Ordered takeout through door dash. I was surprised at how quickly they got my order ready and of course DoorDash was quick to pick it up. I got a chicken tikka masala medium spice with the garlic naan and had lots of leftovers. The portion size and spice level were perfect. The flavor was perfectly tangy but my only complaint is that it felt very very greasy to the point where the sauce was separating from the butter or oil (not sure what it was). still recommend it though. I'd like to try their other dishes.

I usually love their food. I just received the lamb chops that appear to have been eaten before they arrived. The bag had not been tampered with. I called and complained. They say they will comp that item, one of many items. The rest were fine. I will try again and hope it does not happen next time. Signed still hungry.

Picture online they use has 12 momos. Picture I took is of 5 momos smooshed together.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall with good parking lot. I came at 7ish and lot of seating but I was happy to see that towards 7:30pm more customers came in! The staff were really nice and attentive! We ordered the tikka masala and butter chicken spice level 2-3. Is recommend going up! I anticipated Thai level spicy but their spicy is 1-10. So 1-3 is pretty much no spice. Otherwise flavor wise super tasty! Decent portions

Tried this spot on a chill night out and it totally hit the spot. It's tucked away in the College/La Mesa area with a casual vibe and friendly staff. The service was great, and there was a steady flow of people coming in which made it feel like a local favorite. We shared a bunch of dishes: * Veg samosas -- crispy and flavorful * Chicken momos -- juicy and super tasty * Garlic butter naan -- soft, warm, and buttery * Special biryani -- came with paneer, lamb, chicken and shrimp (so much in one dish) * Malai kofta -- rich, comforting, and came with more naan * Mango lassi -- thick, creamy, and not sour (really good!) Everything came out fresh and hot, and the flavors were on point. Plus, there's a little Indian grocery store right next door owned by the same people, which is perfect if you want to grab some snacks or spices to take home. Parking was easy too, which is always a win in SD. Would definitely come back when I'm craving something warm and flavorful.

We were looking for a new place to eat and came across the Yak and Yeti. First , loved the name. The staff were very gracious and kept a very cool vibe in the restaurant. We ordered the vegetable pakora, chicken momo, garlic naan, and the everything Biryani. They were all excellent and way too much food for two people to eat. We wound up packing a lot up which seems to be par for the course with first timers. Food had a lot of complex flavors as did the dipping sauces. Definitely want to return and have the lamb dishes.

This place has a lot of good reviews so we decided to meet here for lunch. They had a good $14.95 lunch deal so that's what we picked. The lunch special came with plain naan, rice, rice pudding, soup, and two entrees. Choices were the usual 6 such as saag aloo, chana marsala, before korma, Chicken tikka marsala, chicken vindaloo, and I believe a chicken curry. Food was ok. The veggie korma and chicken vindaloo that I ordered were mediocre. I wish there was less sauce and more vegetables or meat. Food took a while and service was ok. The restaurant was empty when we arrived for lunch on a week day. A couple of other parties arrived while we were there.

Wow! I was truly impressed with the value and taste of the food here! I ordered online for pickup and got $10 off! Save some money by ordering online through their website and picking up your order. Pickup was fast and friendly. They have a vegan menu! I got the vegan Veggie Korma, vegan Channa Masala, rice, and Whole Wheat Roti. They even gave us a bonus dhal! The food was excellent -- I loved the spices in the rice. I ordered the dishes mild since my hubby can't handle too much spice. The portions were generous. It's lovely that they have a separate vegan menu, and I really appreciate them supporting my dietary choices. I'll definitely be back! I can't wait to take my mom here to try the vegan menu. I would love to dine in next time. Namaste!

Best biryani!! It is super legit this one!! The perfume of this biryani is one of the best I have ever smelled.

Yak and Yeti! I only know this place for how good their food is on DoorDash. Now, this visit. My goodness. Great customer service and the food is even tastier. What did we get? 1. Chicken Tikka Masala Non Dairy. It was replaced with Coconut milk instead of milk/yogurt. It tasted the same as doordash and at times, better per bite. This one is irresistible . Im full!! My new favorite for sure. 2. Chicken Biryani. Now! Its the first time I have ever smelled the goodness and perfume work! Not only it smells flowery, it was delicious. Doordash introduced us to Yak and Yeti and I absolute am In love with them. This will be the number 1 spot for Indian food hands down. Cant go wrong with this place. I am wowed!! Thank you Yak and Yeti. Keep up the good work. This place definitely have good Gluten Free options. Keep an eye out!!

