Both times I ordered online and picked up - it was always easy to order and ready on time. The restaurant itself, both times I've gone in, has been very dimly lit and tables were dirty. The staff is always very friendly, quick to say hi and help as well as grab the food and get you on your way. I had Maria's door dashed and it was soooooooo good! I had an Al pastor super burrito and it was the biggest burrito I have ever seen! This place is delicious! Thai or Mexican both are amazing! Their super asada burrito is simply, how do say umami! The carne is cooked just right. It compliments the cilantro, rice and beans perfect. Finally the beans are seasoned perfect. You can taste the onions and seasoning as it comes together in a perfect bite. Now the curry there is just right! Omg it's great! I have ordered here many many times. I paid extra for extra chicken and extra vegetables. I received less chicken and less vegetables than if I just ordered the soup as usual. In this economy I was very disappointed to pay so much for extra and to get less than what a normal order contains. Also charging 3.50 for a cup of rice is highway robbery. So I will start with sharing that the food is good. We have eaten here twice. Both times we ate inside. We enjoyed the food both times. The service. Oh boy! The waitress really lacked normal social skills and even took my plate and utensils away without asking, when I clearly just took a bite in front of her. She also tried to take my husbands food away when he was still clearly eating. It was awkward. I suggest picking up the food to avoid finding yourself in a similar situation. I had high hopes for this restaurant because a lot of people in town think this restaurant is great. I went here three times and every time my meal had to be taken home and re-cooked. I would say it's just not good for vegetarians considering the vegetables are cold and raw in the warm burrito which tastes disgusting but my omnivore friends didn't feel that this restaurant was good either. When you have to go home and take the vegetables out of your burrito and saute them and put them back in your burrito after you reheat the rest of the burrito and pull off what's not supposed to be hot it is really not worth going out. I would have called and complained but since every meal I have had here has been the same way I just guess that's how they cook. read more

This was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Everything was either bland to the point of flavorless or salted into oblivion. The chips they brought out were cold and salty. The beans tasted of nothing but salt. The chicken flautas were dry and completely flavorless, not even the mediocre salsa verde that was brought out in a squeeze bottle could save them. No seasoning whatsoever. Carne asada crunchy tacos and mini street tacos were also completely underwhelming. The Carne asada quesadilla was horrible as well, way too much mozzarella cheese. A mouthful of flavorless meat and greasy cheese. I will never go back and do not recommend this food to anyone. We both got the Thai food at Maria's. We had the red curry with seafood and the Tom Kha soup with chicken. Both were obviously freshly prepared. The chicken in the Tom Kha soup was still very tender. My usual complaint about most Thai and Chinese places is that the meat seems like it's been overcooked. The seafood in the Red Curry was also very tender. The flavor of both dishes was also wonderful. I can't speak to the Mexican food, but I bet it's equally great. read more

I wouldn't go back. My order of 3 tacos and a Tamal took about 90 seconds. Everything out of a steam table or? Not very hot or flavorful at all though the onion and cilantro helped. An odd dining experience. The atmosphere left me much to be desired and the room was oppressively warm. The menu is a mixture of Thai and Mexican food. I choose pad Thai as it's a staple at Thai restaurants and safe. It was just weird. Very very sweet with so little chicken and virtually no peanut flavor other than crushed peanuts as a side garnish. I barley ate the food and told the server it was not right and he kind of shrugged, laughed and brought the check. I won't be back. My advice would be pick one-Thai or Mexican and then master it. read more

My wife and I tried this place on taco Tuesday and although it was okay I would not recommend it. We had the taco's which arrived in 5 minutes or more. We were the only ones there. The meat was warm although tender had little flavor. No salsa counter it just comes with a green or red salsa blended in squirt tubes. Chips were fresh and made from cut tortillas and fried.the service was good and the restaurant clean. I would not recommend this restaurant as it was not what authentic is. read more

Ok, I am going to make this as simple as possible. If you have never been to a State that boarders Mexico or have never been in Mexico, you probably know nothing of REAL mexican food. All of my family came here and were housed on Ellis Island in N.Y. before they were allowed to immigrate here and be citizens. They were chefs, cobblers and seamstress. They know their nations food. My point is, if Oregon food is your standard for Mexican, chances are Maria's will not be comfort food for you. The food here is Authentic Mexican and having ate this type food for 55 years...it is the BEST I have had here in and around Coos Bay. LOVED the tamales and tacos we had. Cant wait to go back. Not only that...the prices are VERY fair. Not over inflated like ever other Hispanic/Mexican place I have ate at here in Oregon. Thank you for keeping honest pricing based off a decent profit like a responsible business owner should. Other places are charging an arm and a leg for NOT Mexican food. Folks...we are talking rice, beans, tortillas, sauce, some meat and having skill in cooking AUTHENTIC Hispanic food. Tons of meat in the taco and enchilada. Beans were obviously homemade and the rice was great. All in all a great experience. I think they have the best tamales around, and have been ordering them almost since they opened. However, The last few times I have called, including three times today, they don't answer their phone. I get a recording saying that their mail box is full. Am extremely disappointed, and will start looking elsewhere unless they start answering their phone. This was our second visit to Maria's. The four of us had different entrees, and they were all terrific. I had a combo plate--red pork tamale and chorizo enchilada. My wife had the carne asada burrito and my SIL had the shrimp burrito. The burritos were very large and stuffed with meat. They also put rice in their burritos, which I don't care for, but my wife and SIL could each only eat half of their burritos, they were so big. My BIL had the carne asada huarache. Like the burritos, it had an enormous quantity of tender meat and was too big to finish. We'll be back. read more

This is our second visit for take out. Since the Thai food was disappointing on to Mexican! And honest to goodness Chorizo /Egg burrito I requested potatoes no bean or rice. It was accompanied by green sauce but no salsa- odd. Also a child size Taquitos. I was impressed with the outstanding favor of the burrito and the potatoes tasted caramelized yeah! And non of this "wet" stuff. Just unwrap and go to it. Chips were crunchy and sweet flour not corn. The side of rice w the taquitos has a pleasant flavoring.
