This place was fantastic. The indoor decor represents a lot of the culture of Nepal. Playing on a loop on monitors were videos of the landscapes and local towns of Nepal, including Kathmandu. Each booth has its own theme/flavor which makes it even more interesting. Food is delicious. Spicy level is perfect (waiter asked multiple times if we really wanted 8/10 for spicy because nobody ever asks for that kind of heat). Chicken tikka masala was the best. They have some good lunch specials which allows you to sample a variety of different dishes for about $13. Will definitely visit again and I recommend this place to anyone who loves the Asian culture and delicious authentic food!

    Indian beer!

I swear I've been here before, but never reviewed this joint. Ordered an Indian beer to start, and then 3 main dishes, which came with rice or naan. Food was great, the chicken tikka masala was my favorite, but the korma and curry were good as well. Ambiance is strip mall supper club, service was prompt and helpful, and prices were slightly above portion size... good joint, I'll be back!

Delicious food in a quiet and comfortable setting. Himalayan Palace offers a wonderful lunch special where you can pick two types of curry, with soup, naan and rice pudding for 13.95. A nice treat for those with a bit of a craving for Indian food at lunch.

This was easily the best Indian food I've had in a LONG time. The service was incredible, they were attentive and friendly. The garlic cilantro naan was delicious and paired beautifully with the main dishes. We ordered butter chicken which was rich and robust with flavor - probably the most delicious butter chicken I've had. The lamb curry was complex, flavorful and savory. I cannot wait to go back! The desire was traditional and quaint. Incredibly pleased with the whole dining experience. (I also loved the 7 dollar glasses of house wine)

Went in for an early dinner. I believe we were the only customers in the restaurant when we arrived. The food was good, but the service was super slow and they forgot part of what we ordered. The servers never came back to check on us and we had to wait quite awhile to flag one down.

This has been my go to spot for Indian food for the past few months. Everything I've tried so far is delicious! I love the chicken masala, it is so creamy and packed with flavor. I live for the naan and will sometimes order two just to have more leftovers. Great place, definitely try it and I'm sure it'll become one of your go tos too!

Best place to get your Himalayan/Nepalese food fix! We were blown away by how delicious everything was here! We ordered 1) chicken tikka masala- perfectly balanced in its flavors with such a savory, rich base of sauce. We used the naan to soak up the sauce. 2) garlic cilantro naan- amazing. Crispy on the edges, but chewy on the insides. A must get with your meal 3) mixed tandoori- this dish came out sizzling with an assortment of lamb, salmon, chicken atop grilled vegetables. Absolutely loved the marinade on the meat and the veggies soaked up all that yummy flavor. 4) mango lassi- so creamy, smooth, and the mango really popped through the yogurt base. Perfect to wash down the spicy food, a true palate cleanser. 5) 911 hot sauce- loved this bright, punchy, spicy sauce- I added it to everything and it definitely burns in the best way possible! The restaurant itself is super clean and warm with a friendly, helpful staff. Free parking with plenty of available spots!

Chicken Momo, Butter Chicken, Butter Naan This was excellent! The butter chicken was flavorful and filling, the chicken super tender. The Naan was classic and great. The chicken momo I quite enjoyed but it didn't amaze me; just a solid dish. I didn't think the sauce that came with the chicken momo was very flavorful, so I dipped the chicken momos in my Butter Chicken sauce instead, and that tasted great.

Yum!!! Very solid food here. We ordered takeout and everything was prepared by staff and ready on time, restaurant looked cute and would eat in another time. The garlic naan, chili chicken, chicken tikka masala and momos were all really good! Would definitely recommend and come back!

This place was pretty good. The butter chicken sauce was very flavorful and creamy. The paneer chili perfectly spicy. I did add more spice to it but was very delicious. The mango lassi drink that was free in check in was delicious although sweet and sugary. The naan bread was very good. Is be back

We came on Christmas Day observed. It wasn't our first choice. It was the only one opened after checking out three other locations in the area. So we're thankful that this place opened and the food was pretty good. Just wished their spice level matched their hotness. -Vegetable momo (10 for $10.95) - steamed dumplings served with Himalayan sauce. This sauce is so good! -Vegetable samosa (2 for $6.95) - large deep fried puff pastry with tamarind. -Vegetable pakora ($5.95) - deep fried potatoes, spinach, vegetables served with mint chutney. -Navaratma korma ($15.95) - vegetable korma. Really good and creamy spices. -Veg Thali (($18.95) - This came with a plate of everything even dessert. Rice, tarka daal which is a lentil curry, mixed vegetable curry, raita which is like a yogurt mix as a salad or a dip, and pudding for dessert. Also dal soup. Overall, food was great and so was service except the veg thali came with butter naan and we never received it. We had ordered cilantro garlic naan and didn't noticed until I was boxing the left overs. They no longer serve All You Can Eat.