Delicious. I love Indian food and wish I had it more often. Service was great, food yummy. We shared a Lamb Vindaloo, had Samosas and Chicken Momo also. Ambiance - you can either come in casual or dressy. I'd bring a date or friends here because it isn't loud and you can hear conversation.

We got the buttery chicken and the lamb curry with balsamic and saffron rice. The buttery chicken was lit creamier than I was used, but it was still really good but the lamb curry was absolutely to die for. We also got garlic naan bread and it was absolutely delicious. The service was so nice and the ambience is very full in the wall and you can tell that it's gonna be a really good place very local and Mom and pop. Must come!

Excellent food and excellent service. We had cheese naan, chicken curry, and chicken Tikki tandoori. All were very good. Plenty of rice too. At the end of the meal, I wanted to head to Indian grocery next door. They saw me try and go there, but realized it was closed. The server actually had key to grocery and went and got my items. That is going above and beyond and this girl appreciated that!

The food is great! The service is so slow, however... if they say it'll take 15-20 mins for takeout, double it.

Do you ever plan on resuming the buffet?

No we won’t resume buffet anymore. However we have started lunch specials which runs Tuesday- Friday, 11:15 am -2:00 pm. The lunch specials would have 2 items+ rice+ naan+ soup+ dessert, priced @ $14.95.

Some things have changed. The chai was excellent which I ordered while I waited. Everything smelled so good on the way home in the car. When we got home and had the food, the flavors were nice, but a few things were not so good. I will attribute it with costs of a small business trying to stay alive in this economy. Because the differences I noticed were cost related. First of all the baingan bharta should be called baingan peas because it was a sea of green peas. And I do not like peas. It is not even possible to get a bite without peas or to separate them out, it is chock full of peas. I didn't even see any eggplant pieces in there. Peas are way cheaper than eggplant. Secondly the kashmiri naan which hubby and I love - and have been ordering for years was different. We used to go there just for the Kashmir naan. But this time it was nothing special. It was thin with less filling and with more coconut (cheaper) than the last time we ordered it. There were no cherries that I could tell which used to be the main flavor with some nuts. The naan itself was thin. I was craving the good thick pillowy Indian bread stuffed full of deliciousness. But all I could taste was stale naan. I know that French almond croissants are traditionally made by filling the day old croissants with almond paste. And they are delicious. Maybe that's how kashmiri naan is made. But this naan just tasted stale. So I was disappointed. The other disappointment came with the to-go packaging. Everything was tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, however still something leaked through one of the brown paper bags making it tear through. Secondly when I opened the plastic container of the korma it squirted all over me and stained my ivory sweater. So I was already bummed by that experience even before opening the peas bharta. It appears the restaurant had rebranded itself as Indian Punjabi Cuisine and has a new Panjabi teddy bear logo. So I'm thinking that perhaps the ownership has changed hands. I didn't see the older Indian lady owner who is usually there during the lunchtime. Oh, they have the butter chicken on the backside of the menu with three other house specialties and I didn't see it until after I had placed the order -or I would have ordered that instead of the chicken tiki masala for my dad. We haven't had the desserts yet, but I trust they'll be fine. Anyway don't take my word for it. Go check it out for yourself.

Tucked inside this plaza, two doors near the back on the east end, nestled between a Chinese restaurant and another establishment, you'll find Taste of Himalayas in El Cajon. I was pleasantly surprised to see this location pop up since I'm only familiar with the other locations. Apparently they have other locations which I have been to, but I never knew that this one was back here. I initially thought that maybe they had changed their locations which definitely could've happened being that I have not eaten here in about two years. All in all Definitely a blessing for me. I was craving comfort food--something semi-healthy but still felt like a warm hug, especially since I haven't been feeling my best this week. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with basmati rice. Had I dined in, I would've been able to enjoy their lentil soup, which I barely missed by about two minutes. No big deal, though--I was more than ready to head home and enjoy my food in the comfort of my couch. The woman who took my order was very friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful with the menu. I also added garlic cilantro naan, which really completed the meal. My food was prepared promptly, which I appreciated. One thing I did notice: the chicken looked red, which made me wonder if tandoori chicken was chopped up and added to the tikka masala. I'm not used to seeing that, but typically the masala sauce covers everything, so it stood out a bit. Either way, the flavor was good. Some pieces were slightly dry, but a few were tender and juicy--those were the winners. The spice level was a 2, which was perfect for me. I needed something to open up my sinuses since my respiratory system has been all out of whack, and this did the trick without being overwhelmingly hot. The naan was cooked fresh to order, and the basmati rice was cooked perfectly. Overall, I'd definitely come back to this location and explore more of the menu. Hopefully next time I'll be feeling better so I can dine in and really catch the full vibe.
