sizzling plate that you'd immediately recognize as soon as it came out of the kitchen. My wife got the Tofu Tikka Masala and we were entirely convinced it was the best curry we've EVER had across various Asian cuisines. The curry was such a wonderful deep flavor and a perfectly warm and hearty consistency. Not only that, but they were even able to make the flavor of the tofu stand out among this harmony of spices and deep flavors. But besides the amazing food, service was also at the same level! Folks were kind and attentive, and we thought the older gentleman that checked on us at the end of our meal was so charming that we knew we had to come back again and again and bring more people with us. Whenever I want curry I go to the Himalayan place to meet my fix. The ambience is nice and reminiscent of Nepal with the pictures that are displayed along with certain furniture pieces. Food is delicious! I tried the mango chicken for the first time, unsure what to expect. It was so good, I had to order it again the next time I returned! I had an awesome dine in experience for late lunch on 07/26/21. My waiter was very pleasant and efficient. I was next door at UPS, and was drawn in by the fragrant smells. I didn't realize I was even hungry until I got a whiff. The food in general was not super complex, spice wise, like a lot of Indian food I'm accustomed to. It smelled great though. The ambiance was nice, they had some upbeat Indian music playing at a perfect level. The vegetable samosas I got were just potato, they could have had more peas. The dumplings (chicken momo) I got to go, hoooooooo man! They were the bomb diggity. I loved them. I would not think to order them with Indian food, but it worked. Their naan was pretty doughy and a little thick, could have been a little more crispy, but it was really flavorful and nice classic harmony of seasoning and flavor that you would expect in naan. Aesthetically the place isn't that pleasing as it looks like a big banquet hall inside, but there is a smaller section to the left as you walk in which is more intimate and you may get seated in if not crowded. The food here is always authentically good and the portions are generous. Wow, what the hell was going on last night. It's a Friday evening and we decided to dine here. We knew from prior experience that the food would be delicious. But no, not tonight.......
