Have had my car worked on twice at this shop and experience has been 50/50. First time back at their old location had great experience with some paint and body work at best price compared with few other places. More recently, took car in for maintenance inspection and seemed satisfactory. However, shortly after the service I discovered they had crossthreaded 3 of my wheelbolts, which I ended up just replacing myself. I have done my own basic auto work for a while and the issue was not caused by me or any other shop. I only visit a shop for high mileage inspection or more complicated service that I am not equipped to address. I have never crossthreaded a wheelbolt in all my years and it basically happens when someone is not careful, lazy perhaps, and does not properly start off a lug nut before using an impact wrench. Seems from some other reviews that the shop has been having a few challenges with mistakes and management that they can hopefully get sorted out. I may give the business another shot, or may try out others in the area. read more

Run!!! Hiro auto shop are greedy dishonest people. I thought they were honest because all the great reviews on Yelp. Took my car to get and evaluation and repaired. They said I needed a new distributor and that it wouldn't be so easy to take out and replace due to a broken bolt. They quoted 500-700 dollars. I took it to a different mechanic and left with a 300 bill. 220 for the parts. It took no longer than a hour to fix. You've been warned. I understand that the business has to charge to make money, but that was extortion. read more

I've been meaning to write this for a while. I had a great experience at Hiro's. It all started off because of my horrible experience at DCH Torrance Toyota. They told me that I'd have a bunch of things I need to fix, so I took my car over to Hiro's for a 2nd opinion. The mechanic told me that I would probably need one out of the 4 things they told me I'd have to have fixed. I had a confusing few months of shuffling back and forth to Toyota, but finally ended up at Hiro's again for a break issue. It took me three visits, but they got it checked out and taken care of. When I had complained about more brake issues, Hiro's guys took care of it without charging me, which is a given, but some establishments will still try to charge you! It was great because they also noticed that my windshield wiper was jacked up and they replaced it for me without charge. I really appreciate that! I've gone to Hiro's for over five years. They have always done good work at a very fair price. They're also very trustworthy. Recently my car had serious transmission problems. I left it there for part of the day for them to check it out. They determined that it needed a rebuilt transmission. Although I chose another shop that specializes in transmission rebuilds for my car, Hiro's didn't charge me anything for the time that they spent diagnosing the problems. read more

Before i went to Hiro i shopped around Torrance to find an honest good auto shop, a few shops were a little too high on their price, and their were a couple that were just dumb and when they see you its all "dollar" signs... When my Nissan Quest had some problems, i was a bit scared that it might be a big expense that i might as well buy a new car, which i don't want to do! First thing in the morning, i went to Hiro and had my car checked, surprisingly Hiro told me that he can fix it and get the parts the same day... The best part, he is only charging me 1/2 of the price that other places quoted me... Not only that, he gave me some recomendations and told me what was needed most. I had some minor problems fixed and got my car before 3pm... I am really happy of the service, free change oil and filled the fluids in my car... I recommend this place, they know what they are doing... don't waste your time looking for a good auto shop, Hiro is the place! read more

I've been using Hiro Auto Service for over a year and they have never disappointed. They never try to up sale me on anything and their prices are very reasonable. Also they are a lot cheaper then taking your car to the dealership and having to wait 4 hours for your car to get done for a simple oil change. read more

I've taken my car here a couple times. Just passed 180,000 miles so I was expecting to have to do a big expensive service. To my surprise, they told me I didn't need anything except a new battery and an oil change. I knew my battery was low before I took my car in, so I got that done. I think these guys are honest and I'll keep bringing my car here as long as I can. They basically do what needs to be done, but not the cookie cutter way we are used to. They check the fluilds and everything and will only recommend a service if the car needs it. We all know there are shops that will recommend you get a major service just because you pass a certain mileage. Not Hiro...they don't recommend it unless it needs to be done. They've saved me money a few times. I trust Hiro for my car maintenance! read more

i am literally obsesses with these guys, everyone knows that mechanics are just that one job thats always tying to screw you over, and that recently happened to me at another shop that i want to give negative stars to them and add way more than 5 for these guys, but I'm a walking target for those kinda people seeing as i have absolutely no idea whats what (i didn't even know how to open the hood of my car if that helps a bit lolol) well i went to hillside auto about 4-5 months ago bc my car broke down, and still being new to torrance i haven't found a mechanic out here I've gone to yet, so i trusted AAA and their recommendation well that was a bad idea, and my car didn't run so it wasn't like i could shop around, my bill was about $2700!!! i think it was $1500 they charged for labor, unbelievable, and they kept my car forever! anyways 4 months go by and my car feels like its about to break down again, I'm thinking its the same problem so it should be covered under the warranty, but nope they wanted another $1600 from me, i couldn't believe it so i checked out yelp and saw my new favorite people over at hiro, brought them the bill from before as well as the estimate from the other shop and told them the situation, and these guys basically when all said and done 2 visits (first visit cost i think $120, and that was going to make sure my car didn't break down on me, the second visit was $300 something, so total was $400 something to take care of everything and they get the job done fast got my car back the very next day, but what i would love to know from hillside is where the hell that extra $1200 was going i am just so blown away with what a shitty place they are and i just cant tell you how refreshing it was to find a place like hiro especially with the level those other guys were taking advantage (when i googled the services and the prices for what they did on the $2700 i think the most expensive price i saw had paid was still $6-700 less than what they charged me, i mean those guys are a joke and i will be putting this review on their page too, but they charge people $154 right off the bat just to see what is wrong with the car, like wtf do they think people just swim in money or something ? unbelievable, so to sum everything up NEVER GO TO HILLSIDE AND ALWAYYYYYSSSS GO TO HIRO YOU WILL LOVE THEM BEST MECHANIC I HAVE EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE read more
