My car was making loud squeaking noises whenever I hit the brakes so clearly, it was a brake issue. I took to Hiro Auto to have them inspect it but they didn't find anything wrong and assumed it was dirty brake pads. I took it to another mechanic (did this when I visited my parents in Alhambra) for a second opinion and they found that my rotors were wearing down. I would have had this mechanic replace my rotors if they would be able to finish within the day but unfortunately for them, that was not the case and I had no desire to travel all the way back to this mechanic. So I brought my car back to Hiro Auto to do the service that was recommended by the second mechanic. If they hadn't misdiagnosed the issue in the first place, I would give this place a 5/5 because they are honest and their prices are reasonable. They may have been a bit careless when inspecting my vehicle but that would have caused problems that may have been far more expensive than replacing rotors. I might have just caught them on a bad day but who knows. This is my garage of choice when I have to take it in for an oil change ($25 at the time of this posting). The guys there are easy to talk to and quick with their work. I'm more than willing to take my car to them again if I feel something's wrong with it. read more

My car was over heating and was told from my friends that I needed a coolant flush so I called and spoke with Yuya and he said I prob didn't need that but he would check out my car for free and tell me the problem.. I was nervous it wasn't going to be a quick fix and super expensive but they were able to fix it super fast, super quick and super cheap.. The most honest guys that work at a mechanic shop ever.. Love this Auto Repair shop! Especially if you own Japanese cars. They do quality work and it is way, way, way cheaper than the dealership. These guys are fair and honest and wont tell you that you need work done unless you truly do. They will even actually show you on your car and explain the areas of concern if there are any. Will be going here with all of my cars from now on. Great prices for oil changes, service and pretty much anything you need done. It's my first time needing to go and see Hiro since they moved to the new location. The best part is that they have not missed a beat. Made an appointment got my brakes done, an oil change and had a latch repaired as well. Communication was great and the price was reasonable and came in under budget. Don't let the name fool you. It is hard to find a trustworthy mechanic, but I've been taking my car here for a few years now and I never feel that I'm being hustled for unnecessary services. I took my car in for a regular maintenance and I told them that I was concerned about my brakes because it was making a weird warping sound. The mechanics test drove it, but of course, the sound was nonexistent. They told me that the front brakes still had about 25% of life in them so it could wait until the next car maintenance, but that they could replace it for $210 if i wanted to do that. There was never any pressure to move forward with it. I told them I would call them back, and I called my family friend mechanic guy and he confirmed that the price would be $210 to replace the front brakes. I decided to wait on the brakes in the meantime. So for the oil change and to patch up my rear tires that had nails in them (i had no idea!!) was only $77. This place is trustworthy, professional, efficient, and most importantly affordable! I would definitely recommend this place to anybody. read more

This is my new auto service center. I got to meet Hiro when I picked up my van. English is not his first language, but he is very humble. When I first called and asked for things I needed done for the 100k mile tune up, the guy on the phone suggested I just bring the van in and let them do a visual inspection before doing any unnecessary work. This is usually where they will get you, and add all sorts of nonsense to the list of things that need fixed. Not at Hiro auto. After changing jobs over a year ago, I had to find a new mechanic that was closer to my home. I searched for a few weeks before settling on Hiro Auto Service. The great reviews and close proximity made it an easy choice. I am so happy with my decision. They have always been honest and up front with me. A little history: after the numerous oil changes they notified me that my brakes were wearing down and I should replace them.I was a little nervous since this was my first big job outside of my old mechanic. They put my worries to rest. They finished hours before their estimation and they charged exactly what was on the estimate. I was comfortable knowing my car was in good hands with them. Fast forward a year and I am planning on a going on a road trip. Needed an oil change and I wanted to make sure the car was all set. The manager tells me things look good EXCEPT for the brakes. One side was down to 50% but the other was down to 5% due to a caliper getting stuck. I brought the car in at 4:20 for an appointment and I'll be out the door before 6pm. What makes it even better was that since I had gotten my brakes done a year ago, they decided to only charge me for the parts and not charge labor. I just had to write a review to help all of you out there looking for an honest, reasonable, and quality repair center. Stop searching because you have found your new repair center. They take care of your car as if it is their own. We found out about Hiro Auto from many parents at our kids' school years ago. Anytime our cars and friends' and family's cars have needed anything we send them here. When we ask them how it went they all say the same thing, GREAT!!! Fair and reasonable! They don't oversell! A personal thank you to Hiro and Katsu for fixing my HVAC drain personally. It was draining into the back seat instead of out of the car. The dealer wanted to pull out the carpet and seats etc.... $$$$$. Hiro and Katsu found the drain tube was bent back draining back into my car. All it took was 5 minutes and someone who cared to look and help. Why can't all businesses run like Hiro runs his repair shop? Why is being honest fair and proud of your job/work such a rare thing? Truck sideswiped me and destroyed right rear view mirror.Grrr. Called Hiro about the issue said they had to get mirror from dealer. Took 4runner in on Tuesday and ready Wednesday morning. And I must say it was way less than the dealer. They also rubbed out a paint mark on the fender below the mirror which the other truck did. I didn't ask them to do so. Excellent customer service. I was having some car trouble and I took it here to be evaluated. They were very welcoming. They thoroughly checked it at no cost. Although they do not do major repairs they were very helpful and went to the extra step of making some calls and gave me some recommendations of what options I had. I went to do further research and found someone that can help me with the problem with their recommendations in mind. On top of that on a day that their office is closed they did a follow up call to see how I was doing with my car and the owner personally offered to continue to help search for deals. It's never a pleasant experience searching for an auto repair shop when your only means of transportation is being hitched to the back of a AAA tow truck. I found myself in a pickle, I needed to find a shop that was cheap, honest, AND would do quality work. I know that's a lot to ask for, and I honestly figured as long as I can find a shop that met the first two criteria I would be willing to settle. After receiving several estimate's from a handful of local shops I was about to give up on my search and was preparing to live off of instant noodle's and Costco hotdog's for the next month. I decided to call Hiro's Auto Service, despite being a bit out of the way from my residence. When I phoned Hiro's, I felt comfortable enough to use my last complimentary AAA tow to bring my car to his shop. The conversation was brief but I was able to quickly get his temperature; he was not pushy, initially he mentioned that they were a bit busy and he may not get around to seeing my car till the following week, since my vehicle was not drive-able I inquired about any storage fee's if my vehicle were to stay overnight AND IF I decided not to use his shop. He reassured me that they wouldn't charge me any sort of storage fee's if we decided not to use his shop. (this review was started in 2014 while I was living in LA). I forgot to leave the feedback so I will finish the review 2 years later. While I no longer reside in Torrance and have since moved away from the area. If I am ever in the area and need auto work done, I will not hesitate to come back to Hiro's. My driver side power window stop working and as it started getting cold out and having an hour+ commute I finally took my car in to Hiro to get the window motor or whatever the problem is fixed. I dropped my Chrysler 300 off on a Friday, and picked it back up on Monday morning being that I went out of town. I then find out that Hiro said that "The window fell off the track and he fixed the problem and there is no charge for the repair". This was completely unexpected, as granted he may not have had to replace any parts, but the mechanics time spent taking off the inside of the door etc..but still no charge. As I said before, great guy, great business, and I truly suggest anyone who wants that old school tradition of selecting a local mechanic you can trust..Go see Hiro. 5 Stars once again! read more
