I came here a couple of times, the restaurant is in my neighborhood. The food here is incredibly fresh, and the balance of spice and sweetness is like a work of art. Ate at Himali Bistro for the first time on the recommendation of a friend, and we were so glad we did! Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Stop what you are doing and come to this restaurant! Listen, I'll be the first to say I'm a creature of habit and go to the same restaurants over and over again. I saw this restaurant open up and whenever I walk past it I'm like one day I'll give it a try... Today was that day. I was also the only customer at the time (right when it opened) and literally everyone was super welcoming. They found out that this is my first time and first time having Nepali food and got a fantastic recommendation of a beer. (See picture) it was SO refreshing. I got the small (7 dollars) it was bottle and he provided me the bottle so I can look at it and see who makes it. Anyway, I ordered the cheese naan (I have never had this before but something about it just sounded absolutely fantastic and it WAS. They also always have a sign outside with different daily special, today was (Lamb Momos) which I have never heard of but it peeked my interested. Looked it up online and it looked absolutely tasty and get this, it WAS. For the food to get to the table was around 15minutes?) but what's really cool is it's an open kitchen concept so you can see the food is made to order. The chef that brought out the momos said to me, "I really hope you enjoy these" and I DID. The momos were so so so flavorful, just the right about of spice and they were just wonderful dumplings (or I guess their version)SUPER impressed by the naan (somehow I saved a few cause my husband HAS to try this place) but the momos were gooooone so fast haha. Was told this is a great place for vegetarians, vegans (my husband is basically vegetarian) so I'm super excited for us to come here for a date. Went here today for lunch while visiting from New York. My first time. I had the dal bhat tarkari, a traditional Nepali dish that I had when I visited Kathmandu in 2019. It was outstanding! Washed down with the Nepali beer and a great strawberry lassi. A truly memorable meal. But what really stood out was the terrific, friendly (& helpful) service. What a great find! Lovely little slightly high end Nepali place. Most Nepali places are a bit more casual. This is definitely more dine in and ambience oriented. Really sweet wait staff and friendly service. The masala was very tasty - 4/5, a little disappointed with the tandoori as the prawns were cold/over-cooked 2/5, and the rice was perfect so yummy - 5/5. Their food is sooooo yummy! The Gobi cauliflower is hands down the best cauliflower I've ever had. There's a place in San Luis Obispo that I drive to for the cauliflower, but now I don't have to drive. We also had the tandoori shrimp, samosas, and lamb vindaloo. All were presented beautifully and were so tasty. The service was some of the kindest, most helpful we've had in 10 years living in the Bay Area. Shout out to Suzan for being so authentically kind. So impressed. We had a wonderful dinner earlier at the restaurant on a Thursday night. We ordered the chicken Momo (dumplings) and Bara (Nepalese lentil pancakes) for appetizers. CHICKEN TARKARI CURRY and BHEDA KO MASU for entree. All were flavorful and delicious, and our favorite was the chicken Momo. The special sauce definitely brought the dumpling to another level! Not to mention the service was excellent, and there wasn't much wait. The environment also felt pretty cozy and warm. The restaurant is probably a hidden gem because there weren't that many people in the restaurants. It could also be the weekdays. I selfishly hope it would stay a hidden gem so it wouldn't require reservations to visit, but I also couldn't help leaving them a raving review. Happy customers here! read more

Wow! I found this gem through Yelp as it's rare that my wife and I would meet in Burlingame for lunch. The stars aligned and we were both in the area today. Apparently this restaurant is pretty new, but you would never know, as the staff is well polished. The service had the warm feeling you'd receive at a friends home for dinner. The food was amazing! My wife is attacked to anything Spicy, and she's a bit spicy herself. It's the best Indo Nepalese restaurant we've encountered in this area! The dishes were artfully presented and our server, Suzan, was impeccable, with flawless English and excellent service. Dinner included Choila (Nepali grilled lamb, marinated in Newari spices and mustard oil served with salad and rice); Himali Chicken chili (Marinated fried chicken sautéed in Indo-Nepalese chili garlic sauce); sensational Tandoori mushrooms, marinated in spices served over mint chutney and pickled onions), Chow mein (traditional Nepali stir fry noodles sautéed with onions, carrots, bell peppers, broccoli and cabbage); and Basmati rice. This place has the most authentic tasting food around. We have lived in South Asia and traveled to Nepal and this place is the real deal. Service is great and the people are so friendly. Great wine list and some beers including a Nepali option. Other drinks on the menu too and non alcoholic too. We had saag paneer and lamb curry that came with vegetables and dal soup. Everything we ordered is delicious. The seasoning is top notch. We came as a group so we gotta try several dishes. Chow mein is god level. I can taste the wok hay. I can tell there's oil and it's dry enough to feel light on the tongue yet holds all the flavor. Momos - dumplings are so yummy on the first bite that everyone had to let out a WOWWW. My choila is a dry dish served with rice and salad. It could be better though. The lamb pieces are well seasoned tandoor style. I wish it could be softer but maybe it's the cooking style. Paneer tika masala is so deep in flavor. I had to order garlic naan to try with the gravy, which is so great by the way. Food can make or break my day. That dinner made me so happy. I can tell they put love and passion in the dishes. I wish the best success to their business coz if there's not much support, the passion will need to be compromised. Never had this flavor before - it was delicious! All the flavors were great. I think the food is a fusion of Nepalese and Indian traditions. In any case, it was all very tasty, and happily out of the ordinary. The service was terrific. The staff was very friendly and made helpful suggestions, and, as they knew it was our anniversary, served us a slice of cheesecake with candles on it for dessert.
