Spicy and delicious! Our first try for this place was great! We'll definitely be back. We weren't very familiar with Indian or Himalayan food so we just ordered randomly off the menu. My husband got the Lamb Hima Thali set, super spicy, that was no joke, he drank 3 glasses of water but he said it was delicious. I got the Squash Saag (mild), I love butternut squash and it just had such a unique taste and bit of a kick to it, I really liked it. We also split the garlic cilantro naan, also amazing. read more

This charming little restaurant is a Must for anyone wanting a good meal!! We were absolutely blown away with the food..taste exceeded our expectations! Just wish would we would have found sooner! We had the garlic cilantro naan, tandoori chicken, samosas ( which were huge) and rice pudding, the meal portion was plentiful! The outside belies what awaits you inside. Inside is warm and friendly, nice, very nice inside. Plenty of seating. The waiter was quiet but professional. We started with a mango Lassi (a drink made with mango and yogurt.....................very, very goooooooood. We both had lamb tandoori...........also very very good. This is some of the best Indian food I've had in Oregon! Ordered for pick-up, I'm honestly impressed and will be back for more. The Butter Chicken was prepared in my favorite way, creamy and full of spice! The Garlic Naan was excellent too! I'll definitely be ordering pakoras next time. I'm picky about my food and rave reviews don't come easy. That said, if I were Paul Hollywood and this were Bake Off I'd be giving Himalayan Restaurant my handshake. We couldn't wait to try some "new flavors" in this coastal village that's steeped in traditional "meat, potatoes, and local seafood" Choices. As much as we treasure local fare, this was a welcome departure from our limited local choices. Sincere and attentive service, exciting new flavors, and all in an atmosphere of a Himalayan motif! The best Indian/Nepalese we have had. Our waitress was so attentive and gently conversational. We came in close to closing but that didn't keep our hostess from talking to us about the different dishes, pouring our wine, and generally being super kind. Would go back if we ever drive through Coos bay again. read more

Amaaaaazing!!! I'm sorry, but the negative reviews are wrong! It might be because we ordered different things but we loved the food, the service, the serving sizes, the quality; everything about this place was great. We got the saag paneer, the aloo jeera, veggie biryani, garlic cilantro naan, and chutney. We requested the medium version, which was ideal for us; not too hot so that you couldn't taste the food but hot enough so that it gave it a good kick. We ordered on line for pick-up. I can't go inside anywhere and asked for the food to be brought outside. Not only did she accommodate me, but the food was ready early and she was darling. (THANK YOU if you are reading this). This place transported me back to living in the only town in the USA that had two Himalayan/Tibetan restaurants (Bloomington, IN). I ordered samosa and pan fried noodles which were flavorful, and spiced perfectly. I can't wait to go back. Because I ordered carryout I forgot to get milk tea. I before I ordered I reviewed the menu ask questions of the waiter and informed him of my food allergies. I ordered the fried noodles medium with the chicken. The only spice I tasted was chili powder a ton of it. I felt like I was eating Cincinnati chili. The chicken tasted freezer burnt. It came with a cup of lentil soup which included my food allergy item that I had previously mentioned . I was surprised when it was brought to the table especially since I specifically asked for no food with it in there. I really wish on the menu where it says spices it specified what spices. Many people in the world have a lot of food allergies so it's pretty vague to be on a menu.. I also felt that the prices were very high for a lunch . They had advertised one lunch special for $21.99.After the meal we were not given a bill,until after we paid for it. The waiter was wearing a mask. I noticed during the mill that he sat down at a back table took off his mask and started folding napkins My concern was is that he didn't wash his hands after taking off the mask and he was folding napkins cloth napkins with no gloves on.. With us in the middle of the pandemic It made me feel a little uneasy. I would have preferred paper napkins. I don't think I will go back. read more

Having eaten Indian food at fine restaurants all over the world (Gaylords in San Francisco, New York and Hong Kong), as well as some fabulous smaller lesser-known restaurants in Little India in Artesia, CA......I think I am more than familiar with good Indian food as well as knowing the difference between northern and southern Indian food. This restaurant serves up northern Indian/Nepalese food and they serve it very well. If you are accustomed to traditional Indian food, the tastes of Nepali food will seem a little strange, but it is delicious as well. I have read reviews here that bash the restaurant's version of certain dishes, but I can tell you, they are unfounded as I think those few people are used to southern Indian food and therefore this Nepali food didn't please them. I understand how that goes, your palate expects a dish to taste a certain way, but Nepali food does not use heavy creams or milk, and they use tomatoes a lot. The spices are similar, but still unique to Nepali food. This restaurant is extremely well organized, very clean and the food was served quickly to our delight as we had an appointment to go to. It was delicious Nepali food, no less! And very nice people to boot. I will still have to get my southern Indian food fix elsewhere, but this is a great jewel to add to the Oregon Coast's list of great restaurants! read more