Daily Lunch special, is that for Saturdays and Sundays as well?

    Yes

Is the buffet open? FYI Chinese buffet restaurants are open :(

No. Even indoor dining can be spotty particularly with Indian cuisine. When I inquired the various owners say that they need more employees to open indoor. Perhaps on June 15th. We'll see. Until then get it to go like I do.

Does their lunch buffet have tandoori chicken?

It did when we went, but a few other dishes did change so you may wish to ask them directly for a given day.

1-Star Review My…read morewife and I have been regular customers at Himalayan House on Friars Road for quite some time. We come here once or twice a week for lunch, sometimes just the two of us and often with two friends. Unfortunately, after what happened today, we will not be returning. Today, my wife and I came in by ourselves because we had not been able to get a response from our two friends about whether they wanted to join us. We were seated at a smaller table, which was completely reasonable for two people. About 10 minutes later, our friends texted us that they were on their way. When they arrived, we politely asked if we could move to a larger table. The restaurant was approximately 60% empty, and there were plenty of larger tables available. Instead of simply accommodating the request, the gentleman working there made a big issue out of it and insisted on adding two chairs to our small table. I explained that four people would be crowded and that we would simply prefer to sit comfortably at one of the many available larger tables. At that point, I asked why this was becoming such a big deal. His response was, "Yes, it is a big deal." He then told me that we should have told him from the beginning that we were going to be four people. I explained that we genuinely did not know our friends were coming when we arrived. I also asked him not to be disrespectful and simply allow us to move to a larger table. He then explained that the problem was that he would have to clean two tables instead of one. That was the moment we decided that this was no longer worth it. My wife and I paid for our meals, our friends left with us, and the four of us walked out. I understand that restaurants have procedures and that tables need to be cleaned. But when you have regular customers, a restaurant that is more than half empty, and four people simply asking to move to a larger table so they can sit comfortably, turning it into an argument is completely unnecessary. Hospitality is about making customers feel welcome and accommodating reasonable requests. If someone is unwilling to be hospitable, patient, and respectful toward customers, then they should not be working in the hospitality business. It is especially disappointing because we were frequent customers and genuinely enjoyed coming here. One unnecessary confrontation over something this minor has now cost the restaurant four regular customers.

This could be because it didn't have the same spice though, it wasn't sweet nor spicy. The chicken was very tender and no complaints there. The chicken tikka masala was great, not sweet at all not super spicy but a great level honestly, everything was at spice level 9 and I think it was all good but Chana masala had a bit of kick The paneer was veryyy creamy and quite sweet, I honestly did not really like it it was a weird sweet to me but it depends on your taste, my dad liked it and my mom did not Overall I would come back knowing exactly what dishes I want now, maybe I am bias because I am Indian and the dishes that had more Nepal influence or weren't like exactly Indian food did not taste as good to me, but normally I am not that picky of an eater.

The good: We…read morearrived on Friday evening around 6:45. The dining room was quite busy. We waited for a few moments by the entrance, and then we were seated at a two top next to the raised tables on the carpet. We ordered samosas, Naan, Chicken Saag & Mango Chicken. Dal: We were gifted two small cups of dal (lentil soup) with fresh cilantro. It was not as flavorful as it has been in the past, so we added salt and pepper, and that brought it to life. Samosas: Delicious! They were on the smaller side, but the tamarind sauce was delightful. - $4.99 Garlic & Cilantro Naan: Great and reasonably priced - $3.99 Chicken Saag - Spice level 4 - pretty hot, very tasty. Chicken and spinach in a rich sauce. - $15.99 Mango Chicken - Spice 4 - pretty hot, slightly sweet sauce and very flavorful chicken. - $15.99 Basmati rice: fine :) Glass bottles of water were placed on the table immediately, and when we finished one, another one was brought over right away. We appreciated this! There is plenty of parking in the lot. The could-be-better: The service was rather uneven today because there were only two waiters for the whole dining room and they had to seat folks, bus tables, handle to-go orders, and wait on tables. They definitely need more staff on weekends. As a result, the service came across as a bit gruff and harried. Our table near the carpeted seating areas was a little too small for all of the dishes, and when our used dishes were not taken off of the table, it was quite crowded. Additionally, when families arrived who needed to sit at the tables on the carpet, we were surrounded by people taking their shoes off, and it felt awkward and uncomfortable for a few minutes. We were just about done with our food when the families arrived, so we left shortly afterward, but it could be a bit much if we were there longer. There should be a "please wait to be seated" sign by the front door so customers don't walk into the restaurant and stand around by the desk, and crowd the folks who are already seated in the dining room, or worse, pounce on a table that someone else is waiting for. Overall: The food here is good and reasonably priced. I will probably opt for take out more often than I dine in going forward (just to avoid the crowds), but I will be back. This restaurant feels authentic and genuine, and I like supporting family-owned businesses whenever possible. Mahalo!
